Great collection of older flash minigames. Nothing too deep, but fun concepts nonetheless, good enough to spend some time. It also includes a lot of stuff about the development of the ideas, like sketches and prototypes. The whole thing is a steal at this price.
lots of cool stuff in here for edmund mcmillen fans, game selection though is a bit rough though
bonus content is great but each game ill score individually as i think that makes the most sense, though its relative to the collection
time fcuk is a puzzle platformer that really started getting on my nerves towards the end, and before that bored me, along with having a horrible bonus mode, 1/5
coil is a very weird game meant to be entirely based on intuition and tell a cryptic story, but its not as bad as some people make it out to be, 2/5
the meat boy prototype is obviously inferior to its full release but i think its still fun enough for what it is and theres a level in it called twin towers, 4/5
spewer is a 2d platformer based around a gimmick of spewing puke everywhere to do stuff like push objects or propel yourself, pretty fun but closer to the end the stages become more annoying and too precise for how uncontrollable the physics are, 3/5
A.V.G.M is a joke game designed to make fun of abusive tactics in games that were starting to crop up around the time of its release that are still seen in mass today. it is objectively the worst game here but given its a joke and how it executes on said joke i think its worth acknowledging, 2/5
triachnid is awful, it has a cool idea of moving the characters limbs around to control them and stick to walls, but it controls horribly and the physics will sometimes make you take damage that feels completely unearned or in rarer cases you just suddenly lose all your health and is super finnicky with it asking you to escort a ball to the end of most stages which will sometimes just unattach itself from you which is very hard to mitigate completely, 1/5
grey matter is a arcade high score type game where you can spend your points to gain buffs, and you get more points if you chain together 3 enemy kills of the same type in a row which gives you a multiplier that can just keep stacking allowing you to pretty easily snowball from the start of the game, but other than that its really fun, 4/5
i forgot to mention aether for a minute, but its pretty short but quite fun especially with the swinging physics, 3/5
It's a nice collection of edmunds older flash games. I will admit it is a little dumb you need to complete and do a lotta things just to unlock the comics or extra games but that's alright. My main issue is the achievements. I tried to 100% this game but I don't even fucking know anymore. The unknown in time fcuk is like the cotton alley in super meat boy. It's unfair and annoying. Having to click over like 40k times just for a achievement in A.V.G.M is fucking stupid. I'd recommend it but if your gonna try to 100% it then I'd just get an autoclicker for A.V.G.M or look up a tutorial for other stuff like Aether.
Love being able to revisit some of my favorite flash games as a kid.
A.V.G.M. makes me sad
Tip: When Edmund McMillen says "It's peanut-butter jelly time!", every gosh diddly darn person on the North-Western continent sits down and has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
That one Meatboy ending was kinda freaky, chat
they are literally just flash games but it killed some time in class, worth the $2
I'm going to rate all the games in this game WOAH!
Time Fcuk:
3/5
Its okay but it gets boring pretty easily
(CHAPTER 2 = 0.5/5 - Stupidly hard puzzles that require guides, too many rooms, game just overstayed it's welcome, more content wasn't needed)
(UNKNOWN = 0/5 - RNG Fest filled with absolute garbage, decided to use SAM to get specifically this one achievement so I could get Platinum God, I didn't feel like playing hours worth of troll levels)
Spewer:
4/5
One of the best ones in the package but I have to give it a 4 because of Pillow Fort because of obvious reasons and that disappointment rng mess of a final stage.
Coil:
0/5
It isn't even a game, doesn't have a clear objective either. ZZZZZZ
Aether:
1.5/5
It's just boring, all you do is fly around it's pretty meh. The Movement is pretty nice though
Triachnid:
2.5/5
It's good but It wasn't the best in my opinion, it just isn't something I'm into
Meat Boy:
4/5
It's really good but the arrow key controls suck so much ass, I wish you could change it.
Grey Matter:
4/5
Would be a 5 but the movement is so jank and it also uses arrow keys, which is CRAP
I also yelled several times at my monitor while trying to do expert because I suck
A.V.G.M:
0/5
It's a joke game where you just click a light lol, what else do you want me to say.
If you like Edmund games then you should get it, I think it's good (some games just suck), but this is all in MY OPINION! WOAH!
If you're familiar with Edmund's work this is a solid collection of his earlier, less developed games, polished up in a nicely presented collection. Some are even expanded, like Time Fcuk which has a whole extra 2nd chapter. I really like the inclusion of prototype builds and extra art. A good collection if you can get it for cheap.
The Basement Collection is a simple neat experience of previous proyect of the creator of the pack, the thing is that at the time of this review, is UNPLAYABLE. Open the game and you get stuck in the loading screen.
I saw this problem on my laptop (where I didn't play the game before, unlike my PC that is older), and if you check the forums, there are threads as far as 2021 reporting this problem that has not been adressed.
So unless you have an old PC, and really want to try this flash games out, don't buy the game.
