I grabbed a two-pack of licenses while the game was on sale a few years ago, as my brother and I live across the country from each other and wanted a few more games in common in our libraries to play together. Honestly, I'd have paid the full $6 for the two-pack. For a basic tower defense game, this is pretty good. (Please note, I have not played Cubemen 2.)
The game has several modes and modifiers for each of those modes. There's a basic tower defense mode, a skirmish mode and a mayhem mode. To date, I have limited experience with the skirmish and mayhem modes, as the online multiplayer is essentially dead (my guess is everyone moved to Cubemen 2). The only time I get to play online these days is when my brother is actually online. Single-player tower defense is a blast, though. There's a wide array of maps, with user-created maps available for download. You can customize player/team colors, views (top down or 3D), and play speed. They give you a decent selection of troops. At the end of each round, you're graded with a complete breakdown of what happened and awarded a medal indicating how you did (bronze, silver, gold and platinum).
The main downside is the achievements may be difficult to 100% without boosting. At $3 a license, though, it shouldn't be too difficult to grab a few copies for friends and organize a game night.
Now, while I partially agree with a lot of the negative reviews (especially the ones mentioning how simple the game really is), I'm heavily biased and believe that they might be too harsh, and by that point perhaps incorrect.
I really love this game, especially since I used to have it on my mother's Kindle Fire back when I was really young!
I honestly think the game is underrated, but I say you should take a look at Cubemen 2, which has most of the same + more. If there's one unifying factor between the games though, it's the absolutely amazing soundtrack. It's worth a listen!
Also, to the people complaining about the multiplayer's lack of...well, multiple players...this game is from early 2012 and has a very small playerbase to begin with. Always consider that!
tl;dr: It's an "acquired taste" kind of game. It's very simple and may not be worth $4 to you, but it's charming and has a great OST. I suggest Cubemen 2, though!
A good review to read would be the top overall one by Aro!
Cubemen
Pros-
#1.Cheap
You can buy for $3.99 with no sale.
#2.It is a basic strategy/tower defense game
#3.Multiplayer
I have no idea if this still works?
Cons-
#1.There is so many better strategy and tower defense games to play over this
The Bottom Line -
The game is still ok but I will probably never play it again and I dont suggest you buy it.Against humans it would be better but I still would say you should play another game.
The game looks nice, but it isn't balanced well. It falls into the classic strategy game trap where often the best strategy is to spawn a bunch of weak units and quickly surround the enemy base before they're able to do anything. Once you figure out this strategy, you win. The enemy has no way to counter it.
the game was so boring i fell asleep while type............ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
It's very simple. A tower defense game that has nearly zero challenge. Most of the time you can just rush to the enemy spawn point and win the game easily. The game offers a cross-platform multiplayer which is dead and its probably because the balance problem. Not worth anymore its dead.
Could not find a reason to like this game. It is a simple tower defense game, without a theme or story. Tried three times to get into this game, but there was just nothing there for me to enjoy. It was so bland! Maybe not my type of game.
Someone spent a lot of time making this very polished, decent sound effects, and it has a three-dimensional appearance, so it may appeal to fans of the TD-style, at discount. Maybe this is a fun game to play head-to-head?
Technically, I played this on ubuntu 18.10 with radeon mesa graphic drivers. Cubemen uses the Unity game engine.
I bought this game a lot of time ago with something like 75% discount. The story mode is very intresting and funny, but no one plays the multiplayer. I recommend this game at all the people that have someone to play with and to all those who like spend some time with a simple single player.
Cubemen is a tower defense game by where you place moveable soliders (the towers) to defend your spawn from the enemy onslaught.
Pros:
-Art style. I mean just look at it.
-The cubemen (all classes) have their specific purpose.
-All levels can be played as vs with 2 people.
-Custom levels (make your own/download)
-Pretty good difficulty (minus a few levels that have spikes)
-Alternative modes, like rockets only, limited units, etc.
Cons:
If i can think of one major con it is that the general loop is mostly the same from level to level. You start having to build the cheapest units and then just survive long enough to build rocket, heal, and laser units. It isnt always the case, but most of the time, that was my strategy. You could beat the levels in other ways.
Overall, i would give it something like a 7.3. Not amazing, but not bad.
Cubemen is a strategy tower defense game, where you and your army of cubes defend the enemy forces from taking over you base.
I had 100+ hours on my phone, so I have experience beyond Steam.
