Can it be considered time wasted if you had fun? The game is what it appears to be, and it's fun. Nice weapon variety. I also like the idea of zones that spawn helpful items.
What I have to do to get my "native controller" to work every time I play is completely unacceptable. A simple patch would fix this laborious annoyance, among others. Thumbs down until I can play without menu diving steam configs ontill one works - BECAUSE it is up to debate when, how, and what will work, while docked on tv or on deck, xbox, pad, or , wasd.... SURE DID select, deselect, dashboard, reapply till it works... fix this mess.
Some poor weapons and weak meta progression. Cool concept, could be better executed.
i, ruler of earth approve this game for the masses
fast, steamline, beautiful space survivor game
cool
AI generated content
Although I may not have much playtime in yet. I can see myself sinking a ton of hours into the game. It takes a little bit of a different approach to traditional survivor games. And that's definitely not a bad thing when done right, like this game is.
It's the known loop of upgrading abilities to find the most OP stuff. As a change, there are places where periodically boosts spawn (XP boost, global meta resource spawn, round specific meta resource) or a weapons platform that supports you. So you loop around the battlefield.
It's a fun little time waster indedd.
A nice little Shoot em Up.
What you get apart from the typical formula:
- You can aim manually
- Theres Outposts you can buff too, which provides some more depth and fun. Theres one that gives you upgrades, one that gives you a Magnet (Cooldown), one that increases EXP Orbs and one that has turrets shooting enemies.
- A "hostile" vessel that collects your EXP Orbs so you dont get them, but if you kill it it drops them bundled and with a multiplier, adding a fun strategy to give up on early buffs but get more the longer you wait.
Other than that, you get typical but really good and fun Shoot Em Up Space Gameplay.
Weapons range from projectiles and rockets, to swarm Ships or Acid Goo.
You can also ram enemies to death, theres shield and life, which allows for some tank gameplay too.
I say, for the price offered, its an easy recommendation, even if you are already a bit exhaused by the "Survivors-likes" (Shoot em Ups) that are around.
This is one of the better ones with enough fresh ideas to keep it interesting while also being "conservative" enough to not be too different from similar games.
What i wished this had, was coop.
If the dev reads this and has any plans, dude make a sequel with some more captains and Outposts plus Coop and its an instant classic.
Negatives:
- i really really hate the Japano style for the characters. Looks generic and also a bit dumb. But thats taste.
This game's name is very missleading. The time I spend playing it doesn't feel wasted at all !
Does this game use AI art? As much as AI art is often misdiagnosed, that's definitely the case here. Some of the character portraits and some other assets too suffer from notorious (nowadays/2024) low to mid-tier AI diffusion issues. Like what are Ram's face/gloves even?
Am I mad about this? Honestly, not at all. Sure, the game could use the tender touch of any kind of proper artist, be it a "real" artist doing manual touchups on the assets provided, or just some better prompt/model/img2img work. But the portraits are good enough for their functional associations to upgrade paths.
At the end of the day it's a good game with very solid mechanics, no real bugs in my playtime (you should not be able to accidentally banish the last upgrade, but I hardly have a single other actual qualm that comes to mind) and that is all around optimized and polished decently.
Many of the additional character challenges are properly tailored to the character in question, such as the AoE field guy being unable to move or Luna (which is the only one that actually has a very mild venture into some story and dialogue) making use of mission special assets and a location change for basically a different type of final boss.
There's quite a bit of meat on the bone for the modest asking price too. It's not game of the year, but it definitely succeeds at what it tries to succeed at. Being a fun survivors type game (which you can play while listening to something else for instance)and being a good amount of challenging without any undue frustration baked into the cake.
fast, steamline, beautiful space survivor game
This game is actually alot of fun and quite the challenge. Worth picking up. I find myself coming back to this title all of the time.
AI Generated "Art" is used for the characters.
Meta progression doesn't feel very impactful, in part due to the meta progression currency being RNG. You get stuck on certain waves where difficulty spikes due to the introduction of new types of stronger enemies. Some weapons are not well balanced and are effectively useless, such as Fireball. Many conditions for unlocking new weapons and characters are tied to RNG, as you may not get the specific upgrades that you need during a run to complete the condition.
Planets and stations that give boosts if you get into their orbit are a cool idea.
The loot bug ship that steals dropped gold that you need to hunt down to get the gold back is also neat.
Time Wasters lets you waste your time on it.
You have buttons for Quick upgrade but none for Reroll. If you want to reroll you have to waste a few more seconds.
good for Time Wasting.

Yes.
like if you think I'm gay
it honestly, simple and enjoyable.
Just like the game says. 'Time Wasters"
You want to simple game to waste your time to speed up time in life by a bit. Here it is.
