Nice business simulation. Have already played the old ones, the new one plays differently but is still a good Tycoon game.
Even after 2 weeks, no advanced products, bugs where you can't delete transportation lines...it's as though they never played IG1 or 2 and just winged it. Disappointed and wondering why they even bothered. What a waste of everyone's time.
Highly not recommended
1.Very stupid transport route design feature,no parallel lines,no railroad switches,No signal light
2.The industrial placement system is more retarded
3.Inexplicable transit time Settings, can trains become high-speed trains?
4.Complexity for the sake of complexity
5.There are more pop-ups on the screen than there are ads for my phone
6.What is the meaning of the average seasonal production setting, will the wood freeze to death?
7.Pointless zoning. Are you environmentalists?
8.This game doesn't balance numbers at all, it's going to break in production, so tell me how long is the shelf life? How to estimate redundancy output?
9.Railway transport system design is completely amateurish
10.windows 98-like modeling
11.How dare you sell it for so much?
It's a version of Fever Transport but it's really bad, I regret spending my money on this game. I've always been a fan of Giant Industry. But this game is not worth it, honestly. I feel sorry for the creators, but they should honestly create demos so we can try the games before buying them, the video game industry is taking us users for a ride.
Refund requested and denied because i was not able to request it straight away due to other commitments, if you're expecting Transport Fever or Workers and Resources then this is not that, in fact unless you're brand new to the genre then you will likely be very disappointed, Industry giant 2 was leaps and bounds better to play, the map sizes are tiny, the assets, factories etc are huge and the scale just feels all wrong, i understand this game is early access but i just cant see what they were aiming for, other games so many other games to choose, at the moment for me, this just is not deserving of the title of its predecessor, its way off the mark, maybe i over estimated, im stuck with it now, ill check on it next year perhaps
I am an old school IG2 player ( bought on release! ) and this is exactly how i would expect IG to evolve, you guys are doing a great job so far and i can see the bones of the game is really good, i look forward to watching it grow.
But please open it up to modding if possible it will propel the game far
funny game to play
Still needs some content but solid for early access
It is not Industry Giant.
They try to foster the feeling of IG, but they dont achieve it, here is why:
The overall athmosphere is ok. Sound design is well made.
Graphics good.
But.. it is this kind of "made easier instead of focussing on its core gameplay".
It is a management game. When you take out the micromanagement from of the game you basically strip it from its core loop.
The "new feature, of automatic adjusted transport lines", in the matter of number of vehicles assigned to a transport line, seems an interesting choice at the beginning, but it removes an essential part of the gameplay - managing the transport efficiently. Not only adds it more intransparency, but the trucks always bug in addition, not leaviung the depot. With trains it is even more problematic, during the tutorial I couldnt manage to have a constant stream of lumber, since the trains would leave the depot; all connected and waiting goods.
Loosing that level of control and management, in contrast to previous IG, it makes the game feel shallow, washed out of part its core gameplay.
How to remove trucks anyway? Bought once never get rid of them again?
They should improve the UX, like faster access to the transport lines, like clicking though the transport lines with arrow keys, and sorting them correctly 1, 2, 3, ...11, 12, 13, 14.. instead of 1, 11, 12..., 2,21, 23, .... the organizations and transparency would be better. Also, that new windows always pop in th ecenter of view is annoying. Wehen I create a new transport line ALWAYS I have to move the popup aside, since I need the view on the map to perform the setup action.
Adding ressouce production field, like fields for farms or oil fields should autoallign or snap to each other, currently it takes looong to have some somwhat clean placed.
I have also some issues with the UX design language. E.G. a grey button for adding stops to a transport line? that doesnt feel right.
IG4 is an attempt to "improve" IG2 but ends up derailing the original game by disgraceful terrain that makes roads and rail construction ugly, by making production and product delivery more complicated than necessary What a bomb. This early version really needs help.
