If you die, there is never any load time; you can try again instantly! As your skills improve, you'll see that the game is not about winning. It's about experimenting to make the coolest action scenes that you can. Every design decision is made with that in mind, from the mouselook camera to the context-sensitive combat controls.
After completing the story modes, you can try out all the mods that players have created with the integrated editor! If you want to play as a human character in a city, or try a whole new campaign, or even fly around as a bat, there's probably already a mod that makes that happen.

only play if you love animals
this is the best fighting game ive ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game holds a special place in my heart mostly because of Jacksepticeye's playthrough of it in 2014.
COOLEST COMBAT PHYSICS
rest of the engine is okay
I am so happy I stumbled upon this game. I have never heard about it before. It truly is an hidden gem and one of the best action stealth games I have played in years. The fun, the immersion and the freedom given to the player are absolute top notch and the game oozes charisma and scope. I have barely scratched the surface of this but I feel like this is the true spiritual successor of Tenchu I have been secretly waiting for for all these years. Thanks.
honestly the best game ive played yet. this is such a masterpiece i cant get enough of it, i just love the game its the best ragdoll game (in my opinion) anyways its on sale so BUY IT NOWWW
Funny game and very challenging
cool but when i spawned diamond sword it killed itself
Overgrowth story could have had more to it in my opinion, i was expecting good and cinematic boss fights but most of them could be one shotted easily. 7.7/10 in my opinion
This game has a special place in my heart. I still remember playing the alpha versions back in the day when I was a kid, I remember the alpha changelog videos, I remember SumLauncher, i remember all of it. On top of being a big part of my childhood, Overgrowth is still one of my favorite indie games, and I'm glad I bought the game and supported the devs. <3
peak bnuuy fighting game
after beating every campaign on hardcore mode, ive come to realize that any complaints i may have had a dozen hours ago vanished with my ineptitude. i now perceive reality .5 seconds into the future
great combat
ragdoll as a bunny pretty combat is good needs more movesets for it but the game is a 6.8/10
very fun and more fun
very fun with mods
the fighting and parkour is very fun the characters are very interesting this game is super fun and def worth the price
this is good i like it funny fun has like 4 story lines to follow workshop mods give you everything and its just perfect
not furry great mechanics
Overgrowth is a gorgeous game with fluid combat and smooth parkour. You’ll jump, kick, and fight through a beautiful world like a ninja rabbit—yes, you read that right. It’s a bit like if Assassin’s Creed and Bunnyhop had a baby. Hop to it!
It's funny that those bodies rolling down, but a little too difficult to beat down the enemies, injury system is quite realistic, all in a word,I like the fancy tricks!
It's GREAT
fun hard tho
good combat, better than greenvile (roblox game)
GOOD GAME
damn nice tech demo man
fungaem
A game that balances goofy physics with realism and accuracy, never did I think rabbits would actually dropkick something, but they can, and they do in here too, the fighting physics are smooth and realistic and they have a great story built in too. The story itself really adds weight to what you are fighting, they make sure you know when you are outmatched and that you are at a disadvantage, and you have to come up with different strategies to approach certain enemies and levels. The arenas are fun and each of them are unique and have their own risks and their own hazards. They don't just have rabbits, they have cats that are real quick, they have rats that are small, they have dogs that are slightly bigger, and wolves that are way bigger, and each enemy is dangerous in their own right, the wolves are made to feel like killing one is a difficult task, and the success is meaningful, the game is great to just zone out and kick the shit out of things, but the game is also great to explore physics and test out strategies for different scenarios. I have played this game a lot and have had it a real long time, the graphics are really nice for when it came out, the sandbox and mod options are vast and really fun, the body physics are some of the best I have seen, there isnt a health bar, you are beating down a skeleton, if you are cutting them, they are covering themselves and trying to defend and stop the bleeding, if you have a big enough sword or weapon, you will just slice through them, when you are sword fighting, you have to be smart about it, it isnt enough to just brute force your way through enemies, they can parry and defend and disarm and you have to come at those encounters with intelligence and a plan, and understanding. This game really holds up and its still fun, if you are new to it, you are gonna have a good time, if you are returning, there is enough variety in encounters to keep you on your toes, and enough mods to spice things up. Overall I would give this game an 8/10 and the only real way they could improve upon it, is to make a new one, with a new story, maybe slightly toned up graphics, but the music and sound design is great, the level design gets varied but I think it could be better. There are mods built in that help with that, but genuinely I think a sequel where they improve on just a few points, would make the game like a 9.5, for sure could be a contender for indie goty if they did a sequel.
