SUPER GOOD GAME
never been a fan of slender man games
Would you recommend this game to other players? YES
It just wasn't that scary or impressive.
Slender Man returns more terrifying than ever. You're on your own. No one to help you. No one to hear you scream. Relive the horror all over again with cutting edge visuals for the 10th Anniversary Update and experience survival horror at its finest.
Story
You play as Lauren who is searching for her missing friend Kate. You search for clues to her disappearance while being chased by Slender Man. The game is quite short and takes about 2 hours.
Gameplay
The game is quite simple and straightforward. All you have to do is look for various objectives while avoiding Slender Man. The only thing you have at your disposal is a flashlight. The first chapter is a Prologue where you get to learn the game. The second chapter is the classic Eight Pages. The third chapter is basically the same as the Eight Pages, but instead you are in an abandoned mine where you have to start 6 randomly placed generators while avoiding both Slender Man and The Proxy who is a human child that has lost his/her mind to Slender Man. You can temporarily stun The Proxy by blinding him with your flashlight. This is the hardest part of the game. Chapter 4 & 5 were much easier, almost just a walking simulator.
After you have completed the game once you will unlock Hardcore difficulty. It should have been available from the start, because the game is much scarier on that difficulty. But after playing through the game once I didn't feel like playing it again. I did it anyway to get all the achievements, and it was better on Hardcore difficulty. For example, they made Chapter 3 with the generators harder, as you also have to find fuel for each generator.
Environment & Scares
The environment is varied enough for such a short game. The atmosphere is not particularly scary. I don't think Slender Man and The Proxy are particularly scary either. Charlie Matheson Jr. was the creepiest of the three, but he also looked kinda ridiculous when he ran. The game mostly consists of chase sequences, but also has some cheap jump scares.
Visual Design & Sound Design
The game got a 10th anniversary update in 2023, which made a significant improvement to the graphics. The animation of The Proxy when he catches you looked a bit weird though.
The sound design wasn't that great. I'm mostly referring to the sounds The Proxy makes when you shine your flashlight on him. It sounds like a squealing pig. Charlie Matheson Jr. also sounded a bit weird.
The Verdict
Slender: The Arrival is the best Slender Man game out there, since it has the original classic in it, but just an okay horror game in my opinion. The first chapters did scare me a few times, but I got a little bored after chapter 3. The rest of the game wasn't as good and just got a bit tedious. It just wasn't that scary or impressive. Getting bored after one hour in a two-hour game is not a thumbs up for me.
Rating: 5/10
Its *Slender,* of course, we gotta find his papers... in the woods...
I love Slenderman
Peak Fiction!
scary
quite the experience even when the updates are plans it still kick pussy's and booty's
A delightfully spooky game that I personally feel still holds up after all these years. Hands down the best Slender Man game made to date, and does justice to the iconic creepypasta character.
i just ABSOLUTELY shit myself, ive been wanting to play this game since 2016 and just now decided to get it... fuckin hell
by the way, not letting me save the game is diabolical, i left after getting 5/8 pages due to panicking
idunno if ill ever go near it again, but its really nicely made and i like it regardless
Just finished getting all 21 achievements. Worst game I have ever played, would much rather put a toothpick in my urethra than touch this shit game again.
New update basically makes a game from a old engine that's well optimized to some nu-gen slop just for the hell of it without properly implementing things, I noticed how the flashlight "light beam" on surfaces basically have strong visual noise then I realized that it's forcing raytracing on without us knowing killing frames, how is a 3070 suppose to run RT on a badly optimized game. If you choose to purchase the game to try it out, download the previous versions in the steam launch options and it'll be a more enjoyable experience with less issues. The new content is basically asset swapping the map to support high detailed textures and a new level, slender loses his "aura" with a low grade model and the new level doesn't add much to the game at all, you could watch a video on the level and you won't mess out on any new lore since it doesn't provide any new information besides that the slender is supposedly some sort of parasite of sorts when you read all the notes in the new level and people refuse to even talk about that detail for some reason.
I cr@nked it while playing this
Fun Horror game it's pretty fun for a first horror game.
3.6/5
Not great, not terrible. Nostalgic classics but not scary, disappointing to be honest, and easy even on hardcore difficulty. But still thumbs up from me.
Have always loved this game, Crazy to think that even with all the hype that used to surround Slenderman the only quality pieces of media we really got from his character was this game and the Marble Hornets YouTube series.
good game
100% Achievement Review: A review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements.
Title: Slender: The Arrival
Summary: Horror puzzle game
Personal notes: I played this originally on Xbox and thought I would give the 10 year anniversary update a go. I will applaud how much extra content the developers have introduced over the years. With this in mind, AI is still very frustrating to deal with in some scenarios. I would also like to mention that a couple of the achievements are very buggy such as Insta-killed or I Escaped. I had to retry those many times with different strategies from YouTube. If this wasn't the case the difficulty would be lower but as it stands it's quite frustrating. Overall though it's a fun short horror game. Would grab on sale.
Time it took to complete: 8hrs
Most difficult achievement(s):
- Fearless (Beat the game on "Hardcore" difficulty)
- Speed Runner 1/2/3 (Various speed run achievements)
- The Collector 1/2 (Find all scrapbook items/numbered letters)
Difficulty rating: 6/10
Overall rating: 6/10
What do you mean you can't save?

