The Cave is a classic! I can't recommend it enough!
It's fine, but it really doesn't respect your time. For every minute spent working out a puzzle, there are four spent just moving around the level in the most basic manner. Walk here, climb that, jump there: repeat, repeat, repeat. Each run consists of four common areas and three character specific areas. There are seven characters and you can only take three on a run. That means you have to "play" through most of the content - most of it brain dead platforming - three times if you want to see each unique area and story. I didn't. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.
This game is really good. It's not Mario World, the jumps are pretty easy and players can't die. Great deal of replayability because there are 140 different parties you can take through the cave. If the party changes the Cave changes too so that the puzzles for those guys are available. Great graphics and overall pleasant moods.
I played this game for the first time as a young kid on xbox 360 and found myself seeking it out again over and over for years. This game is very fun and memorable with a lot of replay value and also funny! One of my favorites.
It's amazing. Buy it. You'll remember this one.
Great game, atrocious coop. One person does 90% of the work, the other just gets to watch and do something helpful every now and then, like carry an item or stand still on a platform. This doesn’t qualify as a coop game to me, it’s a solo game that you can play with an assistant if you want, that’s it, that’s the “coop” experience.
The characters, the story, the graphics, the voice acting, the humor, they’re all fantastic and I we really enjoyed those aspects.
But if you plan to play this coop and expect both players to participate equally, you’re going to be very, very disappointed. I felt so bad for my coop partner having nothing to do for most of the game that I insisted on having them play many of the solo parts because they were just sitting there watching me do stuff… its also just bizarre that if player 1 moves too fast, causing player 2 to go offscreen, player 2 instantly loses all control of their character lmao. Platforming with 2 people is a pain in the ass because of this, since you’re constantly backtracking the second your partner falls behind, or else you’ll just leave them behind…
We had plenty of laughs throughout, but I felt so bad for having suggested we play this game coop, because I might as well have played a funny solo game if we just wanted a laugh. I wanted to play a game together and that’s not what you get in the cave, one person does 90% of the work, the other person gets to watch.
I am a 52 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing The Cave. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son found this game at Christmas, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. Loaded into the game world and started playing but I was stuck on what you were supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he helped me. Loved it as it was the best time had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

I'm a huge Ron Gilbert fan, and The Cave does not disappoint. It's funny, quirky, and dark, with beautiful graphics. I'm playing it now for the third time, but this time I bought it for my husband to join me. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys adventure and puzzle games.
This is such a fun side scrolling game filled with puzzles. I grew up with this game on the xbox and have always loved it. It's very spooky and dark, but you can actually achieve good endings as well! Did not know that until I had bought the pc version and 100%ed the game. If you like the darkest of dark stories though, this game DEFINITELY has it.

Fun and okay puzzles. You need to replay the game multiple times with different set of characters to unlock all the achievements if you're a completionist.
Fun lil game that has unique mechanics and puzzles for the different characters. Puzzles are fun to figure out different ways to do them with different characters. For people who want a chill game this is one for you.
would recommend for the puzzles and graphics! the narration is very hit or miss, given Gilbert's very unique brand of humor that I don't always enjoy... but as a game, it's solid and very enjoyable to those who like puzzle games.
I wanted to like it but having to repeat the game 3 times with a childish narrator, simple but unintuitive puzzles and the slowness of the characters made me drop it after one run. It's not horrible but I think I would've liked more if I was younger.

Wonderful, beautiful, and humorous game about 7 individuals (I guess technically 8) with questionable pasts and personalities.
Comedy is ever-present both in dialogue (well, mostly monologue) and the environment, with little details here and there, and I find that the best thing about the game. The puzzles are pretty good too, all of them being logical. It may take a while, but nothing's impossible to figure out without Google.
100%-able in like 16 hours. Some of the achievements are sort of hidden.

i played this a lot when i was younger, and going back to it was a total blast! the puzzles are engaging enough to where on repeat playthroughs you won't get bored (mostly, there's like one segment i don't like), and there are a lot of good jokes, details, and characters! the artstyle is one of my favorites because of how specific and unique it is, and the character animations are super cool as well. personally i think it's worth the money, but you can wait for it to go on sale if you think it's too expensive as is (which is how i got it). either way i completely recommend this game :D
Really loved all the story's, would happily recommend it.
