this game is so fun i know that it was made over 20 years ago but there is so much content, even though it crashes occasionally it is great so charming all the missions are good i wish they would make a game very similar to this but with way more stuff now that computers are better than before i love this game so much so memeory megalopolis so fun explotation casino uh yeah 11/10 very recomending

forgot to do my review of simcity 4 how absolutely silly of me. first things first this is on par with crazy taxi as a classic experience, so for everyone who came here for that you can go . now for my in depth analysis which includes my feelings about the game. its pretty good i like to build my cities and connect my cities and i love my sims. um i wish that this game was just a wince bigger maps just a wince right, every sims 4 fan is agreeing with me it just needs to be like a hair or a wince bigger. god mode never use it, why does it have like save fuckery, let me have multiple saves. every other windows game knew to spam your hard drive with one trillion diferent .saves this game its like i cant egven use fuckin god mode cause then im ddestroying my citty noooo. anyway sims 4. gotta love it also ps why is education so hard to balance it costs so much fricken money what do i do guys how do i make my balanced agrarian society help

How do I suddenly come back to a game that's 20 years old and have put in 40+ hours in the span of a couple weeks? Is city planning this interesting? I have no idea!
Still the best city building sim on the market.
Sim City 4 is a good, straight forward city builder and it can be quite immersive (where did the day go?). I've played it for many years in all its variants from Sim City 2000 onwards and have no problem recommending it. One thing to watch out for though, it crashes, and there is no auto-save which is a pain, because you have to remember to save every fifteen minutes or so if you don't want to lose too much progress. A further word of caution: it doesn't necessarily crash often, and you can be lulled into a false sense of security, as I discovered one time when I lost about four hours of progress - the family heard some colourful language coming from my study that day.

This game keeps crashing. Big waist of money

Played almost 11 hours now, still just like I remember when I was a kid. I've seen a lot of comments on crashes, and I haven't had a single one yet. I'm playing on windows 11 and I have a Ryzen CPU. Not sure whats causing it for others, I kept seeing others blame windows 11 for it, but it appears to be working as intended. I'll edit this review with any updates on crashes if they occur.
this classic will never get old its perfect for any one
I first played Sim City 4 way back in the early 2000s when I purchased it on a disk. Yes, a disk. Remember those? My current PC does not even have a disk drive! The game came in a very colourful box, I remember being impressed with the artwork.
Although it does not have arcologies (cities within cities) like its ancient predecessor Sim City 2000 and the modern Citystate, Sim City 4 is nonetheless an excellent city sim that you can lose an entire day to. You will look at the clock and wonder, "Where did the last three hours go?"
Randomly crashes on OSX M1's. Really frustrating as it also doesn't auto-save. So be prepared to lose your progress randomly.

Classic game, graphics stand up okay for their purpose. Fun, not too complex, but def some resource management is needed to "win".
They don't seem to make games like this anymore(no movie-like gamelessness).

SimCity 4 was the last great SimCity game, this game even holds up to today as one of the top City Building titles out there.

prolly the best city simulator ever. just make sure to download NAM mod for an even better experience to patch up some otherwise small shortcomings and limitations they had in 2003 when this came out...

Very fun simulator game. I like driving a white van around my city after finishing a city. Once im bored i like sending meteorites into my city. Would recommend.
If you're familiar with Sims games then you'll feel right at home. The core mechanics have not changed from previous installments in this franchise. Yes the difficulty has been ramped up significantly, in that it's now way harder to make money, maintenance costs alone might eat up your profits, making it much harder to generate positive cash flow than say in SImCity 2000. That said, if you choose easy difficulty you get a generous sum of starting money, more than enough to work with. This game is well balanced in that you need to think about many things for your city to run smoothly, but for me at least it wasn't too overbearing. This too is where it gets difficult, in that you will have to fork over a large sum of money to build and fund everything your citizens demand. Your profits might get razer thin if you give in to all the demands. You will need to walk the tight rope there. Now there is the inclusion of regions where city relations become paramount. I thought it a fun addition to the core gameplay.
Always played, but now crashes everytime i open it
i have the mac version, but when i play the game, i cant enter at the mayor mode. i tried to change the configuration, but i cant do that. can you help me? i love this game, and im very sad. i want play it.
Believe it or not I actually got this thing (Non Steam Edition) to turn on using PC Box 4.3.2 (A fork of 86BOX that allows Pentium III emulation (experimental) and actually got as just past the EA Games logo and a brief glimps of the world region before it crashed 86ox so I'm not sure where I went wrong.
The PCbox (86box) specs were the following: Pentium III 500mhz or higher (tried several variations) yes the intro remained around 100 percent accuracy with only a few stutters right when the EA GAMES lady came but it went away right away and I was able to get to the video which played solid then forced a restart of 86box.
The sound device was Sound Blaster 16 yet it played the sound in clear audio. The graphics card was a Voodoo 3. I installed the latest Direct X 9 from a certain Phil if you know what I mean..
My HOST specs are I7 13700K with Windows 10 PRO edition and a constant CPU speed of 5.3GHZ.
Game crashes to desk top constantly. You are constantly bombarded with "advice" that for the most part is wrong. Seems like more time was spent making it "look" good and over complicating it than making a game that runs without crashing. Don't waste your money on this one.

First bought the CD version at goodwill for $4, but it was so good I bought the Steam version so I could play it on modern PCs (the CD version doesn't work on Windows 10 or macOS)
Maxis is dead, this is the last decent SimCity
