Boring as hell...
Combat is dull, customization is a joke and the story is poor.
Even at 5$ it is a lost of money!
tomb wars souls. imagine tomb raiders exploration, with star wars lore and world and souls combat and shit optimisation. solid experience with a quality story (as expected from the star wars IP). there's alot of sekiro influence in here which i really like, but i wish that the parry was literally the same as in sekiro. parrying feels like shit in this game, dodge instead. more locations and less backtracking wouldve been cool too.
I could never understand why Star Wars has been so popular for decades. Lucas created a generic world by copying everything he was exposed to in his life. The only thing I find cool in that universe are the lightsabers and, to some extent, the Jedi. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is exactly about that. And when you add the Dark Souls formula, you get a great title. The game looks beautiful, and the characters are likable. I’d especially highlight the relationship between the boy and the little robot; they are really charming and credit goes to the writers for how well they wrote them. Aside from The Empire Strikes Back, this is the only thing I’ve liked in this mega-giga franchise so far.
4/5
the game is good, level design is great and fun to explore.
must play in jedi master or jedi grandmaster difficulty for souls-like experience
the worst thing is just EA Launcher, its fckin annoying
overall good, worth to buy when on sale
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an engaging action-adventure game that masterfully blends lightsaber combat, exploration, and storytelling. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, it follows Cal Kestis, a young Jedi on the run after Order 66, as he grapples with his past and the Empire's relentless pursuit.
The game excels in its combat mechanics, offering a satisfying mix of skill-based lightsaber duels and Force-powered abilities. The exploration is reminiscent of Metroidvania games, with expansive, interconnected worlds that reward curiosity and backtracking as new abilities unlock. The narrative is well-written, filled with compelling characters and emotional stakes, capturing the essence of Star Wars.
However, the game isn't without flaws. Some platforming sections can feel clunky, and occasional performance issues, like frame drops, may disrupt immersion. Despite this, Fallen Order is a must-play for fans of the galaxy far, far away and anyone who enjoys a story-driven action game.
Rating: 8.5/10
Awful user experience. Why does a single player game require me to have an EA account to play? And I definitely don't want to install another bloated (and not to mention buggy) launcher on my PC just to play a game I purchased on Steam. Even if there are workarounds for this, it's not worth it. EA has completely ruined what may have otherwise been a phenomenal game; I'll never know. I can only imagine once I got into the game, it would have been filled to the brim with micro-transactions. Bought this on a deep discount, and I still didn't think it was worth the annoyance.
EA Games are like an abusive relationship.
You forget why you broke up, convince yourself it could not have been that bad and try again.
And very soon you remember again why you broke up.
The EAApp is a pain in the ass.
It also does not tell you that you need to have it installed in order to play this on steam.
20 Euros of the prices right there.
The game itself is beautiful but optimized for controller, making it somewhat more difficult, and frustrating, on keybaord and mouse.
-5 Euros.
You cannot realize customize your character other than cosmetics, i.e. the skilling is limited to what force abilities you select. I would have like something more like KOTR.
Anyways, quite shallow game that would have been called "jump and run" decades ago.
Got this for 4 Euros.
If you have to pay more than 15 € don't.
I'm a big SW fan and dont really like the FPS trend that everyone else plays 24/7. So the solo playability of this game is something that I really, really enjoy.
10/10 - Graphics (though it does have a bit of lag on a non-top tier rig. I also encountered fatal errors when
attempting to lower graphics settings.)
10/10 - Combat and Combat Mechanics (all that you would expect from a Jedi)
9/10 - for solo play (Not 10 ONLY because it has no additional content added after release. The campaign
is pretty long, but it could always be longer.)
0/10 - for multiplayer, as there is none (which I frankly dont miss at all.)
quite unplayable (at least on amd, with damn near best in slot). Could see this game being really fun and tried real hard to get it to stay at a minimum 45 frams with mods and cpu settings but the game constantly freezes and stutters in every encounter, cut scene, battle, and anything inbetween. It was incredibly annoying for such a high profile game. Wish I could be surprised but its a common theme for pc ports :/
I debated on whether or not to thumbs up or down, then i remembered its EA and forces u to use the app and all that garbage so yea automatic thumbs down. The game in itself is only OK. NOT great, NOT bad, just mid. I think everyone is so starved for good games that they are quick to say a mid tier game is awesome. Only get this on sale at 3.99, anything higher and you might be more disappointed.
