If you die, there is never any load time; you can try again instantly! As your skills improve, you'll see that the game is not about winning. It's about experimenting to make the coolest action scenes that you can. Every design decision is made with that in mind, from the mouselook camera to the context-sensitive combat controls.
After completing the story modes, you can try out all the mods that players have created with the integrated editor! If you want to play as a human character in a city, or try a whole new campaign, or even fly around as a bat, there's probably already a mod that makes that happen.

Solid concept but the game is still what could be considered a tech demo. I advise waiting until more features are released, but given how long this game has been in development my expectations of them ever finishing it are growing doubtful.
not sure where the recent negative reviews are coming from, i've only played through the main campaign so far and honestly although it was short the game is pretty solid so far
the combat and movement is interesting, some of the up-close combat is a little confusing and honestly i've spent 90% of combat just jumping around and dropkicking everyone off of cliffs since that's way more fun in my opinion
definitely seems like one of those games that's better with mods, but the base game is aight imo
Im not a fan of the combat at all i gave it a honest try but it just doesnt feel great
i can see why people enjoy this though
I remember being so excited about this game, I wanted it when I was 13 and desperately wanted to get this game. I didn't have a steam account and didn't have money, so what does a kid with unrestricted internet access and little understanding of hardware do? I pirated the game of course!
Only there's the big problem of only having my parents very poor dell computer that was the equivalent of a potato, I didn't really understand what hardware even was beyond it was supposed to run on computers 3:<
So I played this game for at least 30 hours over and over again and played it at the smallest windowed resolution possible so I could actually play the game and didn't give a fuck, this game was awesome, I loved it.
So now I've bought it properly, played it some more and honestly?
This game fucks, but it has problems. Some big problems. Mainly with the actual combat system.
This game toes the line between third person action and fighting game but doesn't really know what to do with it, so you have punches, kicks, low kicks heavy attacks but then you also can run up walls to go flying in the air and jump kick everyone, turns out jump kicking is the strongest attack, nearly unstoppable, and will pretty much murder everyone which I feel does reflect the fact you're a giant bunny man pretty well, but leaves the actual gameplay rather shallow. There's blocking and parrying, even weapon throwing, but when you have one answer to all of these things and when the game get's harder it just means the ai will just perfectly use all these tools, so it nearly forces you to jump kick.
I love this game, I really do, and I'll keep playing it some more because I do love this. It's just that there's an obvious issue that needs some tuning to be perfect, and I suppose that's without mentioning that the game feels hardcore indie, like this is very clearly not a polished game and feels more like a project than a product. That doesn't mean the game isn't cool though.
game is good but when I play with mods on the sandbox levels it just keeps crashing (thanks for the reward :] )
Overgrowth is an exceptional game that brings a unique blend of gameplay elements together, which forms a sort of gameplay triangle that consists of combat, stealth, and parkour. Each level can incorporate any or all three aspects, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
Combat:
The combat system is straightforward yet effective. Players choose their attacks based on their distance from enemies and whether they are moving or standing still. The inclusion of a counter shoulder throw and blocking mechanics adds depth without complicating the controls. Notably, the game avoids frustrating locking-on camera systems; instead, your character momentarily targets the nearest enemy while attacking, which enhances fluidity in combat.
Fighting unarmed with martial arts is plenty of fun, but the game offers plenty of weapons to brutalize your enemies with. There are knives, one-handed swords, two-handed swords, staffs, spears, rapiers and plenty of other weapons on the workshop(Mostly based on the same types) that you can fight with. Players can pick up, drop, THROW or sheath(except for two-handers) the weapons at any time, making the player in control.
Stealth:
Stealth mechanics are simple and functional. Enemies can detect players based on sound and sight, encouraging strategic hiding behind anything that conceals your character. You can also take enemies out stealthily from behind by choking them out or cutting their throats. You can then drag the poor wretches out of plain sight to help keep their buddies from being alerted. The effectiveness of stealth largely depends on the level design, which can either enhance or detract from the experience.
