so very fun, played it with brother. gooned like crazy
one of only two games that's made me cry. 5/5 cant recommend enough.
So fun to play one this game. If you played one of Josef Fares later games you will definitely see so much resemblance. All from the gameplay to the dark humor put into this game. The story in itself felt like a bunch of random areas stuck together with duct tape, but it works good enough since the game focuses more on the great gameplay mechanics that each area has.
Truly a great game to play, and definitely something everyone should play!
I was excited for this game but it was glitchy, froze often, and would frequently crash. There was one particular part I couldn't make it past because it crashed every time. I eventually just gave up.
Cool game, creative world, fun puzzles
On Windows 10.
GTX 1070 and i7-6700.
It worked fine for me.
It's a good game. it's simple, it has a beautiful and sad story and the gameplay is interesting, though just a few actions were annoying to me.
I recommend exploring and interacting with everything and everyone in your first playthrough, so you can get all the game has to offer and the most fun out of it, with all the achievements (that are easy to get anyway), in a single run.
Amazing storyline and the gameplay is so unique. I heard for this game a long time ago and i finaly got the chance to play it. If u have a chance to buy it, get it. Thanks for the unforgetable experience.
Beautiful game with a moving story
My dad got hospitalized as I was progressing this game.
Crazy coincidence for real.
I hope he will bounce back to health and get discharged soon. Mother has to take care of him every night, she’s drained. My brother and I have to look after the house, he looked fine on the outside but I know he’s worried to death as well. As for me, I’m scared for the welfare of my family, I only cried on my way to school cuz I don’t want to bring their spirits down.
Sorry if I make you feel uncomforatble reading this. I have to get this off my chest at some point.
Main talk:
- The game is super good, the story is perfect, the puzzles are interesting and fun to solve.
Side note:
- I sucked at rowing the boat so bad that I somehow rowed backwards all the time. But I still managed to evade every whale’s jump-attack and reached the checkpoints.
- I love the achievements in this game, each of them is very well hidden. They’re worthy of being called “secret achievements”.
One of the most emotionally powerful games I've ever played.
It might look like a simple puzzle-adventure game at first glance, but it hits you with a surprisingly deep and heartfelt story. You control two brothers at the same time, and while it’s a bit awkward at first, the controls are part of the experience they actually help you connect with the characters in a very unique way.
The world is beautiful and full of subtle storytelling. There’s barely any dialogue, but it still manages to convey a lot through animations, environments, and small interactions. And the ending… without spoiling anything, let’s just say it left a mark.
It’s a short game, but every minute feels meaningful. If you like story-driven games and don’t mind a little emotional gut-punch, definitely give this one a shot.
Not trying to spoil anything but my eyes are still wet while I write this.
This was a cute game to play, nice story.
I played both brothers myself since the controls are not complex at all and you can play one hand per each brother, but it can also bit nicely played with 2 players locally.
Every so often I go back and replay this game. It never fails to bring me to tears.
I have played video games all of my life, and this is one of only two games I can think of that is completely next-level-elevated by the fact it is a video game and not anything else. There is a point in this game where the story begins to happen on the controller. Shortly after, there is a moment that was arguably the coolest moment I've ever felt in my hands in video games. If you're not that experienced with gaming or this kind of genre, you'll have a neat little, often utterly beautiful beyond all its competition (even for a game released in 2013) puzzle game that might catch you up here or there for a brief moment, the second little puzzle had me pausing for a moment, but once you smooth out the creases you won't have much trouble. If you're familiar with the genre, you'll find a comfortable breeze/flow through this game, assessing what the puzzle requires of you as you walk toward it and solving it in your stride. In this way, it kind of makes you lower your guard, and think you've seen everything it has to offer. Well... give it some time. The ride only lasts about 3 hours and I assure you, you'll be impacted by the end. 10/10. One of the most gaming-defining games I've played in my life. This would be about an 8/10 were it not a video game. As it stands it's one of the most format-defining/format-validating pieces of media I have ever consumed.
It's one of those games that sticks with you long after you've finished playing!
An amazing adventure game with great puzzles and a beautiful story!
The game masterfully combines emotional storytelling with gameplay that really pulls you in.
Even though the graphics are a bit old but some scenes are just mesmerizing.
Controls took a few attempts to get used to but it was challenging and super fun. I never though I would play a game with such a unique way of control.
For 100% fam: You don't have to grind this one. It's quite easy on 2nd playthrough even if you miss some in your 1st!
A must play and use a controller for a good experience.
Score: 5/5
What’s the brothers' favourite way to solve a problem? With dual processing power 🤣
a lovely game, different from most co ops. Really enjoyed it.
Gripping story. Atmospheric
i was gonna replay that game to get atleast most of the achievements but this game made me so depressed i'm not quite sure i wanna go through this again
Brothers - A tale of two son's, is a heartbreaking, beautifully written game, that follow's the journey of two brother's on their quest to get medicine for their sick father, all whilst travelling through a breathtakingly beautiful world along the way. The control concept of controlling two character's with one controller is rather unique, it is a little odd to get use to at first, only using half of the controller for each character but it's fun none the less and add's nice challenge to what is quite a simple puzzle platformer.
Honestly would highly recommend anyone check this game out if they haven't already!
Solid 8/10
Josef Fares and Hazelight at its earliest. Playing this one after all of Hazelight's current big 3, I can definitely see the inspiration and vision. Even with this being a few hours total in length, there is so much inspired gameplay, mechanics and story that you can really tell trickle into the future titles from Josef.
Enjoyable short game!
I love this game!
Its story is basic but very well told, its concept & mechanics are novel, again simple but fully explored in a game that is the perfect length for what it does. The ambience is very well realized, the music is good.