Slender: The Arrival is a first-person survival horror video game developed by Blue Isle Studios and Parsec Productions as a fully realized, commercial version to Parsec's Slender: The Eight Pages, with Chapter 9 being a remake of the aforementioned game.

The majority of the game takes place in abandoned areas (house, defunct mine, etc.), each with different objectives. Slender: The Arrival uses similar mechanics to its predecessor, The Eight Pages.

A 10th anniversary remaster released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on October 18, 2023. A sequel, S: Lost Chapters, was announced.
its nostalgic thats about it
One of my favorite games of all time. This was one of those games that I remember when I first started to play horror games during my childhood. Glad they remade it!
i shit myself
I remember playing this game back in 2014. I was a little kid but damn, this game was so scary to me. I remember thinking that Slenderman was real and that he was going to kill me and my whole family LMAO. Good times. But yeah, this game is decent for people who aren't biased from nostalgic reasons.
Nice to refresh all those childhood memories.Fun game
need dlc but amazing game
Firstly, I'm going to go on record by saying that Slenderman is the greatest creepypasta entity conceived by the hand of man but was fu♥king ruined by the abhorrent YouTube scene at the time and by how cringey his fanbase eventually became, as well as that god-awful 2018 movie. In theory, if he was done by anyone who had a modicum of respect for the horror scene, he would be amazing, but the problem is, most of the fanbase at the time because of the YouTube scene at the time were fu♥king 12-year-olds.
I am utterly convinced that Slender: The Arrival is one of the most underrated horror games and is also the best depiction of Slenderman that we've had, but also one that definitely has its problems.
The Good Stuff
The opening segments, the build-up, the atmosphere, and the visual design are second to none, brilliant, especially with the unreal engine graphical update they did for the 10th anniversary, honestly this game is fu♥king gorgeous. The story's biggest strong point is the mystery surrounding the Slenderman. I like how it doesn't give any specific details about his origins because his strongest point as a horror entity is that he is inherently incomprehensible. You cannot understand him. You only get clues as to where he may or may not have come from, but even then, it is open-ended enough that these clues might not actually be reliable sources of information. Everyone in the game, all these notes you come across—they're all written from the perspectives of unreliable narrators. It's interesting and reasonably well thought out. I'm glad that they didn't go into any bullsh♥t explanation.
Where It Falls
What I didn't like is the part where, after you get out of the mine section, the pacing goes to sh♥t. Because after the mine segment, the game is basically already over; you just have to go through the burning woods section, and you're basically at the radio station, and the game is already over. Now the extra hour of content they added to the game, I very much appreciate it; the problem is that it doesn't fit with the rest of the game whatsoever, especially the hospital section. I can definitely appreciate having more content and more stories added to the game, but the hospital section does not really add anything to the overall lore; it's kind of just "all in le head, lmao, some guy burns his house down after escaping a mental institute," and that's basically it. The other bit of added content, where the guy goes snooping around the sketchy ass farmstead like in Resident Evil 7, where its like any reasonably person would have fu♥ked off as soon as that crackhead showed up. The lore in that segment is interesting; it's just how we come to unravelling that lore; surely they could have redesigned the game and its level design to incorporate these things more naturally, instead of just "Oh hey, here's some VHS tapes, break up the pacing of the game completely, fu♥k you."
It's really unfortunate because this game is full of excellent concepts; some of the delivery hits reasonably well and has a small amount of replay value due to the random placement of the notes and generators in the mine segment, especially. But most of the time it just doesn't hit. It's sad because there is plenty more they could do with the formula if they just added more gameplay variety; they just took the base Slender: The Eight Pages gameplay and basically did all they could with it, which, you know, hats off to them; it just feels underwhelming; like it was rushed, and that's crazy to say because they've had 10 years to work on this game.
Overall
So, overall, I really enjoyed it, but to be fair, it has a lot of problems. Short length and unfulfilled potential are the two biggest things that are holding this game back from being great, but everything I did play was actually quite good. Take this type of game, give it more content, triple the length, and don't mess up the pacing as much with those damn VHS tapes. But still, I can respect them for sticking out the development time for Slender: The Arrival for so long; hats off to them. That's very impressive, and it's clearly a labour of love for the developers, so in spite of my criticism, hats off to them absolutely; they clearly had an undying love for the source material, and I'm sure they did everything they could to make this experience the best it could possibly be.
So I'm going to give this game a 7/10 for what's here, but for what it should be, it's a 6/10.
7/10
At no point in this game does slender arrive. He was here before i was. Game dont make sense, Slender in game less than me, Only me arrive. New name Thee_dean.jpeg arrival
love this game but in a guilty pleasure kind of way. the new anniversary update is alright it enhances the graphics but the original vibes of this game is where its at. Not the most scary game and its kinda goofy at times and the second half of this game falls off a cliff in terms of quality. But overall its still charming and lovable and who doesnt love collecting mr slenders pages
A perfect Slenderman experience in my opinion and an old classic i loved as a kid and im really happy i get to come back to it almost ten years later and its been updated and remastered and not made a full new release 10/10