Parkour:
Probably my favorite of the three main aspects in Overgrowth is the parkour mechanics, especially combined with stealth and/or combat. The freedom of movement in this game is top-notch; players can freely wall-run, ledge climb, and wall jump on any surface, though you may have difficulty on bumpy surfaces. The ragdoll physics add an extra layer of enjoyment, allowing for amusing midair flips and falls. Furthermore, with debug keys enabled, players can trigger ragdoll physics at will, leading to hilarious moments as characters trip and tumble.
Modding:
The modding capabilities surrounding Overgrowth is arguably its greatest strength. Whether you're playing with or creating mods yourself, the possibilities are endless. The in-game level editor is user-friendly once you familiarize yourself with it.(The official Wolfire Discord server is a great place to find guides or help if need be!) Implementing custom content(characters/props/weapons/music etc.) is easy depending on what your trying to do, as accessing the game's files to learn from existing examples is straightforward.
There are many mods that help you to make better levels/stories/campaigns, but one stand-out mod for modders is the Drika's Hotspot (DHS) mod. It introduces a scripting feature that allows you to script a multitude of behaviors into your custom levels and campaigns, adding so many more possibilities!
Side Notes:
Graphically, Overgrowth shows its age a little but remains decent overall with some really cool dynamic blood effects. While one could argue that the main campaign feels a bit short, the abundance of additional levels and campaigns(from the workshop or otherwise) adds endless hours of gameplay and makes it worthwhile for players who want to explore both the base game and its mods.
Conclusion:
Overall, Overgrowth offers a rich gaming experience that balances combat, stealth, and parkour seamlessly while providing extensive modding opportunities for creative players. Speaking from a point where I have 2,099 hours into this game at the time of posting, I hope this review has been helpful!
Aged like milk.
Visually, it's pretty good for it's time, but that's about all this game has going for it.
Everything else, from the story, to the platforming, to the fighting, to even the characters suck ass.
There are plenty of engine bugs that mess with the movement and fighting mechanics in ways they're not supposed to.
Countering is near impossible if you're not fighting a rabbit or a rat, even on the easiest difficulty, which only happens in a few different parts of the game.
The stealth aspect is okay, but if you're even seen once, then the enemy is locked on target until either you die or progress. There should be a system where if you're not seen for a certain amount of time, then the enemy stops looking for you. Like literally any other stealth game in the world. To top it off, when one enemy sees you, they all see you.
Sandbox levels were probably the best part of the game. In these levels, you're not progressing through the story, but instead, just exploring through levels that the developers included with the game. There's no objective other than look at the levels. Physically viewing the different levels was most definitely one of the few enjoyable parts of the game.
If I had to give a realistic price on what I think this game should be valued, anything above $3.50 would be overpriced.
The game is not really fun without mods. The mods make the game very fun and the sauce meter is pretty decent with no gore but only realistic blood simulation. Also maps are made by many modders all the time and they do a great job on all of them.
its a good game its combat movement and physics the physics are a solid 9/10 movement is about 8/10 fighting a solid 6/10 and im not complaining for how old this game is this is actually really good and once you figure out the controls you can really do alot of things in the game it is a good game and i got it on sale which is better and i think if you really like physics fighting games you should atleast try this game out.
I saw this on tiktok and decided to give it a try for myself installed a few mods and it was fun, not bad for a couple bucks
pretty lackluster story, but the combat is fun and the modding system is pretty easy to get the hang of. worth buying if you just want something to tinker with
5/10 - Every aspect of the game is simply "Decent" (besides the writing, which isn't that good). Combat is unique but ultimately isn't too complex, stealth is pretty good for the game, the parkour system is fun but yet again simple. I did not regret the time I spent completing the game in any way--far from it actually. It's just not something I found thrilling.
This "rabbit Prince of Persia" completely won me over. The game's unique concept of anthropomorphic animal warriors combined with fluid parkour mechanics creates an exhilarating experience.
The physics-based movement and fights feel raw and dynamic, making every encounter unpredictable. The minimalistic storytelling adds a mysterious charm, letting players uncover the world at their own pace.
I also tried the co-op mode - it felt like a pure rabbit brawler, and it was an absolute blast! Battling it out with friends as agile, kung-fu-fighting rabbits was hilariously fun and chaotic.
