i take it back i hate it
theres no street fighting moves that you can do, even though it was advertised that you could do them. the enemy just blocks everything and barely reacts to your punches, resulting in you having to do stupid shit to beat them.
I only need 5 minutes to see how bad this game is.
First off, there are only 3 settings - Texture Quality, Post Processing Off or On and Effects. No sound, no shadows, shaders, model quality, no control remapping - nothing.
Secondly, there's no indication that the "other" modes aren't there or anything. You try to select them and nothing happens - so why not put a note saying "These are not in the game yet"?
Now, into the fighting - you are thrown in with no tutorial, no guidance, nothing. You have to figure out how to play this game yourself.
So there's me, wondering what do I do? I use the left stick, I can't move, I use the right stick, I can't turn around??? How come the enemy gets the ability to go around me but I don't get that same luxury?
The indicators of whether or not you've done damage or how much aren't there. You punched him but... Did it hit him? Did it hurt him? If so, how much did it hurt???
Then, there's the controls. You are not told what each button does but when you use it, it's still confusing. The only thing I figured out is that the face buttons on the right controller do a right kick (a detached foot comes up) and for the face buttons on the left one, you do a left kick. But both buttons work - is one a lower kick and a higher kick??? There's really no way to tell since it happens so fast.
Then there's also the indication that you are "tired" which is just a heavy breathing noise. Not sure how I'm meant to tell at what point I can't kick/punch, but apparently I'm meant to.
It also appears to be abandoned by the devs, who are updating a new game that they've released instead of finishing their current one.
Overall, I'd say this could be fun with polish, clear guidance and better design, but in the end it lacks all of those.
If the developers want input they should contact me and I'd provide feedback. In a nutshell, the concept of the game is the only worthwhile part. The mechanics are completely unrealistic and totally not responsive. It's waaay too easy and punches are thrown and then land out of sync in totally unrealistic ways. I beat the entire game in less than 20 minutes, first try (and you probably will, too). The developers should try to get in touch with whoever made Thrill of the Fight. Those mechanics are the best I've experienced. I would not by this game unless some major work is done to improve the realism and responsiveness.
As a lifelong martial art practitioner I enjoyed the simple gameplay and a real adrenaline rush associated with a sparring. Good cardio workout too. Looking forward to it being developed further; took me less than an hour to get through all the opponents, including generous breaks between fights.
Attempted to play through this to find there is no locomotion nor turning so, I spent most of my time in game dangerously close to beating a wall. No instructions whatsoever, tried every button and couldn't manage to figure out how to kick.
I enjoyed the grappling of arms but it wouldnt last long due to my enemies always backing out of my reach, then when they come back into range I get hit by a series of unblockable attacks.
I love fighting games and I'd love to see this one improved upon later, but as it is now, its a swinging match.
This is the best vr game in terms of price / quality. I recommend everyone to play this indie masterpiece at least once.
This game is a let-down. The mecanics are non-intuitive and slow, and the game content is limited to 3 opponents, who are +/- identical. A let-down for sure, compared to e.g. "Thrill of the Fight".
Shows great potential, a lot of ideas are still needed to change this from a demo into a full game though. The game itself seems fun and playable, its the complete lack of anything that's the current issue, but hopefully the dev's will put the time in and make this into something entertaining and satisfying
I really liked this game. I did not even expect that she would entice me so with her gameplay. Play do not regret it.
What is surprising this game is worth a penny for such quality.
very cool game! most interesting! worth the money 100% I think it will be more interesting than cs
I like the concept of the game. The idea of a street fighting VR game sounds pretty cool, but sadly it was poorly executed here, and I do mean very poorly. First off, the only story in the game you're getting is what's in the store page description. There's no campaign, no missions or anything, just three areas to pick from in any order you choose and that's it. The fighting is god awful as well. If you think you're going to be throwing punches and kicks and expect to get clean hits, it's not gonna happen. You can be as accurate as you possibly can when throwing a punch but you will not hit your intended target. The only two punches I found that really work are over the top punches and body shots. The only real effective thing you can do is block attacks well. Considering how cheap the game is, I wasn't expecting anything too outstanding but I was still expecting something to be good but nope.
If you're really curious about this game, then go ahead and give it a try. It's only 8 bucks and it shouldn't put too much of dent in your wallet. I beat the game in 20 minutes so you should be able to refund it after beating it if you don't like it lol.
I think there's good potential in Fighting Clans, and would encourage supporting it. Thoughts and recommendations in detail here: https://youtu.be/gcNDX-lUDMc
Played on Oculus Quest, using Virtual Desktop to Stream.
The game is incredibly barebones bad. It doesn't let you punch in a straight line even. Me doing actual martial arts, i came into this game with a open mind on it being bad, but this is just not worth money at all.
My device:
Oculus Rift
Pros:
Realistic graphics. Not too beautiful, but functional
Hand tracking looks OK
Cons:
No enemy customization, they're all 20-30 cm shorter than me (I'm ~185cm), so I have to keep swing downward
Cannot recenter & reorient, even with Oculus' reset view. It's a big problem with people with small room (like mine)
Animation could be bad: All enemies stay REALLY close to you (too close you can kiss them if you want, literally). It's good for hitting enemies if you have short arms, but the down side is that if you try to close up on them, their arms can twist in directions that is simply impossible for human beings. It's hilarious for the first few minutes, but it gets old, pretty quickly
If we really put some effort in throwing your punches, you would find the hand tracking is not that accurate, and the hit box is really weird
It could be a good game for indoor VR exercise, IF the devs can address the cons I listed above. However, I would not recommend it at current state
it would be nice to resize your arms like in the settings of Aeon. it doesnt feel right when my arm is extended but in the game its bent. i personally like being more of an athletic build, not bulky. shape and size of self in comparison with opponents would be cool. it would also be nice if when his hands are up and i punch between his hands at his face, it hits him. if you guys could make there blocking actually target my fist with accuracy, so that its a visual block, that would be cool. same with me, if i could block there kicks and punches visually, and it registers as a block..that would be nice.
a very realistic game, in the style of street skirmishes for money, only the multiplayer mode is missing
A very modern and thoughtful fight, I am not particularly a fan of games of this genre, but this game suited me both for the price and the idea
My first such acquisition of the VR genre, what I can say is very impressive, the very thing is to stretch the bones after long hours of sitting games, the price does not bite, the schedule of norms, I advise you to buy
Not a bad game for VR fans, you will definitely like it. The game was created taking into account the rules of street fighting. You fight to win, you win to survive. The only drawback is that the game is in early access and wait for its final development .
I play all of the melee combat games just because they all feel a bit different.
This one is somewhere in between Thrill of the Fight and Fight Sparring VR. It has the same problem as both of them in that landing punches isn't very satisfying. Landing punches I give about a 6/10.
It's playable, but the opponent doesn't really react enough. If i smack them hard I expect them to stumble back.
Another negative is your stance doesn't change when you rotate your body which is a bit weird. Also the fact that when you look down you can see right through your leg is weird. Not the end of the world...just weird.
It's also weird that you can open and close your hands but I can't seem to grab the guy.
On the positive side I like that you can kick. Would be cool if there was more variety in kicks, if opponent could grab your leg, send you to the floor. A lot of potential, it's just not there yet.
The ambiance and music is pretty cool. Makes it feel different from the other boxing games.
It's a decent game to throw on for a quick workout. Fast to get up and running. Needs more content.