even if people bothers you that you are a furry, it's a really good game. REALLY. Dont judge a book just by its cover
its good with mods
gameplay is pretty simple, really only consisting of parkour, combat, and stealth. none of them are particularly deep, but the combat is just so damn good despite how simple it is. the physics/skeletal based health system makes fighting feel so weighty and visceral and ive sunken dozens and dozens of hours into the arena mode alone just from how addicting it is. the "OHHH SHIT" feeling of getting kicked in the stomach and having your head bang against the wall and knock you out is so satisfying even on the receiving end. i would argue the arena mode itself justifies a purchase
the parkour is also pretty solid. there's nothing really special about it besides the giant jump distance and height you have by default. much like the combat it's simple yet engaging and satisfying. stealth is also largely the same. you can sneak around and grab enemies to choke them out or slit their throat before dragging them elsewhere so any patrolling enemies dont find them.
the entire game has a very "natural" feel to it as even the animations are somewhat physics-based. it lends to a very tactile and satisfactory feeling behind everything you do. your momentum increases as you run down slopes, your dropkicks turn explosive depending on your velocity, simple blows or tumbles can turn lethal if you hit your head in just the right way, etc. highly recommend for the combat alone.
I play this game solely for creating npc war and it's worth my money for me. (I bought this when it's on sale)
Kick da bunny, eat da carrot, ahhh now that's an angry bunny guy.
i need Active Ragdoll Physic
LEGANDERY game with an amazing story.
Amazing game. 9/10 Would reccomend, Awesome graphics, creative story for both therium and overgrowth, and pristeen combat. PLEASE BUY THIS GAME if you want a good 4+ hours of gameplay and fun plus MODS!!! :}
Honestly This game is one of the best games I've played.
Solid concept but the game is still what could be considered a tech demo. I advise waiting until more features are released, but given how long this game has been in development my expectations of them ever finishing it are growing doubtful.
not sure where the recent negative reviews are coming from, i've only played through the main campaign so far and honestly although it was short the game is pretty solid so far
the combat and movement is interesting, some of the up-close combat is a little confusing and honestly i've spent 90% of combat just jumping around and dropkicking everyone off of cliffs since that's way more fun in my opinion
definitely seems like one of those games that's better with mods, but the base game is aight imo
Im not a fan of the combat at all i gave it a honest try but it just doesnt feel great
i can see why people enjoy this though
I remember being so excited about this game, I wanted it when I was 13 and desperately wanted to get this game. I didn't have a steam account and didn't have money, so what does a kid with unrestricted internet access and little understanding of hardware do? I pirated the game of course!
Only there's the big problem of only having my parents very poor dell computer that was the equivalent of a potato, I didn't really understand what hardware even was beyond it was supposed to run on computers 3:<
So I played this game for at least 30 hours over and over again and played it at the smallest windowed resolution possible so I could actually play the game and didn't give a fuck, this game was awesome, I loved it.
So now I've bought it properly, played it some more and honestly?
This game fucks, but it has problems. Some big problems. Mainly with the actual combat system.
This game toes the line between third person action and fighting game but doesn't really know what to do with it, so you have punches, kicks, low kicks heavy attacks but then you also can run up walls to go flying in the air and jump kick everyone, turns out jump kicking is the strongest attack, nearly unstoppable, and will pretty much murder everyone which I feel does reflect the fact you're a giant bunny man pretty well, but leaves the actual gameplay rather shallow. There's blocking and parrying, even weapon throwing, but when you have one answer to all of these things and when the game get's harder it just means the ai will just perfectly use all these tools, so it nearly forces you to jump kick.
I love this game, I really do, and I'll keep playing it some more because I do love this. It's just that there's an obvious issue that needs some tuning to be perfect, and I suppose that's without mentioning that the game feels hardcore indie, like this is very clearly not a polished game and feels more like a project than a product. That doesn't mean the game isn't cool though.
game is good but when I play with mods on the sandbox levels it just keeps crashing (thanks for the reward :] )
Overgrowth is an exceptional game that brings a unique blend of gameplay elements together, which forms a sort of gameplay triangle that consists of combat, stealth, and parkour. Each level can incorporate any or all three aspects, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
Combat:
The combat system is straightforward yet effective. Players choose their attacks based on their distance from enemies and whether they are moving or standing still. The inclusion of a counter shoulder throw and blocking mechanics adds depth without complicating the controls. Notably, the game avoids frustrating locking-on camera systems; instead, your character momentarily targets the nearest enemy while attacking, which enhances fluidity in combat.
Fighting unarmed with martial arts is plenty of fun, but the game offers plenty of weapons to brutalize your enemies with. There are knives, one-handed swords, two-handed swords, staffs, spears, rapiers and plenty of other weapons on the workshop(Mostly based on the same types) that you can fight with. Players can pick up, drop, THROW or sheath(except for two-handers) the weapons at any time, making the player in control.
