THE IS FIRE!!! 🔥🔥🔥An amazing platformer game that has infinite replayability and many complications and nuances to keep you interested.
Speplunkiing
Fantastic little rougelike game, not that long but very difficult and packed full of content that will keep you coming back for more.
The hours played here is a lie since I've played hundreds of hours of Spelunky on console as well. This game gave me exactly what I wanted, a difficult platformer that's different every time and full of secrets. One of my favorite games ever. Ideal for those who want a challenge.
I'm a little biased since this is the first video game I ever played and played it hours a day when I was younger, but truly, this game is worth the measly $10. This game is a truly spectacular 2D platformer, filled with surprises and a fun challenge. It gives you a journal to keep track of all the discoveries you've made throughout your playtime, letting you look back on all your accomplishments. Fair warning, it will take about a week or two to get used to controls if you mainly play ASWD games, and you will need to play it to get better at it. It is not too easy of a game. It seems silly, but this game really makes you feel like you're a cave adventurer travelling to the depths of hell to escape the cave.
basically a horror game
I don't really get the hype around Spelunky.
I had the first crash to Desktop when I tried to read the very first book for the first time. But that aside I simply can't get green with that game. Its not that I don't like digging games. Steamworld dig is a fantastic game, I loved to play. For me the whole mechanics of Spelunky feel kinda "boring". I don't feel any motivation to continue. It's just annoying to find out all the stuff from what you can lose HP. Yes there is a forced tutorial at the beginning of the game, but in the real game I always feel a little bit left alone. I see that it is the main concept to find out everything. But even though I already lost a lot of lives on that I still can't figure out how deep I cann fall without taking damage.
Alltogether I find it simply boring. Sorry.
Based and grug pilled game outside of dark levels, dark levels just suck
A really great roguelike, but feels a little dated. If i'm being honest just buy the second one.
This game is too hard for me bro :((((((((
I love this game. I love getting eaten out by snakes
I personally find the level design in the game to be quite absurd. There are far too many hazards that can quickly end your gameplay, whether it's an unexpected arrow trap or a sneaky spider dropping from above. Often, these dangers are so well hidden that spotting them in time becomes nearly impossible. Moreover, the lack of clear visual indicators for these menacing creatures only exacerbates the problem.
While I acknowledge that the game employs random generation, it's frustrating when the levels seem to lack coherence. At times, you may find yourself trapped with no apparent escape route, especially if you've exhausted your supply of bombs.
Additionally, the hitboxes for both the monsters and your attacks feel unreasonably unforgiving. It's all too common for an enemy to land a hit with pinpoint accuracy while you struggle to even make contact with them.
It's possible that my skills are simply lacking, but the game's design fails to keep me engaged. The unforgiving nature of the challenges presented often feels more frustrating than fun,
I'm sure 99% of people don't read the reviews. So you may not know that Naruto can be a bit harsh sometimes. You may not know this, but Naruto also grew up without a father. In fact, he never met either of his parents and never had any friends.
BEST GAME EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
good
I hate/love/hate the shopkeeper
Never thought a game could almost be as tilting as 'League of Legends' but here we are.
good jam
A wonderful marriage of smooth-as-butter 2D action platforming and randomly generated levels. Interactive possibilities aplenty. A myriad of dynamic micro-situations to test your reflexes and game knowledge. An equal plurality of unique and hilarious ways to die; even the game's fail states are fun. With almost every death you'll learn something useful for your next run--death is progress, as it is with so many other great games of the tough-but-fair persuasion.
The presentation is nice, too. The aesthetic is a quirky mish-mash of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror tropes, with some pop-culture references to stuff like Indiana Jones and Evil Dead thrown in, all presented in a cutesy indie art style. It works well. I love all the playable characters too, they're so cute and have a lot of personality, making it all the more fun to unlock them as you progress. But the music may be the real star of the show here. Each track complements its' respective biome (cave, jungle, ice cave, temple) really well. I especially like all of the odd-time bangers which have some rather tasty percussion.
