“Who needs friends?”
~Yuriko Omega
At this point, I guess, we all knew what to expect from the expansion. Kane's Wrath already showed us that Zero Hour expansion to C&C Generals is used as some sort of a gold standard now and with RA3 being more Generals than Red Alert... Like I said, it was easy to guess what we'll get. Some new units, a new campaign with some new story in it, and, of course, the new mode to play. One of them “challenges”. Here's a thing, though. While on consoles C&C3 had pretty much exactly what we had in Zero Hour, on PCs it introduced us to a new mode called Global Conquest. Which was some sort of a mix between our usual C&C stuff and the grand strategy. Somewhat akin to what we had in, say, Total War series. Expand your territories on global map and then, when it'll be time to fight, do things in action-packed real-time manner. Which, again, was our usual C&C stuff.
The problem with Global Conquest was that... It was clunky as heck. Came with some really cheap aftertaste too. It was more like a proof of concept than something to be enjoyed for years ahead. It wasn't an experience to make you return to it again and again, but at the same exact time, it made you want for something like that. Only better. And after the next game in the series came out, it was only natural to expect that. Unfortunately... No. It didn't happen.
See, RA3 was all about consoles. Up to the point where it felt more like consoles-oriented spin-off than a real deal. You know, Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution and stuff. I don't think EA were the only ones to blame for that (it was time when everything went cross-platform, which made huge impact on PC gaming), but still, that's how it was. Also, EA Los Angeles did a pretty good job, so, it's not like I'm complaining or something. At least, when it's about the main game. Because “challenge mode” in the Uprising is kinda... Disappointing.
I mean, it's just that. The same ol' thing from Generals. Except even longer, since to finish the challenge here, you'll need to play through whooping 50 missions. Those won't be some long and complicated missions, but still, those are 50 unique missions with the unique difficulties and limitations. See, the thing about the “challenge mode” here is that you start with only some basic units in your disposal, and in order to unlock more you need to... Well, play the damn thing. Every mission unlocks one certain unit for one certain faction (you're free to choose which faction to use before every mission). Don't expect just going for the strongest suckers out there, though. You will be able to choose, but your selection is limited and high ranking missions will only unlock after you'll be done with the early ones. In order to beat the challenge and see the cutscene (in which Kelly Weaver, the spokeslady for the FutureTech Corporation will personally congratulate you), though, you'll need to finish all 50. Good luck.
Wait, wait, wait... What the heck is FutureTech Corporation? Well, those are our new baddies. And, as their name suggest, they can manipulate time. You're representing them in the “challenge mode”, while in campaign you'll face them in battle. Can make you think of good ol' Yuri when you read about it, but the thing is... FutureTech Corp. feels rather... unfinished. Yes, they'll freeze time during campaign, making you all “OMG! I can't move, yet they're attacking me!”, but aside from that? There's nothing really interesting about them. Unlike Yuri's forces, they're not a playable faction, while in the “challenge mode” you won't even think about them. Like, at all. Just because instead of having their own, they're stealing technologies from the others. Rather smart, yet completely unsatisfying workaround, I must say. EA hired some new actors to make “challenge mode” more fun (WWF / WWE fans would instantly recognize Hall of Famer Ric Flair), but still... Meh. Let's get back to campaign, though. Except they don't call it that in the Uprising.
Instead, we've got a bunch of so-called “mini-campaigns”. And those sure are mini. The factions got only three missions each and only Soviets got four. For whatever reason (insert that ages-old meme about USSR here). Thankfully, there are not just three factions now. No, FutureTech is not playable, I already told you so. The thing is – EA Los Angeles decided to throw in some experiments. Remember C&C: Sole Survivor? Nah, who am I kidding. Nobody remembers Sole Survivor nowadays. It was a weird and failed experiment. Long story short, it was an online-only deathmatch game, in which players were able to pick up one of the units from the original C&C and... Well, title kinda says it all. By controlling a single unit and picking up crates, we were supposed to exterminate the others and survive. The game supported up to 50 players online (which was huge, since it was only 1997), but... Let's just say it didn't work out. The whole thing felt like playing one of those commando missions against other people. In other words, without any additional polish, it just felt way too clunky. Now, why am I telling you that? Because that's pretty much what EA Los Angeles did here, in this expansion.
Don't expect any online, though (I'll return to that in a moment). While revolving around Yuriko (Japan's commando unit from the main game), the fourth campaign feels... Almost Diablo-like, really. And thanks to how core mechanics are way less rough than what we had in 90s, I must say, I had my fun playing it. You want me to compare it with something? Think of those Kerrigan mission packs from StarCraft II. You know, Nova Covert Ops. Except while Nova Covert Ops will end up having nine missions across three DLC packs, Yuriko's story only has three. And honestly, that's totally not enough.
That's just the thing about the campaigns here. Those just aren't enough. Sure, it's 13 missions in total (which, technically, makes it longer than what we had in Kane's Wrath) and for the very first time in history we did get the expensive actors for the expansion (Malcolm McDowell is one of the new faces), but... You know. Still not enough. What's interesting to mention, though, is a lack of co-op. Or any multiplayer. Not because it's dead this time, but because it was never a thing. You may think it's because they wanted to make a nod to old-school C&C (forcing AI companion on us in RA3 even in solo mode did feel pretty weird after all), but the truth is... They've just messed up quite badly here. I'm talking about balance. They totally overdid it with crazy-ass spectacular aspect, thanks to which balancing things out for multiplayer was just... In other words, no multiplayer for us this time.
At the end of the day, Uprising is a pretty weird thing. New units are sure crazy and spectacular, but there's no multiplayer, while the campaign is way too short, while “challenge mode” is a bit too repetitive to call it the main dish. Yuriko's story is a nice touch, but again, it's too short and... I dunno. In a way, the Uprising feels lost. Forced even. Like nobody really wanted to work on it and in the end devs just put some unfinished things together and called it a day. I would not go as far as downvoting it, but... Just make sure not to expect much, OK? This here is more like a cute bonus for those who enjoyed the main game. Not good enough? Sure. But it counts. I guess. Let's just hope they were saving their efforts for the next big thing in the series, right? *SIGH* Who am I kidding? See you in Tiberian Twilight review.
Where's the rest of it?
Soviet power supreme
One of my favorite strategy games in terms of units, missions, story and extra content such as the commanders challenges (they are aggravating at times but still fun.
just impossible stuff to do
fun RTS
More Dog Shit
It's like Zero Hour for C&C General. Great improvement and fun as heck.
Good game
I think Red Alert 3 is a great game. For someone who grew up playing Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge it's nice to see the series get a revamp. I would hands down recommend this game to anyone that likes RTS games and anyone that wants to have a fun time. Since I grew up with Red Alert 2 this one isn't as good, just from a nostalgia perspective, but it is pretty close. If any of you are a fan of this series hit the like button if you want to see red alert 2 get a remastered version.
Two Words to describe this game.
- Sex Sells
Very nice game. Works well with Proton.
Classic Game that refuses to die.... Lets check...
Will you die?
Yuet! I vil not die
Did not like this one. One campaign is some Diablo or what, the other are over engineered and feels strange. The new units feels strange and useless.

