About the Game
Hello everyone, we are the Aluba Studio, and we are happy to share our game with you that is Cyber Manhunt.Like this game's name mentions, this is a cyber-puzzle game which is combined with the network of violence, big data, loss of privacy and other social problems.
Many plots of this series game relate to real events. So you can find many familiar stories in your life as Deja-vu scene.
Theme
In our creative process, we found that the Internet is more important in our life than everyone's imagination. Social events always have different opinions in the real world. And there is always has a little group of people who enjoy judging others, and because of that, the events would be more complicated, even leading emergencies to happen. When information flow quickly transforms in every place of the world, immorality and illegal news always happen. In this process, more and more people enjoy being judging process.
After careful consideration, we decided to make an amazing game to let people really know about the dangers of internet world. We focus on the dark web, truly cybercrime and privacy burglary, tried to let gamers can experience being a hacker in the real world. Every little operation would affect the life of the characters in the game, which would let you rethink the relationship between people and the internet.
Features
You can do some really hack in our game:
·Web search
You should collect basic information about the targets through the Internet search.
·Database
You can use the database to get deep information about targets.
·Crack
You would get passwords based on the obtained target's information, and use it to log in to accounts of different platforms (including email, social media, chat application, etc.)

The exciting thing is that you need to chat with targets by disguise and use the information to get the trust of the target.
·Picture Analysis
You can get valuable information and relevant clues from pictures.

·Rich Gameplay
There are lots of features of Social Engineering in the game, which is including Detecting, Tracking, Puzzles-Solving, Destroying and Hacking etc..
·Complex Story
The game will judge the good and evil of the player's behavior. Different judgments will lead to different plot directions.
·Multiple Roles
There are many different roles in this game with a flash of personality. Their stories would be dug by yourself.
Written in the end
When we decided on the subject matter of the game, we thought about it for a long time. Because of This War of Mine, Papers, Please, Orwell and other excellent indie games, we also want to make a game that allows gamers to think outside the game. We tried so many times to brainstorm.
We set up a Social Engineering group to find some experts and ask them about the skills for giving gamers a real hacking experience. We even read the book The Art of Deception written by the famous hacker Kevin David Mitnick to figure out how a real hacker's works. These studies directly opened the door to a new world for all of us. The disciplines involved social engineering, psychology, micro-expressions, phrase skills and so on, which kinds of studies make us have great confidence in the theme of the game and gameplay.
Not just professionals and books, we also get inspiration from cinema. For example, through Who Am I: No System Is Safe, we have seen another explanation about hacking skills. Through Searching we have learned how to create storytelling in details and how to let the audiences and games focus on where we expect them to focus. Every times learning makes us closer to the game in my heart.
So as we mentioned before, this game is very special and unique which combines a lot of creativity. I really hope that you guys could like this game so much. Please feel free to leave your advice and feedback in Community.

开户好玩爱玩,逻辑也特别好
Similar to the "Orwel" games. Overall decent, but with some grammatical/translation errors. Some of the mini games are obtuse, but otherwise, a puzzle game you'll enjoy your time with.
Terrible game, very frustrating. I saw many people mention this and I totally agree, the public influence mini-game basically ruined the experience for me. Besides that very repetitive and very easy to lose track of the narrative as it barely explains anything. Disappointing.
Amazing game! so immersive and also game me chills! Music is also amazing.
就喜欢这种orwell类型的游戏kek, 要是能把收集信息到笔记本上的动画关掉,再给各种应用程序加一个最大化的按钮就好了
After one hour I finished the first actual mission and I must say that the story is indeed interesting but the game is so linear and doesn't really let you do anything I didn't find any motivation to continue with it.
An interesting and fun game with an great story with lots of twists, as you explore people's hidden lives.
I think the game hits a sweet spot between making the game too easy by holding you hand through everything, and too hard where where you actually need a computer science degree to understand whats happening. It highlights important text for you as well as automatically recording any important information you get. The game also gives you a few clues if your lost, but you still need to pay attention and understand whats happening.
A few complaints however, firstly the voice acting is not the best. Most of the time it's just bland delivery but Van is outright cringy and annoying. There are a few times when i thought "That's not fair," or "how was i suppose to figure that out." But these moments aren't common, and you always get a couple of those in these type of games. They're are a few moments (mainly during phishing and hacking minigames) where you aren't given enough information to chose the right answer so i usually had to just trial and error these parts.
Overall Its game that strikes a perfect difficulty, (mostly). Combined with a good and engaging story and you've got a good indie game. There is a lot of reading however so it may not be for everyone, but if you don't mind then i would pick this up.
