About the Game
The world’s most irreverent co-op action adventure returns! In the next chapter of Magicka, players ascend from the ruins of Aldrheim to experience a Midgård almost wiped free of Wizards after the Wizard Wars, with the few that do remain having either gone mad or extremely hostile toward all others. To rid the world of evil, again, up to four Wizards, and their guide Vlad, will traverse Midgård armed with the next iteration of the famous Magicka dynamic spellcasting system, as players reprise their roles as the most overpowered, unpredictably funny Wizards ever known to fantasy!
Learn to Spell Again... Again!
Ye olde hybrid elements Steam and Ice from Magicka 1 are back, joined by the brand new Poison! This means tons of new spells to cast at friends and foes - complete with larger explosions and greatly improved graphics!
Learn to Spell Again
As an all-powerful Wizard, you will have thousands of spells at your fingertips to experiment and defeat evil with, use them together with special Magicks to annihilate foes or give necessary aid to your companions.
- Combine up to five elements at a time and work together with—or against—your friends for that full Magicka co-op experience.
- Four Player Friendly Fire Compatible Co-op
- Full co-op support! All levels and game modes in Magicka 2 will be supported for four player co-op with hot join, checkpoints, and other supportive features and functionality.
- Friendly fire is always on, promoting emergent gameplay humor as players accidentally hurt or kill their friends in their attempts to annihilate enemies.
Be the Wizard You Want to Be!
With tons of robes, staffs, and weapons you can play as the robed Wizard of your choice to wreak havoc amongst hordes of fantasy creatures as you see fit. Magicka 2's dynamic spellcasting system can be used in many different ways, offering hours of experimentation for players to figure out which spells belong in their repertoire. Add both co-op and friendly fire on top of that and you have a recipe for hilarious disasters.
Replay the Next Chapter with Artifacts
Magicka 2 offers players a story-driven campaign mode set in a lush fantasy world influenced heavily by Nordic folklore. New to the franchise are "Artifacts," which act as different switches and options for players to customize and change the gameplay experience, adding more replayability when utilized.

It's working! It's working!
After Magicka 1, it's wonderful how perfectly good the new game is running. But I was puzzled by the changes to the gameplay. Useless shield spell, slow movement, cooldown on magicka usage even in "manual" mode. Frozen enemies are immune to laser spells. Why try to bring "balance" to the game and ruin it eventually? It seems more suitable for PvP than PvE. And then I found about Magicka Wizard Wars. And it's clear to me they just transferred multiplayer game mechanics to the single-player/co-op game and didn't bother to make it fun again.
I stopped playing with a friend after the 6th chapter, and we went back to Magicka 1 to complete challenges because it's so much more fun. The game field in Magicka 2 is too close and too zoomed in. There is little room to maneuver. And your player speed is slower than every enemy in the game. You can't teleport because of the cooldown, haste runs out too quickly, and there are damage sponge enemies everywhere. The shield is useless; it's only against laser spells, and I didn't see any mob using those spells. It's just not that fun compared to Magicka 1. I love to traverse the game field, I love to memorize ridiculous spell combos, and I like to see that chaos. Of course, Magicka 2 has its own moments. But the humor isn't there. Bosses are just regular enemies with big health bars. And for a sequel, it's a Iletdown, not an improvement. Bummer.
Played this with my friends recently. Best wizard game ive ever played. I hope we may get Magicka 3 someday even tho thats unlikely.
Complex magicm system but its super rewarding, better with a controller. The final boss sucks tho. Ypu cant beat them without friends.
Vlad is NOT a vampire!
Cant get past the shitty paradox crap and these awful menus and these shit settings
Picked the game up to be able to play with others, and that requires a Paradox Plaza account to do so. That in itself was irritating but doable, but unfortunately none of us could even make a Paradox Plaza account - 'Unable to connect to Paradox Servers' if attempted in-game, and infinite loading screen when attempted via Paradox's website. I suppose still playable if you're going completely solo, but the whole point of this was for a multiplayer romp, and that's currently impossible.
it made me happy/ Good. very good. 10/10
Your a not Wizard your just a 40 year old loser looking for something to play while you watch Hot tub Streams on your second monitor
The game is really fun if you have a friend or 2 to play with. The game is a lot shorter than what i thought it would be though.
game is pretty easy but a lot of fun with friends
Hardest boss is shitty soccer.
Best spell mixing game out there! plus is fast paced with only your wits (and sometimes macros) to mix the spells and effects to do what is needed in that moment. Play with friends for hilarity and even more spell damage!