Pros:
-Easy gameplay
-Addictive
-Great soundtrack
-Easy controls
-Custom skins for cubes and levels
-Hilarious
-Fairly Quick gameplay
-Different gamemodes
-Easy to develop strategies
Cons:
-Not many people play it anymore
-Singleplayer can get pretty boring after a while
- no storymode (but the second game has one)
- When you develop a strategy, if becomes repetive and boring.
I will reccomend this game, but I'd reccomend you either gift or get your friends to buy it as well so you can
play together so it won't get as boring as quick. But if your looking for a fungame to last you a couple days, I'd also reccomend it.
7.5/10
Satisfying tower defense in a simplistic setting, with a decent selection of maps and an array of gameplay options.
The best buck I've spent in recent memory.

Cubemen is a fairly simple but charming real-time strategy game, set in a world of cubes. Each Cubeman has his own strengths, weaknesses, and pricetag, but all serve to dominate the enemy and protect your base.
But if for nothing else, get this game for its soundtrack.
Would be a nice strategy game , but it is way too easy to reach a perfect stalemate , if you don't end the match at the first few minutes of the match. I fought a guy and we reached a perfect stalemate , he sent his soldiers to try and beat me , but my soldiers and everything else killed the incoming enemy soldiers , same with the soldiers I send , I send them he kills them , he sends soldiers I kill them. There are maps where a perfect stalemate is not easy to do , but they are meant to be played by 4-6 people.
I give it 6/10 , I guess.
A fun little strategy game -> Which is good for 10-30mins play and if you want – more. I spent many hours playing it and I recommend it to everyone who wants a little shooting and strategy :)))
Cubeman is a very barebones strategy game. The idea is pretty simple: You're given a variety of nondescript cubic soldiers, all of which require a certain amount of resources to be summoned, and are tasked with positioning them on the battlefield in a way that will give you control over your opponent. All units perform a different task and all of them do better under certain conditions, so choosing where to place each of them is vital to your victory.
The gameplay, albeit solid, can be kind of slow and boring at times. Its basic nature makes it so that there isn't a lot of room for strategy in it: Position your units correctly, and soon you can start spamming heavy-hitters, giving your opponent little to no room for recovery. It feels more like a slaughterfest than it does like an actual strategy game. The online community is pretty much dead, and after you figure out the game mechanics, beating the AI opponents isn't too hard.
Graphically, there isn't much to say: They don't suck, but they're not very appealing either. I give the designers credit for giving you the option to customize how your soldiers and the levels look. A+ for going the extra mile.
The soundtrack is actually pretty good. It's not something I would listen to on my free time, but I took notice of it when I first started the game and was very pleased with it while I played. Deserves a special mention because of that.
In the end, I think cubemen will appeal more to those who aren't very into the RTS genera and looking for something simple that will help them get into it. It's a very solid game and it can definitively be a lot of fun if you have a friend to play with. For its low pricetag, it’s definitively a worthwhile deal.
One of my all time favorites, no doubt 'bout it! Haven't played it in a bit, getting back to it and I realize what I've been missing. A great action/tower defense game. Although, the player base is kinda dead, real shame. But if you've got some friends (you do have friends right..?) get them together and hop into an online match. Its that simple foo!
But for-real, this game is def worth the few $ it costs, and the developers (based off their interaction on the forums) are real peeps, support em!
Awesome cool little tactic game.
I Love it. And to say true, I played both , also Cubemen 2 but idk why this one I prefer more.
In second pat its too much shit around. Like same game but putted so much uselless make up on it.
U can play this game basicaly anitime, its have just 150 MB, starting very fast, cool nice graphics,
and u can choose is u want to fight just short game against some easy enemy bot or u wanna long
and tacticaly beautiful game with players online.
I really recoment this little game ^_^ I enjoyed it a lot.
Tower Defense. It is really cool. Cheap enough to buy 2-4 copies and play with your friends. Me and my friend played this and had fun beating eachother on the 25 different maps. Its a blast.
This game is really good for a strategy game, (I'm Not the biggest strategy game fan,) and is really fun. I of course like trying new things, and I'm glad I tried this one. I'd give it 4 out of 5. The sequel came out recently and I have yet to play it, but the first one is definitley worth trying and I get a good vibe out of this game. Two big thombs up for the creators and the game itself. CUBEMEN!
Yet another tower defense game. Cubemen has no upgradeable towers. Instead of towers you use cubemen (duh). They are put on cube blocks and can actually move around freely. But they're not upgradeable. During my playtime it came down to spamming enough men to kill the incoming enemy forces. There were very little tactics involved.
There's a bit of fun to be had, I guess. I just expected more strategy from a tower defense game.
