Bear and Breakfast is a wonderfully wholesome game that's pretty straight forward. You do your quests and make your progress through every ingame-day while picking up on the story here and there. I bought the game at a huge discount during the Earth Day sale, but it's definitely worth it's full price! :) It took me approximately 47 real life hours and 111 ingame days to achieve 100% in my safe file. I encountered a few bugs, but nothing that the built-in reset function couldn't fix right away ^^ I recommend this game to all who want a slow and comfy gaming experience as our favorite business bear <3
Very cute time management game with helpful checkpoints that make it less tedious to grind to next levels and lots of entertaining quests. The rhythm of main quests vs upgrading the properties made it consistently playable. I'm not usually much for time management sims for a long period of time but I stuck with this one through the end of the main quests and post game content. Recommend!
I've had my eye on this game for a couple months now. When I finally got a PC, this was one of the first games I bought. I started playing on Friday, and played the whole weekend. This is unlike any of the other cozy games I've played before. There are such minimal roadblocks I hit, as in, its not constantly crafting or chopping trees or fishing or things like that. You can make the decorations with foraged goods, and the foraged items all regenerate within such a short period of time that it makes crafting such an ease! Later on in the game when you unlock more of the toolbar, it becomes even easier to craft cause you don't need the crafting table at all!!! Its so convenient! The missions are so straightforward, and the only time I had to look something up is when I'm trying to get farther ahead than my current missions are. The soundtrack to the game is excellent and easy going to listen to for hours on end, currently this is a 10/10 game for me, its manageable and easy to hop back into. will be updating when I'm even further in the game!
It’s super charming, with fun characters, cute art, and a cozy vibe that makes it easy to get lost in. You build and decorate guest rooms, upgrade your place, and welcome visitors. The game also has a little mystery going on, which keeps things interesting as you play. One thing I didn’t enjoy much was the inventory system. It can get cluttered quickly, and some items just can’t be recycled. The trash button is hard to notice and kind of confusing to use, which makes managing your items more frustrating than it should be.
I played this game for 67 hours and enjoyed literally every minute. It's fantastic, heartfelt and the pacing is fantastic. There is some minor grinding especially as you get to the end game, but once you figure out the level of quality each B&B needs in order to satisfy customers, completing the missions & gaining a lot of cash becomes pretty straightforward without becoming too easy.
One piece of advice is whenever you get stuck or feel like there's nothing to do (especially if you hem hem need a lot of money for a quest), go talk to someone you haven't talked to in awhile. Chances are they'll have something for you to do.
I really enjoyed doing a completionist run of this game, which is something I rarely do and speaks to how much this game did not overstay its welcome.
On a more personal note, Bear & Breakfast was often a game I went to when I needed to relax after a long day, or if I'd been having an especially hard time. Hank & his friends were a nice reprieve from everything. The games overall story was intriguing and reminded me a bit of Stardew Valley in it's light touch but strong messaging. Bear & Breakfast reminds us all of the three tenets of life: be kind, do your best and make a lot of puns.
I just 100%'d this game and I absolutely adore it! When I first picked it up at launch, I played it on the Switch and the console port & controls turned me off a bit. But I decided to start a new game on PC recently and something just clicked for me this time. Juggling resources/storage can be a bit annoying and traversing the map can be a slog until you unlock all of the fast travel points, but otherwise it's super satisfying and ticks all of the management sim boxes for me. Also, the writing is incredible -- genuinely hilarious at times and I love all of the weird, poignant little story lines. The art style is both adorable and gorgeous to behold. Overall, I just think it's an incredible little game for anyone who wants a cozy, slow-paced, truly funny management sim.
Having an absolute blast playing this game. It's been on my wish list for sooooo long. The humour is great, progression is good and game play not too grindy. Still have some ways to go before completing the game, but really enjoying the journey.
Thanks for creating this gem > . <
I love it. It's cozy, it's beautiful. Everything I've ever wanted from a game like this. Delightful dialogue and easy to manage so as to not get my weepy brain working at all. Completely reccomend if this is your cuppa.
