A simple and rather linear top-down shooter in which the simple and linear means something good for a change.
Btw, do yourself a favor right from the start, dear newcomer. Play on Elite only, turn of the waypoints and hints, and self-impose one game limitation--as in trying not to use the compass to look up the next waypoint, and instead using only the map in inventory and memorizing the rooms and corridor's layouts. It'll create a more immersive, horror-like experience and help mitigate any sense of repetitiveness over time.
If having a good time was a disease, this game is the cure
AB 3: descent is the worst of the 3 Alien Breed games. It's like they run out of ideas and inspiration.
Interestingly, the shortcomings of the first 2 games are highlighted here, instead of being erased:
- the environments are really too dark this time, I understand they had to create such a setting because this time you are placed on the alien ship and there is no artificial light there but still.
- too much camera shaking and explosions.
- this time the game forces/fixes some camera angles too often so you can't control the camera in many parts of the game.
- it's really becoming too repetitive.
- the few new weapons they introduced are worse then the weapons in the first 2 games.
- the main bad guy, which has the control of the alien ship speaks to the main character all the time and mocks him and lauphs at him during the entire game. I found that exaggerated and irritating.
- the ending of the trilogy story is poor, unclear, disappointing, maybe a cliffhanger for other Alien Breed games.
- it's even shorter then the first and second Alien Breed games and multiplayer is dead so it's difficult to find people for the 3 coop levels.
On the other hand, it's still an ok isometric shooter, but this time I found it slightly more annoying then fun.
Alien Breed 3: Descent offers a fitting conclusion to a captivating series. The game masterfully blends narrow corridors, limited ammunition, and hordes of relentless aliens, creating a thrilling and immersive experience.
The tight, claustrophobic environments kept me on edge, while the constant threat of alien attacks demanded strategic thinking and precise resource management. The tension and adrenaline were palpable, making each encounter a heart-pounding ordeal.
The sense of accomplishment upon finishing the game was unparalleled. The final moments felt like a rebirth, a testament to the game’s gripping narrative and challenging gameplay. While I thoroughly enjoyed this intense adventure, it’s a journey I may not revisit. Alien Breed 3: Descent provided a memorable experience, and I’ll carry the memories of this thrilling escapade with me.

Cant get used to the control system. The "W" key should go forward in the direction the character is facing . It doesnt. Drove me nuts for the first 10 minutes then I gave up.
