Alien Breed is a real nostalgia trip for me and while maybe the 2010 series isn't the most impressive set of games to look at, they really hold up 15 years later in my opinion. Sure, the writing is a tad corny and maybe "borrowed" heavily from Dead Space but I won't let that spoil my fun. If you want something a little quirky and a tad goofy but otherwise truly solid games, the Alien Breed series is a great one to try!
WOW! This is a hidden gem if I've ever seen one! Not sure how I've completely missed this series until 2025; especially since this is basically a reboot of a classic series with roots in the early nineties that was a released on the legendary Amiga! One of the best gaming systems ever made and that I grew up with! :D
Story is cool, level design is MASTERFUL, combat is super fun and the game runs very well. It also has controller support.
You're welcome to come check out my blind playthrough on the highest difficulty on my lil let's play channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdOJR-VI_YM&ab_channel=OlofPlays
The Classic Amiga game Alien Breed is back with this re-mastered & re-invented single or co-op action shooter.
The original Amiga game was extremely tough, even in co-op mode and I never actually finished any of them, this revamp adds difficulty settings and even though its still challenging, you definitely feel like you have, much more of a chance to survive.
The story is a standard sci-fi one, set aboard space stations, infested with an alien presence.
Take control of your soldier and investigate the aftermath and a horror of an alien attack, the general gameplay loop is find keys to unlock areas, accessing terminals to activate or shutdown things to help you explore more of the area, all while fighting off the relentless hordes of small and large alien creatures.
Combat is mainly shooting but you also have a basic melee attack, you start off with 2 weapons, an assaults rifle and a shotgun, they can be upgrade and more weapons can be found or purchased.
You can also purchase grenades, armour and health upgrades and more.
Ammo and resources are milted, you will often find yourself running out and visiting the nearest computer terminal to buy and health kits, the combat also starts fairly simple but soon becomes challenging so make sure you have plenty or ammo and healing at all times.
There are some nods to the Alien film series with automated turrets you place, either by finding or buying them.
You can search lockers, corpses and will find logs to give you more insight into what happened, there are also some secrets to discover.
The action is always tense and exciting, explosions are often going off, the ship is shaking, dangers and disasters are around every corner. missions are varied, one minute you could be defending an area, next escorting a scientist to their destination, there are also some challenging boss fights.
You can play the whole game in single or multiplayer, saving happens at the Intex computer terminals and I recommend you save often.
Fans of the original may remember how tough it was and realise how this new game is much more forgiving, this doesn't mean you should take this for granted as the difficulty and challenge increase with later missions.
Graphics are excellent and capture the whole onboard a space ship / alien vibe, your player may move a little slow for some but you are an elite soldier and not an Olympic sprinter, special effects of fire, electric sparks and the overall look are excellent, some voice over is provided in cut scenes and terminals, sound is the usual shooter, explosions and alien creature sounds that do the job, music is also good and suits the game.
Whether you're a fan of the original Amiga classic or just looking for a new action / sci-fi shooter, I highly recommend all of these new Alien Breed games, this is the first of a trilogy.

I like the atmosphere of the game, and i do respect it since its one of the predecessors of top view alien genre and inspiration for my beloved alien swarm, but canot recomend, its an old game and time did no good to it
fix this thing
oh these 20 doors u gotta go through are blocked in some way
repeat till done
When this game came out I didn't have the computer strong enough to run this game.
Now I do.
The game is actually pretty good for what it is.
A horror - sci-fi - shooter.
Go here...shoot that thing over there...collect that there and so on....
It's not a game that the spoiled generation would appreciate I suppose.
This game here you need to try if you love video-games for more than just the latest graphics and player count.
5 levels, 1hr per level approximately. Solid fun.
I think I can make this game 30% better in 10 seconds. By NOT shaking the entire screen with explosion every 5 seconds. This has to be the most obnoxious *special* effect that I can remember. I get it, you're proud of it - and it's great. For the first 3 times. But when it goes on and on and on and on, it just made me nauseous and really difficult to enjoy what is a great looking game. Even the menu just keeps shaking and distorting as if to induce seizure.
Second thing is that the missions are most mundane of its kind, consist of the following:
1. Shut down the engine
2. Put the control 1
3. Find the key
4. Confirm the control 1 was done - I am not kidding, you need to confirm your action you did 15 seconds ago
5. Put the control 2
6. Find the key 2
7. Put the fire by going another place
8. you get the idea.
Between these steps you get to shoot some aliens
Another issue is that it's difficult to know where to go - because there is no map. There is a vague indicator to your next objective but the level design makes no sense and you have to go around in many instances. Who designed this place - the entire place is OHS nightmare. No voice dialogue or reasoning why you're doing this - you just keep doing the next thing.
Although it sounds harsh, I am frustrated because it was recommended by Metal Jesus and I know there is a great game underneath - it really does need some serious polish that we know will never come.
The only reason I still have this in my library is I forgot how to refund a game. It's too boring and honestly hard to explain. Play it for a few minutes, I really want someone to prove me wrong. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but personally it's not my cup of tea
I think this is very decent game. Remind me of old school top view shooter like alien shooter. The aliens design is mostly original too. but I think the mission is too long and have no impactfull moment that make me remember bout some scene and there's also only 1 boss fight for the whole game. maybe it could be better if you add some unique vehicle or gun stand to control on a certain mission or area. or maybe add more bosses too.
Works well on steam deck
Had this on xbox 360 and re brought it here for splitscreen and youv removed it ?? what the hell its the same for the other games too
You can't go wrong with classic mindless killing fun.
Short game that gets a little repetitive by the end, but it ends about the right time before it becomes annoying.
Ambushes happen often and there is little variation on that and you occasionally wait outside their holes waiting for the last alien to appear, which feels a little underwhelming. The boss fight at the end isn't very interesting and can be beaten by just moving while sprinting mostly.
I would recommend playing this with some form of controller.
The price for the trilogy pack is decent, maybe pick it up while on sale.
I did lose my save at one point and had to restart, but I would say the game is 4-6 hours long total.
A short game, which sets you as a marine in a ship infested with creatures. Sometime stressful, sometime tough, you do have to manage your ammunition quite carefully, which contributes to making it feel tense. I was originally not sold on the top view camera but, in combination with the ray of light of the lamptorch, it heightens the tension.
Fun little game. Controls seem a bit clunky but it is an old game. Worth it when on sale.
Misleading!!
do not be fooled. despite the clear title through extensive research i found no feasible way to breed the aforementioned alien. -80billion/10