On a more personal level, this is the first game that made me think of mechanics as something that can & should support the story and the emotion that the game tries to instill. Plus it takes me back to simpler times.
I waited it to be harder to adapt, but t was quite easy, though interesting experience
No local co-op, misleading tag. Also, very silly not to include one in the game, would be the easiest thing to do.
Amazing game. Well produced. Atmospheric and emotional.
If you play this game at all, play it with a friend. The dual-joystick controls for controlling each of the brothers are not intuitive in solo play. Because of how the camera shifts and the location of the brothers on screen changes, you will quickly and repeatedly forget which side of the controller moves which brother, until you've spent a few seconds running into a wall off screen with one of them (or worse). The story would be alright if they didn't decide to add annoying made-up gibberish dialogue, made worse by the fact that you can pretty clearly tell what's happening through the body language of the characters alone. The music alternates between being poignant and grating. Even though I've never played the later co-op games from Josef Fares, you should probably stick to those.
If I hadn’t known about it beforehand, I wouldn’t believe this game came out in 2013. I’m truly impressed by the graphics—especially how sharp the shadows look (better than in some AAA games today). And with such a variety of levels, it’s only a little over 1GB on disk?! How?!
This game I'm sure is very good. I bought two copies so I could play with my Brother. .... BUT IT'S NOT CO-OP!!!. There's a remake that actual local co-op was added and a warning "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons remake was originally designed as a single player game''.
I feel like I enjoy this game more than I should, but damn what a great experience...
Oh this is a masterpiece. I wish I could more than recommend it. Go in blind and remember that you need a controller for it. I played it by myself and it was so good.
Being the oldest brother in the family, being seduced to my doom is exactly how I expect to die.
I love the split controller! How you could play it with someone else or alone. But I especially love how it works with end, how alone it feels to have the controller all to yourself and having to complete the puzzles by yourself and that you can only do it using the other half of the controller (using your brothers strength) the narrative design works beautifully and is one of the best examples of its use I have ever seen. I also like the art style a lot; its lack of details makes the characters quite cute and endearing. I love the contrast between the vibrant, warm-hued, big haired younger brother and the toned-down, cold-hued older brother. A realistic version of this would 100% take away from its unique look and charm.
This didn't really click with me, the gameplay was too simple, but the visuals are great and the whole narrative with no dialogue and it partly being told through the controller are great.
10/10
As the name says, Brothers A Tale of Two Sons is a game about two brothers through a journey; A beautiful and dangerous journey. Even though it's a short game, it's easily become a special experience. A special experience that can enjoy it in both solo or co-op.
+:
Gameplay is enjoyable in both solo or co-op
Smooth gameplay
Art design and environments are beautiful
Audible musics
Wonderful level design
Good story with nice narrative
Great direction
Same!
It Takes Two yılın oyununu almadan önce, Split Fiction çıkmadan önce Ferris buralardaydı. Oynanış olarak çok ham ve yer yer sıkıcı bir iş, iki kişi oynanaması çok kötü olsa da çok sağlam ve vurucu bir hikayeyle gönlümüzde yer edinebilmiş bir oyun.
Incredible game. Best story with no actual talking I've ever experienced. This one might make you cry.
Best story i have ever heard that has been told through characters I could not understand.
Fun little game that was more than just the gimmick it seems to be.
Depending how quickly you pick up the mechanic, the game starts a bit slow but picks up. Quick burn, plays fast. FYI there's an updated remake, but I own a toaster so I didn't want to risk having performance issues.
8/10
unbelievable, the story, how it's told. you've got to play it
good
Joseph used to make dark twisted games, but now he is making Dr. Hakim COLLABORATIONNNN!!!
Played on the Switch.
Too long, too dark, overloaded with unnecessary drama.
That’s not what you expect from cartoon style adventure.
I'd rather not play it and don’t recommend anyone to play.
I highly recommend playing it. It has powerful storytelling and interesting gameplay.
The atmosphere and the soundtrack are both really good as well. You see a lot of cool, varied, and at times disturbing areas.
The way you control the characters is pretty cool too. The vibration adds a lot to the cutscenes, and the platforming feels fun.
A beautiful and creative game. The controls initially confused me, but with time the brothers felt like an extension of myself. Quite possibly my favorite game on Steam. I'll remember it forever.
The story telling without any English dialog is absolutely amazing. I honestly wasn't expecting to feel emotionally connected to the characters. I can't recommend this game enough. My only advise is don't play when you're sad.

Enjoyed playing this game. Was a little difficult trying to control to players at the same time. But I managed to push through it and finish the game.
This game controls differently than any other game I've played. You are in control of two characters simultaneously, which takes some getting used to. The control is relatively simple, each character is controlled by one stick and one action button. Once I had a feel for the control, it flowed much better. The two character control allows for more variety in puzzles and actions. Gameplay consists of exploring areas and solving puzzles to progress. Later on you have to avoid traps and enemies. There is no combat.
The narrative is reminiscent of games like ICO, where all dialogue is in gibberish language. The two brothers communicate mostly by saying each other's name. The narrative is well designed. It is always clear what you are trying to accomplish. This is also a rare example of narrative development happening through the controller, though I can't explain how this is done without spoilers. The narrative itself runs a broad spectrum of feelings. The early sections are quite charming with lots of fun moments. The mood grows more serious and dangerous as the journey progresses, with many intense and disturbing moments intermixed with scenes of wonder and beauty.
It made a deep impression on me. It has been several years since I played it and I still remember it quite well. I am aware there is a remastered version now. I have not played the remaster.
It gave me the chills, the ending moved me to tears. Insanely great idea with the controls and how they are linked to the story towards the end, brilliant. Beautiful world, great music and simply an experience, an amazing narrative game.