It so enjoyable, that it worth achievement grind.
Time well wasted.
This is a good game. Pretty colors and such make the clock go away...maybe even the calendar. Good movement through the void.
Is okay.
Can't wait to waste more time
I'd give it an 80% to 85%. It doesn't have the replay-ability of Vampire Survivors. The enemies are repetitive. The weapons are interesting. Graphics are good but cartoony and colourful. you have one map for a while. There are not many levels like in the other games.
I'd say it's worth 5 bucks though.
Bye gimme an award.
This is by far one of, if not the best Survivor like games. The progression is great, the upgrades feel good, and being able to quick upgrade without getting the popup menu is something every survivors like should implement.
The only downside is that most of, if not all, of the art in the game is AI generated. and once you realize it, you can't unsee it.
But the game is also so fun.
The name is accurate, I would play for what feels like hours and I've only played one round, great game to play during breaks throughout the day, some of the characters are annoying to use but still a great game.
This is a great twin-stick shooter action roguelite. It has a strong, and fun, meta-progression. The characters play very differently. The moment-to-moment gameplay is action-filled and gives you a sense of a fair challenge. The challenge mode switches up the base gameplay with each one having a unique objective.
The only negative thing I have to say about it, is that the devs consider it complete and won't add more content. It is, however, a well-made game that is well worth the price tag.
This game is a waste of time. 10/10.
5 dollars is a very fair price. This game, while having some balance issues, has a solid gameplay loop with the time and space cubes, and does a good job of creating niches and uses for each character. Not all characters are created equal, but all manage to make different metas that are interesting 11 times out of 12.
This is a great casual experience that you should not put too much thought into, and anyone who's a fan of Survivors-likes will have a good time.
Very Fun and Easy To Learn
The game is so hard you can't make any meta progress before you die.
So, I fired up Time Wasters thinking, "Ah, I'll waste a little time, pew-pew some space rocks, maybe meet a friendly alien or two." What I didn’t expect was to spiral down a cosmic black hole of “just one more upgrade” madness until 3 AM. This game doesn’t just waste time—it captures it, drains it of all meaning, and leaves you questioning how you’re still awake while your starship is still somehow firing lasers at asteroids like it's a sleep-deprived toddler on a sugar high.
Picture this: it's 2024 Asteroids, but instead of your typical rock-blasting action, you’ve got wave after wave of angry space nonsense—comets, aliens, giant existential questions, who knows? Meanwhile, you’re somehow channeling your inner Vampire Survivors with an arsenal of random upgrades that make no sense but work for some reason. Space banana shield? Sure, why not. Laser eyes? Heck yes. Ability to turn into a sentient disco ball of doom? I may have imagined that one... or did I?
And yeah, I’ll admit it—this game is like slogging through cosmic space goo for the first 20 minutes. The pace? Slower than a snail in a spacesuit. I felt like I was steering a shopping cart through molasses, blasting a handful of asteroids that looked like they were genuinely apologizing for getting in my way. But once you push past that initial “Oh god, am I stuck in space purgatory?” feeling, something magical happens: the game becomes an absolute dopamine injection. Like, I went from yawning to "I AM THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS!" real fast.
The upgrades are bizarrely addicting. At some point, I was dual-wielding space lasers and nuking planets with my sheer willpower (or was that the coffee kicking in?). I lost track of time, of course—ironic, since it's called Time Wasters—but somehow, that’s part of the charm. It's like the game knows it's a slow drudge, but you keep playing anyway because it’s sneakily whispering, “Hey, buddy... you could have a flamethrower next time if you stick around...”
And you do. You always do. Time? Wasted. Life? Questionable. Fun? Oh, absolutely.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to feel like you're playing Asteroids while trapped in a fever dream designed by the mad geniuses behind Vampire Survivors, this is your game. 4/5 stars—minus one star for making me question my life choices and lose track of basic hygiene, but I’ll be back tomorrow for more space carnage.
Easily worth the $5.00 asking price!
Wasting your time never felt better!
One of the best Survivor Games in Space!
Love the Artstyle and the Music!
Wonderful bullet hell/rogue like game. Well worth the price (discounted or not).
So this game is promoted to being closer to Vampire Survivors. It fails to implement a decent progression mechanic. You can run a dozen times without ANY currency to progress your characters. The only way to progress involves acquiring very specific items which don't always show up and a standard run, you may get one or two. After my fifth run without one of these cubes, I realised I was wasting my time.
If you are seeking your next experience with Vampire Survivor, this may help. The incorporation of a sci-fi theme, moving around to parts of the map, gathering resources and coming back to base are what makes it stand out.
Disappointment.
-Extremely confusing experience