A special thanks to the developers for embracing the rabbit theme and crafting rabbit-centric quests - a true delight for bunny enthusiasts like me!
While Overgrowth may have its quirks and imperfections, its charm, originality, and bunny-loving dedication make it a standout experience. It's a must-play for anyone who loves action-packed, innovative games with a fluffy twist.
really fun and easy to learn mechanics really good pvp also
good game overall, the only thing i dislike is the short campaign.. took me about 3 hours only.
Å fun game that never fully reached its potential.
There are definitely things to love about overgrowth:
The anthropomorphizing of common animals into a faction-based medieval era society, the satisfying(albeit janky) combat, or the unfiltered violence and adult themes in its disappointingly shallow story.
I really enjoyed the weaponry. Rabbit pouncing on enemies might be a little overpowered at the base difficulty but i was OK with it because it is so fun. The additional campaigns, skirmish maps and versus mode are an added bonus here. Controller worked out of the box with minimal config too.
My only 3 complaints with the Overgrowth campaign are:
The story never really feels like it hits a climax, wasted potential.
The platforming and the combat are frustratingly inconsistent at times(although i mainly enjoyed both of them).
Lastly the short chapters with frequent load times can cause interest to wane.
This game really just suffers from being a low budget indie title from years ago, but it is still a darling from that era because it was so unique for its time. Combine that and the bad press surrounding the game's creator, then the other ratings make sense.
Personally I will still recommend the title if you can pick it up for $5 or less. If you're interested in this game you might enjoy it like I did, just don't have AAA or even AA quality expectations.
6.9/10
its very fun but i still havent gotten a hang of the combat (ive snapped more necks with dropkicks)
I imagine that many have hard feelings about this game because of it's tortured development, or recent events, but in actuality, it's great. Of course, I would recommend some modded maps, but other than that, it's a wonderful experience.
It's a very nice game. When I bought it it was ~30 bucks, which is a lot for a very short game (Almost finished the game in 3 hours, and I'm not a hardcore player). The graphics are stunting, and the gameplay is what makes it shine. You have half of the classic parkour stuff, and the best real time fight system I've seen in a game. You have an arsenal of moves that flows really well, you can use a lot of weapons. However, bear in mind that so do your enemies. When it was 30 bucks I would advise to buy it on sale, however now the game is in dying state. I don't except aditional content or community, but the game as is is quite good, altouhgh short.

It's a tentative thumbs up from me. The story is okay, the game play itself can be somewhat challenging, but that's more due to the control scheme than anything else really. The fighting is alright, not something that will have you thinking "Wow, this is impressive!", it will be more like "Wow, that was an easy cheese to find and now I don't have to worry about the challenge anymore.".
Price: 0/10. There is not enough engaging game play to justify a 20 dollar price tag.
Game play: 5.5/10. It is okay, not the greatest, but I have played much worse games than this.
Controls: 5/10. A little confusing at first, but it's doable when you figure it out.
Story: 6/10. It's okay, a little hard to follow, but it'll keep you somewhat engaged.
Replayability: 2/10: Once you beat it, it's not enough of a pull to bring you back into it.
Potential: 10/10. The idea of the game is there, it could have a really solid base for better content than what it currently has. A few tweaks here and there and a more engaging and challenging story with better controls and I could easily see myself spending the 20 dollars again, happily.
All in all, I would say that at it's current standing, it really isn't worth the 20 bucks to play the game. However, I would say that if the developer is still active with this game, spend it and hope that they do some more stuff like this, since this isn't a terrible start. Just gotta hope that the dev takes this in the right direction.
combat is very fun and the story is pretty interesting.
I cannot recommend this game enough.
It's one of the most visceral games i've played in a long time.
Funny Bnuuy revolution
The game on it's own is rather mediocre and lacking, but has a compelling and original concept. Sadly, combat feels rather shallow (since the only reliable way to play it is by jumping around and kicking enemies - normal combat is way too clunky and rather a step down compared to it's prequel Lugaru) and the game relies on community content to be fun. The story is also pretty lackluster, doesn't have a very deep lore to it, and instead of adding more content of their own into the game, the devs recommend you read a webcomic series that is short (3 short stories so far), looks unfinished, and barely adds anything to the world.