The major gaming industry, represented by EA, is churning out yet another mediocre product. And this is supposedly "one of the better games in the Star Wars universe" compared to the new "Outcast"? If "Jedi: Fallen Order" is considered a good game, then I have no idea what’s happening to gaming. Almost everything here is bad: mediocre dialogues, dumb and illogical scenes, pathetic "mass battles." This game embodies the degradation of gaming over the last decade.
"Mass battles" are nothing more than clunky, one-sided use of an AT-AT walker with stiff explosions and lifeless enemy destruction. A "mass battle" consists of 2-3 enemies and one large beast or a single walker, where all you do is press the same button repeatedly. The fight against an AT-ST on the planet Zeffo, even on the highest difficulty, can be won while standing in one spot.
Look at games from before 2010 with limited technology: Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The mass battles there, the effects—those truly felt like war, and you genuinely felt like a Jedi. Here, it doesn’t feel like the Empire is overwhelming or that you are the last Jedi. Instead, a couple of enemies come at you, and on the hardest difficulty, they kill you in 1-2 hits if you don’t dodge or block their attacks. In open areas, you might fight 2-3 stormtroopers, but across the street or on another tower, the other bots won’t even see you and only start fighting once you approach them.
EA’s managers seem to have decided to turn this game into an Uncharted-like experience with puzzles and jumping mechanics. I’d rather just play Uncharted than this watered-down "Jedi Uncharted."
The optimization is pretty poor that there are lags even when nothing is happening on the screen. The game does have beautiful water effects, rivers, and environments—this shows EA’s priorities. The most important thing is GRAPHICS, and then they’ll slap a terrible storyline onto it.
An example of a poor storyline:
You rescue your friend, and he finds out you’re a Jedi on the run. No one else finds out, and you casually return home on a train. The train has multiple wagons, but suddenly, out of nowhere, the train stops, and Imperial soldiers board your wagon. They ask everyone to step out for inspection. In your wagon, there were over 6-7 or more people, plus the other train wagons, but ONLY 5-6 people from YOUR wagon step out in an open space in the hill. Then an Imperial woman from your diversity HR department with a muscular chad appears and starts asking about the fugitive Jedi.
WHY NOW? WHY YOUR WAGON AND NOT THE WHOLE TRAIN? WHERE IS THE LOGIC? HOW THEY KNEW THAT YOU WERE THERE?
Your friend then starts talking like Lenin about the exploitation of the proletariat by capital. He gets killed, and you pull out your lightsaber, BUT INSTEAD OF KILLING YOU, THEY THROW YOU OFF A CLIFF SO YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF BY GRABBING ONTO THE TRAIN AND THE STORY OF YOUR MEIN KAMPF BEGINS.
This nonsensical string of "coincidences" happens constantly. They didn’t even bother with the script or dialogues. Also the cutscenes CAN’T BE SKIPPED and they obligate you to watch it. The battle seems more like Dark Soul with 1-2-3 stormtrooper rather than a Jedi battle.
In short, a complete waste of money, and I will never buy another EA game again. I fell for the "very positive review" without checking the gameplay and the story in youtube. The put characters from the movie for the hype. At level of gameplay, cutscenes and stuff -- it´s a degradation compared to old games from 2000-2012. You have just a fancy graphic.
Urgh, no wonder it was $5.... Backtracking galore, repetitive gameplay, typical DS clone
FANTASTIC opening, which is a COMPLETE LIE for the gameplay that follows... which is typical DS boring bullshit. Horrible placement of shrines/grace/meditation/other bullshit names which require pontless traversale, before death, and repeat. Fucking boring. Slow loading between deaths further frustrates any sense of progress.
Barely worth the price for the actual gameplay
I got this game for $3.99 during the Black Friday sale. If you're even remotely a Star Wars fan or love hack and slash/dungeon crawlers, this game is for you. The graphics are great and the game runs smoothly on maxed out settings, but there seems to be some memory leaks that are not fully optimized. I crashed maybe two or three times after a long time of playing, but nothing game breaking.
