Palworld

Crashes every single time you fast travel, terrain and hitboxes absolutely suck, input delay and inability to press buttons at times and sometimes the grapple gun will straight up not work. For a game that has been in Early Access for a year, you'd think they would have fixed some of the bugs that were first in it. The game itself is good, not a ton of content, but still a decent game. Besides the fact that the same bugs are still here and new ones have piled on. I wish the devs would focus on fixing it rather than just DUMPING content into it. If the devs fix the bugs, then this would be a pretty good game.

Overall a great survival sandbox with a lot of content and progression. No doubt, it really can sink its teeth into your free time and not let go. I have some issues with it, I think there's a lot of missed potential, things they could fix, but at least for now, on the surface - it's fun. I enjoyed a lot of aspects of this game and got a lot of satisfying playtime out of it.



I love the Pal designs - call it ripoff or whatever you will, but it's distinct enough that I never get them confused with critters from Other Series. They borrow most of the design language and some bits are definitely noticeably hacked together in a design sense, but as far as I'm concerned, it's all come together to make a game that's immensely more fast-paced, beautiful, and mechanically satisfying than those Other Series games ever have managed to achieve.

Where it falls short is its level of polish. I think they have good bones here; nothing's particularly poorly designed or broken. I can hardly ask for much more when it comes to the gameplay loop, traversal and combat. But the weak link is the sense that this world is paper-thin. That's the one thing that Other Series does REALLY well, to the point where they force you through arduous cutscenes and unskippable dialogue just because they NEED that world to feel alive, fleshed-out and believable, to sell you on an epic journey you're about to take. While on the surface this game looks better than those ever did, and the journey you go on genuinely pulls off "epic" so much better, it comes with this sense that everything is just skin-deep. It lets what you do speak for itself, but there's so little context outside of what you're doing in a mechanical sense, that even the narratively-interesting engagements you get into don't end up feeling interesting in the moment. Bosses have names and presumably lore (who's reading those text logs, anyway?) but there's no attempt made to stage any kind of 'scripted' content and that is absolutely to the game's detriment, IMO. The scope and scale of the experience is massive, but it feels more like reaching the end of a long, grinding treadmill rather than achieving recognition as a strong Pal tamer in this world they've made. Not having proper cities or overarching story (or even putting together 'story' content in the form of effectively sidequests so they can be skipped/ignored) is doing the game no favors.

While running around the open world and building up your bases and teams is satisfying, the game's entire payoff is in the journey, not the destination. At the end there's nothing to do, nothing to seek out, aside from finding harder and harder fights and finally getting to make them ragdoll around. It's anticlimactic, in a sense, from the beginning to the end. There's no sense of buildup outside of some intro cutscenes for tower bosses. You don't fight through their towers to reach them, you just teleport into a copy-pasted combat arena to kill each other. You aren't building up toward some end goal, like getting all of the "badges" or competing in a grand tournament. You don't speak to the major "story" battles before or after their fights. There doesn't seem to be a reason you can respawn and teleport. People in the game world don't feel like they're filling out a believable place; they're either shopkeepers, enemies or scared sitting at a campfire.



I don't know if any of this is intended to be fleshed out in the future, but I hope it is. If anything, I feel like the gameplay loop and even the long-term "chase" content toward the end plus all the ways you can enjoy multiplayer and the laundry list of customizations you can make to the gameplay (Pals being able to die in combat really should be a default, although I'd prefer it to be fleshed out more - ie, needing to rush them to treatment after a KO, that sort of thing) make for plenty of content to fill out a really satisfying long-term experience, here.

Really, if what you're after is some light survival, base-building and crafting, and absolutely disrupting the environment as you capture everything that moves, this game is a hell of a drug. I just wish that, looking back on the ~80 or so hours it took me to hit endgame, it had more of a fleshed-out world and characters to engage with along the way.

I don't need a story, and I wouldn't say this game is incomplete without more dialogue and scripted sequences. But I think they really should take a look at some of the better content from Other Series and think of ways to incorporate more memorable and unique setpiece content into gameplay - bring the world to life as something I WANT to dig into text logs and talk to random guards to learn more about. And honestly, really re-think the default world options. Palworld has always intrigued me for its willingness to look like a cute critter catcher game while crossing those taboo "kids' game" lines - it has a golden opportunity for players to live out some truly memorable and interesting emergent experiences, but it feels like the devs didn't bother to flesh out any decent ways for failure to be a real threat/fear for players and the default settings basically make the worst punishment boil down to "go back to base, use other critters for a while".



