This is a beautiful game teaching one to not get stuck in one out look but to view things differently from different angles to strategically solve the puzzles. The art and music is lovely as well.
Awesome music, ambient and mechanics: the mechanic of going backwards is so convenient for completing the puzzles.
Shake the tree with gravity,
An apple thuds you awake.
Look around at solid ground,
You realize your mistake.
What did that apple do to me?
This is definitely not reality!
Why do I control gravity?
Who put all these puzzles here?
Why the hell did I just veer?
Rewind and shed no tear.
The mirror is no clearer,
Pure madness goes on.
Problem solve evolve,
Until the mind is gone.
Absolutely stunning and very unique piece of art, that also has fun and interesting puzzle problems. The puzzles are not super hard, and they are pretty quick to solve, but there is still a nice progression, so it doesn't just feel like a pure art piece.
I might be biased though, Escher has been my favorite artist ever since I was a toddler, so this game is like the best thing I could possibly wish for.
Also, this game and Braid are very very similar. And both are great games.
It does exist
The visual style is quite striking and the structure of the game is very similar to Braid in many regards, with a thematic hub world leading to each of the sections that carries with it an implicit sense of purpose and metaphor. Unfortunately, while there is definitely competence and cleverness at play in many cases, the flow of the game progression feels stunted and weak. Many puzzles feel pointlessly long or involved in ways that aren't truly testing your ability to expand your knowledge, but rather giving you busywork based on something the game just taught you.
While there does seem to be more going on in the game, it feels too opaque to draw much valuable meaning or emotion from it. I believe that it is significant and important to someone, but that person definitely was not me.
Without an overarching meaning or story to drive it forward and with overall dissatisfying puzzle design, there simply isn't enough left for me to have any real reason to recommend playing this over a multitude of other, better puzzle games.
I eventually give up to walk through the game, I finally admit 4.6 Archway nonsense.
A hard puzzle is a thing, a stupid-designed puzzle requires almost hacking and ultra-lucky action timing is another thing.
Not recommended, it's a pity for the great art style and gravity inspiration.
The Bridge is a perfectly competent puzzle platformer with a neat style, but unfortunately I just couldn't really get into it. It's a bit too slow and imprecise for my taste.