IIRC the game takes place roughly ~5 years after the Purge/Order 66, so if you enjoy exploring and learning more about the various characters not depicted in cinema during this time, you will like this setting.
The characters are likeable, and the plot is fantastic, but this is not an RPG, so you cannot make your own decisions that will influence gameplay. Animations are decent, but can feel a little stale as you progress into the game, which is very linear, so it feels better to just rush the game than to genuinely explore the planets (which for the most part just grant cosmetics).
As someone who is a casual Star Wars fan, I feel more motivated to get deeper in the canon and lore beyond just the video games and cinema. It's a good balance between creating new IP for the Star Wars enthusiast while still engaging the casual fan with subtle quips that callback to the familiar.
Honestly not worth the time unless you are a huge star wars fan. The atmosphere, settings, music, and art of the game are FANTASTIC. But everything else about it, from level design to puzzles are quite dull and boring. The same mediocre gameplay loops are used throughout the entirety of the story which are repetitive and uninspiring.
An intriguing canon-accurate story, great choreo and cinematography.
Would definitely recommend picking up this one if you are looking for some action Star Wars experiences.
A shame there is absolutely zero replayability aside from inquisitor cosmetics in new game plus. 8/10
Welp didn't realize this was an EA game. Bought this SINGLE player game to play on travel where I don't have Internet.....EA requires me to sign into their app and go online prior to launching.
EA is the worst company on the planet.
This game live only because of Star Wars title.
Gameplay is boring and repetetive.
Story is short and lacking.
There is no real side stories to follow or experience the world.

A very good star wars game. Visually very beautiful, story is good, and you get to play and customize a badass jedi. The platforming is good but nothing game changing. The combat system is satisfying and there's a good variety of lightsaber styles for you to play depending on which lightsaber you use.
Honestly, its a great game with great gameplay and opponents. That being said, the giant toad mini-boss(Oggdo Bogdo) on the first planet (Bogano) at the start of the game is stupidly difficult and took me 3 hours to kill on Jedi knight mode.
This game has terrible stuttering. unplayable and there is no way to fix it even if you changed options.
A bit clunky gameplay, but still an enjoyment.
This game was almost perfect, I love the story, the game is beautiful, you can switch difficulty mid-game, the only thing that is missing is fast travelling because OMG it take so long to come back to the ship or just to go to an area to search a chest or wtv you want to go. Would recommend 100%
Very difficult to use on both controller and keyboard. Scripted to death, it's just a quicktime playable movie, really.
to hell this stupid game, I bought this game long time ago, and just now i decided to give it a try, tried everything, looked up on reddit tried to tweak the graphics but nothing goes right.
I hate this fucking game! Love the locking animations that get you killed over and over again. The puzzles are horrible- they are not intuitive at all. The puzzles are retarded. Theres clearly multiple was to solve but the game forces you to do it their way. The levels are atrocious and poorly designed. Ive never hated a game so much. And since it took 4 hours of "playing" I cant even get a refund. Hot garbage this game is.
This game is by far one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. Combat is sluggish and floaty- I have no idea why they would do souls like combat but then have you get locked in an animation. Makes absolutely no sense. The puzzles are horrible- they are not intuitive at all. The game tries to pigeonhole you into solving problems with only one solution when you can clearly see there are multiple ways to do it- they put up invisible walls in order to stop you from being imaginative. The visuals, graphics, and story are pretty good but the gameplay is atrocious. 3/10
not even 20h Storyline. Bugs everywhere. No Details at all. Combat modus is okay. I dont get it why the game is insane hardcore mode at the beginning and lategame is just sillybilly easy tutorial
Its a fun play for sure, but its far from flawless. its VERY janky and buggy. story is good, very likeable character, probably my favorite cast in the SW universe. definetly worth playing, but dont buy full price.
A bit buggy if you have a bad computer bit still a great game
It is really fun, and you really get into it. I found it challenging but really interesting. The plot is really good. However, I would say that there could've been a better explanation for certain characters and cut scenes. Even having watched a lot of the Star Wars films, I wasn't entirely sure of the characters and all, and I kind of got confused with when this was supposed to take place, whether it was before New Hope or after The Return of the Sith.
