Played this on the PS Vita, even for a PS Vita / mobile game, it is pretty bad, too generic and unpleasant.
In less than a hour you'll have seen pretty much everything the game has to offer.
Play Rogue Legacy or its sequel.
Fury Unleashed is also a good game, different but actually good.
key bind is too overwhelming. hard to play , no fun.
Great nostalgia, but shooting upwards is missing.
I used to play this along with devious dungeon on my iPod touch many years ago it’s good to see them avail again (not sure why they aren’t on the Apple Store anymore ). It’s nice to fire these and dd up on the steam deck.
Very simple but addicting game play for the price. If you want a cheap fun time waster this is a good choice. Still as it was originally a mobile game I still think it’s best suited for mobile devices like iPhone but it adapts well to the steam deck for portable play.
Played this when I was younger on my iPad. Recently picked it back up and have really enjoyed it, also had plenty instances where I almost smashed my keyboard. However, a very enjoyable 2D shooter/platformer, highly recommend trying it out.
-[EDIT: One very important question, why did the developers remove the forest level? It was my favorite. At least add it as a DLC.]- This game is AMAZING! I was like 4 years old when I first got this game, I first played it on my Iphone, but then I deleted the game because I didn't play it, so after about 2 years, I went back to the app store to try and find it only to not find it. After doing some research, I found out that the company left IOS. I was devastated, but after a while, I found out it was on steam, so I went to steam and got the game for $4.99 and now I play it all the time! After playing for a while I can say that This Game Is One Of The Best! (Plus the game is pretty cheap)
This is a basic but fun and rewarding little platforming shooter that you can perfect in 3 to 4 hours. But mind the fact that it will not add to the profile perfected game count. Still, it is very much worth the time investment. It's a decent experience overall that made me want to keep playing until I unlocked more of the stars, heroes and weapons you can find in-game.
why is this called the gold edition its objectively not as good as the mobile games wtf. you can't aim upward, characters don't have perks anymore, there are less weapons then between the first 2 games, you have to unlock weapons that you have enough money to buy, there are weapons that were in random heroes ONE that are missing, wtf is this bullshit.
Super fun action platformer. Great for those that want a more casual experience or those new to the genre. Very fun and simple in a good way.
Pros
+ Fun Platform game
+ Level Star Challenges keeps gameplay interesting
+ Good Guns & Characters to unlock
+ Good Achievements (worked perfect for me)
Cons
- No Story
- Not Enough Music Tracks
I played this game for the first time many years ago. Now I'm older, wiser, and I had a great time playing my favorite pixel side-scroller again for the first time in forever. I've completed it entirely, and made little me proud. 10/10 for a flash game
First impressions so far..
Do you remember the old DOS based platformers. This game will remind you of those. But this is a level based game, not a story based game that you play through.
That being said, this game is an enjoyable time. It's not super hardcore (bullet hell, precision platformer, souls-like) but some of the enemies move quite fast, so it is difficult to complete levels without taking damage.
Pros:
1. Character control is good, some other games fail at this.
2. Hidden secret areas to find.
3. You can access a shop at anytime to spend the coins you collect.
4. Weapons are usually locked behind a world/stage requirement, but a good thing is that you don't have to purchase weapons in a particular order. For example, you can jump from starting pistol to plasma pistol if you have the coins and are on world number 2.
Cons:
1. You can't move your view up or down, so sometimes you will jump, fall, land on out of view spikes below.
2. There is a non-compulsory 'three star system' for the levels. One of the stars is completely the level without taking damage. Unfortunately, there will be times where you can receive cheap damage, so you may feel cheated.
3. Starting pistol is weak making enemies feel like health sponges. Best to upgrade that as soon as possible.
If you want to feel some old DOS based platformer nostalgia, this might help. The starting pistol sucks, but once you upgrade that you should have a good time.
The game is basic and has some problems, but it's charming and fun at the same time. It has the option to disable screen shake. Overall, i recommend it for a casual 2D shooter session.
It's a pixel graphic shooter platformer with subtle RPG elements. It's very engaging and can be difficult, which makes it super addictive. The price is spot-on, $4.99 retail and just $1.24 to $2.49 when on sale. Which is pretty regularly. I was lucky enough to snag it at just $0.49 and I easily recommend to snag it at the $1.24 to $2.49 price because that's what it's worth IMO, if not retail price.
What makes it so engaging is the enemies, the guns, the heroes you earn and use and how each of these vary. I HIGHLY recommend this game to fans of the genres I mentioned above.