This game is so much fun! no rushing around to complete tasks, just relax and play
4/5 game due to mechanics
i love this game. playing as hank and running around making cozy spaces is so fun, and the shape of some of the buildings offers a nice challenge in some cases. i really feel a sense of pride when the humans give positive reviews and seem happy! it's such a cute concept, and i can honestly see myself spending countless hours in this game, i really do love it. i've not yet unlocked everything, instead focusing on upgrading my rooms and making people as happy as possible in the areas i've unlocked. the art style is also adorable.
my only issue is the ui. the ability to zoom in and out of hank's location in game is useful. however, the minimap in the corner does really emphasise /mini/, which is a little frustrating because it shows you where the scrap is in any given area, so i rely on it to pick up materials because some of the materials blend so naturally into the environment that i often miss them otherwise (a positive - it irks me when a collectable doesn't look like it belongs in the slightest). you can zoom in on the minimap, itself, but if you zoom in too much you can't see the collectables, which defeats the purpose for me. i so wish you could up the ui scale, and that the zoom level of your minimap stayed consistent between areas. it's a little frustrating.
other than that, i have zero issues with this game. i haven't gotten stuck, haven't felt like i couldn't progress or had nothing to do, and haven't felt like you have to go back and fourth unnecessarily. i'm moving constantly, always improving, and having a lot of fun! i really recommend it, i just hope the next update has a ui scaler included.
Really good cozy gameplay with no combat. Building + upgrading + management + exploration + collection, all set up in a way that keeps you hopping to new game elements often enough to keep things decently fresh, but doesn't rush you. Went in with no preconceptions and was not expecting to be that charmed by the protagonist and his interactions with humans.
If I had a complaint it might be the ending of the "main" plot seemed pretty abrupt and ambiguous (assuming I really got there?) but tbh that's not why I came here, and I still feel like it's a great game.
There are so many fantastic things about this game. It's adorable, has sweet characters, a little character development, somewhat of a story, pretty okay kitchen mechanics, and a wide variety of decorations for cabins.
It was an incredibly addicting game while it lasted! The end game gets difficult keeping up with filling up the food for each cabin, but it is so fun finishing off all the quests and 100%-ing.
I would love an extension to the game! Whether its building cabins from scratch, adding new unlockable areas, or more foods/recipes and characters, I could spend 200 more hours easily with a whole bunch of these updates to the game.
Overall, I'm so glad I found this game!!
Adorable game!! Decently easy to understand controls- wish you could skip through the day though...
What a great game, cute graphics, cute characters and getting materials for crafting isn't a grind.
i absolutely love this game 💗 the art style and the story line are amazing and i would do anything to experience playing this for the first time again
such a fun and relaxing game...go back to it when im looking to chill and play games at the same time
There were definitely points of the game that made me feel frustrated, but ultimately I would recommend it. I found the story that unfolded towards the end very worth the idle periods. Just keep in mind the resource management tag when you start (I did not).
Positives:
- The art style is very cute and consistent throughout the game.
- You can go back home to get some pocket change if you're struggling to have enough coins.
- There are no achievements you need to grind for.
- You can change the layout and number of rooms of the B&B's at any point.
- The overarching story was surprisingly heartfelt (I hadn't realised there was much outside of the building quests).
Negatives:
- The resources need balancing. On my hands and knees begging for an option to sell back items or at the very least 'bin' them to free up space.
- It needs items with much higher decor scores that take up little space (eg. paintings with 8+ decor). To get maximum decor requirements at two of the B&B's the furnishing situation is rough.
[*]The game feels unfinished, with greyed-out areas remaining on the map and a final quest that left no indication it was the final quest, and didn't feel like a conclusion. If not an epilogue, at the least a credit rolling screen to indicate that was the last main quest would be appreciated.
You are a bear who wears a little hat that runs a series of rental properties because you want to eat human garbage. 10/10
Bear and Breakfast is a perfect game to play either with nice music in the background or a video essay. Its a perfect game to play while winding down after work or school. I especially enjoy it as someone who likes some routine and enjoys little side quests. You can play the game at your own pace, focus on one resort at a time or try and tackle all five at once. The art style is charming and reminds me of picture books read to me when i was younger, and the character models are expressive and diverse.
I recommend this game to people who are looking for a game similar to Stardew Valley or are big fans of woodland creatures.
4.5/5
This game is very enjoyable, the colours are wonderful, the story is great and the game is very custom to how you like to play. I am a grindy player, I go to every corner of each map point, gather everything and maximise profits in each hotel area. I will actively start to MONEY MAX as much as I can buy just doing countless days of profit and profit. The story as well is fun, doing the challenges by our "shark-trador" is always giving you something to do. Would suggest this for anyone who likes to try get as much money, maximise and decorate!
Bear & Breakfast has lived in my head rent-free since I finished it. Charming artstyle, compelling game progression, never boring. I adore it and you should absolutely play it.
Bear and Breakfast definitely has its charm. Playing as a big, soft bear running woodland inns? Adorable. The cozy art style, quirky writing, and relaxing vibe pulled me in at first. Decorating the hotels was honestly the part I enjoyed the most—it scratched that design itch in a really satisfying way.
