This game sucks, the stages are rough, the game is repetitive, there are literally unfair stages, like the game pitting you against enemies that you can't beat, it's simply very bad.
This game is the WORST game I've ever played. You may look at the screenshots on the store page and think that it looks cool. Yeah, that's the only good thing about this f*cked up dog t*rd. It really feels like the devs went out of their way to create the most annoying and most irritating game ever. Well, I can clearly say that they have succeeded. Reaper is a 2D action game with some RPG elements. In some missions you can choose different dialogues, and the outcome will be different. You can level up and increase your stats, and you can visit shops to buy new armor and swords. This piece of dog sh*t couldn't even get leveling up right. When you level up, the game presents you with 3 different attributes to choose from. Let's say that you want to upgrade your health, but the game might not give you the option to upgrade your health. Basically, you can't upgrade what you want; instead, you are forced to select the 3 upgrade cards the game presents you. What a stupid design choice. Unfortunately, no matter how many times you level up, it can't help you with the bullet sponge enemies and terrible level design. In each mission you are fighting on a 2D plane. You can go to the left or right, but the devs wanted you to suffer while fighting because they filled the environment with deadly hazards. In some levels, you can't land on the ground without taking damage because the whole goddamn level is filled with spikes. Enemies pile up on top of each other, and if 3 or 4 casters pile up in a space, you might as well exit and try again. These casters have no cooldown; they can fire their projectile infinitely, and believe me, once they see you, they will continuously fire until you kill them. Some of the projectiles can track you, and no matter how far you go, they still follow you. You can turn off your computer, and those f*cking projectiles will still follow you and hit you. While you are dealing with all this bullsh*t, aerial enemies make sure that you don't get a chance to breathe. You might want to focus on them, but the enemies on the ground will not leave you. You try to land, but you can't because of the spikes. Also, levels feature lots of pits, and they can nearly drain half of your health if you don't buy the necessary upgrade. This stupid protagonist moves slower than a sloth taking a sh*t. Every enemy is faster and stronger than you. And of course, to top it all off, this donkey f*ck features a godawful final boss fight. Jesus Christ! This game is the worst thing I've ever played in my entire life. A braindead chimpanzee can develop something better than this. You have to be mentally handicapped to create something so foul and disgusting. Hong Kong 97 feels like God's gift after playing this sh*t. I bet every everyday Satan looks at this game and weeps in hell
fighting system and storyline was okay but way too much filler and the movement is horrific; you're often bombarded with random ambushes because they place waypoints far from each other to initiate those attacks. the enemies also are just annoying, even with upgrades you get hit with many projectiles and insta-die or enemies you can't fight because they run from you with the same damn speed. movement system especially dashing is so random; you'll accidentally dash for no reason. you'll also bounce off random things too.
ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
when this game got 'fixed' it became unplayable unfortunately
i wanted to finish off a game i used to play on mobile and i didn't mind the terrible map controls or repetitive battles because it felt fast enough. very unluckily for me this game got updated when im probably 3/4 way through the game, this 'fixed' the game and made it smoother and better functioning, this caused the game, for me, to turn into slow-motion. it felt like playing in 0.5x speed, everything slowed down (not lag/frames), i can't believe this was the intended way to play the game as it now feels unplayable, whatever was wrong with game before, vsync, poor refresh rate, whatever it was, made it playable but now i can't even bear to finish it :(
Very enjoyable world and an okay combat system.
Direct mobile port.
Extremely linear with 0 replayability value. You either have no choices in matters, or when you DO have choices, they lead to the exact same outcome.
Last third of the game feels very messy, with combat encounters being utter garbage - millions of the same 2 ranged flying enemies being thrown at you at once because it's the only way this game seems to know how to make an encounter "difficult".
Final boss sequence is both very grating and rushed, and the boss itself has one attack and relies on 90% damage reduction to stop you from rolling it over. Enough said.
Do not get the wrong impression, I LOVE this game dearly and appreciate the love that went into it. Big fan of this game, but it is SUPER flawed in the one department that you encounter most; the fighting system.
The fights are very tedious and it takes about 3 fights per quest. That's not too bad until you consider the ungodly amount of quests you have to do before beating the game. The story was incredibly entertaining to theorize on, yet it's hard to enjoy the story due to the frequency of battles (especially around the end of the game.) The battles themselves are pretty fun, yet the lack of new enemies and instead recolored sprites becomes upsetting after a while when everything is introduced.
The level design is also god awful in some scenarios. There's one specific fight that comes to mind, where you have to fight flying enemies, enemies that shoot projectiles (that can stun you,) and melee enemies. The catch is there's two platforms, and thorns that surround both edges parallel to one another. thorns do damage when you jump on them, and the gap makes it practically impossible to jump it without taking damage. And unless you have an upgrade to reduce the damage taken from falling into pits, you will lose almost all of your health by falling. By the way, did I mention pits are EVERYWHERE in this game to the point that upgrade is practically mandatory?
spoilers for how the final boss plays out, the final boss was dragged out for SO long, and it wasn't even fun to get through due to the fact the boss has a singular attack it does the entire fight. I want to love the boss to death because of the design, yet it was so frustrating. along with this, the one attack it does has homing stun orbs so if it flies above one of the arena pits, good luck. It took me 6 hours on and off to beat the boss and it didn't feel rewarding rather relieving. I could never bring myself to play this game again because of this element alone.
Finally, my last gripe would be with the bouncing coins. there could be 500 coins total in a chest but because the money bounces, you're going to get 70 coins tops. It really feels like the game had more passion put into the art direction and dare I say story (in which it really starts to pick up around the end) had more love put into it than the main part of the game itself.
The game is beautiful. But please just watch a playthrough.
