hands down the best LEGO game to date, and easily one of the most in depth Marvel games out there. The inclusion of 180 heroes, villains AND anti-heroes whilst maintaining a solid comic styled story to fit them all into is a blessing for any fan. For me this game is pure comfort, i'm a die hard marvel fan so my opinion is automatically biased but this game simply ticks all the right boxes for me. The replay value is 1000000% there. The fact this game can be in excess of like £3 on sale is a genuine steal. Absolute no brainer for me, what a game.
Very fun to play, easy to play, all about marvel, and a very fun story!
One of the best Lego games oat. I have loved this game ever since the first time i played it back in 2016. I even remember that I thought the ice dude was the coolest. It has some very good boss fights, and its so cool to be able to play as your favorite marvel characters such as spiderman and deadpool personally. I would say this game requires some brains because some levels had me stumped for an hour or two but in the end i prevailed.
8/10
A man has fallen into the river in Lego City! Start the new rescue helicopter.
HEY!
Build the helicopter and off to the rescue. Prepare the lifeline, lower the stretcher, and make the rescue.
The new Emergency Collection from Lego City!
once again, tt games has been able to add to the bloat of previous games while making major ambitions clear and failing at them due to a lack of effort.
TL;DR: controls like an early 3D game, think superman64 or gex64. tt games haven't figured out cameras yet either, reminding me of the a sonic game i played on my friends dreamcast.
pros:
you no longer have to go to a special place to be allowed to go through a absolutely needlessly bloated roster one character at a time to be able to buy new characters. a much needed feature for the last few games.
cons:
the camera takes 10 seconds to have a full 360 spin. so if you need to look behind you in this 3D action beat-em-up, just know that you have time for a drink of water before you're done looking behind you. stay hydrated.
also it's clear the devs knew for a fact that there would never be a reason to look under you as you're flying, because they actively lock you out of being able to do much of anything with the camera when flying.
the controls are the exact same for previous games with a variable or two changing how fast or high you can go. next to no polish was given to the new movement mechanics of free roam flying. so when you're flying like a jet with ironman, you press x to increase your angle of assent, and b to decrease, with the only option to fly level being to let go of all controls, stop in mid air, wait a second so the game knows you didn't slip, and then press forward again to gain full speed 3 seconds later again. you will have to master long press x, tap b until mostly level, tap x and b repeatedly to mostly maintain level flight while repeatedly slamming the stick to the side that you want to turn in because it doesn't have incremental turning. also, you'll naturally want to pull back on the stick to stop since pushing forward has you go forward. when at full speed this does nothing.
jean grey, susan storm, and magneto can't fly in game, only in cut scenes. they can hover off the ground just enough to not be able to pass the smallest of steps or curbs. so they're useless in the open world other than when their power is needed for a moment.
on the computer version, there is no way to skip any cut scenes. if you try to find a way to do so the lego gaming community will tell you that you don't deserve to play this game unless you're willing to watch every cut scene every time and mock you for suggesting that you don't want to watch the same cut scene 5 times in a row.
on the computer version there is no way to directly choose your character if the character has multiple skins. from watching youtube play throughs you can press a button to move through which ironman you want to be (42 is the only one worth being that i found) so when choosing ironman on pc, you get to wait while it autoscrolls through all of the options and you have one second to select your option or you have to wait for it to autoscroll through all options again. there's a "competition" of worst ui designs people could come up with back in the early 00's. the basics of this design was literally one of the submissions to that contest.
using a controller for the computer version is almost pointless. the plethora of escort missions and races make that clear. the sticks controls will be divided into three sensitivity zones. no movement, slow movement (a slow or sneaking walk), and running. whether you want it to or not, running will automatically turn to sprinting in 3 seconds when you're in the open world. useful when point a and b are far away from each other, controls worse than Gex64 when you're 4 seconds away from point b. turning is a boolean value (is or is not happening, no in between). a 90 degree turn will take 2.5 seconds when going full speed and then you have to stabilize to center, tougher to do when you aren't allowed to control the camera in any meaningful way.
going back to flight for a second, it's fun flying as anyone on the streets because every time you need to make a turn you have to stop completely and turn and start again. this obviously kills the momentum and the fun.
there isn't a single fix for any of these problems with mods either. 99% of mods are new skins, mainly spider-man.