bro they're never making another one of these its sad
This standalone expansion was .... amusing. Weird but amusing.
There are 4 campaigns here plus the whole challange mode but the campaigns have 3 missions each (except the Soviet one which has 4) so the main story can be completed quickly.
I don't really like the whole 1 storyline is cannon sort of thing in games when there are multiple factions having completely different endings but this universe should never be taken seriously so who cares. The most interesting part of this game is the Yoriko Campaign. This is some insane Japanese Schoolgirl Anime parody type of sh*t that I had a blast playing trough. Instead of the other 3 campaigns this one should have been longer and would make this game very unique in the C&C franchise.
New units are introduced. They are good for the most part, some are a little broken and break the game (techically speaking).
The game has INSANE frame drops on any machine when particle effects are introduced - mostly from the units using freezing equipment. Holy hell this brought back to me a lot of memories playing RTS games on my 1st PC. Now I question if it was my PCs fault or just the games awful code....
Still the game was good and even though I got bored at the end with the commander challange I still give it a pass, mostly due to the 3 missions in the Yoriko campaign.

GAME GOOD
Good game. i like one...
Naval heavy but it is a fun game.

Uprising retains the core game-play mechanics while introducing new units and challenging missions. The Commander's Challenge mode, adds significant replay value, demanding strategic thinking and resource management.
As of December 2024, Uprising runs smoothly on modern systems. To optimize your experience, launch the game in windowed mode using the -win directive, adjust the resolution in-game, and optimize your graphics presets.

Great stim for me, as an autistic person
Classic
The is the last Command & Conquer game worth playing so far.
Good
Red Alert 3: Uprising is a continued expansion following the aftermath of the original game. Like any expansion, there are new units and campaigns. Though there is not much to it, the main aspect is the challenge missions. I'd recommend buying this if you want to master your skills in real time strategy.
Solid expansion to Red Alert. Only wish that they supported it for a bit after launch
3 different factions build differently. One faction uses the harvester (prospector) to create expansion zones in order to expand the base. Another faction builds similar to Company of Heroes or Dawn of War (instant build on the battle field). Another faction is similar to Starcraft's Protoss building.
Another faction requires leveling up by unlocking (similar to Company of Heroes 2 Germans).
This game is not realistic at all! A flying girl with telekinetic powers? Ok, that I can believe.
But a game where Japanese do not offer sushi to you, their lord commander? TRAVESTY!!
very engaging and fast paced, with some new content and stories, the continuation from the Red Alert 3 Vanilla. Although it's quite sad that players can't have an in-game commanders to fight and ally with, which is the staple of Red Alert 3. The commander challenges was really challenging and perfect to train new players who was unfamiliar with the fast pace. very recommended after finishing the base game.
STEAMDECK (LINUX) TESTED WORKING
NB: Uprising has no online multiplayer. Only base Red Alert 3 game has online multiplayer.
I really love this one. The story mode on that weird nation was pretty short for a C&C, like maybe 5 hours, but I really enjoyed it. Reminds me of the old missions where you play some of the story with just one OP unit.
Yes
alright. red alert 2 was better. remaster that please.
Fun game. Great way to kill 20-30 minutes. Lots of user created maps as well so you don't get too bored with the base game.
EA touches something and it instantly turns to trash. Not sure what happened this game used to run just fine. Now it will not launch just like RA3. I open the game, it appears on taskbar but when I click on it the screen will flash black and it will go back to being minimized.. Thanks EA!
Really awesome RTS game really disappointed with EA for many games which sucks cause was a big EA fan now I am against everything EA cause they have become disappointments from ruining CnC with their transfer to mobile audience to their destroying other franchises they had success on from Battlefield to Mass effect.
great addition
It's a decent expansion(ish) to the original
100% perfect game
