Very fun and interesting drift style arcade game. The game-play loop is very fun and rewarding. The artstyle is reminiscent to that of Initial D, which I like about the game. The controls are very different to any other racing game I've played, but also feel very intuitive after the first 30 minutes. All the cars drive very differently, and takes time to master each one. The story itself will probably only take about 1-2 hours on each character, however there is much more to do in the game such as arcade, challenges to unlock more cars, a Grand Prix which is 5 challenges for each car, a more difficult version of the story "Xtra Crispy", and a DLC which introduces 4 new cars, new challenges, and a few new tracks.
Overall, after putting 40 hrs into the game and getting 100% of the achievements,
I can say I definetely recommend this game if you're looking for a relaxing, arcade style drifting game that's addicting and fun.

not bad
An enjoyable racing game with a fun attitude and interesting mechanic for drifting. Clearly this is what everyone's typically talking about in rating it, so here's my take:
- you get used to it super fast. It sounds like it would be weird, but it's really intuitive (at least on the beginner cars)
- different cars handle differently, and the triggers for drift change. Some you just need to press the stick, some need a quick brake, some need a quick let-off of the gas. Combine this w. the faster speeds, and the cars all feel quite different.
- it didn't feel like there was a lot of instruction on how to drift with the faster cars, so you're left trying to figure it out, making that part feel un-intuitive and frustrating
- the differences in handling really change the experience of the race. The beginner car is really easy, so it's super fun. as you move up, it becomes more about precision.
and some bonus points to make:
- unlocks are frequent, keeping me interested to keep playing
[*]inclusive character design makes me happy
It can be really relaxing, and its visually beautiful without needing much pc power to pull it off, reccomending this game to any racing game fans
Great fun little easy to pick up hard to master little arcade racer, I'm really enjoying this and it's promising and enjoyable mastery curve.
The game is great, just needs macOS support
Drifting and chilling. A relaxing drift racing game, with a cozy context.
Inertial Drift is a sleeper hit of an arcade racer a diamond in the rough that has a lot potential every car is unique and has a drive style a kin to fighting games. my favorite mode on paper are duels since it every similar to the old Wangan midnight games having health bars but it a bit flawed due to the races all set in starting line and not in a crawl speed of 80mph. the problem stems that power cars can get an easy leg up in the early start of the race which most of the tracks start in straights nimble type which can hold there own in later segments of the tracks can't shine unless you're on the DLC tracks. Races are set up like the Initial D arcade games and the whole vibe of Inertial Drift is inspired by ID with hints of Wangan here and there all that missing is a rock ost as well.
The story while set up like Ridge Racer type 4 is alright but wished it had more substance then just 4 friends in summer racing and try to become pros & meeting ppl that have similar happy vibes since in some way the story is set up as it a competition but everyone is very lax about it all and it lacks the "why I Drive" motive or the twist and turns of it drama that but Initial D and Wangan are known for that is having complex characters that can & will cause conflicts. by all mean the gameplay is great but requires some learning curves with each car and the only time you can see the stats of the cars in the game are in grand prix and challenge which to be fair is a only critical flaw when playing with friends in split screen, the minor flaws like having no impact with each racer and only being 1 vs 1 limits the races as 4 player free for and 2 vs 2 modes would give so much more life to the competitive aspects of Inertial Drift as the online is a bit hard to find anyone nowadays.
If there ever is going to be a Sequel to Inertial Drift I hope the Devs take inspiration from Wangan Midnight and Initial D and their arcade cabinets. 4 player mode would be the creme de la creme, & rouge like highway grit racing mode with actual traffic with collision would be cool. Mirco tuning with cars having a "drift", "balance", "grip" and "extreme drift/grip" type of each car and body modding to be a possible addition would increase the replay value in modes since no two cars will play the same as well as be a nod to car tune cult that is part of street racing.
I really do love this game and I'd be hyped to see ID2 be thing but as it stand Inertail Drift is a good game worth trying out and telling others to hop onif the like arcade racer like wangan midnight and initial D
This feels so good to play once you get the hang of it. It's probably the most I've enjoyed the act of just driving in a game, going round lap after lap in practice or time trial mode, especially once you start shaving seconds off your times. The Ridge Racer Type 4 vibes are exceptional (although it plays more like OutRun 2), and there's so much variety to the cars that mastering each one feels like a game in itself.