It feels like there's tons of potential here, especially with this game's massive viral success. Right now, it's a fun game, but not a fulfilling world that makes you want to be a part of it. A good survival game, good monster collecting game, good exploration and base building game, zero reason to stick in your mind once it's over except to think about how much you want to curl up with a Chillet. It could be so much more, but if future updates just push "this but more of it" then it'll always be just "good".

Genuinely the worst late game experience of any game I've ever played. Enemy health and damage output instantly spikes by a factor of ten once you pass level 50, while the legendary blueprints capable of actually killing them have such astronomically low spawn rates that collecting every single one would require, without exaggeration, 135,000 hours of gameplay.

Even at its best, it's just an inferior ARK. It also somehow runs worse, which is absolutely astounding.

I went in expecting this to be great and it still exceeded my expectations! I didn't once think about picking up another game and taking a break while I was playing through this.

+ Positives:

+ I know a lot of people make comparisons to Pokemon and while yes there are some, I find Palworld is a lot more innovative with mechanics and feels more involved. This is so much more than just some pokemon wannabe clone. It's its own thing and it excels at most of what it does.
+ There is an astonishing amount of content to play through. The game is still EA and it took me 160 hours to get all achievements while also relaxing and just enjoying the game. Catching pals, crafting, breeding, boss fights, gathering, mining, dungeon exploration as well as a big world to explore. You can ride some pals, fly on some pals or put some on your shoulder so they can be the cutest killing machines who field a machine gun and fight with you.
+ Breeding feels very in depth and you can lose hours if you fall into the rabbit hole of trying to breed with specific traits onto a pal.
+ The game can offer a challenge when it comes to boss fights. While the first few are pretty simple, the later ones can be a little difficult even on normal difficulty, and take preparation. It's fun working to put together your little super team to beat those bosses you got your ass kicked by.
+ If a challenge isn't your thing, there are world settings that will make it an easier experience. There's also a lot of options in general that allow you to change drop rates, capture chance etc. On the flip side, you can also make it extremely tough if that's your thing!
+ The summoned bosses are a lot of fun! Difficult and take preparation, but feels great when you see their defeat.
+ Love the pal designs! Some of them must have taken a great deal of imagination with design and description.

- Negative:

- Tower bosses are scaled to how many people enter, but I do strongly believe the oil rigs are not. The last one doesn't feel balanced for a solo player, and instead feels like it was created with a team of four in mind. Can require some cheese tactics to get it done without getting completely obliterated.

Great game, and A+ Devs for making it AND having the willingness to stand up for smaller devs everywhere with their success.

I got the game because Nintendo said it was like Pokémon, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. This game is so much more! There is always something to do. You're not just wondering around doing nonsense after 10hrs of gameplay. After 10 years of disappointment, I finally fell in love with capture monster games again. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

The game is fantastic. The comparison to Pokemon is just flat out wrong. Yes it is a monster collecting game, yes monsters have "types" that are stronger against some and weaker to others, and yes you throw spheres to capture the Pal, but honestly that's where it ends. Its open world so you can go anywhere and do anything you want. There are rewards for capturing the same Pal over and over. You can take a bunch of the same Pal and basically put them into a machine that fuses their essence into your stronger version of the Pal to make it even stronger. There is so many layers to the game of how and what you do. It's far closer to Ark than it is to pokemon. Base building and crafting survival is the name of the game alongside optimized production of goods. Oh yeah you can breed and capture Pals to be fighters, or workers, or for specific purposes like making gliding better, or as supporting a single super Pal you've created.

It's an incredible game that doesn't deserve what Nintendo and the pokemon company are trying to do which is tantamount to bullying a company that did something great that has a passing resemblance of the market you have tried to corner. I have owned EVERY pokemon game since the original red & blue up to black & white including the remakes. What they are doing is not okay and honestly just puts me off from wanting to purchase their future products.

So buy Palworld. Support the devs. If you like survival crafting games and creature collectors then you will enjoy this. It's not even out of EA yet and there is SO much to do and so much more to come.

Nintendo has gotten so greedy and lazy that they see how popular this game got and it scares them that they may have to actually start putting in effort into their pokemon games and not just keep releasing halved ass slop so they want to shut this game down with lawsuits and bs "patients". I would never have thought this game would be for me, but Palworld is so much fun to play, especially with friends. It reminds me so much of when I used to play Terraria with my kids. And now they're doing a collaboration! - I can't wait.