Slender: The Arrival – The Return of Slender Man's Terror
“A haunting journey that keeps you on edge, even a decade later.”
Slender: The Arrival is back with an Unreal Engine upgrade, enhancing its visual horror experience for a whole new level of terror. With this remake, the Slender Man, once a creepypasta icon, is revived with sharpened details, atmospheric tension, and unsettling jumpscares that play with your sanity.
Gameplay and Mechanics
The game retains its walking simulator roots with eerie explorations and intense encounters. You’re equipped only with a flashlight, tasked with finding notes and unraveling a disturbing story through haunted woods, deserted homes, and ominous mines. Each area immerses you in unease with every turn, but the core gameplay can feel repetitive, and the stamina mechanics lack clarity, which can be frustrating, especially in chase scenes where precision counts.
Performance and Visuals
While the new visuals are undoubtedly stunning, showcasing high-detail textures, the performance drop can be significant on some systems. Adjusting settings like [RESOLUTION] and enabling [NVIDIA DLSS] can help stabilize the frame rate, especially in areas dense with foliage. However, the fog effects and high real-time shaders can sometimes make visibility challenging, detracting from the experience.
Atmosphere and Sound Design
The atmosphere and sound are this game’s biggest assets. The oppressive silence and sudden bursts of unsettling audio create an intense psychological horror that few games manage to sustain. From the subtle ambient sounds in dark forests to the eerie quietness of the abandoned mine, the audio design brings a layer of terror that sticks with you long after you stop playing.
Final Thoughts
If you’re craving a quick, heart-pounding horror experience for the spooky season, Slender: The Arrival won’t disappoint. Though not without flaws, this enhanced version brings back the thrill of the original with more polish and an increased focus on fear. A perfect choice for horror fans ready for a blast from the past, but one that could benefit from additional gameplay diversity in future updates.

I don't know what's going on with the game, but I'm constantly having frame rate drops to the point where it's just not enjoyable to play anymore.
I remember playing this game when I was younger, and coming back to play it now is a nice piece of nostalgia. While it's nowhere near as iconic as some other horror games, I definitely think this one should be considered with some of the greats.

AYNEN AMK ARABAYI VURDUM, ORMANIN İÇİNE GİDEM AYNEN AGA
A spooky rural sightseeing in which you are pursued by a used-cars salesman from the wrong side of Carcosa..
It is the spooky season once more, and what better way to celebrate the coming of Samhain than to play spooky games with a nice cup of tea in the old homestead. First out is this remastered yet unplayed diamond in the rough. The titular Slenderman is a character that originates from a good old creepypasta and is more or less an amalgamation of generic creepy stuff gone rogue. As a concept this is pretty solid. With its smeared facelessness, a suit that screams post-capitalism and an affinity for being just out of view, the Slenderman is an exemplar of how the pursuit of money ruins everything nice in the world.. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this..

The game is more or less a fleshed out walking simulator with just a pinch of spooky horror game added to the dish. A series of mysterious disappearances, a creepy otherworldly character showing up as a portent of disaster and a plethora of mysterious mysteries to unravel during our rampant race towards an impending doom. Now the walking part is fine, and the ambiance and atmosphere in this game is really good, turning what could have been a boring stroll into a nightmarish romp through eerie landscapes, dilapidated buildings and desolated mines. The thing that makes it “more” of a game is the presence of antagonists that are out for your sanity/blood/soul, and part of the psychology of fear are really great, even if it is just the good old sensitization/jumpscare loop that is quite common in these types of games. I ran through it once and tried it out on hardcore only to back out again when I realized the main character turned from a decently conditioned human being into a chain smoking asthmatic as a means of upping the challenge. My recommendation, play it on easy/normal and do yourself a favor, the game does not get better from an even slower pacing.

In the end this is a horror game I recommend, especially on a spooky autumnal sale. The focus is mainly on the psychological bits with quite a few jumpscares along the way which suits me fine. Be aware that it is not a lengthy game, but it has a good story told through collected notes and visual storytelling, and should you need to you can always boot up a chapter to find the missing pieces to complete the puzzle.
This game has always been one of my favorites, and the 10th year update just makes it even scarier and better in every sense of the word. And as a fan of the original Eight Pages, this game really does it justice.
I didnt like it :(
I've always been a fan of this game since I was a young kid. This game looks like a massive improvement from the unity version, the graphics look beautiful and the atmosphere is really creepy, I've been scared a few times as well. Problem is that the gameplay is too repetitive at times and there's not that much replay value, not much to make people want to come back and play it again. Hopefully the updates will change that, I cant wait to see how the story of Slender The Arrival continues.