But despite how charming it is, the game lost its momentum for me pretty fast. The core gameplay felt a bit shallow, and I found myself running out of things to do. There just wasn’t enough depth or variety to keep me fully engaged, especially compared to other cozy management sims I’ve played.
That said, if you can grab it on sale—especially 50% off or more—it’s worth a try. It’s not a bad game by any means, just one that didn’t quite hit all the right notes for me. Still, playing as a bear was a delight, and it might be just the thing if you’re in the mood for something super chill and low-key.
Incredibly fun and silly (though stressful in a good way) game. Dialogue is funny, and I love the quests, though sometimes it can be a bit tedious. The art and music are absolutely gorgeous, and I cannot believe that this is the first game from this game studio. They are planning on updating further, and I can't wait when they do! This game has so much potential. Much love to the Gummycat team, they have gotten me hooked on this game.
I love this game, I can relax and enjoy it on my laptop whenever I want to wine down!! Its so cute and I love the story line
Super cute! Love the task management and the side quests. Loads of creative choice and freedom too.
I eyed this game for months before I bought it. I have now been playing this game every moment that I get free time. It is fantastic. I love Hank the Bear and the side characters. The quests are not overwhelming and are fun. Sometimes I have to look stuff up or wait a day or two in game to figure something out but it's okay. The graphics are adorable. I recommend this to everyone who loves Stardew Valley, especially those who have trouble keeping track of quests and goals. It is beautiful, whimsical, adorable, and well done.
The game isn’t very open. You “manage” 5-6 hotels that serve more as independent levels than anything else. As you unlock features as you progress (like new room types), most of them can’t be implemented in your previous hotels.
The inventory management system also isn’t very good as you are constantly juggling items you need for crafting / cooking / decorating, without a straightforward way to sell off all of your older items en masse. It’s not a big deal during the early parts of the game, but it becomes a big issue later on.
Core functionality / quality of life improvements also serve as unlockables, which isn’t ideal. For example, towards the end of the game you get a tool that lets you manage all of your hotels remotely. So, you can book guests, manage staff, etc. from anywhere on the map instead of having to drudge to each location every morning. It feels like a way for them to pad out the game by making you travel back and forth so often, only to finally unlock these types of conveniences towards the end.
Lastly, while the characters are well designed - the writing is dull and uninspired. Characters you meet early in the game drop off very quickly once core gameplay mechanics open up. Side missions are also just busy work - typically comprising of finding a desired item and bringing it back to the character who asked for it.
The game is inoffensive, but I wouldn’t say it’s all that good. There’s potential for the gameplay loop, but with the unlockables being quality of life improvements, uninspired writing, and the poor inventory management system, it’s hard to stay invested in this game after the first half. It all becomes so repetitive and continuously frustrating that it’s visually appealing world can’t make up for its shortcomings
Really cute game with some design and simulation aspects. It's a little slow to start but continue playing because it gets fun hopping between cities to manage your other bed and breakfast. The dialog is a little cheesy but it doesn't matter. It's a good game.
The moment I saw that little bear I knew I was going to love this game. Instant classic!
Quite relaxed game for the most part.
And it has a nice mood, easy to see why most like it.
But it has pretty large pacing issues where you wait around (while the hotels grind money).
These become quite severe towards the end where hours pass on said grind.
So while it's nice enough I am not really sure I can recommend it, in general, it just has really weird pacing and comes across as unbalanced the further you go.
This lack of balance to some degree includes the main story, which is only in the very start and then again in the very end, the other 95% of the game it is quite simply missing.
I just finished my second play through of this, though I didn't 100% my first one but got pretty close. It took me about 26 hours to 100% it. The story of this game is so much deeper than I first thought and is very emotional. There's a late game feature (no spoilers) that makes management a lot easier too, and I wasn't even aware of it in my first play through. Incredible game 10/10!! only note is that waiting for quests to complete (like getting x amount of perfect reviews) is kinda annoying since I haven't found a way to skip days and I just had to sit there until night but that's my only gripe.
Great Gameplay, with cozyvibes and lovable charecters!
I love the animation style. The characters are super fun and very memorable. Super cozy, hits all the marks for a good management sim without being overbearing, and plays very intuitively.
I love the room design aspect, the controls are very easy to pick up, and I love the different views you can have while decorating and exploring. It's nice to have all the walls down while exploring and cleaning, but when it's needed you can change the view to hang decorations and shelving.
If you like Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, or Sun Haven, I believe you'll very much enjoy this one.
I love this game!!! 10/10 , I also love the relaxing music.