I choose this game over whatever Nintendo decides to come out with since we all know that Nintendo cant compete anyways since they will chose suing with whatever reason their lawyers can come up with over actually making a decent game that will rival whatever the competition is. Overall it's the Pokemon game that Nintendo would never make since they are too busy trying to milk every single dollar they can from their rabid, loyal fanbase *cough cough $90*.

Also this game gave me the automation that I wanted to have in ARK but now with Pals doing most of the heavy lifting for base management then I can just simply go out, collect and breed for Pals for combat. I basically look at it as a better ARK since ARK 2 was also ruined by some other greedy company.

It is a good game, you can feel it is still in development, but the improvement is there. Unfortunatly, due to some legal stuff regarding certain company, they had to remove certain mechanic from the game. Keep in mind this is not developers fault, they are following what the legal system has dictated.

This game deserves more, I am rooting for them!

Was saving money for another game but I had to buy this to say screw Nintendo.

This is an awesome game, the most fun I have had in a survival game in a long time. Despite all the trouble nintendo has been causing, it is still a great game to explore and enjoy. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone who likes the survival/automation genre. I hope that it sticks around, because it is definitely worth playing

My family has moved on from Nintendo. My 8-year-old son enjoys playing Palworld with me, and I make it clear to him that Nintendo is trying to undermine his favorite game because they didn't have the foresight to develop it themselves. I also tell him that I will never purchase another Nintendo product and encourage him to remember this disappointment, so that when he becomes a father, he can advocate for his family by making informed choices with his spending. Palworld is an incredibly enjoyable game. This is precisely why Nintendo is targeting them. If a DLC for Palworld is released, I will definitely buy it, and I bet many fans would be equally eager to purchase a DLC for this game.

Game is freaking awesome, but Palworld please eventually reinvent the mechanics taken away by Nintendo. I know you guys are busy dealing with them right now with their bullshit patents, but hopefully you can make the game your own and give those bastards the middle finger.
Perhaps you can use an underhand lob toss the spheres to capture, maybe something completely different with the spheres, maybe even a ghost-busters capturing mechanic. Is that patented? LOL. Transform into the pals for gliding? Anything is possible, I'm sure the community would have some really good ideas. So I hope you don't give the game negative reviews for what Nintendo is forcing Pocketpair to do.

I do recommend this game however,
it seems Nintendo is going to gut it. You can no longer glide with pals and sphere's are soon to be removed. Idk what else will change or be removed, but by the end of it all if Palworld remains it's going to be nothing like how it was. I doubt I'll be playing it much at all after Nintendo ruins it with this bogus lawsuit..

I think the game is very beautiful and great. I didn’t think I would like it this much, but it’s super fun and really beautiful. I really like how much you can build and all the details in the construction as well as the furniture. However, I have one thing to comment on: I don’t like that you can’t change the chair for the desk in the antique series. One of the chairs you unlock would match so nicely with the brown-green desk, but you’re stuck with the brown one. They look like they’re meant to be a set together, but it’s not possible. Apart from that issue, the game is great!!!! Very nice views and nature, as well as cute and fun pals that you can pet and take care of. Plus, they help you with everything you do in the game. 10/10!!!!

Thanks Nintendo and Pokemon now i can't even fly with my pals but at least they boost my gliding with the spirit of their souls only being known by me they do so thus reducing the features of the game further. Ggs this round.

The title "Pokemon with Guns" does not do this game Justice, because it is so much more then that

On a base level I see why peopel would think that - its a creature tamer/collector, and the most well-know game of this genre is - after all - pokemon.
And yes, some of the Pal Designs are pretty similar. BUT

the actual gameplay is completely different.
You Catch your pals and then you use them to fight and keep your base running.
They can build, mine, collect woods from trees, plant crops and water them, breed, defend the base from attackers, can Provide you with different materials etc.
Different pals have different statt and are good at different task.

Outside of the base you can use them as mounts, to attack wild pals, or help you collect materials around the World.

Then there is also the darker side of this game, with you being able to also "catch" humane, literally butcher your pals, use/give them guns and stuff like this.

Around the World you can also find bosses (stronger pals) who you can also make part of your Team.

All in all its super fun and addicting, you want to Discover all the biomes with all the different pals, and building up a big base that is running well is pretty satisfying

Looking very foward to see where this game goes in the future!

