GODSWORN is a fantasy real time strategy game set during the Baltic Crusades. Take control of a divine hero, gather worshippers, rally great armies of mortals and mythical creatures, and crush your enemies to prove you are worthy to lead these lands.

Divine Heroes and Abilities - Master the various divine heroes, each with their own set of abilities. Heroes gain unique units and buildings in addition to the ones from their faction, making each of them have a unique playstyle. Protect your followers and burn your enemies with the light of the sun as the goddess Saule, or strike under the cover of darkness as the moon god Meness. Or join the order and smite the heathens as the archangel Michael.

Build and Be Worshipped - Devoted followers will flock to your shrine. Have them gather resources and build cities so you can raise great armies for battles to come. Protect them while they pray to grant you faith, a powerful resource used for mythical creatures and god powers.

Co-op Campaign - To unite the pagan tribes, take up arms on your own or with a friend in a campaign with optional co-op. The campaign follows the Baltic pagan struggle against the crusades. Can you bring unity to the feuding pagan gods before the armies of heaven arrive? Or will the land be torn asunder for your pride?

Good game. Played with a friend and we had a blast. But we struggled to figure out the controls for about half an hour.
This game is so masterfully put together - it's hard to believe that TWO people achieved this. Great work - It's like playing warcraft, dota and age of empires at the same time. Great game!
Reminds me of the good old days when I enjoyed warcraft 3
Game is pretty well done, and decently fun.
But my god playing this game with a friend is basically required; I can not stress enough how much the AI ally fucking sucks if you play the campaign solo. On mission 4 your bases are separated and only connect at the very end of the road. At one point the enemy start attacking both your bases with 2 trebuchets; the AI ally completely ignores this and does not send units to stand next to it to take control of it. The AI ally almost lost their base on normal difficulty because of this.
I understand it's a game meant to co-op with friends. But as someone who doesn't play games with other people that often, the AI ally is fucking HORRENDOUS. Until this gets fixed I will NOT being recommending this if you plan to play it solo. With only 5 missions available at the moment, it's bearable. But once they release more and more missions it will completely ruin the game for solo players. PLEASE fix the AI ally.
Delightful indie game with better regard for melee vs. ranged/magic systems/coop fun/and unit control than a lot of AAA games.
Atmospheric and beautiful in its own way, yet... nostalgic? Graphics aren't 'top of the line' but they are harmonious in their representation, giving the game a cohesive feel.
Base management is also more well thought out and easy to pick up on than a lot of other games. The fun in this game is using your hero and your more powerful unit abilities.
Definitely recommend checking this one out if you are an RTS fan.
Sick game, just waiting for the campaign to be finished :D
Old school. Reminds W3. Very big potential!
Hope they will add alot of stiff on release to make more unique units for faction.
This game is a fresh breath for old RTS Lovers :)
This is one of the best RTS in development. Fun to play, well polished for its production value and scratching some very specific niches of gameplay with a really cool historical/mythological setting often not explored. For a game made by 2 people, it puts others to shame. A lot of it is work in progress but the potential is great and its only improving.
Gimme more story. My wife and I demand this.
An early access review:
Very good.
A great showcase of the team's passion. It does the right things to inspire trust on the (two people) dev team. For every streamlined aspect of gameplay it shows willingness to trust the player to experiment with the more unique systems.
My problem with some more recent entries in the genre is their artificial nature: they feel like they were designed to mimic starcraft's multiplayer scene with no room for the actual fantasy of it even in the campaign. This is the first one ive played in a while that evoked playing warcraft 3 for the first time.
Cant wait for the full release.
For a game in its early stages its been a good bit of fun so far! Cannot wait for more missions
A fantastic RTS!
The artstyle and music are phenomenal, even if there is not too much of either. The campaign is fantastic with loads of little secrets, hidden resource pickups, sidequests with good rewards and in-map interactions. There is a solid skirmish mode with a variety of maps and challenge maps, both single-player and multiplayer.
The story is intriguing, showing the Baltic crusades but with lots of Baltic mythology, while still showing Christianity in a fairly good light as well.
