I'm very torn about writing this review since the game is very cheap when it's on sale, it has its moments and graphically it still holds up decently well but there are too many elements that make the experience unpleasant. Aside from the cringe stealth parts and the terrible platform parts, there are really too many fillers that make exploration a pain in the ass and that only serve to mask the loading times (so on PC they are totally useless), the save and loading system is terrible and the indicator on the map sends you who knows where. So... it's not horrible overall but often not funny. Prepare to be patient.
This game would have been soo much better without the stealth sections and the traveling system leaves something to be desired cool as the concept is. That aside this is a good game with a great story and characters. The voice acting is great and the combat is good with some epic boss battles.
Masterpiece!
Finally gave Satan some pants, still missing some wall chicken. No one wants to play as a rat or vape cloud...
Underrated Game
Still nice to play
One of the worst games I played, with a dumb plot, ridiculous setting for a Castlevania game, stupid design decisions with poorly implemented mechanics, especially the stealth sections, which are not hard, just are there for no reason.
I have no idea who thought of having you play as Dracula and make the character so weak and dumb. The combat is okay, but you are gonna see little of it, since the game thinks it has a real nice story to tell, and tries to shove it every second it can, with the action left to small portions with the same three/four enemies
The progression is bad and the limit gauge to use weapons discourage experimentation, making you use mostly the same weapon, which has the least movepool variety. It is an old game, it could be alright back in the day, but I would never reccomend to play nowadays. The first Lords of Shadow, although a little dated, is a much better experience, with more action and a direction less in love with the poorly written script
Good story combat and game altogether better then half the crap thats been coming out lately

nice ^_^
A step forward in some aspects and a step backward in others, this game is fun experimental and frustrating in equal measures . still i high recommendation especially if you've enjoyed the other games in the Lords of shadow series.
I really liked the combat in this game more than the first Lords of Shadow and I think a lot of that has to do with the addition of more weapons and the fact that aerial combat is now viable due to the inclusion of an air dodge. The game looks gorgeous although the flashback castle sequences are much better than the modern day city setting and I wish you spent more time there. I'm kind of ambivalent on the more open world design of this game compared to the distinct stages in the first game. Personally I prefer the individual stages, but it wasn't bad, definitely not the worst open world design. One thing I really didn't care for were the forced stealth sections. Not because they're difficult, because they aren't, it's because it slows down the flow of the game and you're playing as Dracula for fucks sake. It should be a cool power fantasy, not having you hide from enemies as a fucking rat. It's also a lazy PC port. The game launches in console resolution and doesn't have PC resolution as an option in the settings so I had to go into the game's files and manual change the resolution in launches at. The DLC is alright if you can get it on sale. Alucard is cool and plays differently enough from Dracula to keep it interesting and it thankfully takes place entirely in the castle.
a lot of bugs and no one care in this game , i really feel sorry see game like this with this good story just ignored by the own company ... there's no save or loading in the game the bugs everywhere too
El juego es muy bueno su calidad y dificultad me dan alegría
A huge improvement from the original. I liked the first game for the most part but it feels like they found their direction for this one and got rid of a few of the annoyingly tedious parts like mounted beast puzzles etc. The combat feels better over all as well so this is a definite recommend.
Lost the cloud progress of mine, felt sad for it, but overall its a great journey with Gabriel.
The story contained in the LoS2 is masterfullly written, much like the gampley is fitting to the game's setting and the main stroy It is a masterpiece. This part closes the Lords of Shadow saga pretty nicely.

Pretty awesome game, I enjoy how it has a good mixture of SLIGHT challenge with combat and puzzles, and I also think the story is extremely compelling. THEY NEED TO REBOOT MORE RETRO OLD SCHOOL GAMES LIKE THIS!!!!!!
the good old days not a DEI in sight just straight gaming and living in the moment
So far a really fun action game, and an interesting 3d Castlevania
.
TOO MUCH BUGS.......................
Played this game when it was on PS3,
I enjoyed it back and even now the combat is system is nice and diverse,
the only thing i don like about the game is puzzle inside the fortress, maybe they need to provide better hint.
other wise great game.
yes a good game worthy of mention they need to bring story driven games like this back
good game
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