It's worth knowing exactly what this game is though. It's not a racing game. You don't do any racing against real opponents - even in the story mode the one-on-one races are against ghosts (explained in the game as all the cars having anti-collision technology). So in essence, you're doing a series of time trials with different dressing.
Hot
Boring with boring characters.
Probably the best arcade driving game I have played with a on point art style and soundtrack. A different type of controls to figure out, which feel super satisfying when you get it right. 100% recommend
Great short experience. Can be a long one if you decide to do all the extra content.
When paired up with your favorite selection of eurobeat tracks, this game has the most immaculate vibe I have ever experienced in my life. Would recommend.
As a fan of Initial D, I really like this game.
The use of twin-stick and the variety of cars are designed well.
short and trash
yeah this game isnt that great because u cant even customize cars pretty boring for my opinion.
even the drifts isnt that rewarding for ur skills its pretty easy to drift on this game
the only good modern racing game
9 you may be wondering why i said 9? well 9 is read as nien and nien in german means no, i am saying no to this game idk whats worse the gameplay, the control or my life, id say its the music
Very fun drifting game.
Both stick steering is a bit awkward at first but it get intuitive over time.
all 10 tracks are from easy lake run to very challenging downhill mountain pass
Every car behave differently and have their unique quick.
such as one car, the Jester, it swings really hard on the drift stick but you can also tap the brake to restabilise the car or make it swing the other side.
it feels very satisfying to remember and clear a course without crashing
Broken piece of trash garbage with gamepad fetishism
game starts and immediately a dumb n boring animated cutscene with progressive characters a nonthreatening guy in pink color clothes and empowering woman of colour,.probably whole purpose of this is to make yet anotehr reddit post about "Check out our cool animated intro in our indie game!" n farming internet points. And to these developers just one message instead of wasting peoples money on such pointless trash maybe make the game better instead if i wanna watch a cutscene i go watch a movie or a youtube ..
next..start game.. acceleration is on spacebar..nice joke.
geniuses..have you ever played a racing game before on PC with keyboard like a normal computer user.?
ok i go rebind it , start rebinding keys to normal setup that should be default guess what happens...u cannot input anything for the action "reverse" and it locks u completely in the key rebinding menu n u cannot do anything but alt f4 . genius developers .how do u accomplish this ? with what strain of weed ?. steam should hire u . woont be suprized u are also secretly mining bitcoin from computers that this malware crappy game is installed on..well if u wanna mine so much maybe somebody should give u a pickaxe and a few years to spend in a coal mine or quarry(preferably directly under drug rehab clinic) so u can have lots and lots time to think about your life and actions . people want play games for fun not to deal with al lthis stupid crap.so make a fun game or dont bother making one at all.just complete disgrace to gaming
The default keyboard setup in this game is probably the most idiotic one i have ever come across in a game. I plugged in the gamepad and played the game a bit with it . the game is complete trash.it has become obvious the developers neveer played a racing game before.when u race vs enemies u will constantly and with no effort accumulate seconds between your leading position and their position somewhere in the far back.there is no thrill or challenge not in the gameplay nor in the race tracks design.the only challenge is to not feel repulsion towards this game.it can definitely be used as torture or interrogation technique-force somebody to play inertial drift
play these instead if u want good indie racing game that is fun , works n dont have sjw diarrhea

recommend for drift lover <3
Nice graphic nice arcade feel but music sucks. Wheres Initial D?
This is an insanely fun arcade racing game. The twin-stick controls and car physics will take some getting used to and the game is pretty damn unforgiving in the later stages, but since there's no rubber-banding or car collision, it all purely comes down to your skill level and knowledge of the tracks. Each car also has its own "quirks" that you'll need to learn to deal with in order to squeeze every last second out of these (very pretty) race tracks. It all makes for a very satisfying challenge.
It took me about 30 hours to complete all the storylines + DLC and beat every Grand Prix.