You have access to heroes with a bit of a skill tree, pick between 2 different abilities per level with stronger abilities at higher tiers. You can choose to sacrifice early power and save up skillpoints to pick more of the later abilities. Macro is a bit simplified compared to older RTS titles, you can auto-send workers to collect resources or build buildings with the press of a button, but you still need many buildings to have a high population cap, speed up your army and research, as well as boost your economy.
The micro is a high point, with some very interesting units, and fairly low army damage output, giving you lots of opportunities to lead away wounded units, use some abilities or retreat and regroup with reinforcements.
The game is not yet done, there is a commander missing and there are still a few missions planned for the campaign, but what is here already is of extremely high quality, one of the best RTS campaigns I have played!
Highly recommended, 9/10, a bit short, but 100% worth the asking price.
Great game, can't wait for updates!
The game is good and it play's well i can't wait to play the rest of the game when the campaign map's come out
the positive: a very nice melt of age of mythology with warcraft, simple to get as well as simple the master. the resource system makes you wanna go and fight even if they have a resource cap, they dont have end on that. there is no micro required ll units cast their spells when required. good use for walls and towers and making units able to enter them like towers makes defense a bit better.
My critic: requires a bit more polished on the story , feals like it was cut into some parts specially from chapter 3 to 4. the relations betweens the gods are not explain in detail soo im not soo hooked to them. it feals on some of the races that required some siege units wich they dont have. some power on the gods feal either too simple or inefective (in my case the emo god doesnt feal that its sword lifesteal attack works as it use)
Final thoughts: for a small indie studio its beautifull, descently paste easy to learn and even for a rts easy to finish. but lacks a better campaign intro soo other players now how does building works or how to or why you should build certain buildings
Godsworn is an RTS game with a really good potential.
The campaign is short as the game is just in early access, but the five missions are all unique and fun to play.
IMO, the showpiece of these game are the challenge maps. All of them push the player out of the comfort zone and force her/him to design specific strategies to win.
There are several skirmishes and, as far as I have seen, developers are experimenting with different mechanics or terrain conformation to make maps different between each other.
I am really liking this game and I am looking forward to new updates.
very good game, my only gripe is that individual units do not appear to have collision and will stack on top of each other.
otherwise, the combat and the base building are fine as well as the hero leveling and abilities they can acquire
So far campaign maps are very linear and the AI is weak.
I don't see the point of playing together with AI, much less with another player.
And now my refund window is gone. Sad.
If you absolutely have to subject yourself to this - do it with a friend. AI is worthless piece of crap that attacks head-on and places buildings in your territory, blocking your expansion.
Love it! I need more of the campaign! I am playing solo but still it is a blast!
Unless you plan on playing skirmishes, there isn't a whole lot of content here just yet in terms of campaign (took me 3 hours~ to beat the available missions on normal difficulty solo, without rushing anything) so the price is a bit steep in my opinion. That being said, what is currently in the game is great! Just need more of it. I love the addition of the extra co-op maps outside of the campaign too, although I haven't had a chance to play them properly just yet. If you're on the fence about buying, I would say buy now if you wish to support the devs (who seem quite active with major updates) OR let it cook a little longer if you are more interested in the campaign side of things. Definitely recommend picking it up once it gets some more content though.
Good stuff
Love this game, it has the feel of a classic RTS that is making the most of new tech, Absolute gem in the RTS space atm
great good fun
Decent rts game for people who are sick of playing wc3 or are just looking for an alternative, instead of beating up ugly green dudes, cows on two legs, demons, undead creatures etc. you beat up brainwashed desert cultists or sun/moon worshipers.
The game is still kind of rough around the edges, sometimes my units don't attack even after issuing a move and attack order and on some occasions they stand around and do nothing while right in front of an enemy.
The biggest negative thing about the game is the lack of tall purple women with long pointy ears but that's a personal problem. :^)
zalatuje warcraftem, calkiem spoko rts, akt 1 tez fajny
This game is the tits
Amazing RTS game, for 2 people developing it the quality seems like it came out of an established company. So far there are 5 campaign missions which are all quite enjoyable and I eagerly await for more. The skirmishes and multiplayer is great as well. It is in early access but I can't wait to see more content for this game.