EDIT: After getting further into the game, it's getting BETTER as you progress. The enemies and obstacles start to be placed more precise so in order to get the 3rd star, it becomes more difficult, which is something I was hoping this game did! I also noticed that the better guns unlock in the later levels.
Not sure this deserves to be called Gold Edition.
The game is a lazily done port form either mobile or console.
The buttons for firing and jumping are mislabelled and there is no way to change them in-game.
You cant use a mouse to navigate the menu which makes navigating it take more effort than it should.
The game felt bit boring due to most levels feeling similar and there not being much of a challenge.
The gun/money mechanic felt overly grindy and led to just replaying a boss battle over and over to get money faster.
The heroes didn't have any unique abilities, instead they just had varying levels of health, damage and speed.
Overall i would say that the game is just kind of meh, nothing special.
Random Heroes is a great platformer game. You start the game with only one hero and a pistol. As you progress you unlock new heroes and new guns. After unlocking some stuff game becomes really enjoyable. Experimenting with different heroes and guns is fun. There are some cool boss battles too. Controls and gunplay is good. Soundtrack is fine.
This game definitely still holds up. I remember playing the flash version years and years ago, and this is just like I remember. There's an amazing soundtrack, fun looking characters, weapon variety, and fun levels and bosses. There's also not a lot of achievements for the later part of the game, which is a bit disappointing. I wish there were options to turn down the volume of sounds and music, instead of just on and off. Overall, the game itself seems like it'll be quick, fun, and nostalgic. I'm looking forward to beating the game!
Pros:
+ Neat graphics
+ Controls/gunplay is fine
Cons:
- Very tedious and frankly just boring
- Involves grinding for cash to get better guns
- Basic and uninspiring enemies and bosses
- New enemies are often reskins with more HP
- Every single level feels the same
- All heroes are the same except little variance in health/damage/speed
- Starts too easy and doesn't really get challenging
- Half the achievements are missing?
It's difficult to recommend Random Heroes given the genre's abundance of games. It starts fine but slowly falls flat due to primitive enemies, too expensive weapons, inconsequential hero selection, and mostly just boring level design.
The game also has achievements for unlocking some heroes/weapons and killing some enemies/bosses etc but for some reason that's only for the first several of each. Basically you'll complete all achievements by the time you're maybe 1/4 done with the game, as if someone forgot to add the rest of them. Why so? No idea. But hey, maybe that's a good thing since I had even less reason to grind through the remaining part of the game. I was bored out of my mind already by that point.
Random Heroes: Gold Edition
A fun lil flash game that's quickly finished.
Multiple hero skins that are unlockable when you've finished a level/stars, and a nice weapon arsenal when you're able to buy them.
Enjoyable games like this are always welcome in my list.
I wish this game had cheats once you finish the game to unlock all guns. The guns are just there to be there. If that was there I would probably give it thumbs up. Because it’s so fun see these new guns. And also the game is kinda boring beside bosses.
I played all 3 Random Heroes games on mobile. This one is basically just a longer version of the first one. No aiming up, no moonwalk while firing, very few and very overpriced weapons, plus I had to figure out how to play on keyboard by myself, since explaining keyboard controls for a PC game was apparently too hard for the developers. "Gold Edition" my ass, I'm requesting my first ever refund.
Random Heroes is a shooter/platformer. This game is a lot of fun and the designs of everything from the enemies to the levels, to the guns and heroes are all really good. The game itself is pretty simple. Complete worlds each with 11 levels and then fight a boss at the end of each world. You collect coins by walking around and killing enemies to buy guns to make yourself more powerful. You unlock other heroes by getting stars, three of which are in each level that you get by killing enemies, not taking damage, and finding secret coin spots. All heroes have three stats: Health, speed, and damage, and they get increasingly better in stats. Some change how you play, like having 1 HP but giving you higher damage and speed, but most of them are just straight upgrades. The guns do the same thing. The guns have two stats, Damage, and Speed. They unlock with progression and money to purchase. Overall, this game is pretty balanced. The enemies and bosses have a fair amount of health. Nothing feels too unfair. Besides some enemy placement, the game is relatively easy and you can fly through it pretty quickly if you have a grasp on the movement. There are only nine worlds, so you can finish and 100% the game in about 3 hours. I give this game 5/10, Average.
Very Good Game for People who love Pixel Games (myself) !! I have not the best English !!
But there are downsides as well (Its not out for long and will probably be fixed)
1. Achievments do not work at least for now
2. I dunno if its a bug but i had all Characters right at the start
But despite some Bugs its a good Game and not too expensive so
i would recommend it