So I've played on a dozen servers, and enjoyed the game from start til end-game 5 times since release.

Here it goes...

The gameplay is fun, the Pals are adorable, the notes for each of them are well thought and funny (And dark for some)

I like all the mechanics, except Katana and Beam Sword. I think those should be secondary optional actions with the "Draw Blade, Lunge, Strike" animation.

The community is generally fun. The pace is pretty quick once you get the swing of it and the world is so vast. There really isn't a lot to run out of to do until you reach max level.

There is no post-end-game content :(((
There is no plot unless you read the notes. They are all vague but add mystery.

TL;DR: Really awesome not finished game that still has fun new replay value everytime someone wants to start a new run or a new island/patch comes out

Also, to the Devs, Feybreak is awesome and huge. I liked Sakurajima more, because it felt more elusive and explorative. Feybreak just seems so large and daunting, it's a whole continent that dwarfs the rest! I appreciate your team always making new content and adding to the fun experience!

Expect addictive gameplay, dark humour and a bit of grind. Still in early stages but crazy promising.

was playing on a nitrado hosted server with a couple friends, when today it fully reset all progress to 2 days ago, making me lose over 6 hours of progress, backup of yesterday also didnt work,
i get ark survival having server issues because its build on an old structure, but this is a new game, yet it doesnt even have working saves and many other bugs. would not reccomend

Don't know what's going on with the game but I can't play more than a few minutes without it crashing and powering down my computer. Still trying to find a fix for this so I can play with my friends. :/

Banning and censoring players on the forums that are not being abusive isn't cool.

Uses Type A/Type B body types instead of Male and Female. Avoid until they fix it.

i love having constant 7 gigabyte updates and whenever i try to play the game it just doesn't work at all no matter what i do, so i have to get a degree in coding and somehow quantum physics

it's a good game, seriously, but these two issues is what really breaks it for me rn

It's the biggest piece of dogshit, Collisions fail on base crafting and every aspect of the terrains biome. do not purchase this game until they released the full version and fixed every collisions of the game.
exploring is not rewarding and the map is soulless.

This game is what I've wanted from Pokemon for years and years. Screw Nintendo for suing this company. They're only butthurt that someone made the Pokemon game that people have been wanting that wasn't them. They refused to allow the game to grow with the players or to make a more mature version of the game. I've made the decision to boycott Nintendo tbh. Anyway, this game is incredible. It's less like Pokemon and more like Ark with spheres that are used to catch the creatures in the game. What an incredible game. If you're on the fence about purchasing this game, you absolutely should just get it. Heck, I might gift it to you within reason. It's just that good.

The more you play, the more you feel scammed.
The map is empty, and so is the game.
There’s not much to do, and it becomes repetitive quickly.
It’s fun with friends, though — but only for short sessions.

You can capture humans in Palworld perfect game. There's counterfeit gold, Pal Slavery, I mean workers, Illegal Firearms, and Trespassing.

They teamed up with Terraria!!! and they have Pals i can train! Terraria with Pals! this is a game you can enjoy for years. i cant wait for the full release. each update proves to me that creativity creates a games longevity.

there are semi buggy and choppy moments but overall, im enjoying the experience and would love more customization on bases next. im excited to see where their creative minds take them. great game and macanics! with some visual edits we got a 11/10!

Addicting. So good. Like Pokemon but the dark side of it. Super cute and a fun game. I'm excited for what's to come. I don't fully know how the servers work and it's a bit confusing. I've done the private servers with friends and family only. The server host had to be online and provide a code every time I wanted to play. It's been a limiting factor. My bro and I joined a friends server but they stopped playing. We then started our own server but had issues with not playing at the same time. That being said, the game is super fun and I recommend it.

I hate Pokemon so kinda skeptical about this game until I saw my friends playing the game and have been addicted since. This game is too good and addictive.

Game still has really bad AI in it, and the pals just wonder around stuck most of the time while playing on servers. the recent update is making it so they can track your data, and not specifying what they are. They made crossplay sure, but they connections while playing are terrible still even after it's been out for a year.

someone decided to add a new island called Feybreak that is full of AA towers with homing rockets. good job to whoever did that. late game is a shameful garbage that cannot be done solo anymore since they added so much trash that you need to farm for hours to get (skill point manuals, legendary blueprints, pal souls, etc). you cannot play without mods anymore at this point. well done to whoever took these decisions! thanks!