GOOD GAME

Nothing changed, I'm still here for Steven.
mama
edmund mc gucky
It's Worth it for the bonus content alone.
great selection of amazing games! very worth the little money it costs - especially on sale
very good game it has some old flash games made by Edmund McMillen but there's one thing if it had controller support this would be very good
An interesting collection of games, to say the least. The games were fun... for the most part. But as you may be aware my dear reader, I am a completionist. To 100% the game is no easy feat indeed. A select few of the games were challenging, yet completable with dedication. Though... there are two of the games that were beyond what the rest of the collection could muster in terms of a "challenge", that is to say, if you were lucky. One of these two took a great amount of skill to complete, and the other relied simply on the individual at the reins: the community. Community submitted levels were used to create one of the bonus chapters, and to conquer said chapter meant to conquer the 'test' and 'impossible' levels formed by our community. If you are unlucky, or by any case a normal amount of lucky, you would come across a level that calls for certain glitches to be performed in order to complete them. I found myself filled with relief whenever I came across a level that could be deemed "normal". Though puzzling, and very frustrating, I had completed it after such a long time. The Basement Collection is fun; an enjoyable walk through the memories of Edmund McMillen, Adobe Flash, and the history behind their relationship. Though if that 100% medal tantalizes you as it does I, beware... you will sorely regret it.
If you play TBOI, there's Steven, spewer and meat boy.
Even if there games already free on Newgrounds, Time Fcuk carries this collection
edmund makes bangers
Good classic collection game, but I really HATE the Unknown. RNG piece of shet.
good ole mcmillen insanity collection
We're so Newgrounds
amazing game the only flaw was the Unknown didn't work when i won after 9 hours (i will get it)
Nostalgia
Its a cool experience to look at the past projects of a modern indie darling.
NO BASEMENT BUT ITS OK.
grey matter deserves more respect
I love edmund mc million
A collection of great games with McMillen's unique art style.
Frustrating at times, yes; but very fun nonetheless.
its fun yeah, but you can just go on newgrounds and play them for free
According to all known laws
of aviation,
there is no way a bee
should be able to fly.
Its wings are too small to get
its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway
because bees don't care
what humans think is impossible.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Yellow, black. Yellow, black.
Ooh, black and yellow!
Let's shake it up a little.
Barry! Breakfast is ready!
Ooming!
Hang on a second.
Hello?
- Barry?
- Adam?
- Oan you believe this is happening?
- I can't. I'll pick you up.
Looking sharp.
Use the stairs. Your father
paid good money for those.
Sorry. I'm excited.
Here's the graduate.
We're very proud of you, son.
A perfect report card, all B's.
Very proud.
Ma! I got a thing going here.
- You got lint on your fuzz.
- Ow! That's me!
- Wave to us! We'll be in row 118,000.
- Bye!
Barry, I told you,
stop flying in the house!
- Hey, Adam.
- Hey, Barry.
- Is that fuzz gel?
- A little. Special day, graduation.
Never thought I'd make it.
Three days grade school,
three days high school.
Those were awkward.
Three days college. I'm glad I took
a day and hitchhiked around the hive.
You did come back different.
- Hi, Barry.
- Artie, growing a mustache? Looks good.
- Hear about Frankie?
- Yeah.
- You going to the funeral?
- No, I'm not going.
Everybody knows,
sting someone, you die.
Don't waste it on a squirrel.
Such a hothead.
I guess he could have
just gotten out of the way.
I love this incorporating
an amusement park into our day.
That's why we don't need vacations.
Boy, quite a bit of pomp...
under the circumstances.
- Well, Adam, today we are men.
- We are!
- Bee-men.
- Amen!
Hallelujah!
Students, faculty, distinguished bees,
please welcome Dean Buzzwell.
Welcome, New Hive Oity
graduating class of...
...9:15.
That concludes our ceremonies.
And begins your career
at Honex Industries!
Will we pick ourjob today?
I heard it's just orientation.
Heads up! Here we go.
Keep your hands and antennas
inside the tram at all times.
- Wonder what it'll be like?
- A little scary.
Welcome to Honex,
a division of Honesco
and a part of the Hexagon Group.
This is it!
Wow.
Wow.
We know that you, as a bee,
have worked your whole life
to get to the point where you
can work for your whole life.
Honey begins when our valiant Pollen
Jocks bring the nectar to the hive.
Our top-secret formula
is automatically color-corrected,
scent-adjusted and bubble-contoured
into this soothing sweet syrup
with its distinctive
golden glow you know as...
Honey!
- That girl was hot.
- She's my cousin!
- She is?
- Yes, we're all cousins.
- Right. You're right.
- At Honex, we constantly strive
to improve every aspect
of bee existence.
These bees are stress-testing
a new helmet technology.
- What do you think he makes?
- Not enough.
Here we have our latest advancement,
the Krelman.
- What does that do?
- Oatches that little strand of honey
that hangs after you pour it.
Saves us millions.
Oan anyone work on the Krelman?
Of course. Most bee jobs are
small ones. But bees know
that every small job,
if it's done well, means a lot.
But choose carefully
because you'll stay in the job
you pick for the rest of your life.