Its really easy to learn and get into, and very replayable.
Gorgeous art style, music, non-sexualized female gods and units (good job devs!) and classic RTS vibes. VERY promising title and despite the refund, I intend to buy this game at full price closer to release.
HOWEVER
The UI is rough .. This could of course be just me, but I had a very hard time telling what's happening with my units and base. The hero level up feels...weirdly underwhelming. I don't know why but having to open a big menu that covers up the screen, and then pick an ability from there feels like unnecessary interrupting of gameplay.
The way the UI stats are laid out also makes it so your eyes have to jump all over the screen to get a complete picture of stats, what units you have (whose icons are way too small) and what's happening back at your base.
I'm also not a huuuge fan of the build-then-allocate-worker-to-buildsite method of base building. I would prefer if there was the option to just select a peasant and have the build menu there. This COULD work later down the road when the interface is easier to parse, but I think I would still prefer the finer control of my peasant units. I sincerely hope there will be an option to just select peasants, access build menu, allocate to resource etc.
Because of these issues, I don't think I can recommend this at the moment. It might sour what will likely be a much better experience later on.
I still intend to buy this closer/at launch though. It feels like a product of love and you can tell (cheesy voice acting an all), and I want to support the developers in their pursuit. All of these 'issues' I listed can definitely be improved upon and I look forward to trying this game again closer to its release.
Nice classic Hero RTS. Looking forward to new heroes and content.
FINALLY!! A game that hits that warcraft 3 itch that I've been longing for. So much QoL changes that would irk us in warcraft games and much improvements that I couldn't even dream of being in this game. PLEASE keep up the good work and keep pumping out those updates. If you're a fan of warcraft, you'll love this game!
Just some highlights that I love:
-Staying in same party when playing with friends when matches are over
-can select map spawn location prior to game loading, great for teaming up with a friend across the river to hold the lines
-fun challenge maps which range from hero defense and base defense, fighting against waves of enemies
-5 playable factions, each unique and fun to play
-fun concept of each faction being a different religion which affects their playstyle and goals
-so much more to list but I'll stop for now
Rating, must buy if you're a warcraft fan!
Early access, some bugs... but it will be great single player/coop experience.
Premise: Warcraft 3: Baltic Boogaloo
Illidan Meness cheats on his wife Tyrande with her handmaiden Ausrine and then the undead Catholic Church invades while Witcher music plays.
I do really like that fresh mythology is used, the 90s RTS vibe with some QoL fixes in place, and the overall theme, lore, and playability of the game. The game this wants to be is there, but it just needs more work, specifically the story mode. Multiplayer is not active unfortunately, but the co-op feels nice. The AI is not really challenging and it's easy to cheese, but as stated by other reviewers, the unit variation and mechanics are there.
Unsure if it's really worth €20 for a game this unfinished - perhaps a flash sale would help raise more interest, looking at the number of reviews.
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt here, just because the Bear of Ruhnu.
Beautiful game, but seriously lacking in content and polish for its price. The campaign is obviously designed for a 2-player co-op experience, considering how underwhelming the ally AI is when playing solo. The multiplayer is also dead, but that was to be expected.
As of 23/12/24, I cannot recommend this game, but it has great potential so I will keep an eye on it.
5€ Should be the price of this game, nothing more.
Popular game engines offer RTS kits and this is literally what the game is.
The studio is taking a victim mode by emphazising that they ONLY have 2 developers but in reality the game itself, other than the art is a 1 day mock up for 1 developer.
Wow.... One of best classic RTS in years....
Nothing new and nothing interesting. Better RTS games came out 20 years ago and it feels like the devs didnt learn from the failures and successes of other RTS games when designing this game.
Unlike most new rts games, this one actually feels good to play.
It's got a co-op campaign, skirmish, survival.
It has a solid, consistent art style, good unit voices, sound and music.
