TOEM: A Photo Adventure

Very cute and chill game where you take pictures while completing tasks for characters. Not hard to complete and not long, but still very fun and absolutely worth the time.

Such a cozy game, sometimes the music catches me off guard and get scared. But overall a nice game to really be open and take pictures of what we see instead like when we were children.

I had so much fun snapping all the photos and figuring out the puzzles with quite a few giggles along the way.
Honestly I enjoyed it so much, I had to get all the achievements (with some difficulty...and some help :-)
But I'm so glad i did because there were a few things I would have never found that were super cute and awesome. Filling up my little album was super satisfying - like interactive wheres wally.
Inspired to dust off my own camera and go take some shots!

LOVE THIS GAME!!
Its so cute and fun, and still challenging enough for me to have to use a guide to 100%. Really thoroughly enjoyed playing, BINGED the entire game in 1 evening (from dinner to like 2am oops x3).
Honestly its definitely up there with my top indie games.

Pros:
- Cute artstyle
- Fun maps and charecters
- fun secret cubes and collectables
- Really enjoyable gameplay, movement is good, camera is as expected, promps for interaction, and all the essentials in the menus
- Just overall a fun game to play
Cons: (Nit-picky at worst and easily ignoreable)
- Some pictures of creatures look a bit blurry no matter what distance you take them. It's not super important to the game though
- Would of liked to see something akin to the LEGO games secret finder items in this, just so I could have not used a guide at all.
- Maps can get a bit confusing if you're bad with directions, but you find where you want to go eventually
- I would have liked to know I could place the stamps freely, it might of said but It took me till the 4th area to figure it out

A very cute puzzle game with a photography bent. The music is very chill, the pace is relaxed and the puzzles are challenging without being stressful. I also really like the hand-drawn art style.

The base game is quick to play through, but 100%-ing adds more playtime.

Great cozy game but needs a couple of quality of life improvements. Namely:
- I often get lost going to an NPC to claim a stamp. Maybe it's best to have some kind of navigation system to find the NPCs location easier. This may be in a form of a compass where you can pin NPCs you met or a (non interactive) map where these NPCs are marked as I meet them.
- A way to "fast travel" to another town/city without going to the bus stop; Or maybe as simple as a "fast travel" to a bus stop.

Highly recommend. I loved the pacing, the artstyle, the attention for detail. The music is just beautiful and suits the experience very well. While playing this game you can really feel that the team behind this truly cares about the players and their game. Can't wait to see what else this dev team has in store for us:)

TOEM was a heartwarming indie game that really felt like a well-executed passion project from the developers. Each character is charming, each quest is quirky, and the photography journey that TOEM takes you on is a fun one full of chill jams and beautiful hand-drawn art. Coming back to TOEM later for the DLC after experiencing the breathtaking ending was, to me, a nostalgic experience; the DLC was a large yet fantastic adventure full of characters old and new. Loved it, 100%ed it (except for all animals), one of those experience-once games you look back on fondly.

Every corner of this game was made with so much love and care for detail, it is truly a joy to play through the different regions. One of the few games that managed to make me smile. :) I would like to add that the achievements of this game might be the most fun I've ever completed. They didn't waste your time and instead made you discover little secrets in the world that you wouldn't want to miss in the first place! Even though they can be a bit tough to discover at times, checking a guide doesn't remove the fun because the payoff doesn't get spoiled.

It was...okay? I don't really have anything negative to say, but don't really have anything glowing to say, either. I guess it never really captured my imagination and made me say, "Wow, I can't wait to keep playing this game!" But it was an amusing escape for 8 hours or so, and it's really sweet that the devs added more content after the game was finished, so I'm still glad I played.

Such a cute game and fun to get to 100% by collecting all of the small critters and such. Very engaging and addicting with many questlines :)

Very cute, silly game that has a fun premise and well implemented controls. I liked the janky indie graphics and the black and white was a nice touch.

I was doubtful at first if I'd like a game like TOEM, but I'm so happy I bought it! What an addicting game where I even wanted to hunt all the achievements which is usually nothing like me. TOEM has beautiful art, lovely music, great puzzles to solve with the photographing game mechanic, characters to fall in love with, great humor and as a player you have a comfy feeling while playing. I'm looking forward to TOEM 2 with excitement!

This game was fantastic! The art is very well done, the perspective was a fun mechanic, and I fell in love with even the most minor characters. A cozy game with whimsy for all ages. It warmed my heart

I found out about this game two years ago, and since then has been my fav game. Its comfy, beautiful, and very cute.
Every year i need to play again to feel all the good feelings once again.. i cant wait to play Toem 2 either.

I played SEASON right before this so i wasn't new to the whole photography gameplay schtick. I love the overall simplicity of this one, though! Clear story and clear goals throughout. You don't really need to get *all* stamps for each place but it's satisfying if you do. Of course, it'd be better if there was an extra award for those (like me) who stayed in each place till I got all the stamps. Like an extra accessory or extra mixtape. Animation style is very cute! I hope there's an update in the future where the background music doesn't just taper off abruptly, though. And I would've definitely wanted more places to explore so maybe there'll be a DL for those in the future?

Overall, good buy and a very chill and fun game!

Cute little game, breezed through it and its little Basto content update in just under 5 hours. Very cute, love the music, refreshing little game if you need to take a break. 8.5/10 can't wait for TOEM 2

Love this game! It’s fun to do the mission and also a bit challenging! I like the squeaky voice of the shoes too! Buy it if you like simple cozy puzzle game! And somehow the scenery is very good even though its’s black and white!

