Hitman: Contracts

An underappreciated Hitman game as it was accused of rehashing a lot of levels from Codename 47. While it does do this in some extent, it also has a lot of original levels that are very good (Meat King, the Manor, and the Russian level all come to mind). And even the rehashed levels, such as the hotel, are an absolute joy to replay with better systems and graphics. I don't really think there's a "bad" Hitman game, and like all the others, I very much recommend this.

Hitman Contracts is in my opinion the most underrated hitman title. It's better than Codename 47 and Silent Assassin, perfect middle ground between Silent Assassin and Bloody Money. Kept everything good from SA and fixed the negatives. They even kept some levels from CN47 and made them better.

Contracts has a very sinister feeling. It delved into the dark recesses of 47’s mind- The way we experience the missions are a slightly warped version of reality- dark, stormy, scary. Very much how someone like 47 might feel about the situations he’s been in, but perhaps Meatking’s Party was on a nice summer evening and the facility wasn’t really quite as unsanitary. Maybe Beldingford’s Manor was a little less oppressive. We know the remade missions certainly had lighter atmospheres originally.
Atmosphere in this one is insane and unique very dark and gloomy almost like a horror game. Excellent soundtrack and good gameplay. Iconic and memorable levels.

Just keep in mind It does require a little bit of tweaking in order for everything to run good or the way you want.

OLD HITMAN GAMES ARE DIFFICULT AS FUCK BUT THEY ARE ALWAYS FUN AND CHALLENGING

never usually works, only 1 day it actually started up and I got just a couple minutes of playtime, when I came back to play it, it stopped working again

this game fixed everything that I disliked about Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, the missions were amazing except for the last few that were remakes of the ones in Codename 47, they were basically a worse version of the original ones (except for the "Traditions of the trade" mission), other than that the game is awsome

worth the price all you need to do is a quick download to support newer computers i'm having a blast

Absolute Masterpiece. Despite being a game meant to hold people over, and half of it being remakes, Contracts is impeccable. It improves on everything in Hitman 2: SA. The atmosphere is incredible, with the rain making every level so much grittier. The gameplay is amazing, and the music is some of the best in the series. Buy this game.

The soundtrack is the best part. Honestly wished Jesper Kyd got more or the same attention as Blood Money for this game's score.

My 4th favorite Hitman game.

unplayable on windows 10 or above, guards will shoot if you bump into them, v-sync is disabled on windows 10/11 which causes the uncapped frame rate to make random guards start searching and your cover to be blown.

I’ve just finished Hitman: Contracts for the first time...

This game is definitely much harder than Blood Money!

Enemies are quick to see through your disguise if you get too close, especially when wearing the same outfit as them (this made some missions like The Lee Hong Assassination particularly difficult). Honestly tho? I dig it! This makes the AI feel far more realistic compared to Blood Money, and I really like the challenge it brings!

What truly stands out, though, is the game’s atmosphere and music. It’s really eerie and creepy. The Meat King’s party and Beldingford Manor, in particular, are damn terrific and fantastic.

Hitman: Contracts is a fantastic stealth game, and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re looking for a challenge. For me, it’s a solid 8.5/10. ❤️🔥

Meat king party mission is glitched asf like no matter how stealthy I try to be guards always start to look for a suspicious bald person after I get rid off the Meat king & when I change clothes that bitch n' the guy in red run away & my cover gets blown. Also when I tried to look for the girl first when I get near her corpse it doesn't trigger the cutscene. I failed this mission like 20 times because of multiple glitches & I even made sure not to draw any weapon but guards get suspicious after I pull down the curtains.

Hitman: Contracts is pretty much a sequel to Hitman 2 with missions that are more focused on the past of Agent 47 and the contracts he did before we go to the present of where he is now. The first mission starts where the first game left off killing Agent 47 father, his creator Dr. Otto Ort-Meyer. You get an introduction to what happened in Hitman 1, with the clones of agents getting out of the lab and out of the asylum trying to escape, with Swat ready to take Agent 47 out. The game's soundtrack is great to listen to since it sets the mood of what Hitman Contracts is supposed to be at the right moments of what's happening in the game. My favorite is the theme for the Swat Team that Agent 47 even though he's able to get through the Agent 47 clones and kill his creator still has to endure more challenges in the future whatever means to stay alive. The game gives instructions on the game mechanics, which helped out a lot in my playthrough. There are times when the levels feel too big for me because of the map layout but I beat the levels just fine with a bit of patience. Some missions are exclusive to Hitman: Contracts that aren't seen in the past games. Even old missions were done in the first game with a new lead of paint that is more fleshed in the game out the game like the ones in Hong Kong, Rotterdam, and the UK to kill Agent 47 3 biological fathers. When I played this game I mostly just went gun ho since it was much easier to do that since the gameplay and certain places made it easier to beat the missions pretty quickly. There were times when I struggled because of how many enemies with weapons trying to take me out when I got spotted. The last mission was very tough for me since it's like something out of the movie Leon: The Professional where a whole Swat unit charges up to your apartment to take you out. This game for me feels pretty awesome from what I played. I highly recommend this game when you have the time to get it. I give this game a 9 out of 10. I hope my review makes you think twice about getting the game. Have a good day.

It's unplayable garbage and is not optimized for PC.