If you've played a Lego game, its your standard Lego slapstick humour and fun gameplay, but with Marvel characters. I'd recommend it for anyone who just wants a relaxing game. My more indepth but not really because the game doesn't have too much depth (its pretty repetitive) review is below.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes was an incredibly fun ride. 100%'d it in one 4 day weekend (probably could have been sooner, but over all 30 hrs for a 100% run. I grabbed it on sale for $4 Canadian. Well worth the $4.
While the game is definitely intended for children, and I know a lot of parents play the game co-op with their kids, as an adult I still found it fun to play single player. Nothing is overtly difficult. It definitely is a collectathon outside of the main story which by itself is probably max 10 hrs with cutscenes. However I dont mind a good collectathon, and a good chunk of the collection related stuff are for characters which just make replaying missions or doing side quests much more entertaining when comboing the different characters. You do have to do story + free roam to fully unlock/collect everything, as well as numerous side quests to unlock everything.
The Achievements are really doable. The one that might seem the most absurd (but isn't) is the "Collect 1 billion studs". But for that, you use the stud multiplier cheats, which you get by doing side missions and unlocking Deadpool bricks. I got 1 Billion studs before even finishing half of the 500+ combined collectibles (bricks, stan lee, minifig, characters, vehicles, etc.).
Combat is super basic. Its Lego, its pretty much Jump/fly, press 2 buttons for different types of attacks (or in some cases 1 button attack, 1 button special character related ability like turning invisible), and change character/transform.
If you like Lego games, and like Marvel, it is definitely a fun game. A nice "palette cleanser" so to speak between other games. Wouldn't recommend it at full price, as it is a very old game (11 years I believe at time of writing) and is often on sale for quite cheap.
I don't wanna have to do this..
Unfortunately, this game does not run at all. I have literally tried everything, but after 0.2 hours of leaving the game open on and off, it doesn't work. I can't give this a good review unless the game actually runs, and I can't believe this but I have to refund it.
This game was my childhood, and I wish I didn't have to do this.
Very enjoyable with a great open-world. I wish you were able to explore more of New York, but Manhattan is great fun on it's own. The story is a bit bland in my opinion, but I got through it and am now having a good time in NYC. 10/10 *will unlock core childhood memories through the skydive theme*
Fix the frame-rate limiter! The game is set to 60hz, yet I am getting anywhere from 500 to over 4000 fps, causing my 6750xt to stay at 99% utilization constantly and run hot for NO REASON on dang a lego game. Gameplay is fine, my daughter likes it.
amazing game never was bored playing it and i finally 100% it after playing it on my xbox 360 when i was like 7 saw it was on sale and got motived to finish the game and it was amazing i most defitly recommed this game
This was a genuinely fun game, i was planning to obtain this game through other methods, glad i didnt, its so much more worth it this way. Really fun for kids and adults too! Planning to 100% every lego game aswell.
good story , good graphics , good choice of characters and free play , and overall worth it
Prolly the GOAT of lego games. Fueled my childhood and I have so many great memories from this. FIRE!!!!!
Not bad, especially if you're a fan of the Fantastic 4 or X-Men. Flying races are a nightmare, part of why I only got to 98.9%, but I am content. At least you can beat up quest givers with power moves if you want to (this was removed in later games). Overall, not bad.
its a game for all ages !!! you never get tired of playing Lego video games in any format
Very good, very nostalgic game, highly recommend.
very cool has boss fights mass destruction and is good game for people who are avenger fans
Very fun, hilariously glitchy, and so much content for a $20 game! Highly recommend.