I really like games like this one, it's a shame that they always seem so rare to find for me personally. The style's cute, the stories are too, and just the concept of photography being used as the main tool is always fun. Haven't completed it yet, but I'm sure i'll be done quickly :)

Not a bad game by any means, just would not recommend it to anyone because I had little fun playing it. It is very simple in game mechanics so you need to fall in love with the characters/aesthetic/sounds, which I just didn't. If you are looking for something short and cozy, and you are doubting this game, I would check out A Short Hike.

For 4,5h I forgot everything around me because I was so eager to take all the pictures :)

i'm not usually a completionist, but this game was so fun and charming that i went out of my way to complete every quest and collect every collectible. i loved playing it! highly recommend for those looking for a cute, chill puzzle adventure

A really cute game about being a good community member by mainly taking photos, while you make your journey to photograph the elusive "TOEM." I enjoy taking photos in real life and I find a lot of joy in this game, it has a lot of quirk and I like the little references sprinkled throughout the maps. It's fun trying to complete your compendium, which could be a bit bigger with more creatures to document, but it's already quite a nice size to reasonably fill it out during regular game play, and nothing that you have to go so out of your way for. I enjoy the puzzles and above all, the art style. even though this game is mostly in black and white, I register it in colour in my mind, which is so bizarre, however, I think because the environments are so well filled out with their texture and, items and even just filler, the experience is immersive enough to let you mentally fill in the blanks. I can't wait for the second game to experience more of this charm!

What a joyful pleasure this game was. I knocked it out in about 3.5 hours, which was the perfect length for this charming little indie adventure to provide a memorable one-shot experience without overstaying its welcome. You play as this little dude with a camera on a journey to capture an incredible natural phenomenon with your point-and-shoot. Along the way, you have to complete challenges and requests for quirky NPCs in each of the handful of regions you pass through on your way to the final destination. The magic of this game is that none of the puzzles or seek-and-find requests ever felt tedious, grindy, or frustrating. I found genuine pleasure in photographing small moments and pretty scenes - made all the better by the absolutely adorable art style. Despite its (mostly) black-and-white palette throughout, the game drips with character and depth and somehow feels greater than the sum of its parts. It was definitely a worthwhile investment of my time and I just can't believe I waited three years to give this one a go. When I hit the credits, all I could do was smile.

The absolute definition of wholesome!!! Very new and stylistic while also giving me some huge nostalgic vibes from playing paper mario as a tween. The soundtrack in particular is unforgettable and I listen to it all the time. Can be a bit challenging if you are trying to 100% without a guide but otherwise great for all ages!

Short, simple and clever puzzle game. Not too easy or complicated, making it suitable for all ages no matter their skills for decoding riddles or having a good eye for background details.

The puzzles are generally intuitive and encourage experimentation and an eye for observation. There's a strong emphasis on discovery and the game happily rewards such efforts with new accessories for the main character, or amusing new details about the world itself.

I was also pretty impressed with the visual style, as the developers clearly took care in designing the world to be easy to read with simple shapes and lines, as to not make the backgrounds or characters hard to read whilst taking photographs. This approach is clever but it's also undeniably charming. The black-and-white aesthetic is easy on the eyes and the humour is lighthearted without ever being overdone or hammy. All-in-all, it's a delightful little puzzle game.

TOEM is a fun, short playthrough. The puzzle/exploration aspect is mostly map memorization, pattern-matching, recognizing blind spots, and word-object association. It's not too difficult, though for 100% completion it's likely you'll want to search some things up to reduce tedious backtracking. I played this alongside a friend, which I think also kept me engaged through the slower parts of the exploration.

There are some fun surprises if you take chances with photographing random things, and the game often rewards you for being curious. The characters and writing is charming, though I occasionally find it unpleasant to mix human characters with humanoids/creatures. TOEM leans into the challenges with rendering 3D objects in the 2D viewfinder. The final effect is quirky rather than janky, which also describes a lot of the gameplay and overworld feel. The game could do more with allowing new tools to open up old obstacles, though I also respect the decision to keep the game simple.

TOEM: A Photo Adventure is a nice adventure game where you have to take some pictures of specific characters, flora, fauna, etc... to complete many quests. The black and white design is really cool with a nice ambiant. I highly recommend it!!! 🖤🩶🤍

Toem may be one of the most beautiful games i have ever played. I got this game for Free via EGS, but after one level, i knew i had to come to Steam and buy the game full price and the soundtrack to boot. this game is simple, it's funny, it's witty, and it's gorgeous.
I dare say it may be on my short list of my favorite games of all time. i have rarely ever had a game that consumes my thoughts for longer than i played the game.
Today they announced a sequel, and that motivated me to finally finish the DLC for this game. I am So happy.

Totally recommend this cute photographic adventure game! I love everything about it (wondering what it'd look like with colors though hahaa). The characters are cute and funny, and the gameplay is very chill and relaxing (just take photos and talk with people to get quests and stamps in order to proceed to next town). I sometimes just let it be just to see the cute environment. It's a very healing game and i hope there is a sequel or maybe dlc to it in future! 10/10!

TOEM is an adorable wholesome photography game where you go around the world solving puzzles with your camera. Everything about this game is cute, from the simplistic art to the cheery music. The characters are delightfully silly. The game is easy to pick up, but some puzzles had me stumped for a while as I searched the world for a solution. There's a good variety of things to do, customization options to collect, and filters to choose from. I really enjoyed this, and I'd recommend this to any age range and anyone who loves laid-back cozy gaming.

A very relaxing and cozy game. It was fun to meet all the characters and figure out how the quests were connected. The photography was fun, and all the dressing items were fun to use. The music was relaxing.

Cons of this game would be no PlayStation controller buttons (generic or X-box only, I guess) and no X-axis support for us weirdos. I still would recommend this game.