Hank is one of my favorite characters! This game got me though a really hard time in my life when I had postpartum. The game gave me something to look forward to in my down times. It let my mind focus on something when i felt despair in the rest of my life aspects. I missed the opportunities to buy the plushies or the hoodie :((. I did buy the game for switch as well! The switch controls are little different to get use to but I still love this game and will always cherish it! 10/10 I love building out rooms for people to stay in and complain its cold or my rooms are ugly! lol
i like this game but the dog character looks too much like a furry and i don't like it
this game had me within the first few minutes. i immediately had to know where this silly bear was going. the characters and art are very pleasing! the actual crafting and gathering and decorating? it's fun, it's easy, it's hard to put down. i kept waiting for the game to go on sale bc a lot of people said it was fun. if you are reading this, don't wait! do it for hank!
An absolute treasure. This game has one of the most charming and beautiful art styles, incredible audio, witty and clever dialog, a unique and interesting story line, and a special place in my heart. It is a light grinding game but mixed in with so much to do and lots of exploration. Simple to pick up, hard to put down. It has been an absolute delight playing through this game, and it brings me so much joy to be craving more. Best wishes to the team behind this game, and I hope all the best for them in the future.
Good game with minimal bugs / slow late game progress. Overall enjoyable with their customizable selection of how you want to run your hotels. 7.8/10 indie game :)
very frustrating bugs with doors not working for npcs, or not being able to use bathrooms even though all the building and space requirements are met. the most infuriating bug of all is that none of my achievements were logged. was told to start a new save and all my achievements would be loaded but only one ended up getting registered. none of the frustration and time wasted is worth figuring it out because the story is weak, the punchlines aren't funny, and the gameplay isn't rewarding or satisfying enough for someone who has a lot of love usually for this kind of game. the art was very charming though and its a fun concept, just not executed very well. and with how many studios/devs that are credited on working on this, there really isn't an excuse
This game is so much fun!!!! Hank is such a loveable character that makes me giggle every single time he unlocks a new piece of clothing to wear. What a good guy. The story is so cute and the progression is great - I love how you can manage multiple inn's at once!!! This is my cozy game of the year.
fun to complete tasks, relaxing to play, would definitely recommend. i had stopped playing for a while for some reason and just picked it back up - can't imagine why I stopped at all. it's been a joy to play. i think i just forgot about it lol
A nice, cute and cozy game. I enjoy the way you can rearrange the furniture however you want in each lodge and the story has just the right mix of comedy, cuteness, and emotional trauma that I love. The art style is also super adorable and I quite enjoyed the management side of things. Overall, a good experience and a fun game :)
Bear, running a B&B, while wearing cutie lil hats
Very inspiring, now i want to be a bear and run my own hotel resort )))
Play time: 63.7 hrs
Not as fun as I expected but still a nice game. The first 3 hotels were quite interesting but the last 2 were a bit repetitive in my opinion. Also a lot of walking around even with the bus system and the little decorative objects on the ground tend to block you a lot which were quite annoying. Took a bit of time at the end to finish all the achievements. Overall a good game but I wish it was better.
This game was not quite the build a resort type game I was expecting. It's has a linear story you are supposed to follow with set goals that keep you moving. I liked the story but the resort building feels pretty one and done, once you get your resorts set up nicely with help there's no point going back to them unless you want to check for more quests to 100% achievements. I liked the writing of the characters and their interactions and the designs of the furniture.
Super Cosy, and very addictive.
Really enjoyable if you like collecting items and decorating places for people to stay at - and you're a bear who's lovable.
only fault is I don't think achievements link up to steam properly... hopefully it fixes soon as I am quite an achievement hunter haha.
cute and delightful, no stress
pretty chill game. i liked that the it actually had a storyline and lots of quests to further the plot. i was very pleasantly surprised with just how much lore there was to uncover. it did get a little tedious at times when i had nothing to do except mindlessly forage, but overall quite enjoyable.
one note is that my controller would not work at all maybe it's because i use a third-party (8bitdo) but yeah, looked up tutorials and everything but i ended up having to use kbm
The Coziest and Cutest Game Ever!
Bear and Breakfast is an absolute masterpiece in its genre! From the moment I started playing, I was completely enchanted.
First of all – the art. The hand-drawn style, the adorable characters, and the warm color palette make every second in this game feel like a hug. But what truly blew me away was the mind-blowing storyline – unexpectedly deep, engaging, and full of charm.
On top of that, the gameplay is just perfect. You restore and build cozy little hotels, decorate rooms, add furniture, design bathrooms – every detail makes the experience more immersive. The quests are fun, the pacing is great, and the whole world feels alive.
If you're looking for a relaxing, heartwarming, and incredibly well-crafted game, Bear and Breakfast is a must-play. I can’t recommend it enough!