This is THE BEST racing game since Burnout Paradise. The satisfaction from driving is insane. I can't glaze this product enough for how perfect it is. This is a totally arcade JDM drift game. I did 100% achievements in 14h - there is comparably little content when you look at nfs games for example, but I think that those 14h were much more worth than my 120h in NFS heat. There are around 20 cars in the game and each car is EXTREMELY different. Picking up a new one is like learning how to play the game from scratch again. There are 4 maps with 2 tracks on each. We got the Japanese tight mountain streets and we got AE86 wannabe.
If I had to point one thing I didn't like, then it would be the character design. It's cartoonish, but it's just ugly for me (especially women). It's not a big deal, though, because I skipped every cutscene anyway.
On sale for 95% off (bought for AUD 1.47) so well worth it at that price.
It's a great little arcade racer with fun drifting mechanics and cool graphics/visuals. The tracks are fun and have that retro/synth/80s-90s futurism aesthetic we all crave once in a while. Sweet music too. Basic time-tracking and leaderboard system, nothing too in-your-face like the larger racing games. Casual and relaxing while still having the option for achievement hunting and chasing better spots on the leaderboard.
10/10 game. Each car's handling is unique, the tracks are well designed and you can drift. The criticism of all the race modes are just time attacks don't hold water when it's 95% off.
This game almost has it all:
- stunning visuals
- unique race controls
- colorful characters
- diverse car collection
- classic game modes
Only thing missing is free roam… devs please consider adding free roam as dlc or even adding it to Inertial Drift 2.
Creative way to drift, lack upgrades and tuning systems, not worth full price, buy this on sale.
Love this game, I would highly recommend it when it goes on sale, story is basically non-existent but I'm here to raise and drift corners.
Has a neat control scheme that is really enjoyable to use when playing with controller. (never tried keyboard)
Could use some more maps, but overall highly enjoyable for what I payed for it.
this game has beautiful artstyle for sure yeah, but WOW its...mediocre at best. like, not even trying to enjoy the singleplayer races i got bored of this game after awhile.
- online is dead, im disappointed
- the subreddit has said this game has connection problems
- controls are satisfying to use, but genuinely i'm more used to traditional trigger based drifts (like mario kart, i'm don't mean to biased)
- not worth the full price, better off just getting it while discounted
Underrated, but not worth the 20$ price point they wanted; I'd say this worth to get on sale when it's under 9.99$. Other than that, the ingenuity this game showcases is highly commendable, it's very creative and serves it's own purpose that allows it stand out differently than other games which focus on drift mechanics.
"Verified for Steam Deck"
Game stuck mid race and stuck the Steam Deck aswell forcing it to restart

Overview
"Inertial Drift" is a racing game that offers a unique experience, combining innovative control mechanics with a retro-futuristic aesthetic. Developed by Level 91 Entertainment, the title stands out for its unique approach to the racing genre, offering players immersive gameplay and a captivating visual style.
Graphics and Aesthetics
The aesthetics of "Inertial Drift" are one of its biggest draws. With vibrant graphics and a stylized design reminiscent of the 90s, the game creates a visually stunning environment. The tracks are colorful and vary in theme, from neon-lit cityscapes to lush natural landscapes. The color palette is rich and diverse, making each race a fascinating visual experience.
The lighting effects and vehicle animations are well-crafted, contributing to an overall presentation that is both nostalgic and modern. The car designs are also notable, with a variety of models reflecting a futuristic and eye-catching style.
Gameplay
"Inertial Drift" gameplay is where the game really shines. The title features an innovative control system that focuses on an asymmetrical drift mechanic, where players control the direction of the front of the car independently of the rear. This allows for a unique driving experience, where maneuvers are more intuitive and precise, making turns and drifts that much more satisfying.
The game modes are varied, including time trials, drift challenges and competitions against opponents, which keeps the experience dynamic. The progression system is rewarding, with new vehicles and upgrades that can be unlocked as players progress, encouraging experimentation and continuous improvement of skills.