Even though i say this, there isn't much need for context and backstories as most of the time you're just fighting Stormtroopers and creatures. i would highly recommend this to be honest.
Jedi: Fallen Order is a very good metroidvania. It tells a good star wars story and the combat is difficult but fair. My only gripe with the game is the final boss - the difficulty spike in that fight is just ridiculous and I personally turned down the difficulty level for that fight alone. But other than that it's a worthwile experience. PC performance is also fine.
Let me preface this by ensuring you I’m a long time Star Wars fan, so really I would very much love a decent Star Wars game. Unfortunately this game sucks, it makes no sense and it is annoying. It was developed by checkist and it plays like a checklist. It looks great, though.
Is this a good game game, i.e. regardless of Star Wars?
No. The gameplay is lame, tedious and repetitive. The game loves nothing more than to take control away from the player for no reason. Want to open a crate (of which there are many)? Have fun watching an unskippable 5 second cutscene. Want to save? Only possible at fixed locations at which you have to press a button, watch an animation and press another button to return to the game. I’m not kidding. My guys. I’m an adult with a life. I have no time to reach your stupid checkpoints. Let me fucking quicksave or at least save upon exiting the game. I know the technology is there because when you fall off a ledge the game has no problem respawning you where you were and accurately resetting everything including currently playing dialogue. The control scheme is extremely weird and cumbersome. For whatever reason there are three different buttons, one of which is a stick-press, for what essentially amounts to “use” or “interact”. Just have one button!!! Didn’t anyone playtest this? Granted, this may be a skill issue, but I’ve found the combat annoying as well. It’s unreasonably awkward to hit anything with force push or lightsaber throw, because for some reason it goes in the direction the pumuckl-ass protagonist is facing, not the camera. I know you can manually lock on to enemies, but our boy should really be able to pick someone to attack himself, like in Assassin’s Creed or something, instead of blindly attacking the air. During combat, again, the game really loves taking away control from the player because you constantly get pushed or grabbed or whatever. You may be able to avoid this if you try, but it’s just more breakage in the already non-existing flow of gameplay. The platforming is similarly annoying. All the time you’re missing jumps you can clearly make, the camera doesn’t show where you’re going well, and so forth. The level design itself is also bad, disorienting and arbitrary. It should feel rewarding to find hidden stuff, instead you’re just annoyed to have taken a useless detour.
Is this a good Star Wars game, i.e. can we overlook its flaws for love of the setting and story?
No. The story is pointless and nonsensical, the characters are bland and undeveloped, the game has no heart whatsoever. The best bit about it is the tutorial level on the trash planet. It’s cool to see clone wars era trash and empire era trash juxtaposed. Otherwise the planets are derivative and barren. All maps consist almost entirely of platforms divided by infinite abysses. Several times the empire finds out you’re on the planet, sends stormtroopers after you, but for some reason completely leaves your ship (which is sitting on a silver platter landing pad in plain sight with open doors) and crew members (who invariably stay on the ship) alone. After fighting your way toward the ship, you board it through the open door and everyone just is like “Okay cool, where to next?”. The whole time they were just chilling there, not, for instance, coming to pick you up or anything, even though that modus operandi is established early on, immediately after the tutorial level. Characters have no relationships to each other, just like the weirdly platformy locations everything about them is only there for you, the player. Nothing ever feels like you’re thrust into a living breathing world, a feat that should be SO EASY to accomplish for a Star Wars game, everything is just catering to you. There’s a comedic relief character and a mentor character, both of whom have been travelling together for an extended period of time, just the two of them on a tiny ship, yet there is no indication of any personal relationship between them. He’s the comedic relief guy, she’s the mentor, that’s it. The writing is embarrassing in every way, the dialogues are forced and cringeworthy. I could go on, but let’s just finish with this spoiler: At the end, Darth Vader shows up, immediately kills a powerful non-protagonist force user, makes short work of the player’s sidekick (who later turns out to have miraculously survived) but for absolutely no reason at all toys around with the player protagonist to such an extend that he of course manages to escape unharmed. This is Darth Vader we’re talking about. Sad and ridiculous.
