Great game in many ways and outshines modern games in many others. Sadly, given the clunky controls and horrible checkpoint locations, it can be an utter nightmare to complete. I gave up half way through and just watched someone else beat it to save time. After seeing the latter half of the game, I'm glad I bailed. I played on the Steam controller so maybe I would have faired better on a desktop with mouse and kb. You want true difficulty unlike synthetic Dark Souls difficulty, play this.
A timeless classic.
Even without the nostalgia of playing it on the Mega Drive, it's clear how groundbreaking this game was for 1991.
Its cinematic storytelling and unique art style are still impressive today.
Plus, it's a satisfying 100% for achievement hunters!
for a game that launch in 1991 its really nice but that ending was so lame xd
very cool lil game to play in one sitting! while there are some moments i dont think i wouldve known how to get through without a guide, i liked the feeling of going "ohhhh" when i'd figure out a tough solution on my own. the whole feel of the game is also super cool just in general.
i see some people saying the game feels dated cuz of the controls and some of the more obtuse things here and there, and thats fair, but i simply like the feeling i get from playin the game. its unique, and i think theres a lotta value to be had in playing something that feels like it wouldnt be made the same way today
classic title thats aged extremely well in all departments (except gameplay unfortunately, expect your fair share of classic adventure game bullshit deaths)
i absolutely adore the visuals and atmosphere however and its absolutely worth a playthrough for that alone at the very least, long live the amiga
absolutely legendary
The game itself is very short and can, theoretically, be beaten before the refund period ends; however, unless you are aware of what that entails, odds are you will not be able to. Because this game is from a time when games were designed based on player trial and error and developers pulled no punches to offering a challenge while telling their story.
If you are a gamer who appreciates the blind thrill of a new challenge, and would love to experience the narrative which inspired games like ICO, then this title is definitely a great choice!
Despite the challenging aspect, this work is still a worthwhile experience for both patient gamers willing to sit through the trial and error or those who simply follow a guide. I wholeheartedly recommend attempting the former before looking up a guide, like I had to, but the result is still the same: a short adventure which thrusts a silent hero into a strange, harsh world as he encounters both friends and enemies in what quickly becomes the ultimate fight for survival.
I remember playing this on an Amiga with my uncle back in the stone ages. One of my old, classic favs
Absolute classic. Played this back on SNES in the 90s. The graphics were like from... another world. Yes, pun intended.
Perfeito!
still a great game today, cinematic
As a child I never beat this game.
I'm aware if you know all the solutions within the game it would take less than 15 mins to beat this game.
As an adult this was worth $10 to me. Finally beating a game (found out I was only 30 seconds away from beating it as a child after I beat it today) I never completed before. Did it in an hour as well. Glad I got to relive the experience.
Now time to watch a speedrunner do this in 6 mins.
Loved Out Of This World on SNES
OG gem, when a half hour game took you weeks to figure out because you weren't thinking outside the box.
Another World teleports your mind into the game!
Another World is the brain child of one Eric Chahi, who did pertty much everything except the music and broke new grounds using vector graphics and non broken visual only narrative - it was really ahead of it's time in many level and thanks to this remaster, it aged even better.
This game was a huge success and led Chahi to work with Infogrames for his next project, and then he left the industry for almost 20 years
Why does this sound so familiar?
This gamme is so art
This has been a favorite game of mine since I played the SNES version. The feeling of being disconnected in a mostly lonely and alien atmosphere, all while attempting to fumble your way through survival with ideas and guesswork feels relatable. The art style opens imagination with it's shadowed beasts and imperfect shapes as you explore your surroundings, where the only clear goal is to keep moving.
Childhood favorite, i'm 31 now i'm glad I took the time to beat it and claim all the achievements. This game kicked my A$$ as a kid and now as an adult. Feeling accomplished figured I would leave a review.