It's enjoyable enough if you like to play Early Access games like this. It has enough to play, but also has enough to develop into the future. Probably needs a but of a UX pass on setting up and managing lines - for example, it feels like the lines are disconnected from production because you have to change the delivery values of both (or all if it is a multi step chain). You also don't have the ability to see cumulative production or demand, so you will find yourself forever clicking around and adding up values and checking if you have balanced them. The demand also changes rapidly too; in fact, this is half of the game play and pretty much makes this "calculator tycoon". But, that said, the game looks good, pays well, does what it should at this stage of development and shows promise. It just about gets a thumbs up from me.
Something like Transport Fever 2 is more refined and simpler, but then that is a transport game, this is an industry production game. There's a difference.
There are things the Devs are currently working on and i think the game play and objective of the game out ways the "bugs". After some time learning the game and for the price its 100% worth it.
Some good points are:
I enjoy the grind. You need 3 buildings to make some resources but i love how its not easy, it means there's always an objective in supplying the towns. As the town grows it wants more and extra items. At the beginning money can be slow but just use the Harbour and Airport for extra cash, don't limit your production just sell it.
Tips:
Traffic is a massive thing if you don't plan your roads and space your buildings out. Don't have a building connected to a main route, it will 100% get clogged later on.
I currently have around 650-800 trucks from 4 Depots with 150-200 each. After they finish a task they all head back.
Only collect what the town needs and only supply what it needs unless you're going to sell it. Stops over producing warnings and makes sure there's actually something to pick up.
When you create a Production/Resource it doesn't give the max amount so 1000 is actually 1500 is you just type 9999 it will show the max per year, also you get more when you dont split the year into quarters.
Bad points i've found so far:
Recently the game will randomly close. Once youre far into the game with a lot going on it just stops. Ive turned my graphic from Epic down to medium to try stabilise it but every 10 minutes closes.
The town wants 11k food but the Medium Groceries store can only hold max 1600? I don't know if we unlock bigger but i haven't yet and need the storage now.
Theres no way to alter routes such as 1 way or traffic lights to stop congestion.
Game has started to crash real bad as i progress and require more into the towns and it took 7 minutes to load.
Im now running on 20fps and need to run the game with the hidden HUD.
You have to place a building down first before you can see what it needs to produce. So ive had to save it and keep loading to find out. Ive been told below comment this has since been improved.
The bulldozer is the worst. I have a full map of train tracks and roads and i have to click 1 by 1 by 1 a single piece at a time so i can change the layout.
Overall since making new maps and learning the games mechanics I'm now flying. near £150 million in the bank and learnt to spread everything out so no traffic. Im concerned about the frames the more trucks i need and the save/load wait times as it grows but worth the buy IMO
hate it already this zone rubbish needs to go
not building stations is just stupid
the welcome thing wont got away its annoying
think i can list alot more i dont like its nothing close to ig2 which was fantastic
i now get why i hate it so much its almost a rip off of transport fever its almost the same front end
its a good start.
Needs bigger maps and cities to demand more variety of goods. You need to fulfil the city demands for it to grow and it needs to grow before it begins demanding other more interesting and complex products. It is tedious to always have to begin with agriculture to get things going when I want to be a dirty industrialist, not a farmer.
That said its already worth a try and I'm glad to have supported the devs in early access.
Was looking forward to this. And after about 8 hours, all it made me do is reinstall Transport Fever 2 and i've been stuck on that since. It made me appreciate all the things that Industry Giant does wrong. Cities feel dead outside of your transport vehicles (where are the people buying all these products?? traffic? just life in general) and then theres a very little reward for doing things right. Vehicles are all barebones. I thought the delays wouldve improved the replayability of this game. All it did is make me realize i had an itch i needed to scratch with management sims and now im fulfilling it elsewhere with little desire to play this anymore.