Listen to the new Half Life 2 commentary mode to understand all the passion, heart, attention to detail, humility and pride in one’s work that could have made Jedi Something Something a good game. Unfortunately it was presumably designed by some useless seat warmers and handed to devs who are brilliant at their jobs but too powerless and underfunded to create greatness.
Good Story, good graphics, really enjoyed the game :)
An absolute incredible Star Wars experience like no other game has ever done! Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gives you everything you expect from a great game focused around the Star Wars lore.
A cinematic journey, awesome combat, a vast variety of enemies, and so many secrets and Easter eggs hidden off the beaten path. The game has rich and beautiful worlds and level environments that are so rewarding for and satisfying for exploration and discovery. An absolute modern masterpiece and huge accomplishment for Star Wars games.
Every gamer, whether they're a Star Wars fan or Souls fans, this game is an absolute blast from start to finish and an unforgettable journey in a galaxy far far away!
The game is good, but there's quite a few things that prevent it from being great. If you like constant backtracking and puzzles that make no sense, while also having a super simple solution, this game is for you. The problem is that tons of area's are locked on different planets, and you have to play several hours of the game in order to get a skill to go back and unlock the areas.... without a fast travel system.. So you end up going through the same areas like 10 times, and its straight up boring, because then you have to run all the way back to your ship, and then come back to the same planet again like 3 hours later as you gain another skill. The game has the same gameplay loop, fight 5 enemies, go through a crack in the wall, climb up a vine, and that's pretty much it.
Downloaded the game to have a fun offline single-player game to have fun with...
You cannot play offline.
You're forced to be online for the EA client bullshit.
For those on limited internet availability , keep this in mind. you must connect to the internet every single time.
so much for this, was actually enjoying playing this game.
Its a Star Wars souls-like, its what you'd expect given that. The game satisfies everything it needs to, building your own lightsaber is cool, editing the appearances of Cal, BD-1 and the Mantis are all cool features. I will say, running this game with a GeForce 1050ti was a little laggy at times, so be more prepared than I lol
As Star Wars video game experiences go, this is one of the best. The way you can interact with the world, either with your lightsaber or using the force just makes you feel like an actual jedi. The storytelling and coming together of beloved characters/moments from the original saga is also quite nice.
This is the whole Order 66 survivor experience!
Got it like for 6€. Good game for that price. For full price it lacks replay-ability content... So most likely one run game...
Backtracking of hell, very linear gameplay and the open world exploring doesn’t reward you in any way. After 14 hrs i can safely say this is one of the most annoying games I’ve played.
The EA App is the worst thing I have every had the displeasure of touching. This horrendous creation makes launching the game a nightmare as it doesn't work half the time. Additionally, do you like how your in-game notifications are set up in Steam? Well TOO BAD, this app COMPLETELY IGNORES THEM and doesn't have half as many options! Don't want achievement popups in the middle of playing a game? Screw you, you can't turn them off! Wanna disable in EA overlay? NOPE! Not allowed unless you launched the game from EA App, which you can't do because you bought this on Steam.
EA has literally made this game unplayable for me. I CANNOT play games with popups, it drives me F***ING insane and I just stop playing altogether. I would rather not play the game at all than have these stupid popups I can't turn off. F you EA, you are garbage cesspool that is ruining gaming, AND I KNOW YOU DO NOT CARE
Don't get me wrong, on 80% sale it's a decent value. But I can't leave a positive review.
The game feels unfinished due to a quite obvious general lack of polish, sometimes making it difficult to say if something is a bug or was just never worked on properly in the first place. Thankfully the bugs are minor, and few affect gameplay, but the issues present stand out and make an otherwise beautiful game with solid gameplay and interesting story feel unfinished. All things considered I would expect far more polish, especially since the issues are present 5 years after release.