This is an essential pick for any enjoyer of 2D platforming and a "prepare to die edition" level of difficulty. Though tough, it's never very frustrating, so long as you respect what the game is trying to do. And if you respect Spelunky, it will respect you back.
Always be ready to clip a screen recording for the inevitable ridiculous funny death
spelunky spelunky spelunky, get funky funky funky :burgzone: :snake:
must sacrifice for Kali
Keep wanting to like this game but it makes me do the tutorial every time I play it and I'm honestly just done doing that. No more playing this game.
Bery fun game. You can easily play it over and over again. Able to play with up to 3 friends which is amazing. Both adventure and PvP and PvE so more pluses.
This game is HARD, but rewarding.
very fun but very difficult
Cute and Hardcore these games are glorious
Lots of equipment, bosses and secrets to find... if you make it that far
Some runs boil down to luck
Co-op throw ya mate onto some spikes
Really hard but really addicting.
I have never sworn and shouted so much at a game. Love it.
makes me very sad when i die, 10/10
Great game, just keep in mind it doesn't have Steam cloud.
god i wish this were real
Spelunky is an absolute gem of a roguelike, combining tight platforming, brutal difficulty, and endless replayability into an experience that never gets old. The randomly generated levels ensure that no two runs are ever the same, keeping each playthrough fresh and unpredictable. The variety of tile sets adds a sense of adventure, making every descent into the caves, jungles, and temples feel like an entirely new challenge.
The difficulty is steep, but that’s part of what makes Spelunky so rewarding. Every mistake is a learning experience, and every victory feels well-earned. The game demands precision, patience, and strategic thinking, turning even the smallest progress into a thrill.
The music and sound design perfectly complement the gameplay, with catchy tunes that shift dynamically between calm exploration and high-stakes escape sequences. And when it comes to replayability, Spelunky is nearly unmatched—there’s always a new way to approach the caves, a new secret to uncover, or another challenge to conquer.
Gameplay: 9.5/10 – Tight controls, deep mechanics, and rewarding difficulty.
Graphics: 7.5/10 – Simple but charming visuals that prioritize clarity and function.
Sound/Music: 8.5/10 – Atmospheric and fitting, enhancing the tension and adventure.
Replayability: 10/10 – Infinite variety with randomized levels and tons of secrets.
Overall: 9/10 – A near-perfect roguelike experience that rewards skill, patience, and perseverance.
Spelunky
simple but secretly difficult and hair-pulling experience
best gam ever
unforgiving, but feels really rewarding to master
play if u like to suffer. shout out to billyschmidht for carrying olmec
1. the game crashed before I could even get to the tutorial
2. exiting the game causes my monitor to get an Out Of Range error which is an absolute first in all my years of playing games. it makes my monitor unusable until restarting my PC.
conclusion: a game this simple shouldn't even be capable of being this utterly broken.
if you're a roguelike-liker and don't happen to have any technical issues, it might be a fun game, so make sure you test the game within that 2 week refund period just in case.
this game is infuriating
Simply excellent
i spawned in and immediately died to an explosion that had nothing to do with me. spelunky
So fun but ragequit everytime to some bs.
The ghost gave me nightmares back when I played on Xbox 360
Best Hardest Game Ever!
Probably the funniest multiplayer ever made and I'm not even exaggerating.
this game has genuinely been a part of my life for over a decade, i used to play it on xbox 360, and now i play it whenever im bored, or feeling down, etc. genuinely an endlessly repayable gem, i recommend.
UNDER RATED
Spelunky is a very fun game to just pick up and get a few rounds in. The constantly changing map always guarantees a unique experience. This game is hard, but it's not ridiculous and you can easily get better. It's a great game to play with others as well, as the controls and concept are very simple. There's not a whole lot to it, but it is a great way to pass 15 or 20 minutes here and there. 8/10
game where you slave enime with whip
