Amazing classic that hopefully gets the remaster treatment, not many games out there that let you be such an evil vampire, absolute joy to hear every note spring out of the voice actors mouths, and it's such a shame it never got more love, for 7 Euro it's a pretty good time if you're an older gamer than can forgive the older style of gameplay movement, it's not bad, it's just not the standard of today. Either way you'll know with the use of the mod ^ if you enjoy the gameplay within an hour of playing, and if it's not for you simply refund it, but honestly I think ANY support towards ANY of the Legacy Of Kain games right now is collectively helpful towards showing the Devs that returning to the universe and delivering a fresh new title would be greatly wanted.
You can very easily fix issues with the steam version of the game by googling it briefly and finding a solution in the steam forums. There's a bug with modern machines that kinda make it a pain to play. It's easily resolved by downloading 3 small files.
The issue with no controller support isn't a fault with the developers or the distributors of the game. It can be easily resolved by playing the game in big picture mode and enabling a readily available scheme fans have already created for you. The reason old games don't have controller support on PC is because PC users back then were quite snobby and thought that consoles were made for "kiddies" so the inclusion of controller support infuriated them even if it wasn't forced. It's good to know that while some things may change, they still stay the same as gamers get mad at the most insane sh*t.

This is an old favorite of mine, love LoK and Simon Templeman as Kain. If you're coming in from Blood Omen 1 this will be a very different game playwise (and you don't NEED to play Blood Omen 1 to understand this one but it does add quite a bit of context to the world and especially to Soul Reaver 2/Defiance) but if you're coming in from Soul Reaver (especially after 12/10), it will be a little more familiar. You will need to patch this or it does not play and you can find a thread on steam here with a working patch.
Legacy of Kain is a dark gothic story rich series that never feels like it leans on tropes or lazy writing. Even the sideliest characters get context or personalities, it's lovely. Kains ambitions far outweigh a typical sense of morals, but that doesn't stop him from being able to work with others when he needs to. He's far from your silent hero, having a lot to say to his new (and old) frenemies as well as commenting on everything throughout Meridian.
Very bugged and very glitchy. You're better off playing it on console.
This took some fiddling to get it to work, but once you do the game is really fun! If you like 2000's era gaming, anyway. It definitely shows it's age, for better or worse.

This is a blast from the past. One of my favorite games and franchise. Shout out to @Major Dutch for suggesting the Conceptual Edition fix which works like a charm. Can't wait for Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered.

I love this franchise but this version does not work well on modern systems. I wish I'd read the reviews first. I'm hoping enough negative reviews will inspire them to fix this port so we can actually play it.
They remastered Soul Reaver recently... So one can only hope this gets a remaster or a continuation... If the developers are still alive, please help us kind ssssiiiiiiiirrrrrrr!
I know it's something of the black sheep of the franchise but I still think it's got that Nosgoth goodness.
Ive played this time and time again, from og xbox to my first and now to my current computer. it may be old but with a bit of patience you can set this game to be one handed comfortably on keyboard, i havent found any part of this game to be unfair or unbeatable, theres its old clunkiness id expect from any older game but it has been plenty entertaining none the less
oh dont forget to get the fan made patch for it tho, wont run as steam provides it, but someone out there loved the game enough to want you to play it problem free as well so please try and enjoy!!

Kain is undoubtedly the most vicious of the vampires. His antics as a bloodthirsty bat can be felt for years after striking the Hylden with his sword, the Soul Reaver. Kain delivers a chilling narrative over his conquest of Nosgoth and its pillars. Meeting his friends and foes like Magnus, Sebastian, Marcus, Faustus, Vorador, Umah, Janos, and Sarafan Lord is quite rewarding. Blood Omen 2 is the main course for the dessert that is Defiance. At last, you can play the Legacy of Kain series on Steam to relive your glory days of gaming.
I love this game and series. But it is almost unplayable on steam. crashes, freezes, can't tab out without something going wrong. no controller support. soul reaver 1& 2 now have remasters coming out. please give the rest of the series some love and attention.

I still after 22 year love this game to most Legacy of kain fans this is the weakest in the series but that does not mean it's bad it aint it does some flaws and the the story is the weakest but it still a fun game to play and is alot of fun.
This was one of the first video games I ever played. Way too young for it, But infatuated all the same. Do not let my playtime fool you. I cannot Express to you how many hours 5 Year old me spent trying, and Failing, To complete this game. Its aged like milk in some areas, But it makes me happy to play.

How to play game normally without game being slow here is tutorial: go to game skip intro when it gets slow solution is to use alt tab then click options also use alt tab to get it faster enter options and turn off all anisotropic. Then you can play it. There is no big visuals differences at all when you are playing the game when anisotropic are off. There you go. Works for me.