Some of the things that annoyed me enough to remember and bother to write about
- Some objects and parts of the environment have no collision when they obviously should
- Toxic sludge that you can fall into and die but with no physics or splash animation whatsoever
- Oddly intrusive invisible walls in some areas
- Chest opening animation underwater is the same as on land (Can't easily explain why that is weird but it 100% is)
- Opened chests counting as opened after death but not after relaunching the game
- One specific tomb guardian (strong enemy) being unresponsive until provoked for no apparent reason
- Clearly scripted events involving (enemy) NPCs doing very specific things, clearly meant as eye-catching one-time actions/encounters (eating corpse, running to specific location, etc.) Every single time you walk through their location after in any way making enemies re-spawn. To be clear: This is the case when encountering the thing, progressing and saving, making enemies re-spawn and returning to the same place. This is not backtracking btw, this is organically going through the same place a couple of times and when seeing the same enemy do the same scripted thing for the 7th time in a session I can't help but wonder why nobody bothered to make it not do that.
- Related to the previous one. Let me give an example that happens more than once in different ways. When going to a place and doing a mission the only way is through enemies of different "factions" fighting each other, a memorable, scripted scene. You are also required to take the same route back, through the exact same enemies, fighting each other in the exact same way (as it seems to be quite scripted)... This happens in more than one place and can happen as often as you return to that place as far as I can tell (like the previous point). How does that even remotely make sense?
None of this is game breaking, and in fairness to the game it is a decent game at its core. But it just feels kind of like a beta, and that's a real shame because the potential for a 9/10 game is clearly there. But instead I have to do this to it.
TLDR
- Great, challenging combat
- Decent story
[*]Lacks polish
6/10 -Get it on sale
this game runs at 144+ FPS just fine on my system at 1080p upscaled to 1440p (AMD RX 6600 using AMD upscaling and fluid motion frames gives nearly 4K level graphics and perfectly smooth gameplay). Cutscenes get ~180 FPS and the graphics are just as beautiful as Black Myth Wukong. Played the game a couple times on Xbox, and on PC I plan on playing through the whole story likely on Jedi Grand Master.
Meh. At least it's pretty. Which is about all that can be said for this mediocrity. The game suffers from terminal consolitis. Be prepared to watch the same animation sequences hundreds of time...this is Cal walking through a tight space...here's Cal slowly climbing up a cliff...here's Cal swinging from a rope...watch as Cal watches his droid jump into a "treasure" chest... oh, did you die? Lets watch it all again! The Pros: -It's pretty. Very pretty. -The voice acting is not bad at all. (But the script needs work.) -Cute droid. The Cons: -Combat. Challenging sword combat has been done well in the past (see Witcher 3 for example.) But this is just...clumsy. And repetitive. And annoying. -The story is...a big trite MacGuffin. You will not care about the characters. You will yawn at the ending. -Repetitive, mindless **** mindless and repetitive. (But pretty. For the first hour.) -24 hours for a near-completionist first play-through on Jedi Master difficulty is above-average length for an EA snooze fest, but is otherwise pretty pathetic in terms of content. Especially since at least half of that 24 hours was devoted to watching my screen re-load and watching Cal do the same run and jump sequence over and over again. Second play-through? Not likely. Bottom line: buy it on sale and don't expect much. By no means should you blow $80 on it.
Jogo incrível! Ótima história, gameplay e sem sombra de dúvidas uma experiência única. Um dos melhores jogos de Star Wars que eu já joguei.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order : By Triple F
"Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order," developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, was released in 2019 to widespread acclaim, breathing new life into the single-player "Star Wars" gaming experience. Set shortly after the events of "Revenge of the Sith," the game follows Cal Kestis, a young Jedi Padawan who survived the brutal Order 66 purge and is hiding from the Empire. As he embarks on a journey to rebuild the Jedi Order, the game delivers a compelling story-driven experience that combines satisfying combat mechanics with exploration-focused gameplay. With its layered narrative, challenging combat, and richly detailed world, "Fallen Order" delivers a truly memorable "Star Wars" adventure.