An ok attempt at whatever this genre is, it's no The Operator, but it's (mostly) playable and very rough around the edges, being riddled with terrible ESL dialogue that ChatGPT could've done a better job at generating. This game is translated from Chinese so that accounts for some of those issues, but worse are that some of the "puzzles" are just incomprehensible nonsense based off of bad information the game gives you. In places like the "symbols" password or the phone unlock pattern for Jim's phone you will basically have to use a guide because you aren't given correct information, or an indicator that you have bad information and need to work around it. You will also require a guide for the later public opinion "game" which can be found on Steam, because it is unplayable as the Engrish describing each topic makes it incomprehensible as to whether it's good or bad to promote.
The voice acting and art are also not great, two other aspects that quite frankly would've been handled better by AI, and the menu options have text that sometimes don't fit their graphics or are hidden behind them. Overall the presentation and feel is very janky mid-2000s but I'm giving it a yes anyway because I like this genre and at least an attempt was made. At the time of this writing there is already a sequel out so hopefully some of these issues were ironed out, but that remains to be seen.
So disappointed to have to leave a negative review for such a silly addition to a great game. The public image manipulation minigame is the must frustrating thing I've played in a long time. Even after consulting different walkthroughs online, it still seems the outcome is always arbitrary. This should absolutely be a skippable part of the campaign because it honestly just ruined the entire experience for me. I've seen a few people saying the same thing. So disappointing, but I had to just give up on the game and continue onto the second one instead. Developers please fix this.
poor story. im getting bored. the game force you to do everything in order. my stalker skill is outstanding comparing to this game.
Runs like crap, absolutely unplayable compared to their second one. CMH 2 is better quality and runs much more smoothly and is... actually playable. But my god the voice acting. If only they could actually hire quality animators, actors, and put real work into this series and money where their mouth is this series could have really been something. Hire real voice actors guys.
Have to say, this game was phenomenal. Really immersive story; however, I had two small issues with it.
(1) For some reason, on certain graphic settings, text would not render properly—either not showing at all or only being partially there. Not a big issue, though, since it's pretty easy to go into the settings and change that.
(2) The function of having to gather all clues before being able to proceed makes sense; however, if you somehow forget to scan something like a Toothbook ID, you just can't progress and have no idea what to do. It's just a really annoying process of going through everything again and searching for anything you have not clicked yet.
But these problems don't make it a bad game. It's still really fun to play, even though I recommend playing it with a guide if you have problems.
good story and gameplay
Very good
When it works it's fun, but majority of the time I was just frustrated. Dozen times I had the answer but wasn't able to enter it anywhere because I wasn't clicking on the correct pixel or I had not followed the illogical but required step. The atrocious translation and the clunky interface get in the way so much I was just rushing through a guide to finish it. I hear the sequel is much more polished, good for them.
The concept of the game is great. The Narrative is interesting, but you have to go so fast that you don't really get to enjoy the story. The mechanics of the game are terrible. Playing on a laptop with a trackpad/clicker, I spent way too much time pushing the various windows around trying to get the right window that had the info that I needed. When you have to go so fast, you don't have time for all the opening, closing, pushing windows around. Also, having to look up the same info twice in different chapters of the game is silly, because a real computer-based detective would have had it already. But overall, I enjoyed using the many digital forms of hacking info, cracking codes, and piecing together the story. I like the way the game brought in social media influencers too, that felt very 'real'. Another critique is that the game is very violent in parts, violent stories of torture, rape and killing; demeaning to women on the whole. There is no need for it to be so violent; it doesn't make it a better story. For that, I would not recommend it.
After spending over 12 hours in Cyber Manhunt, I can say it’s one of the most immersive and unique gaming experiences I've had in some time. I found myself genuinely curious about how my choices will affect the ending and the follow up on the characters' lives after each chapter.
wish there was a "meh" option. sometimes i was left confused at what i was supposed to do next, and some parts of the game were not enjoyable. but other parts were fun. there are also some translation errors which made things hard to understand.
The execution needs work.
I enjoy Orwell and other games in this vein. My main issue here is that it's tedious. It doesn't show you which information it wants you to click on until you mouse over it. But sometimes clearly important information isn't clickable. Other times information will be essential to click, but it's unclear exactly why. The result is that you have to mouse over everything, relevant or not. If you missed something, you have to search everywhere again to find it.
The result was me being in a place where I knew all the answers and had solved everything, but wasn't allowed to end the level because I had missed clicking on some piece of information somewhere. I looked at important pieces of information multiple times, and eventually found that the piece I had missed was something that was only slightly relevant to the situation at hand.