But hey got my $20 so you win in the end. LMAO
I think my thoughts on this align with what the other reviewers are saying, there's no game here. I find the whole game to be particularly boring as there's nothing to aspire to or progress toward and seems to be missing the essence of what the previous games were loved for. I also found that the tutorial cannot be completed as it expects you to do something specific rather than progress based on the success condition of the action (i.e. the fact you're moving resource between places as opposed to checking to see whether you've connected everything together, which can be done in multiple ways and may have already been completed in previous steps). I myself set up my industries in a particular way using a single rail connection to connect everything together but the game seemed to be wanting me to have multiple rail connections with more direct routes and therefore would not move forward on that basis. I also find many things to be clunky like the delete tool which forces you to delete a track or road section by section rather than giving you an option to delete the entire track/road. I do feel that there's promise under the hood though and I think, given some further time and work from the developers, this could turn into something as great as the former games. I'll be following with great interest as it moves forward.
As I understand, stores covers all costs, so, keep eyes on whole process.
Let's see where this game ends but it's promising.
It is just an EA, sure... but it is lacking so much.
No compare to the legend of Industry Giant Gold Edition or any of the ones before.
There is just no way to make UIG or any Joowood published games better.. even after so many years.
Nice try though.. hope that you will fix it all.. like adjust price at stores.. blanace the game.. fix bugs.. fix graphic... just fix it..
TLTR: Go buy Industry Giant 2 - Gold edition instead and play that. Much more refined.
It's difficult to recommend a game that regularly crashes to desktop. I get that this is early access and that devs can't test on every permutation of machine, but yeesh. I can play games with vastly more demanding resource requirements without problem, but Industry Giant 4 will CTD five to fifteen minutes into the game. Neat.
With the game instability aside, during the few minutes between crashes that I can play, I'm sufficiently annoyed by the clunky UI, the absence of snapping (I'd like my farms/logging camps/whatever to snap together neatly), and other little twiddly things that I don't *want* to play.
I'll give the devs a chance to patch the game extensively and come back to this review.
Currently, don't touch it! This is more of a tech demo than a game. It needs at least another year or more of work and adjustments to the game mechanics and technology. Compared to IndustryGiant2, it's even a step backwards in terms of some of the mechanics. No idea who came up with this, but it wouldn't hurt to look outside the box at representatives of the genre...
- maps far too small
- hardly any vehicle selection
- no production statistics (input/consumption) wtf!?
- techtree hidden behind paywall!
- technology from the 90s!
- awkward laying of roads and tracks
- transport to and from industries cannot be selected, but is predetermined?!
- construction limit for production
- construction limit for cities
- zones for individual areas and companies, thus artificially limiting the expansion options
- technically inadequate
- hardly any setting options
- graphics from 10 years ago
- textures don't fit and are washed out
I don't understand the transport mechanic, nor why placing buildings takes a giant flat square out of the map. That, and the map is incredibly small compared to the build size. it's just...not fun. And if you like clean setups, it's irritating. The UI feels clunky and the placement of selections feel weird. This is all in addition to the HORRIBLE FPS. The constant choppy lag despite having a sweet setup is the absolute worst. It makes it unplayable. This is not ready for release. They need more honest feedback from beta players.
The game crashes about once every 10 minutes, controls and lines are not intuative and the maps/cities are very limited. However the game looks awesome (If it works). I'm in love with the demand system. This game feels like a crossover between Rise of Industry and Transport fever 2.
Basicly the game feels faaar to early to be open acces, I'll revisit it later
At this price point it's an ok buy. The game looks very nice and is fun, but is fairly simplistic.
Also there are some questionable design choices, especially the ginormous size of industries compared to the the scaled down geography. This makes every facility chop deep into the terrain which looks ridiculous but also results in possible issues with road and train connections.
Ideally the facilities would just be smaller, or have some modularity so they can follow the terrain features.
And I'm not sure I'm a fan of the zoning system, seems like a cheap mechanic to create an artifical challenge.
ok, concept is nice reminds me of transport fever, but needs a lot of improvements. why do trucks only carry up to 200 units? the map is full of trucks and why trucks have to return to the depot? if there's a storedege in one of the plants trucks should work all the time to meet demand.