Music and Sounds
"Inertial Drift"'s soundtrack perfectly complements the game's action. With a selection of electronic music ranging from fast-paced beats to more ambient sounds, the music helps to create an immersive and energizing atmosphere during the races. The sound effects of the vehicles, from the roar of the engines to the sounds of collisions and drifts, are well-crafted and add to the immersion of the racing experience.
Variety and Challenge
The game offers a wide range of tracks and modes that ensure a diverse experience. Each track has its own set of challenges and characteristics, requiring players to adapt and develop their skills. The difficulty curve is well-tuned, providing a balance between accessible challenges for newcomers and sufficient complexity for experienced players.
The drift challenges are particularly rewarding, encouraging players to hone their skills and explore the game's unique mechanics. The diversity of modes and variety of environments ensure that the experience never becomes monotonous.
Conclusion
"Inertial Drift" is a refreshing take on the racing genre, combining innovative gameplay with vibrant aesthetics and an engaging soundtrack. Level 91 Entertainment has succeeded in creating a title that not only pays homage to classic racing games, but also offers a new and exciting experience. For racing fans looking for something different, “Inertial Drift” is a must-try, providing hours of fun and challenge in a colorful and dynamic world.
im realy sad about the configurations of this game, before buying it i got the first chapter to see if it would run in my potato of a computer, and it did, and i loved it, but with the resolution turned way down, so i buy the full game and try to put the same res i had in the free one, and it does not let me, so now the game has to low fps to play, i am realy confused as how this is even an issue, why not give the option to have lower resolution? it is clearly possible and makes the game acessible to a wider audience of players
Got it at a 95% discount and it's a very enjoyable addictive game that can be picked up and played wherever without using up too much time. The perfect balance of being sucked into the decently written story and addictive gameplay.
Having the best drifting experience in this game with Edward as my first character, and it all changed after I tried Viv as my second character 💀💀. Anyway, I'm having a very good time playing this game and will probably spend more time on it.
P.S :
For newcomers who wanted to enjoy the drifting in the simplest way possible but could still enjoyed the game to the fullest, I recommend choosing Edward as your first character, but if you wanted challenge from the start then picked Ibba as your character.
This game is fantastic. Each car handles differently. Each track is well designed. Its a great take on the genre. Play this game!
I was on the fence about whether it was worth it. I beat the main story with one character and tried all of the tracks in the base game in just under two hours. Considering its 95% off right now I think it's alright since it costs as much as you'd pay for one credit and a 15 minute run in an arcade, though you don't get the same experience of amazing graphics or the festiveness of being in an arcade. There is instead a sort of zen feeling when you're drifting around in the sunset and learning to perfect going around the same curve with a particular vehicle. I didn't like the game too much until I started to get the hang of drifting after about an hour.
I will have to try the other cars too and see how differently they drift. The DLC adds eurobeat music and doubles the tracks too, which I haven't bought yet. If you care a lot about the scenery then you should probably buy an AAA game made by a team of artists such as Forza Horizon 5, which would have more replay value too. But for a discount this isn't a bad game if you like arcade games and Initial D's drift mechanics and want to try a few tracks.
it's a vibe and you can get it pretty cheap, nice little arcade racer to zone out and drift to
Fun drift mechanic, with each car behaving vastly different from each other in term of how easy a drift is achieved and how well it can be controlled. Good selection of maps and modes including the maps in reverse too.
It's REALLY good. Pick up this game. I don't even play racing games and I'm in love already. Easy to learn, hard to master controls.
TL;DR - There's an old literature critique that goes "What's new isn't good and what's good isn't new," and the quickest summation of Inertial Drift is that its qualities are the opposite of that, meaning "What's good is what's new, and what isn't new isn't good."
As a result, Inertial Drift is a game that can only be recommended to the niche of racing game diehards looking for something different as a palate cleanser or for variety, but cannot in any way be recommended as a general racing game to be picked up by the average player.
Not Long Enough? Read On - The most interesting and novel things about Inertial Drift (and thus the best parts about it) are:
1)That a game so heavily based off of Initial D came out at all in Anno Domini 2020, some 25 years after that manga debuted is just FASCINATING.
2) The Eurobeat soundtrack itself is absolutely fire, and one of the game's best qualities.