Would I recommend the game? Yes I would, if it's on sale that is, but that's about it. It's still a fun playing experience, but almost all aspects are a step down from Hitman 2 SA. The UI was given a more modern look, but in my opinion just looks worse. Another thing: half the game is literally cutscenes, and having 3 minute cutscenes at the start of levels is really annoying if you have to restart them multiple times. Finally, the game, while fun, is really really short, about half the runtime of Hitman 2 SA. If you combine that with the fact that half the levels in the game are just reworked versions of levels from the first game, this game really doesn't offer anything new. In short: don't expect any groundbreaking new features in this game, but for what it is it's fine, and worth the few bucks if you can find it on sale.

Considering that a big sale is going on, I feel like I need to put this out. I cannot recommend this game enough. It is easily the best Hitman entry in terms of style. It may not have some of the features as Blood Money (weapon customization, notoriety, etc.) but it is amazing how well this game holds up today. The graphics, soundtrack, style, and gameplay blend so well. If you are new to Hitman, you really don't have to play Codename 47, as this offers a lot of the "greatest hits" of that game while offering better gameplay and unique levels as well. It's as fun as when I played it in secret, making sure my parents didn't know. First game I played that had blood and gore, and I got to experience this intensity for the first time at the astounding age of FIVE years old. Never been the same since, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

WARNING: Do NOT buy this game if you expect it to run flawlessly on start-up. You will have to do some work here to get it to run properly. Basically, the old PS2-era game isn't optimized for super high framerates. You'll need to download a .DLL file and put it in your game directory to cap the game at 60fps. You may also need to get a widescreen fix as well. It's absolutely insane how much people get filtered by this game because they can't go to the Community Guides section and get the download links to patch it. If you know the basics of File Explorer, it's not hard.

It's pretty mid, its okay but i wouldnt spend my money on it, its barely an improvement from codename 47, plus the enemies have insane vision, they can even see you while you're sneaking up on them, theres too much junk in pre world of assasination games, buy it only if you really wanna or if its on sale

Bugged and crashed repeatedly. It has basically no display or control customization. You should play this game on console. This utter failure of a port was not worth the ninety-four cents I paid for it on sale, and it's definitely not worth sticker price. If you can get it to play, I'm sure the game is great.

I can get it to run on my Steam Deck but regardless if I am using a controller or a mouse I can't push the "play", "quit", or any of the other options. Refunded :(

First played it in 2009. Ever since then,this game has never not been fascinating. The levels, the ost, the character deisgns, the missions. Everything is top notch. Props to Jesper Kyd for the great soundtrack.

What can i say, its like Hitman: codename remake.

Not as good as Blood Money or the new trilogy. The AI is bad and the missions have much less interesting gameplay. Gives much more challenge than the newer games though if you enjoy that.

Remapping controls does not work. I guess to be expected for 2004. I am unable to scope in at all. Tried a lot of fixes like using steam remap input instead, in game, etc, and nothing worked. By default for me i didnt even have the ADS button work out the tutorial, or weapon swaps. I actually even had to remap the firing button, because by default it was not LMB, but nomatter what it didnt let me assign RMB to ADS. It kept saying LMB and RMB were the same buttons, and i could only use one of them as a mouse button. I even plugged a controller into my PC aswell and left trigger and right trigger were the exact same button, and LB and RB werent even registered or detected at all. So then i tried my steam deck, and while that allowed the most remapping, i still was unable to get it to work, and it also didnt recognize LB or RB on my deck, however on steam deck i was able to reassign crouch, and sprinting, though still unplayable. I also tried downloading other user input profiles as a last resort on my steam deck, and making my own profile button customization and to no avail. Nomatter what platform or input used i simply could not make left and right mouse a seperate control. I also wasnt even able in the beginning to select a mode at the title screen and had to remap my enter key, and again remap on my controller and SD to the A button OUTSIDE of the game itself and in the steam profile instead because it didnt work in the in game settings whatsoever. Just a terrible mess of a game, not sure how the reviews are all mostly positive. D pad and mouse in the menu also didnt work, i had to end up using my steam decks track pad and subsequently the touch screen after all other methods and inputs failed to navigate any of the menu screens after remapping left mouse to fire, and sprint to shift because whenever i finally got one button working how i wanted it to a different one would stop working in its place.

I'm certain these games are better in their original Xbox versions but trying to get Silent Assassin in certain levels would be difficult if not impossible given the restrictive level design and ego shattering glitches. While to some it might be funny to see a corpse throw itself across the room, it gets less funny when you can't do anything to stop or prevent it, making it impossible to avoid detection. Example: Traditions of the Trade makes the man in the water go flying when you kill them. Worst part is, you don't get to decide where it goes flying, it HAS to fly in the direction of the guard. And the one time I managed to prevent it from going quite as far, a random woman in a red dress appears and detects me. Worst experience ever. At least it's not as bad as Hidden Valley. I just wish there were mods that fixed these game breaking glitches and bugs.

Hitman 1 missions remake and new missions in contracts is made very well, each mission is unique on its own and need to do lots to trial and error to properly finish it in silent assassin rating.

Game runs fine on windows 11 without any issue but you need to install 2 things, 1 is legacy directx packages from microsoft and another is widescreen fix patch

The Meat King Party could be one of the best levels in all of the Hitman games. The atmosphere in this game is incredible. Play this game for sure