Refunded it, the region system feels weird, i can only build 2 farms in a farming region, the ui is cluttered and feels unintuitive. Maps feel quite small and claustrophobic
I am a sucker for industry games, but i should really stop buying games that basically do the EXACT same thing but much worse as other games i already own..... (InfraSpace, Anno 1800, Soviet Republic, to a name a few)
The game in its current state more of the alpha than something you can play and enjoy. Plenty of bugs and core systems are not working well. I can recommend Captain of Industry to scratch the itch while you are waiting for this one to reach its playable state (I would say at least 1 year is needed).
1. Localization is bad, and by localization I mean English version. Devs don't play test it in English, neither is QA. Some labels are incorrect, tutorial is misleading etc. (btw you need to follow tutorial step by step they didn't bother with proper state checking, placing building B ahead of A would not fly)
2. No proper map grid and/or snapping. Probably the worst UX in any building game I've ever played and I played a lot. Buildings are bulky and annoying to place, Game has no planning mode or move tool. You placed bunch of factories but can't connect a road because turn is too sharp. Or your buildings are colliding by 1 pixel with each other? Too bad, now you need to delete them all at 50% money loss. Also all streets and factories are unaligned due to this, rip if you like neat building placement and triggered by a spaghetti connections.
3. Building are huge, map is small, 3d landscape is not to scale. Factory size is around the same as whole town. Feels claustrophobic
4. Stats and graphics are bare-bone and lying. You can have fully supplied city and on the city screen it will display 60-70% of needs covered but in town statistic it will be 100%. Building's needs will display 80% of satisfaction on click but on colored map overlay it will be colored as 20% etc. It such a mess. The management games are effectively Excel the gaming and they completely fumbled the most core part of the game - coherent and clear data display.
5. Most of the basic operations take way too many clicks to complete. I would not dare to play it at scale, fixing logistic would be like playing cookie clicker.
6. Speaking of logistic, they need to rework it completely. Instead of normal person route where you assign a transport to deliver a goods from A to B they ask you for an amount of goods to transport per year. Game will auto-reserve trucks to fulfill the order and line will stop upon completion. Any change in demand supply or routes with force you to update this numbers. Back to clicking I guess.
Performance is fine, but I didn't run it into the late game.
In a game about production lines, transport logistics etc. The devs said that they didn't want to go into too much detail with regards to train lines and are going to leave it to modders to add that stuff in. To me this is a deal breaker, its a simulation game and fidelity is crucial for these types of games, particularly ones where creating efficient logistical networks is crucial to optimising profits etc. And these features are commonplace in many games like this now too.
Leaving it to mods is lazy and dull in my opinion and its a pattern I've noticed across the games industry lately which I don't like. Go play Rise of Industry instead.
Other points of critique that added up to me refunding this game include;
- Even the largest map still felt very small
- The maps were like a "board" but the edges looked abysmal. With very low-res terrain textures behind the main game.
- Even a teeny tiny incline can make things difficult with placing the smallest shopes
- The game hasn't really heard of right angles with roads
- No terraforming / flattening etc tools to alleviate the pain of these slopes and inclines
The game is laughably bad. There is no chance a human being tried to play this game and said yea its fine go ahead and release it ... It takes so much effort to connect 2 roads that are 10 meters apart .. The game is so bad and nowhere near the gem of the old times , save your money, there are way better game of this kind.
Transport Fever 2

Was expecting great things, but very disappointed. Could not even get through the confusing tutorial. Graphics settings all over the place, small map, terrible UI, confusing line and production creation. requesting refund.
It's a total dissapointment. Some said; graphics are great, even graphics are not reaching Cities Skylines level. Game flow was better in Industry Giant 2 I've played 30-years ago.