3) Most importantly, the game's control scheme, which is very novel and exclusively geared toward making a racing game feel completely differently than pretty much any other to actually control and is exclusively focused around giving the player precision control over drifting turns specifically.
It's a weird control scheme, because pretty much every other racing game on a controller has played almost exactly the same over the last 30 or so years, (not counting digital steering wheels/pedals). The left stick essentially controls your front tires and the right stick your rear tires while you drift, allowing more control of the angle of your vehicle in a turn. Once you get past the learning curve and get used to the system, it ends up feeling pretty intuitive, and the fact that it works as well as it does as quickly as it does definitely means the devs are onto something here.
It's simply refreshing to play a well-worn genre in a new way that changes your perception of it.
But the thing is, that's it. That's the game's one trick. Once you get the controls, there simply isn't enough game in this game for a full or complete experience outside of those initial moments of discovery.
There aren't that many tracks (more with the DLC, but even then the game doesn't break 20) and while the ones they have are well designed, there simply isn't much to sink your teeth into if you don't like constantly trying to perfect your clear times. And even though there are a plethora of extra modes and all the tracks get a reverse version , the simple fact is due what's either lacking manpower, skill or budget, a decision was made that absolutely drains most of these modes of life and vitality.
That decision is that in actual races against opponents, there's no collision between the cars, turning all races essentially into ghost races, which *really* means all "races" aren't actually races, they're time attack challenges. So all those options you seemingly have? Yah, naw. You just have 4 flavors of time attack, really.
I'm not sure if this was an issue with programming the AI on cars to account for collisions, or a choice on difficulty, or some other reasoning, but it just means that the "races" in this game have no spark or pizzazz or randomness to them. The rival racers you face off against don't feel like they can be interacted with in any way when you simply pass through them on the track.
Though it's not like these rival racers are worth the AI either. Because there IS a story mode, but it is the most basic, low-stakes, boring, design-by-committee safe blandness you could ever imagine. It's very rare that I'd recommend a game remove its characters in place of having the player just select cars, since I'm a huge F-Zero fan and I've always loved unique drivers attached to unique vehicles that reflect their personality, but those characters actually have to have personality in the first place for this concept to work, and they don't here.
(this character blandness reeks of its corporate DEI consultancy aesthetic, if that matters to you, with characters fitting every inclusivity checkbox you could think of while having no discernable motivations, attachments or conflicts other than generically "to race cars" - they seem like characters created for an advertising campaign to sell KIAs or a new line of smart phones - and frankly the character art is just bad)
All told, once you get past the admittedly good hook of a novel control scheme to expand and focus on what is usually a secondary mechanic in racing games - drifting - and play this game for even a short while, you quickly find that positive elements of this whole experience extremely ephemeral and fleeting, and even trying to convince myself to soldier on to play this game to get 100% of its achievements (because they're pretty easy to unlock here, from the looks of things) seems like it'd be such a slog that I'd rather just uninstall and move on. Which . . . yeah, that's not something I'd recommend to people.
On the plus side though, this got me to rewatch Initial D, which definitely hit me with a wave of DEJA VU!
The gameplay in this game is fantastic, it's like a modern successor to the drift racing of the PSP Ridge Racer games. It runs really well on Steam Deck and I really enjoyed it.
However, you need to skip the story, it's utterly terrible. It focuses on a bunch of whiny teenagers/twenty somethings with self confidence problems that won't shut up about: "I don't know if I can do this! Maybe I should go and climb back into my mother's womb?!?! Waaah!". Then you have these other characters that you just clobbered on the track saying: "you gotta do this and you gotta do that or you'll never succeed like me!" and I'm just there thinking: "asshole, I just beat you by like ten seconds, shut up and go give your advice to someone that cares".
Why would dorks like these even be drift racing in the first place? They seem like the kind of people that spend all day sucking their thumbs in Starbucks worrying about political correctness arguments on Twitter.
Remember in Ridge Racer 4 on the PSX where Namco told these incredible, deep, complex stories for each of the four teams with a handful of dialogue lines and a few grainy, pixelated headshots? That was racing game story telling, not this nonsense.
Skip the story, stay for the genuinely great racing.