In other words- it didn't make me feel like I was solving puzzles. It made me feel like I was trying every single option whether it made sense or not, because that was the only way to progress. When I got stuck, it wasn't because I couldn't figure something out or because I didn't understand, it was because there was some random thing that I hadn't realized it wanted me to do.
good
Amazing games, i am so hooked up by this, the story are very good and very real i really enjoyed it and i read every text email etc not to find clues but really enjoyed snooping into others haha, it is real criminal story that can or already happens with many manipulative strings, i loveee it, the story is personal and emotional to me and i sympathize with the characters
This game is more social engineering than networking.
Detective game with cyber make up.
Decent enough detective game unfortunately marred by the occasional moon-logic and severe losses in translation.
Nul
I give Cyber Manhunt a middle B. It's a fun investigation game that is similar to Orwell and Analogue: A Hate Story where you piece together the plot by using "hacking," or really Hollywood-style hacking in between social engineering.
The gameplay suffers a bit for its loop, in which the majority of your time is spent looking through in-game social media logs of your subjects. That's a fun premise, but the game proceeds by having you click on relevant lines of text. When you hover your cursor over lines you can "collect" to add to your case file, the lines turn red, but otherwise there is no indication which bits are relevant. There are many times early on I just missed the lines in question, and so I spent the last few chapter meticulously mousing over EVERYTHING so I didn't miss anything, but I STILL missed things. It was a little frustrating and I had to use a guide a couple times to find what I had overlooked, even though I read everything.
More frustrating than that though are the mini-games. Usually when doing something more intense than reading, you're playing a mini-game to hack a system or reason out a situation. For the most part these mini-games aren't difficult and I appreciate the variety. However, in later chapters the mini-games start getting time limits, and some of these are unnecessarily harsh. A particular hacking mini-game in Chapter 5 nearly made me rage quit, and even with a video tutorial from YouTube, I was really struggling to get past it. Maybe I'm just a slow reader, but I think it's just less-than-good game design.
The developer seemed to understand those criticisms too because in the Home Sweet Home DLC there aren't any time limits, and in Hello World there is only one mini-game with a time limit that's incredibly generous. Also in the DLCs, the mini-games can be straight up skipped. I wish that had been in the base game.
Luckily, all mini-games and gameplay loop tedium are absolutely overshadowed by the excellent story. All seven chapters (DLC included) had great twists and turns. All the cases are connected in subtle ways, and almost no one ended up how they began. All the characters were complex, and the writers absolutely nailed social media posts, including strangers of all genders uncomfortably randomly hitting on strangers in their own feeds. And what starts off as a "simple" matter of investigation eventually spirals into sci-fi and metaphysical questions. I loved it.
The English translation is unfortunately wonky, and there are typos or "just doesn't sound right" issues in just about every other sentence. There's also some polish issues where the voice acting doesn't quite match up with what's on the screen, like the script changed after the line were recorded. Even so, the translation is good enough that you can follow what's going on and there's nothing more egregious than mixing up pronouns. But man, if the story had been run through a native English speaker/writer before being released, this would have been an incredible story.
The music is awesome as well, and really sets the mood, but the story really caries the game. I'm excited to try the sequel now, though I'm hoping the gameplay loop for Cyber Manhunt 2 is less tedious.
This game is pretty good. The english isn't perfect but it's good enough. I have to give a warning: I'm not a puzzle person. I suck at puzzles. I was able to do a good portion on my own and used a guide for the rest. There are very dark themes, there's mentions of SA and animal abuse, it's disturbing. The story is absolutely fantastic and sucked me in. THAT SAID. The puzzle at the end are absolutely ridiculous. I get it's the end, there's a big climax to the story. I spent well over an hour trying to do the end puzzles WITH A GUIDE. They are timed, it was impossible for me to get the good ending, I didn't have enough time. I had to settle for the general ending, which I almost cried because you still have to solve a few more puzzles before you get the end.
So I say I'd recommend this if you enjoy puzzles and a challenge. Maybe not so much if you're more of a casual gamer. They do have a "simple" mode on like a puzzle at the end if you failed too much. I was happy to finally beat the game. I was glad to see the end story and it hooks you to want to play more. I'm on the fence about the DLC since the puzzles.. UGH. I got this bundled with the sequel so I'll try that. I wouldn't say this game is a definite thumbs up. I'd probably give a neutral rating if there was one.
This plays like a visual novel with some puzzles scattered throughout. At some point, the devs decided to add some mini games too, which can be interesting... and frustrating. Thankfully they added an easy mode that triggers on one of the puzzles if you keep messing up too often. Overall, if you're looking for a deep state crime visual novel with heavy cyber themes, I think you may love this game.
Worth trying if you haven't palyed similar games. Some achievements are too difficult to complete.
