i like this game but it needs a patch

Even if the game were not plagued with technical problems, I would still not recommend Manhunt. It's a game of two extremes: mind-boggling boredom and infuriating frustration.

Absolute brilliant game, but though i can say there's a argue between this or the Bully game.

Game in general is amazing starting from the start to the end, including the combat, stealth, characters, enemies, and lots more. If you are planning on getting a old horror/stealth game well here it is.

BUT i can say one thing that you will need to know before buying. There is a pirated glitch and the only way to fix it is me suggesting either looking up a YT tutorial or looking on the steam community, I've also found out downloading manhunt fixer will do the trick.

Make sure to patch the game before you play. Rockstar too busy making RDR, a 14 year old game, a $50 pc port even though I got it cheaper on the 360.

Good game, just download Manhunt fixer to play. (It is not a virus I swear) I forgot to add that I almost broke my hand playing this game.

It's impossible to play; Rockstar didn't remove the anti-piracy measures and probably never will.

They should not sell the game if you cannot run it properly due to the company's anti-consumer behavior; it feels almost like a scam.

Quite an atmospheric and grimy stealth, horror experience once you get the proper fixes. Could do with some more variety in its weapons, enemies and maps though. The aiming could be improved too, but its not a major part of the game until the second half so its not a deal-breaker.

An absolute classic.

I played this originally back in 2003 on PS2 and it always stuck with me as a great horror game. Never got around to actually beating it on PC until just now because of the easy Community Hub Download for Win 10/11. Runs perfect with 1 easy download.

Manhunt is an almost perfect horror game (if we talk about pc gaming at the time), where there is basically nothing to complain about in terms of atmosphere/story/soundtrack, after all, it is created by one of the most influential game studio. As for the genre (stealth, third person with melee/shooting) its stylistically very unique, but there are some similar games like the suffering 2004 or second sight 2005. Gameplay is at least the first half of the game based only on melee combat, where you can choose how quickly or brutally you dispose your enemies and later on you get weapones like revolver/sawn off shotgun/uzi. Atmosphere is probably the most nihilistic experience to encounter in a video game. Don't look for a moral compass here, even though you kill worse criminals than you play as, after each episode there is a stat screen that rewards for the most brutal ending of enemies. It's a bit reminiscent of hotline miami series at times. In its day, it was a middle finger aimed at media/government that criticized violence in video games, that were often censored in some countries, or outright banned like this game in Australia, which I think was rather comical and hypocritical. On the other hand, this raises the question of where the tolerable limit of explicit content is, if there is one nowadays. In my opinion, the soundtrack (dark ambient/industrial/darkwave) is the most striking thing here, it changes dynamically according to the state of your enemies and it overall complements the visual side of the game. The story and voice acting is also excellently written and performed. The only downside of this game is that it is sometimes a bit tedious and repetitive, especially the finishers. To sum it up, this used to be a very favourite game of mine, that is certainly worth trying out, and sometimes I still go back to it, but as my taste alters, i get more unwanted edgy feel from it. (also the VHS style pc box is awesome)

Make no mistake, Manhunt IS A GOOD GAME. The negative review is not relevant to the game itself, this port is not very good. You have to mod the fuck out of the game just to get it to function. Without modding i got softlocked because the gate door would not open in the beginning level. its a very good game, rockstar games just needs to learn how to port lmao

what a game. Rockstar will never make another game like this or its sequel. Manhunt is an ode to 90's gaming when developers were tired of games that were catered to children and not adults. Rockstar dropped this gem in 2004 and even some team members were not thrilled about working on this game. Either way we have a piece of gaming history that we will never be able to replicate again without causing even more controversy than it did back in 2004. If you do wanna try out Manhunt then before playing you MUST install Manhunt Fixer patch online which will fix soooooo many issues with the base pc game. Enjoy and happy hunting <3

I play this game whenever i feel a little down in the dumps

This game is legendary, its a fairly basic stealth game but the ultra-violence, the setting, themes, etc are all so brilliantly dark and haunting. It stays with you and I find myself coming back often. I imagine we will all have to revist these classic titles with the coming waves of trash games

Nor will "Bully 2" ever come out and if it does or we somehow get a manhunt 3 (LMAO) then you can be sure they will be soulless, agenda filled, and mundane just like GTA6 inevitably will turn out to be. In fact I honestly wouldn't be surprised if R* pull this game and other older titles and try and delete them from existence soon. Judging by how some of their current employees view these older "offensive" titles.

See rockstar was amazing because it started out as a bunch of young guys with tons of freedom to explore ideas and push boundaries, Do you think that will happen when Rockstar themselves have said they are focusing on "diversity, equity, inclusion" and not "punching down" with humour. Laughable.

They tout that they finally got rid of the "boys club" feeling in the rockstar offices. I would argue that so called boys club was THE reason we got games like this, GTA, Bully, etc. Without that essence, without the creative geniuses and worst of all with most of the talent replaced by diversity hires you can be damned sure any future R* title will be more of the "modern audience" crap.

Good luck waiting for GTA6, I'd sooner go back to Carcer City to crack some skulls...

Family friendly game

Rockstar clearly is selling a pirated version of this game on steam and I was forced to download a patch manually. I can't get past the damn gate. Don't know why they did this when they listed the game perfectly patched on Xbox One/Series X and PS4/PS5.

I love both manhunt and manhunt 2 but this version is literally unplayable, you have to download unofficial third party software just to launch the damn game. Just download the game on some emulator or pirate it, it'll be eazier than making this piece of shit work and it'll be free.

People at rockstar are fucking scumbags for charging anything for a fucking unplayable game.

I regret buying this with having a backlog. Getting to it after the return period and its bugged as shit and unplayable with crashes happening often. Haven't looked into the manual patching etc but this is unacceptable.

I agree that it is awesome but, as you know, there's bugs. (And it's a pirated copy.) Here's some steps for how to fix it if you can't fucking read any ratings. 1. Learn how to read shit. 2. Have a 56k Modem or better. 3. Download Manhunt Fixer, found on Github. After that, check whatever boxes you want. Then you're done! Yay! You learned how to read and follow directions! Then you can download any other mod and patches. Have fun. (No, I won't review the game, cause I want "kaughmady" in my ratings.