A fun sequel that doesn’t quite top the original.
While it doesn’t improve much on the first game, it still delivers a solid hack-and-slash adventure. The combat is just as satisfying, but some of the magic from the original is missing. The boss fights are still a highlight, though they don’t feel as grand this time around.
The story takes some strange turns, but it keeps things interesting. Not as strong as the first, but still a decent ride.
And yes, the soundtrack continues to be a banger—worth playing with headphones on. Just don’t get too distracted while Sucking your victims dry.
Enjoy !!!
a very unusual journey into the Gothic world with a good plot, one of the only ones of its kind. I definitely recommend it
Love this game so much! Highly recommend.
I played this years ago, and just finished my second playthrough after talking about it with a friend.
I do enjoy this game! It is far from perfect, but a solid 6-7/10.
There are parts that are excellent. The whole aesthetic, for one, is perfect. Both the Castle and The City have that gothic Castlevania vibe in the design and architecture. The castle feels huge with its multiple environs and the different sectors, and The City really gets the modern Gothic style that’s a mix of old-world buildings and almost Tim Burton Batman Gotham with the Science District filled with large pipes and cables, and all the statues and architectural flairs and embellishments.
But... that’s also where it kind of fails too. It tries to recreate that old SotN, Metroidvania game design, with the backtracking, the two different worlds, the stylized rooms and sections... but in the open world they created here, it feels too compartmentalized, especially with no real-world map to follow. You get an area map, and you can set waypoints to a few selected places, but in game, you still feel like it is room to room. This makes the backtracking and secret finding not as fun because you might know *where* a box is, but trying to remember *how* to get there again is not always easy, especially for early area secrets that require late game powers.
Combat is good, "easy to understand, hard to master" kind of stuff. managing the dodge and blocking off of one button is not always fun and you can get mobbed in corners with camera working against you. It is one of those games where baddies are not everywhere, they are in "arena rooms" or in set location, so you won’t get ambushed, but it follows the trend of "OK, you been through here once, now all the enemies are upgraded!" There is never a moment when you get that classic OP feeling of mowing down a bunch of fodder enemies when you revisit old areas. The fights aren't difficult, but they can be tedious as you try to focus on knocking the bigger threats down first while not blocking because you dodged into the wall instead and your attack got interrupted because on enemy in the crowd had a shield.... But there is that sense of satisfaction with survival. There is also this kind of soft lock-on mechanic that will keep you on the closest enemy, but it is automatic and will transfer to whoever is closer or just blocked, and will slow you down if you try to just run through an area.
And please do yourself a favor, turn off the QTEs!!
The biggest flaw is what everyone says. Puzzles and stealth. The puzzles are not difficult, but a few are that type of tedious that sucks the fun out of it. I’m looking at you Agreus and the stupid fireball corridor towards the end. The stealth sections are a just limiting. Again, it’s compartmentalized, so there is no either/or and if you're caught, you're dead.
Another con is the sound design… There is a soundtrack, and it is great, but it doesn’t always seem cued to an action or environment. Like, you walk into a room on a ledge, the heavy action music starts with a sting and…… there’s nothing there. That track plays out and the piano theme kicks in again, and around we go. There are combat tracks, but they seem to linger on quite a ways after the last monster is dead, too. The weirdest thing on this last playthrough was Drac screaming in pain every time he transformed from being a rat… “AAAHHHHGGG!!” I don’t know why!
All that said, the best part of this is the cinematic story. Not being main-line canon, it tells a concise story across all three games and while they make some odd choices from a developer stand point (Gabriel's turning into Dracula in a DLC for the first game...) it is well told, and well-acted. The cutscenes where Robert Carlyle’s gets to throw around some emotions and really act are fantastic. MercurySteam really got that storytelling thing right across all three games and, well, maybe I am just a sucker for it. I would rather have this story expanded on Netflix than the last couple of seasons of Castlevania that we got!
So… Great story, great design and style. Beautiful, if not misused, soundtrack. Good combat, if not a bit frustrating at times. Decent exploration, but bad maps and location awareness. Bad stealth and puzzles.
I was ready to give it a chance, but despite what was said to the contrary there really is too many stealth sections scattered in about half the levels which makes you wonder why Dracul is such a weak snowflake for a guy who is supposed to be the prince of darkness.
It's Castlevania but you're Dracula. HOLY MOLY!!!!!! :O
You get to play as Dracula in a Castlevania game, what more is there to say. LoS took a different turn compared to any of the other Castlevania games and they did a bloody good job with it.
This game makes me feel like im huffing paint
