In Andergast, whose inhabitants are considered to be notoriously superstitious, King Efferdan awaits a state visit from high-ranking dignitaries. For centuries the kingdom has been at odds with neighboring Nostria, but now first steps are being undertaken toward a lasting peace. But a plague of crows troubles the king, for the birds are acting with unusual aggressiveness, even attacking humans. Moreover, there are those among the citizens of Andergast who swear that the crows are bringing them dark nightmares. As the belligerent creatures infiltrate even the castle itself, the king seeks a skilled bird catcher - an opportunity for young Geron to prove that the reputation for ill luck that has followed him since childhood is undeserved. Following an audience with the king, the prestigious task is assigned to him. However, not only does his task prove unexpectedly difficult, but it also turns out to be the first step of the greatest adventure of his life, which will lead him to the borders of the charted lands of Aventuria and beyond.

the kind of game that artistically inspires you
This is a recommendation, but not a particularly strong one. Chains of Satinav is a mediocre adventure game, with a barely likeable protagonist. However, it provides a pretty authentic (in both good ways and bad) window into the vintage point and click adventure experience. The music is good, the story development interesting (although not consistently), the world has an exquisite backstory, and the stark visual contrast between main character's hometown when he leaves and when he returns at the end of the game drives home that his actions have considerable consequences. The game is worth experiencing for the story alone, and that's the most important point.
The puzzles are challenging, but logical - which was a pleasant surprise. And the Crow character was a highlight of my playthrough - very well written and voice-acted.
One thing to be mindful of - this isn't an adventure with a lot of comedic undertones, although there are some parts of the game that are funny. Some of these solutions are pretty morbid, especially in later chapters. An example? Geron (main character) at some point in the story needs some bait to attract ravens. The solution to that is to use the knife to cut some meat off a dead horse, stick it on a broken pole that used to hold a ritualistic sacrifice, and stick the pole into a pile of human skulls... The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav is certainly a far cry from the more comedic and well-known Monkey Island series.
Also - the visuals are very good in static, but in motion the animations look pretty ugly.
There's an addition of a decent break/repair mechanic, but that felt a bit underused.

Very good !!!
Very enjoyable.
A truly magical game with wonderful artwork, surreal and fantastical landscapes and a captivating story. The journey into fairyland was particularly inspiring. The designers were able the capture the subtle, mystical, otherness of the fairy's homeland in a very Tolkien-esque manner that reminds me of his story Smith of Wooton Major, thus presenting their version of the "Wonderland" trope in a satisfying way.
That said, some of the puzzles were a bit difficult, and not particularly straightforward. A few subtle hints here and there may have been helpful. Love this game.
8/10
A silly point-and-click
Pretty fun for point & click. Enjoyable story.
kinda meh, but I guess I'd still recommend it compared to not recommending it
the option to highlight interactions really helps a lot if you're stuck, and you can just use the mouse wheel to move through the inventory
you could also turn it off if you don't want it
Graphics, audio and general story are ok (esp. if you know thr RPG).
But: Most puzzles are boring, with lots of running back and forth.
Also, solutions are often unrealistic - trial and error sometimes works better than logical thinking.
Buy it for a story in the world of The Dark Eye, but don't buy it if you are looking for a good point-and-click adventure.
What a great story! Loved it, with challenging puzzles also.
Good art, Good story and Good price. What do you want more?
Only for fans 4/10!
You! It's you! You spell doom!
Really wish Daedalic would make more point and click games of this art style! Both this game and its squeal Memoria are some of my absolute favs. Please play !!
This game is a hidden gem for fans of dark fantasy adventures. Chains of Satinav delivers a compelling story filled with mystery, magic, and unforgettable characters. The hand-painted backgrounds are breathtaking, creating a deeply immersive experience that pulls you right into the world of Aventuria. The puzzles are well-designed, challenging yet fair, and the story had me hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who loves story-driven games and the Dark Eye universe.
В целом поиграть можно
Poorly made. You can find good examples of simple image driven story or a quest puzzle but what carries them is a decent voice of an actor, here you do not have it nor do you have proper cut scenes with voice over where characters speak pass each other, that are very clunky and non immersive. The way images and color balance put together is not good at all too. Very unclear what game expects some times you do, opening game scene is clear example of this.
A fun old-school point-and-click adventure with beautiful hand-painted visuals, mostly fun riddles and a well-balanced gameplay - very rarely does one get stuck, but it's still challenging. The only two downsides are the voice acting in English (play it in German if you can) and the animations - not because they were low quality, there should just be more of them to make the game feel more polished. What I probably loved the most about the game is the world of Schwarze Auge - a nice balance of a fairytale story and dark fantasy elements.
excellent story telling and soundtrack.

Tl;dr - it's actually a good game, but an unfixed gamebreaking bug prevents me from recommending it.
Super fun story puzzle game!