Stealth:
Stealth mechanics are simple and functional. Enemies can detect players based on sound and sight, encouraging strategic hiding behind anything that conceals your character. You can also take enemies out stealthily from behind by choking them out or cutting their throats. You can then drag the poor wretches out of plain sight to help keep their buddies from being alerted. The effectiveness of stealth largely depends on the level design, which can either enhance or detract from the experience.
Parkour:
Probably my favorite of the three main aspects in Overgrowth is the parkour mechanics, especially combined with stealth and/or combat. The freedom of movement in this game is top-notch; players can freely wall-run, ledge climb, and wall jump on any surface, though you may have difficulty on bumpy surfaces. The ragdoll physics add an extra layer of enjoyment, allowing for amusing midair flips and falls. Furthermore, with debug keys enabled, players can trigger ragdoll physics at will, leading to hilarious moments as characters trip and tumble.
Modding:
The modding capabilities surrounding Overgrowth is arguably its greatest strength. Whether you're playing with or creating mods yourself, the possibilities are endless. The in-game level editor is user-friendly once you familiarize yourself with it.(The official Wolfire Discord server is a great place to find guides or help if need be!) Implementing custom content(characters/props/weapons/music etc.) is easy depending on what your trying to do, as accessing the game's files to learn from existing examples is straightforward.
There are many mods that help you to make better levels/stories/campaigns, but one stand-out mod for modders is the Drika's Hotspot (DHS) mod. It introduces a scripting feature that allows you to script a multitude of behaviors into your custom levels and campaigns, adding so many more possibilities!
Side Notes:
Graphically, Overgrowth shows its age a little but remains decent overall with some really cool dynamic blood effects. While one could argue that the main campaign feels a bit short, the abundance of additional levels and campaigns(from the workshop or otherwise) adds endless hours of gameplay and makes it worthwhile for players who want to explore both the base game and its mods.
Conclusion:
Overall, Overgrowth offers a rich gaming experience that balances combat, stealth, and parkour seamlessly while providing extensive modding opportunities for creative players. Speaking from a point where I have 2,099 hours into this game at the time of posting, I hope this review has been helpful!
Aged like milk.
Visually, it's pretty good for it's time, but that's about all this game has going for it.
Everything else, from the story, to the platforming, to the fighting, to even the characters suck ass.
There are plenty of engine bugs that mess with the movement and fighting mechanics in ways they're not supposed to.
Countering is near impossible if you're not fighting a rabbit or a rat, even on the easiest difficulty, which only happens in a few different parts of the game.
The stealth aspect is okay, but if you're even seen once, then the enemy is locked on target until either you die or progress. There should be a system where if you're not seen for a certain amount of time, then the enemy stops looking for you. Like literally any other stealth game in the world. To top it off, when one enemy sees you, they all see you.
Sandbox levels were probably the best part of the game. In these levels, you're not progressing through the story, but instead, just exploring through levels that the developers included with the game. There's no objective other than look at the levels. Physically viewing the different levels was most definitely one of the few enjoyable parts of the game.
If I had to give a realistic price on what I think this game should be valued, anything above $3.50 would be overpriced.
The game is not really fun without mods. The mods make the game very fun and the sauce meter is pretty decent with no gore but only realistic blood simulation. Also maps are made by many modders all the time and they do a great job on all of them.
its a good game its combat movement and physics the physics are a solid 9/10 movement is about 8/10 fighting a solid 6/10 and im not complaining for how old this game is this is actually really good and once you figure out the controls you can really do alot of things in the game it is a good game and i got it on sale which is better and i think if you really like physics fighting games you should atleast try this game out.
I saw this on tiktok and decided to give it a try for myself installed a few mods and it was fun, not bad for a couple bucks
pretty lackluster story, but the combat is fun and the modding system is pretty easy to get the hang of. worth buying if you just want something to tinker with
5/10 - Every aspect of the game is simply "Decent" (besides the writing, which isn't that good). Combat is unique but ultimately isn't too complex, stealth is pretty good for the game, the parkour system is fun but yet again simple. I did not regret the time I spent completing the game in any way--far from it actually. It's just not something I found thrilling.
This "rabbit Prince of Persia" completely won me over. The game's unique concept of anthropomorphic animal warriors combined with fluid parkour mechanics creates an exhilarating experience.
The physics-based movement and fights feel raw and dynamic, making every encounter unpredictable. The minimalistic storytelling adds a mysterious charm, letting players uncover the world at their own pace.
I also tried the co-op mode - it felt like a pure rabbit brawler, and it was an absolute blast! Battling it out with friends as agile, kung-fu-fighting rabbits was hilariously fun and chaotic.
A special thanks to the developers for embracing the rabbit theme and crafting rabbit-centric quests - a true delight for bunny enthusiasts like me!
While Overgrowth may have its quirks and imperfections, its charm, originality, and bunny-loving dedication make it a standout experience. It's a must-play for anyone who loves action-packed, innovative games with a fluffy twist.
