This is by far the most realistic spy game i have ever played hope you enjoy it too
good
georgia numero 0!!!!!! america numero 1!!!!
I was midway through a level, got sighted despite being fully in shadows, got shot, died, respwaned a while back, did jump where game required it, Sam didn't grab the edge despite me doing the right thing, fell onto the street, (which I wasn't supposed to do), and onto a person as well (which I wasn't supposed to do) got yelled at by my boss, had to restart again, 10/10
Seriously, good game, a little dated, very linear compared to later games, still pretty fun, 6 or 7/10
العبة حلوة بس بسبب قدمها فيها مشاكل و ما تتصلح الا ب المودات
MASTERPIECE.
Need mods to make it better, obvs. Anyway great game the OG stealth game along with the Metal Gear Franchise
I like the game but it shows it's age and also for some reason there is no controller support even tho the game was originally on controller and it took all day to setup controller support and despite that the only thing was working was movement, at least the movement was like the console version but every other button weren't even working so I had to use Steam input which was such a headache.
If you have PS3 or Xbox then play it there but the PC version is very cheap (I got it for 1.99)
Sorry for bad english
my god fisher have u gone mad
10/10
This game is a masterpiece it changed my perception of how i view the world in a political and a stealth aspect the entire game it's self is the true and eradication of how politics and civilian life clash against each other it tells a story of how bad and how damaging the human ideologies of humanity would be the down fall of society it's self this game is a true masterpiece and a great play Ubisoft you really out did yourself with this game 10/20
Its a great game
played a little bit not too fun but its okay
If I could give this a mixed review instead of Yes/No I'd preferably do that because this game has a lot of positive and negative things to be talked about. Not so long ago I played and finished Dead Rising for the first time, and funny enough a lot of my issues with that game persist right here leading me to believe Nostalgia has really played a huge role in the games we once remembered with such joy.
Pros
Gameplay: Down to the core of the game is a stealth espionage walking simulator that gets pretty repetitive after the first mission. Some missions require ONLY stealth, and others let you be a bit more trigger happy. There's an emphasis on core mechanics like shadows being incredibly useful to hide in, slow walking being better to stay undetected, tools to help look past doors, night vision goggles that will probably remain on 90% of the time, and bottles and cans that can be tossed about to distract enemies.
Mission Design: Most of these maps are designed with Problem-Solving skills as a requirement. I can't tell you how often I got stuck on a map because I was unsure of what to do next and I just had to keep trying things until something worked. Certain keypads need heat detection goggles to identify the code, other times the player is required to shimmy around windows and tight corridors to get to the next objective. Alerting guards changes the entire scenery and will usually end up with the player dying unless they can hold off.
Dated Hardware: This is something I don't normally talk about, but it's a fact the game is outdated. And yet, sometimes it feels like there's a lot of mechanics, features, and just tiny details that make this game feel more immersive and ahead of it's time than many of the stuff that's released today. I'm sure you've seen the video of the person shooting the water tank, and yes that's a cool feature. But one feature I feel doesn't get talked about enough is the lights and creation of shadows. Room too lit and you need to hide? Just shootout a lightbulb and bam we're in the shadows.
CONS
For all the positives stuff I can praise this game for, the negatives feel like someone took a whole leap back. Forget about taking two steps back, they dribbled the ball and dunked it with this one.
A.I: Enemies follow very simple, predictable patrol patterns that players can easily exploit. The enemies can be easily outwitted, and the "alert" system feels like a thin layer over repetitive behaviors. Rather than offering a truly intelligent challenge, enemies simply react to players in set ways that quickly become monotonous. If you’ve played a few levels, you’ll soon realize there are only a few ways to reliably defeat them, which leads to a lack of variety and engagement.
Unfair gameplay: I know it's a bit silly to complain that the game was hard, but some of the stuff goes beyond hard and becomes pure frustration when the reason you failed a certain mission was something that was way out of control. To give example to this, on one of the later missions you start off outside a Chinese restaurant and are required to stealth your way in and also find the secret entrance. The problem is the A.I never moves so the only way through? Kill the guards. What happens when you do exactly that? Well the entire thing goes on Alert and now you have to hold off in a corner trying to salvage the mission. And this becomes a frequent problem, the second you are spotted you have to salvage the mission or be forced to restart the entire thing.