One of the absolute best LEGO games ever made (and one of the best Marvel games ever made) featuring a really solid selection of characters and vehicles...somehow to this day the only LEGO Marvel game to feel fully fleshed out character-wise due to the inclusion of the Fantastic Four and X-Men (and their villains). Some really good level design and an iconic soundtrack, plus some fun animations and voice acting. A bit buggy sometimes, some of the tiny frustrations in the levels are janky at times, and the custom character creator is mediocre, but the overall vibes are comfy and engaging. So much love for the Marvel Universe in this game. A blast to 100% complete too!
Best game of ALL TIME.
100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10
worth the money really good game :) 10/10
I would recommend this, but there are...so many unskippable cutscenes, even when doing freeplay it is a slog to gather collectables, this includes the main menu cutscene which forces you to sit and wait for a good 2 mins for it to play every single time you start the game.
100% - 29 hrs
Achievements - 45
Review - 8/10
Difficulty - 2/10
Hardest Achievement - I'm Always Angry
ONE OF THE BEST LEGO VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME ! ! !
Such a worst game cant do anything in it and it is very hard.
I CANT GET PAST THE FIRST LEVEL BECAUSE I CANT THROW THE THING AT SANDMAN. I HAVE PLAYED FOR THREE HOURS AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN PAST THE FIRST LEVEL!
Childhood LEGO game. Love setting fire on hot electrifying girls.
I've been playing since around 2016/17 on the XBOX360 and to finally get it on PC is great! I love how it supports my display at 1440p and plays insanely well with my computer! The DLC is also very good, this is my first time with it and my favorite characters from it are A-Bomb and Dark Phoenix. Overall rating is a 10/10.
i really enjoy this game
in short got this game on sale since i had it when i was a kid and i remember not being able to beat the silver surfer race but now i 100% it got all achievements and surprisingly it wasn't really repetitive i like the original story and the game isnt really mcu based it does have some minor references but i just really like how they put in the more obscure characters that not everyone knows like howard the duck i really like how they added howard the duck.
-game is fun
-story is pretty fun
-side missions can be mixed
-has howard the duck
classic.my favorite lego game next to indiana jones.works great on oled deck 90fps for main missions solid 60-70 in the open world.great story.so much better than the 2nd one because you can play with xmen in this and theyre part of story
Been playing this game on xbox since it came out, so happy to see it on steam.
The first time I played this game was with a friend a long time ago. I entered the game with the missions having already been completed and was just able to explore New York. I was marveled (haha) at how much space there was to explore. I mained Spider-Man and had a lot of fun swinging through the city and playing hide and seek, especially with Ant-Man. Years later, I got the game and played it a little on the PS4, and some years after I am playing it on PC. I think this is a wonderful game and absolutely worth it. So many details, so much to do and explore. I do hate that the game stutters on PC occasionally though, with no fixed solution. The game also randomly froze and refused to close no matter what method, forcing me to restart the PC. I wish the issues people have brought up would get resolved for PC but I understand it's difficult.
i really like the story of this game and the detail of the lego very impressive would recommend
Great game, incredible roster of characters from Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic 4, Defenders, Inhumans and so much more! The Lego Marvel bundle goes on sale alot, which includes all three Lego Marvel games and all their respective DLC for a great price. (Like 86% off) This game, like all three Marvel games, are full of that LEGO game magic mixed in with easter eggs and references for Marvel fans to enjoy. My one "complaint" is the flight controls. Most LEGO games have altitude changes with the joystick, this one uses the A and B (X-BOX controls, it's jump and special). This makes flying difficult, especially for races. This is because you boost when you didn't mean to, not fly high enough at a fast enough past or the worst one, you fall out of the sky. It takes time to get used to, but it is beatable with controller. (Not a keyboard guy). I've beaten this game, and most franchised LEGO games on controller, so I promise you it is possible.
Honestly, I cannot recommend this game enough, especially to Marvel fans. There's so much content!! You get hours and hours worth of gametime from both the story and the extra content. Being able to freely run around New York doing little mini missions for character unlocks and gold bricks while stealing cars and destroying city property makes me feel like i'm playing GTA for kids lol. Speaking of which, the amount of characters you can play as in this game is HUGE. If you have a favourite Marvel character, they are probably in this game. Not to mention to character designer if you want to make your own person to play as!