Silly fun game.
BUT WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO HARD
Absoluitely love this game. Really fun gameplay mechanics and very funny.
fun game
Glitchy as all hell, and crashed my computer numerous times. Being unable to bind WASD to movement is also a major downer. UI is a total mess - trying to cast spells feels awful. I can't even enjoy discovering new spells since there's no record of them anywhere.
EXPLOSION!
this game sucks ass and destroys friendships but it's so fucking funny
had a lot of fun and will definitely recommend this game to all my friends !!!
fun game
You can blow up everybody
tried to play game with another person made me make a paradox account made the account tried linking the account wouldn't link wouldn't let me do anything online because it wouldn't link the account i had made.
Fun to play with my kids. Love the various spells you can do and how the game challenges you to remember spells, but also allows quick spells now for 4 options. Have fun killing each other on accident too, or purpose!
Vale muito apena jogar, é muito divertido, principalmente com amigos
Quando entrar em promoção pode comprar sem medo 👍
Works with Linux, zero issues.

nani bakurrr?!?!
yes
good game
Ridiculous in all the right ways. Fond memories playing on console with friends. Hilarious and engaging. Creative magic system unlike any other game. Fun references to the Matrix, LOTR, and many more. If you have friends who aren't psychotic, I recommend playing as a group of four. Similar to Castle Crashers, with a bit more complexity. If only roguelike modes were mainstream when this game was at its peak. 8/10, in my top 20 of all time for sure.
perfect game !
good game
just awful
Nice game
Instakick simulator, if you have good people to play it after you finish the game, only THEN you feel the Magick.
Ps: Don't kill wooden creatures
Я запустил ядерку:)
WE'LL USE THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
nice
A good sequel. I had the impression that the original game was a little more polished than this part. Still fun, if you already beat the first one!
Best game I play :)
perfect 10/10 better then hollow knight and cyberpunk 2077
Game is too hard, game design feels like a hit-or-miss, the tutorial and guide can be presented in a better way. I'm not very patient waiting for all the text messages to show and perhaps showing some video scenes can be more intuitive and easier to follow.
Could have been more fun for single players but the developer chose to make it this hard.
Casting spells can often be hard because:
(1) There are too many combinations of spells to memorize.
(2) There are many ways to cast, mouse wheel, spacebar, shift + mouse wheel, shift + right click, and you also have shift + right click to use your second weapon, which is quite confusing and makes it even harder.
(3) Some ways of casting may harm myself. Friendly fire cannot be disabled, why?
(4) The order of the spells sometimes matters.
(5) If you have added a wrong spell, you cannot cancel the it and you are forced to cast all of them.
(6) There are many combinations of spells but many of them actually give quite similar results. Do we really need 5 slots?
(7) The number shortcut keys don't allow assigning custom spell combinations. It's not fun, period.
The character is quite weak and casting spells is too time-consuming, it is also a battle against time because the map is so tiny and the monsters walk so fast, you always need to act fast.
Right now it isn't quite suitable for casual gamers like me but I think this is supposed to be a casual game.
Don't get me wrong, I like the overall idea of the game but I hope that the developer can make the game easier to play in Magicka 3.
Perhaps it is supposed to be played in co-op mode with some friends, at least in the final boss battle I guess, as the final boss is quite souls-like, you only have 2 lives, it's a really long battle, and if you are not good at football or pool games you are also screwed.
Love the overall graphics and character design though.
To conclude, I don't think I'd recommend this game for single-player casual gamers and average gamers as it can be quite challenging to play. However, it should be okay if you have fast fingers and good at memorizing spells or you play this game with friends.
---
Edit:
Turns out there is a skill called Revive that can essentially give infinite lives in the single-player mode, so I could gradually make progress during my battle with the final boss and defeating it was just a matter of time. However, I'm not really a fan of repeatedly dying and resurrecting, and this also defeats the purpose of health points and life spells. I don't like this final boss fight in which the golem boss is actually easy to kill and the hardest part is to kick the balls.
Was able to play the tutorial one day just fine, but now it's asking for account creation and linking and if you decline the game just won't load. Fuck off with that bullshit
Wonderful game for people who like magic. It also has a great story and things to do after. 10/10
I got this along with some friends since I've always heard that Magicka was great coop fun; the first game is effectively non-functional on Steam, and this one was on sale, so we refunded the first and went for this one. I'm almost speechless at how bad this is and bewildered this has 82% on Steam. This is all the more impressive considering the game's short length; it would've been easy to be forgettable, but Magicka 2 managed to be terrible in remarkably little time.