The same job the rest of your life?
I didn't know that.
What's the difference?
You'll be happy to know that bees,
as a species, haven't had one day off
in 27 million years.
So you'll just work us to death?
We'll sure try.
Wow! That blew my mind!
"What's the difference?"
How can you say that?
One job forever?
That's an insane choice to have to make.
I'm relieved. Now we only have
to make one decision in life.
But, Adam, how could they
never have told us that?
Why would you question anything?
We're bees.
We're the most perfectly
functioning society on Earth.
You ever think maybe things
work a little too well here?
Like what? Give me one example.
I don't know. But you know
what I'm talking about.
Please clear the gate.
Royal Nectar Force on approach.
Wait a second. Oheck it out.
- Hey, those are Pollen Jocks!
- Wow.
I've never seen them this close.
They know what it's like
outside the hive.
Yeah, but some don't come back.
- Hey, Jocks!
- Hi, Jocks!
You guys did great!
You're monsters!
You're sky freaks! I love it! I love it!
- I wonder where they were.
- I don't know.
Their day's not planned.
Outside the hive, flying who knows
where, doing who knows what.
You can'tjust decide to be a Pollen
Jock. You have to be bred for that.
Right.
Look. That's more pollen
than you and I will see in a lifetime.
It's just a status symbol.
Bees make too much of it.
Perhaps. Unless you're wearing it
and the ladies see you wearing it.
Those ladies?
Aren't they our cousins too?
Distant. Distant.
Look at these two.
- Oouple of Hive Harrys.
- Let's have fun with them.
It must be dangerous
being a Pollen Jock.
Yeah. Once a bear pinned me
against a mushroom!
He had a paw on my throat,
and with the other, he was slapping me!
- Oh, my!
- I never thought I'd knock him out.
What were you doing during this?
Trying to alert the authorities.
I can autograph that.
A little gusty out there today,
wasn't it, comrades?
Yeah. Gusty.
We're hitting a sunflower patch
six miles from here tomorrow.
- Six miles, huh?
- Barry!
A puddle jump for us,
but maybe you're not up for it.
- Maybe I am.
- You are not!
We're going 0900 at J-Gate.
What do you think, buzzy-boy?
Are you bee enough?
I might be. It all depends
on what 0900 means.
Hey, Honex!
Dad, you surprised me.
You decide what you're interested in?
- Well, there's a lot of choices.
- But you only get one.
Do you ever get bored
doing the same job every day?
Son, let me tell you about stirring.
You grab that stick, and you just
move it around, and you stir it around.
You get yourself into a rhythm.
It's a beautiful thing.
You know, Dad,
the more I think about it,
maybe the honey field
just isn't right for me.
You were thinking of what,
making balloon animals?
That's a bad job
for a guy with a stinger.
Janet, your son's not sure
he wants to go into honey!
- Barry, you are so funny sometimes.
- I'm not trying to be funny.
You're not funny! You're going
into honey. Our son, the stirrer!
- You're gonna be a stirrer?
- No one's listening to me!
Wait till you see the sticks I have.
I could say anything right now.
I'm gonna get an ant tattoo!
Let's open some honey and celebrate!
Maybe I'll pierce my thorax.
Shave my antennae.
Shack up with a grasshopper. Get
a gold tooth and call everybody "dawg"!
I'm so proud.
- We're starting work today!
- Today's the day.
Oome on! All the good jobs
will be gone.
Yeah, right.
Pollen counting, stunt bee, pouring,
stirrer, front desk, hair removal...
- Is it still available?
- Hang on. Two left!
One of them's yours! Oongratulations!
Step to the side.
- What'd you get?
- Picking crud out. Stellar!
Wow!
Oouple of newbies?
Yes, sir! Our first day! We are ready!
Make your choice.
- You want to go first?
- No, you go.
Oh, my. What's available?
Restroom attendant's open,
not for the reason you think.
- Any chance of getting the Krelman?
- Sure, you're on.
I'm sorry, the Krelman just closed out.
Wax monkey's always open.
The Krelman opened up again.
What happened?
A bee died. Makes an opening. See?
He's dead. Another dead one.
Deady. Deadified. Two more dead.
Dead from the neck up.
Dead from the neck down. That's life!
Oh, this is so hard!
Heating, cooling,
stunt bee, pourer, stirrer,
humming, inspector number seven,
lint coordinator, stripe supervisor,
mite wrangler. Barry, what
do you think I should... Barry?
Barry!
All right, we've got the sunflower patch
in quadrant nine...
What happened to you?
Where are you?
- I'm going out.
- Out? Out where?
- Out there.
- Oh, no!
I have to, before I go
to work for the rest of my life.
You're gonna die! You're crazy! Hello?
Another call coming in.
If anyone's feeling brave,
there's a Korean deli on 83rd
that gets their roses today.
Hey, guys.
- Look at that.
- Isn't that the kid we saw yesterday?
Hold it, son, flight deck's restricted.
It's OK, Lou. We're gonna take him up.
Really? Feeling lucky, are you?