The dialogue is lots of fun and has that Marvel charm to it. It makes cutscenes entertaining and really amused me during gameplay. It's probably just the Marvel nerd in me but seeing all these characters interact with each other in the same universe just makes me so happy. I love the idea that they're all besties and team up to defeat evil every now and then. The whole concept is so funny and it works really well in a Lego game. I don't think this could be pulled off in any other context. 10/10
game keeps bugging out and crashing every single time, i dont want to play this anymore even though i like the game and have played it on my ps3. this pc port sucks ass
It's literally my childhood, brings me back soooo many memories. The open world is amazing, especially when you're Iron man and just roaming around the city. Although there's quite a lot of bugs going on, but most of the time it wont matter much. If you're looking to play a lego game in steam, batman 2 and marvel is the best choice. I don't know much about lotr, didn't play that game b4. Overall amazing game, epic!
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is great, I've played it before on Xbox One.
It's a simple game as are other LEGO titles, but the gameplay is decent enough, there's a lot of content and it's very cheap.
With that out of the way, I cannot possibly recommend the PC port due to severe stuttering.
Running on an SSD doesn't help, and my system is beefy enough to handle this with ease (RTX 3060Ti, R7 5700X and 32GB of DDR4 3200MT/s CL16).
This can be fixed for the most part by using SpecialK, but no game should require third party software to work properly.
This game was released 11 years ago, they had more than enough time to fix it.
Do keep in mind that this problem only exists in the PC port of the game.
This game is pure nostalgia. I've played this game a long time ago, and i remember the fun time i had playing it, now that I play it again its just amazing. Good job to the game developers for making this masterpiece.
It's a decent kids game and a flashback to when the MCU wasn't objectively awful.
This game did NOT age well also did they base Kirikos personality off of spiderman bec why is he sooo sassy and a wannabe mean girl, like slay IG?
After having 100% this game I can say I would recommend it. However I would say the newer lego marvel games are probably better in terms of quality. I had this game on Xbox 360 when it first came out so I decided to start playing the old Lego games again and see if they were still good and I can say this one still is.
It's clean simple game for adults and younger players.
Number 2 is better, even in spite of losing the X-Men and other characters. The flight mechanic on PC is difficult and finicky.
Very good game especially if you're a LEGO fan, I would 100% recommend it, fun fact; this is the ONLY LEGO game with Deadpool!! So if you're a fan of our favorite violent inappropriate Anti-Hero and LEGO, this game is for you! Granted you do have to play a LOT of the game first!
great game amazing for its time and it has heros love deadpool and stan lee
One of the Best LEGO game ever created. Great levels, great side mission etc.
I defindly recommend this
10/10
when the lady npc in the open world says "watch it buddy" while I run around as the hulk it makes my pants warm
I would recommend yes overall for the normal fights and story stuffs. BUT MY GOD STAY AWAY FROM THE RACES!!!
I use rewasd, special k to get this running for a normal pc player on keyboard and mouse (controller is pretty bad on here as well). Off the bat, the push buttons seem to work fine, the biggest issue this game suffers from is the weird random speed/strength of the joystick pitch and yaw (x/y). Its either too sensitive or too sluggish. You can get by most of the ground combat ok but the frustrations shines when trying to do the races and some of these take places in the air or the ground. In the air... trying to hit the circles require a mix of speeding to get from ring to ring and slowing down for turns. When you're going fast, theres no such thing as turns, and when you're slow, you can fend off anything from 8 directions simultaneously. Not to mention that stupid remote control mini race on top of the building!! You go from normal controls to top down tank controls and the input are sometimes detected. It's stupid how challenging they want these races to feel yet the controls are some of the worst.
At the end of the day, you can do most everything on pc - skip the races unless you like the torture.
My daughter said to say "it was amazing and she liked the characters and how realistic the game was." it made me happy to have time gaming with my favorite princess. Thank you for this work.