You control a wizard that can conjure an enormous assortment of spells by combining different elements, each corresponding to a keyboard key; so far so good, the idea is great. Where the game goes wrong is, well, everywhere else. Levels are short but seem overly long due to unending combat encounters with uninteresting enemies with inflated health pools. Oftentimes, I caught myself running away to the edge of the screen trying to progress, assuming the enemies were respawning infinitely - about 10% of the time, that was indeed the case. This terrible game design decision kept me paranoid, making me constantly question if I was wasting my time by killing enemies.
To make matters worse, any and all charm the spell system has is lost once you realize 90% of the spells don't matter, and going in blind is an awful experience. Many enemies - especially later on - only take a meaningful amount of damage from their elemental weakness. This makes you feel underpowered and creates a revive conga-line effect when playing with friends, slowing the game down even further. Friendly fire is also one of the game's core features, freezing what little pacing the game had left with random deaths; it is common to be revived then immediately die to a random enemy or a friendly beam/wall of fire.
Adding to the annoying gameplay, there is no visual clarity. We were often trying to find our characters onscreen and killing ourselves trying to understand what was going on; the game's zoomed-out camera doesn't help, but there are no visual elements to help either like outlines or visually distinct enemy/player design and coloring.
The sound design is also terrible. Half the time, the game sounds like a cacophony of laughter and random "simish, alongside some mediocre spells' sounds that don't help in making them feel more impactful.
I could go on or articulate my previous points a bit better with more examples, but then I'd feel like I put more effort into writing this than they did making the game, so it's not worth it. If you want a coop game with random elements where you can kill your friends and have fun doing it, go play Helldivers 2 instead. Don't buy this.
Difficulty levels in this game are fundamentally broken and it makes this game MUCH LESS FUN than it could be.
On normal difficulty all enemies have a fair amount of HP, move fast, and deal normal damage. The entire game can be completed by using a single combination of electric+arcane+fire laser, because it is a spell that deals an insane amount of damage and has a lot of different elements in it so it ignores most resistances. The game is extremely easy and provides no challenge on normal difficulty.
On hard difficulty, however, all enemies receive a FLAT 50 HP regen per second. This breaks almost all balance in the game, because now your only chance to kill an enemy is to use a devastating burst spell, like boulder or icicle barrage. All Damage Over Time and slowing spells become essentially useless, since the enemy often regenerates half of the DPS you do to them. This is a very lazy game design choice and it massively hinders the game's ability to give the player some healthy and challenging gameplay.
Anyway, the game is not being updated anymore, so leaving a negative review about balance is not going to change anything.
The game is good and has some great and interesting magic casting mechanics: There are over 1000 possible combinations of elements which all lead to different spellcasts. The gameplay is quite deep and unique, the only thing I don't like is when the game swarms you by tons of strong enemies from all sides, forcing you to run around and avoid enemy attacks without any chance to strike back.
But if you don't demand a lot of challenge and just want to cast some interesting spells at random goblins and bugs - this game is perfect, and even better if you have a couple of friends.
I know this game is old but compared to the original Magicka I don't appreciate how you can press 1 through 4 to instantly cast spells instead of pressing each combo every time you want to cast that spell, that was the fun. It's as if they never thought about people using Macros on Magicka 1 to cast spells and that makes it unfair for those who don't use macros, well whoop ditty freakin' doo... those guys who cheat are players that go onto another game real quick to cheat on that game too, most players don't cheat. This isn't that type of game where Macros even matters.
Just upsetting that this game also stopped with 2 + DLCs and never bothered to make a 3rd... hopefully someone other than Paradox can make it cuz I'm sick of them making me use their services for no reason other than they want as much personal data from me as possible so they can sell it to make the most money. So I guess I'm never playing their games multiplayer, if they start asking for it on Single Player games, lol yeah, never buying those.
My Wife Left Me
Absolutely funny, specially with a bunch of crazy friends
Way too hard for single player. I understand this game had co-op in mind but there's just no excuse for making something so punishing just because you don't want to play with others. (In my case, friends all have different schedules.) Got through to the end boss and I wanna bash my brains in with a tire iron. The amount of key inputs you're supposed to memorize is disgusting, the ability takes too long to charge. You have to be stupid accurate to interrupt the beams. Then you get have fun slipping around, getting stunned/frozen/knocked down while trying to play soccer with the orbs. Would not recommend unless you know for sure you can rope 3 friends into slogging through this with you.
NOT A VAMPIRE.
Just watch the hidden last trailer.
VERY FUN