Outdated Game: While I can praise the many things I enjoyed about the game, I also have to admit a lot of the game itself was just downright hard to enjoy. Walking for instance requires mousewheel for faster/slow and since I played this majority of the time on Steam Deck I was forced to make my own binding for the game to even get it to work properly. Added with the maze like map with zero help, punishing gameplay that will force an entire restart, and lack of player choice in the matter when to go stealth and when to go all out.. This is just a combination for the perfect endurance test more than just kicking back to play a game.
[h3]CONCLUSION[h3]
If I had to review this based on numbers I'd give it a solid Gameplay:6/10 Story:6/10 It's a great game that I'd recommend people with the patience to try. Unfortunately it's also an incredibly outdated game that becomes a struggle to play and enjoy. As I stated when I started this review, if I could give it a mixed vote I'd do that because I don't outright dislike the game, but I also found it hard to enjoy at times.
really cool stealth game
It was and it is a great old game, and a good looking one too, but this Steam version is just a bit too buggy at least in my PC, and they likely won't fix it because it's "just a old game"
I would recommend to buy it from GOG instead. Maybe that version works better, because like said It is a great game and still one of the the best stealth game in my opinion.
They don't make games like this anymore, but sadly it's thumbs down for this Steam version.
sorry i tried to enjoy this game but its too fucking clunky and the ai is too retarded
sneaky
An old but classic stealth-focused game, well-known to anybody tracking games over the last 20 years - I really like that the game forces players to patiently analyse their surroundings to figure out the best possible way to achieve their objectives. The protagonist is reasonably 'human' i.e. trying to force your way through will frequently result in deaths. AI might seem simple by current standards but the difficulty level (how sensitive enemies are, combined with the environmental design) makes for a fair challenge. The game seems to allow saves at any point so some (like me) would enjoy experimenting with the scenarios presented.
Must try for any realism+stealth enthusiasts.
I got this for a little nostalgia trip but it definitely held up even after all these years! This playthrough made me, once again, wish that Splinter Cell wasn't abandoned.
It's a good game and it was innovative and incredible for its time, but the mechanics haven't aged well.
Still worth a try if it is on sale.
Ubisoft today could never
TIght, unfrgiving stealth action game. 10/10
asdad
is good
Very good game stealthy
God dammit fisher... The mission is over....
A great stealth game that I really enjoyed. The light and shadow mechanics are super satisfying, and sneaking past enemies feels amazing. The story keeps you hooked, and figuring out each level is challenging but rewarding. It’s just a solid, fun game if you’re into stealth and strategy.
Had to pleasure to play this gem myself after 22 years of its release . It was an EPIC journey , now I totally get the fans of the series . On to the next games , highly recommend this one for all gamers.
Great game for its time. Multiple extremely frustrating parts which I assume are significantly easier with a game console controller, but the adaptation to PC has left a few parts of the game very difficult to get by because of the way the controls are mapped. IE Mouse scroll up or down to control speed vs amount of stick deflection. Some parts you need to accelerate to 100% to jump across something and it's extremely difficult to get moving that quickly by rolling the mouse wheel and moving forward to jump at the right time. I've played it on a console and it's nowhere near as difficult. It's frustrating to get stuck on one part of the game which is essentially an obstacle course for a number of attempts. This isn't why the game should be difficult.
no matter what i do it doesnt launch properly. the furthest ive gotten to is the start game inside the load option in the actual game which doesnt work. i've heard alot about this and no one else seems to have my issue. ive heard lots about how great these games are and i loved every single metal gear game so i was pretty hyped up for this. but over a month of attempting this i might have to just refund, it didnt cost me much so i might just keep trying but come on guys. off rip no modifications and the game doesnt work? bffr
install this game :P
Its a classic but in the same way the expired eggs in your fridge have been there since day 1. I'd recommend starting with Chaos Theory and play this if you are a big fan of the game. do be ware that the controls are very old
A classic stealth game that'll crush your balls for slipping up!
Very Good
It's a classic that built a legacy, and still runs well today.
A somewhat buggy port, from rough asset application with gaps to poor aim and inconsistent voicing.
dam like dam at the end i had to really get resourceful man this game is fun
hard but fun i liked it well on to the next one!!!
Excellent stealth game!
I was surprised by how well a game from 2003 nailed the lighting and atmosphere. For the stealth genre, this goes a very long way. The OST is quite good too. Sam Fisher and Lambert are compelling characters and I always look forward to their interactions.
My only criticism is that this game can still definitely show its age. It's rough around the edges and the ai can be inconsistent. Missions will have to be beaten via trial and error, and that can ruin the immersion.