There are two major factions, but many selectable heroes that will change out what units or upgrade are available. The heroes also bring themselves and a selection of powers you can pick from when you level up. The powers could be army buffs, hero cast powers / passives or global abilities.
Building your base and managing workers is streamlined. Workers are still physical units to be harassed, but you manage them via tasks. So you don't need to scroll back to your base, click the worker then click the task. You just click a button on the task / start a task and a worker will come do it.
Unassigned workers are not wasted, they generate faith, a type of resource and mana bar.
Also, workers also don't get produced by the player. Removing the need to micro manage that part of your economy. They appear on regular intervals or are rewards for clearing out creep camps.
All this streamlining of workers lets players focus more on fighting while still having base building.
This game feels a lot more like Warcraft 3 mixed wit Age of Mythology in a good way.
Zug Zug
Oops wrong game.
Vinland!
Oops wrong game.
Deus Vult
That's better.
Yeah so basically plays like a good RTS. Has a Warcraft vibe, a bit of northgard flavoring, unit rosters feel solid, gameplay pace is pretty quick, abilities are mostly interesting. Voice acting is solid, graphics are very cozy and very good without straining the system. The theme of the game is FUCKING AWESOME. Two devs made this and it's worth every single dollar I spent.
Get this game, have a swamp spirit poison some peasants, convert heathens, charge down pagans, it has it all. Solid campaign missions so far and the ai isnt brain dead like many games.
This game has a interesting setting history meets baltic myth.
This game is only becoming better with Time.
Great rts.
Finally a good RTS game after all these years.
It is a Warcraft INSPIRED Match.
Though with the Setting it makes a clear difference.
Also there are many Quality of life changes, which Stormgate and Northguard have established.
For a 2 Man Dev Team very nice.
Also each Campaign Mission (from the 5 we have currenty) felt freash and not so liniar as many Campaings have it
If you are a fan of classic RTS gameplay, combined with an excellent story and music, get this. Baltic/Northern European Mythos crossed with Warcraft.
Great setting and gameplay!
Considering this game is made by a team of just 2 developers is impressive. Love the unique Slavic folklore inspired art style, setting & amazing sound track. It's still a bit bare bones, but since it's still early access & has just 2 developers, this is understandable, but with time this game has SO much potential.
Highly recommend checking this out, if you're an RTS fan, especially if you enjoyed Age of Mythology & Warcraft 3!
Can't wait till full updated version is eventually released!
Artstyle is great
I've had good fun with this game. What we've got of the campaign so far is good fun, and the difficulty options span a good range of challenge level.
The game is extremely polished by the standards of Early Access - I've had no crashes and no significant bugs, most of the issues noticed are very minor text errors, and those that are less minor tend to be related to only the newest content and are usually fixed quickly.
I am a long time age of empires 3 and warcraft 3 player. And quite frankly, this game in my mind is what warcraft 3 reforged was supposed to be.
Let me explain,
The game has a very nice feel to the factions. Each faction feels like they do something unique, enough to alter your gameplay and your approach. I can see that in the beggining of the game they couldnt make them so much different in visual aspects, but with the addittion of of the bishop faction I can easily say that the devs are doing a great job at the visuals and again the faction creativity.
Apart from that, I think the challenges the game has ( which are maps that are made to play in a certain way, such as an invasion of a fortress or a tower defense type of wave defense map ) can be increased as the game gets more funding to improve. I really really enjoyed the invasion of Heisberg and made me feel like that 10 year old who was playing age of empires 3 custom maps or historical battles again.
I also have to add this, me mentioning age of empires series or warcraft 3 does not mean this game is just a copy of those games. I geniuenly believe especially after the w3 reforged flopped, this game just gave me enough fresh rts feeling to a point where I can see myself sink hours into one bot game. I havent interacted with the community yet but the game do have a discord where people are playing hopping into games, so there is that aspect.
Overall a solid 9/10, would love to see this game improve given the chances and the circumstances. Great job devs!
HIDDEN GEM !
this is such a good RTS
the heroes are very fun to play
hopefully it gets some momentum would be very fun multiplayer but is just fine as a single player game as well