Besides that, the fact that this company is suing Valve because they just want more money left a sour taste in my mouth. It takes a lot of money to run a server infrastructure as huge as Steam and I don't think Valve is asking devs to pay more if they want things such as Steam Workshop support, a community hub, discussions, updates and direct Steam friends integration, so asking 30% off each sale is a fair price. Chances are, if Valve would lower their cut the developers would still keep the original price.
91.99 PLN for this abandonware game - now THAT's an extortion.
flawed masterpiece, basically a tech demo but a testament to the dedication and hardwork of indie devs
I really liked Overgrowth when it launched; imagine my surprise when I found out their developers turned into
shitty money-hungry clowns that would rather file a lawsuit against Valve claiming absolute BS than to keep making games, nice way of destroying your reputation, hope you don't come to regret it.
I will actively boycott any developer that supports this lawsuit forever, even if they win.
Don't waste your money on this game. I bought it years ago, and it's crazy how the devs still haven't added anything new nor improvements. And now I just found out they're suing Steam? Greedy and lazy, save your cash.
Good fun little game with very satisfying hand to hand mechanics
Well worth the 6 dollars I got it for on sale.
Honestly the only melee system in a game I've found entertaining. The ragdoll physics are a blast, makes it a bit less frustrating to die when you get to watch your character fall over something in a comical way. The included campaigns were fun and I found the stories captivating.
It was remarkably stable as well, didn't crash once throughout the entirety of my time in the campaigns.
Some people think it feels unfinished, and while I do think it's missing a little polish, I honestly didn't mind. Not every game has to be filed down into a perfect sphere, some of the best games of all time are extremely unpolished and janky. To be entirely fair though, I only just got the game, so my perspective is from someone who bought a finished product, rather than as an early access supporter.
Can't believe I slept on this game so long, had I known it was this fun I might even have bought it full price.
20 dollars and losing 30% of that? finish the game and it would be worth more. Removing this from my account, good try furry devs
I'm sure your reputation and future sales won't be negatively impacted by how annoying you're being. Surely people will still buy your games after hassling one of the most pro-consumer and pro-dev storefronts in existence.
Game is horrible, clunky combat, undetailed lazy enviroments, Boring enemies that repeat, god awful controls. devs dont give a shit about this game and its very clear. SAVE YOUR MONEY DO NOT BUY. I am refunding this garbage i hope my eyes never witness a game by these devs ever again.
finish the game instead of crying about the 30% that was taken away from you loser
Game feels like unfinished mess. I was playing it way before, when it was just a tech demo with fighting system. And you know what? They fucked up the fighting system so badly. Parrying is now feels like d20, because 50% of the time it does not work. Plot is fucked up too. It's worse than lvl1 side quests in MMOs, it's literally not needed here. And the useless dialoge window pops up after every death, it's annoying as fuck. The game feels like pre alpha that you've downloaded from itch for free, but not like a finished product, that you are selling for quite big money
This game is like ordering a pizza but instead of getting a pizza I got a ball of dough, a bucket of tomato sauce, a block of cheese, a cheese grater and directions to the nearest corner shop.
great game! really good sandbox and gore
i jump kick everyone i see.
this game is so fun you can fight you can do lots of stuff you shod try it trust me it is FUN
Really nice game overall i like it ,but i would love to see a sequel to it.
parkour is ass
cba but very good game
Ragdoll physics! :D
its a good game! i would recomend it for the blood but over gmod i got it simply for the blood system and one mod. but this is a good game!
Great combat system, a bit of an odd story, I think they should add human models into base game, would be a lot better.
BANGA
I bought this game back in 2017 and im kinda disappointed by the developers the early rag doll comabat was very impressive but the game really has not grown much in the last 7 years I also paid 40$ for this game on the hype train.
it good
good
good ah game ah
The game is OK. The mechanics are solid but quirks of physics and design choices often get in the way of fairness and fun. A lot of it can (and will, at some point inevitably) devolve into cheesing the enemy AI or the game mechanics/physics to progress.
If you like furry stuff get it on a sale.