Final note, if you want to play this game nowadays you will have to follow this guide first: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1692255530
Absolute classic. The godfather of old school stealth games.
Amazing game, incredible series!
Oct 29, 2024!
Splinter Cell might be the most iconic stealth game series of all time together with metal gear and theres a reason for it. Even after all these years its still a decent game. I remember playing Splinter cell games as a kid on my PS2 and the game just burned itself into my mind. The whole vibe this game has.. the atmosphere.. maybe nothing special to gamers these days but when i played it as a kid it really gripped me. There is a certain feeling this game gives you thats hard to decribe but if you manage to be the most badass ghost that is never seen and always gets the job done you feel like a goddamn legend. The game can be janky sometimes but never to the point where it ruins the game. Splinter cell is just a great piece of gaming history that (at least in my opinion) is still very enjoyable after all these years. You don't really see Ubisoft do anything meaningful anymore so its crazy to see how they used to make these very creative franchises that these days are either dead or twisted into some unholy abomiation. One more reason to go back to the good old days for a while...
Oh! What a awesome game made by Ubisoft back in 2003. Recently finished and totally enjoyed. It is a best spy game. 100% recommendation.
Wow this is awesome.
Played with widescreen patch. I will use one of the guides to play Pandora tomorrow and also give my thoughts here about that game later.
Splinter Cell 1:
Honestly its still pretty good for a 2003 game.
Its not polished really at all to be honest though unlike chaos theory and it has a lot of jank like one random area in the dark being a lot brighter for no reason or the fact your handgun does everything in its power to not shot straight no matter how still you stand sometime, its pretty much a quick-save quick-load stealth game due to it which warning you can quick save at any time so make sure to periodically though a level make a couple hard saves like 'A' 'B' 'C' ect and use these as extra quick save slots. If you dont mind doing that then it should be fun, if you do then this wont be fun at all because guards are just super finicky and it has a lot of moments that are not obvious. As an example, in one mission their is a rooftop and its apparently made of sheetmetal and I couldnt tell because this is an out of nowhere mechanic where you need to avoid the sheet by walking on the... flimsy ventilation shafts and other means to get across to turn something off all for it to trigger a scripted soft alert anyways.
That and I seriously cannot tell the difference between surfaces to walk on other than obviously water and glass being louder. while someone is moving you can move one tick faster but even on carpet if you go any faster they instantly 180 and its just a bruh moment all around.
It also has some back hitbox shenanigans sometimes if you click to melee (no need to hostage take) on their side they just 90 degree turn and blast you in the face.
But really getting sus spotted at random times almost because one shade of pitch black is a lot lighter than the other apparently is quite annoying. Ofc this works in reverse, I have been pretty much fully visible just staring crouched at people while they stare blankly back and I can only assume they are too afraid of what will happen if they notice.
Ai can break though I think this is a 60fps issue, its not really a big issue but one AI will walk into a landmine or others get stuck for a moment and can spin around in place when interacting with doors and things next to them like light switches or eye readers.
General tips.
-You can sneak up with the +1 tick move speed while someone is walking and then full speed rush them like in Bloodmoney but like all old games if you fuck it up(or the game says "no lol") the enemy spin in place far faster than you can correct to get to their back so practice it a bit with your quick loading.
-Metal generally is pretty loud and a lot of stairs are made of metal so just be careful with stairs.
-I was able to hostage grab someone from partial dark and even though it alerted other guards, they wont fire at their friend even as your fading away into the dark with them so if their is a lot of darkness you can drag them away and possibly lose aggro (its also really cool to do). Anything that requires parkour near ledges you must quick save because sometimes the game decide to launch you off it instead of letting you drop down.
-You can press your crouch button while ziplining and you have to do this for an oil rig level other wise you just fall into the ocean comedically.
-The wall jump into a leg split is the coolest ability in the game and I always thought so back when I was a kid in 2005 but its practically impossible to use because the game just doesnt let you even if it should work. The only time I was able to make it work was on the final level in the back of the kitchen (and it was probably intentional to be used there).
Dropping onto someone is an auto KO and can be very useful to skip the stalking(slow walking up to someones back, this term is also used in MGS and Hitman). So if you can get onto a box and jump on someone you can basically Mario them.
-Yes bodies must be in the dark generally otherwise it causes an alert, its possible some areas make an exception but generally I never ran into this problem other than one level where the lights swing back and fourth on load so make sure they are in the dark, which can be in nonsensical places like in the middle of a small patch of darkness in the hallway. (sometimes scripted extra guards may spawn to patrol though)
-*Some* scripted fights can be avoided, Theirs an office alert that I was able to take the KO'd dude and sit right in the corner next to a filing cabinet and after clearing the room they left so its possible.