The story of "Fallen Order" is one of its standout features. Cal's journey feels both intimate and epic as he grapples with survivor’s guilt, the haunting memories of Order 66, and the challenge of surviving in a galaxy hostile to Jedi. Accompanied by a cast of interesting characters such as Cere, a former Jedi who has her own painful past, and BD-1, Cal's loyal droid companion, the narrative explores themes of loss, resilience, and redemption. BD-1, in particular, is a fan favorite, providing companionship and functionality that enhance gameplay, as well as injecting moments of levity and charm into the story. The story’s pacing and emotional depth make it engaging, while the cinematic presentation and quality voice acting elevate it to feel like a natural extension of the "Star Wars" universe.
Gameplay-wise, "Fallen Order" takes inspiration from several well-known game genres, blending elements from Metroidvania exploration and "Souls-like" combat. Combat is methodical and requires a level of patience and strategy, encouraging players to time attacks, parries, and dodges rather than rushing into battles. The lightsaber combat feels visceral, with each swing, block, and deflection carrying weight and impact. As Cal progresses, he learns new Force abilities and gains skill points that unlock further combat techniques, expanding the range of moves at the player's disposal. This system balances challenge and progression well, providing a sense of accomplishment as players master the nuanced combat mechanics.
Exploration is central to "Fallen Order," with its interconnected planetary worlds that encourage players to backtrack as they gain new abilities. Planets like Zeffo, Kashyyyk, and Dathomir offer distinct landscapes and challenges, each hiding secrets and lore that flesh out the galaxy. The game’s level design emphasizes environmental puzzle-solving, such as using Force powers to clear paths or maneuvering through complex platforming sections. The Metroidvania-style progression gives players a reason to revisit planets, uncovering new areas and items with newly acquired skills. This design choice adds layers of discovery and adventure, though it can occasionally become repetitive as players navigate large maps.
The visual presentation of "Fallen Order" is exceptional, capturing the grit and beauty of the "Star Wars" universe with great fidelity. The planets are brought to life with attention to environmental details, from the misty forests of Kashyyyk to the eerie, dark caverns of Dathomir. Respawn's commitment to crafting a visually authentic experience is evident, and the game’s stunning landscapes and realistic character models enhance immersion. The audio design deserves praise as well, utilizing John Williams-inspired scores, iconic "Star Wars" sound effects, and ambient sounds that breathe life into each environment. The game's visuals and sound work together to create a cinematic quality that is deeply engaging.
While "Fallen Order" is ambitious and largely successful, it isn’t without its technical flaws. Players often report issues like frame drops, occasional texture pop-ins, and bugs that can momentarily break immersion. Additionally, the game's platforming segments, while generally enjoyable, sometimes suffer from imprecise mechanics, leading to frustrating missteps and repeated attempts. These technical setbacks are generally minor, but they can be noticeable enough to impact the overall polish of the experience. Fortunately, many of these issues were addressed in post-launch updates, improving the game’s performance.
One of the game’s greatest strengths is how it strikes a balance between respecting "Star Wars" canon while also innovating within the universe. "Fallen Order" doesn’t rely heavily on fan service but instead introduces original characters and fresh perspectives that enrich the broader lore. Cal Kestis, Cere, and BD-1 quickly became memorable additions to the franchise, and the game’s handling of dark themes, such as the trauma of the Jedi purge, adds emotional weight that resonates deeply with fans. The storyline respectfully expands the "Star Wars" mythos, and the character-driven narrative grounds it with relatable themes.
In summary, "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" is an exceptional single-player experience that appeals to both longtime "Star Wars" fans and newcomers. Its mix of challenging combat, exploration, and engaging storytelling sets a high standard for future "Star Wars" games. Although it has a few technical flaws, the game’s strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, making it a must-play for those looking to experience a deeply personal journey set against the backdrop of the galaxy far, far away. "Fallen Order" proves that "Star Wars" can shine as a single-player adventure, delivering an immersive experience that leaves a lasting impact.
Dark Souls + Star Wars Empire era is a lit combo. This was a breath of fresh air for Star Wars games.
So, three hours in and there's some garbage gameplay. Hitboxes are wonky and combat feels pretty meh. I'm basically just playing because it's Star Wars and it was 80% off. I took time out of playing it to tell other people maybe don't though,
Oh, and your character runs like they pooped their pants. I honestly think this is worse than dying to attacks that don't hit you. It is my canon explanation for why "dodging" doesn't clear attacks though