-Smoke nades are not useful really, I have been able to Ko 3 guards back to back in the mist before but the rolling physics combined with them auto alerting when they see it just makes it hard. Instead if they are directly infront of eachother use a distraction cam and just gas them.
-I think sentries can run out of ammo so if you can get it to shoot at you and only hit cover it should theoretically run out of ammo (idk)
-Wall mines must be disarmed when they blink green, also I could never get them to detonate on enemies even in combat but maybe thats just me.
-Thermal goggles can let you see through walls and objects at times so flick them sometimes especially in combat. Infact take your noggs off sometimes to gauge how fucked you are when it comes to the inconsistent dark spots
-You can't slide behind objects while crouching in cover mode, you must stand if it wasnt obvious (or your retarded like me).
-Your rifle is actually pretty accurate so use that for important shots
Splinter Cell PT:
Using widescreen patch, PC textures and removed mouse accel.
-Looks good and the shadows actually are polished well, infact the first non-tutorial level has a beautiful office and these levels just are better.
-Enemies are a bit tougher it seems but also less janky when it comes to melee takedowns from side and front so its a bit better IMO.
-Split leg jump was improved and I can find places where it actually works now.
-Putting yourself against a wall is a lot better now and enemies seem to be able to walk right next to as they past you(they seemed to spot you at the same distance whenever or not you pressed up against a wall in the first game). You can do quick cover jumps with space bar and enemies don't seem to detect you really when doing so.
-You can now ambush people by letting them walk into you while your in the dark and punching their lights out, this makes dealing with multiple enemies a lot easier, trade off is drop attacks at least for me no longer KO.
-This game adds a lot more charm to characters and Fisher, Fisher is like he is in later games where he is a wise crack joker, not that SC1 didnt have like 2 instances of this its just now more common.
Too be continued
Its a bit dated by now and VERY linear in comparison to the goat Chaos Theory. There is clearly one path that the dev team had in mind to take. Some of the AI is not that predictable and sometimes a bit random. Very much trial and error but Quick Load/Quick Save on new machines takes less than one second so it really doesnt get in the way of this iconic stealth game.
Probably more a 7/10 by now, cause its a bit clunky compared to more modern games.
Better then Star Wars Outlaws
jankest stealth game i've ever played. all of the action-stealth game mechanics are the most primitive, antiquated versions so nothing really works as intended.
the lighting makes no sense, and not even in a "this game is old so i'll give it a pass" kind of way. you'll be in pitch darkness in areas that appear well lit and vice versa. which granted is a problem old stealth games had, sure but it makes the 'light meter' the only way of being able to tell if you can be seen or not. if that was the only problem though, it wouldn't matter to me too much. Thief 1 and I think 2 had the same issue, but this game's lighting system also just doesn't really work properly. you can literally be in complete pitch darkness and then walk two steps and be in the most possible brightness possible, causing sneaking to be a gamble on whether or not the retarded ai will actually let you get around them.
sam also is possibly the most inept """special agent""" i've ever seen in media. he can't throw a can further than 5 feet and shoots guns like he's blind in both eyes. The reticle for guns can literally be directly centered on an enemy's head while you're completely motionless and he still misses nearly every shot. theoretically you're supposed to use the scope on his F2000, but even his aim while he's scoped in wobbles around like both of his arms are broken.
the platforming also doesn't work very well, getting sam to jump onto things or up walls or pretty much anything requires a quicksave beforehand cause there's a very high chance he'll just jump into the wall and then alert every guard in a 20 mile radius with his fat ass footsteps.
idk how anyone back in the day was able to play this because every move you make is the most inconsistent thing ever. i expect to be quicksaving and quickloading a lot when i play stealth games but this one is honestly too ridiculous. any sense of realism and any desire to do missions cleanly is immediately thrown out the window when i am restarting a quicksave 20 times due to an UNMANNED spotlight noticing me cross a dark lot and spawning random joe schmoe soldiers that have better aim than your supposedly highly trained special agent. "special" is right.
this game is very good for its time and also now its has impressive lighting and shadows and very addictive game play. 8/10
Also since Pandora Tomorrow is not on steam ill rate it here its fine just more of the first 7/10
hot take splinter cell completely shits on MGS as a stealth series
Игры похожие на Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell®