Instead of "paid early access"; It should be at least free beta version; game publishers should avoid publishing this kind of not-ready enough games expected for a long time from community.
Sad..
Disappointing to say the least.
Music is reused from Industry Giant 2, save for a few new songs. Great music, just would have expected some new bangers to go with the gameplay.
Maps WAY TOO SMALL!
Buildings are a good scale, but with the small maps they dominate the surrounding environment.
A whopping 3 maps with a 4th listed (IG2 had like 50? 60 maps? And they were all unique with their own challenges)
Overall, it feels like an attempt was made, but its just fallen SO flat. Awaiting refund as I type this.
Looks very promising.
Like:
- It appears that the developers put a lot of effort into looks. Movement of vehicles look good, semi truck turn does look realistic.
- Scenery, the cities look way above the expected level for a tycoon type game.
- Despite its very fresh early access, it seems playable, did not see any blocker bug or performance hog.
- Not sure about the scope of the production chain, but it seems there is already a lot of industry types.
- Reduced early scope of products. Problem with previous IG games was that it was hard to decide what to make, all cities wanted everything... now they start wanting like 3 products for starter. I am not sure how reduced the scope will stay
Needs work
- Logistics is very rudimentary, like it was made for kindergarten children. Trucks/train wagons come with bare trailers, then they pick trailer type depending on cargo (even that is very limited, like grain goes into same type as bread, while grain used to travel in bulk type). Come on... trailers and trucks should bought separately according to cargo, like bulk, box, liquid, flatbed...
- Line control misses basic features like "only drive there when there is cargo to load" or "wait until loaded"
- Cargo capacity is in what? Units? Can I really load the same amount of units from steel and from sawdust to a truck?
- Very-very small maps... like you put a few industries and thats it.
- Very limited transports, like 3 trucks and 1 train (8 wagon and 4 wagon train does not count 2)
- Limitation in track slope... trains cannot climb like 20% grades.
- Since the map is too small, hence the terrain is too uneven due to reduced scale. You cannot plop down a building without it being half embedded into the terrain, so road / track connections may be in the air.
In general, this is very promising. The result depends on the developers attitude. This game is really an early access, very reduced in content and currently with these tiny maps, would not provide too much gameplay. Well, price was set accordingly, so no complains yet, I can wait for this to ripe. There are many types of early acces, those who really do add content in the next years and those who just waned to sell an empty unfinished game skeleton and consider it done. So we will see.
wow - a very nice game with great graphics. I like it when everything is shown in such detail. The game is early access, so I'm looking forward to what's to come. Keep up the good work!
Not for me, I know it's early access, but this feels like a very restricted version of Transport Fever. The map is tiny, and weirdly restricted with these straight edged zones, so you can't build wherever you like. Roads and rails are messy, not possible to build complex rail systems. The terrain height management is awful, you build a building and there are sharp edges all around it. No terrain tools. Maybe I'm missing the point, and it is early access, but if you want to transport resources go to Transport Fever, if you want economic management and resources go to Workers and Resources.
I'm having a fun time with it. Pretty nice economic simulation. It is complicated, and it helps to have played other transport games to get the hang of it. There is a lot of micromanagement of lines, but I find it enjoyable. Looking forward to playing more.
Very confusing, the UI doesn't make a lot of sense when setting up routes and lines. There also isn't a good way to see how well a certain line is doing making storage at either end of the line getting full way too quick. The game is not very well thought out and explained.
Like another review mentioned, the resolution settings are pretty much wonky. I get it's early access, but these are basics. I don't want to play at a forced resolution that doesn't work well for me. Half the configuration settings are grayed out. It's a buggy mess. Also, pay attention to the positive reviews. They recommend, but most of them are pointing out issues and bugs. Probably safe to avoid this game for awhile.
Legend is back ! Couple of updates are needed but still very good start.
Good Tycoon game. Reminds me of the good old days.... Industry Giant 2, Transport Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon 2....
It's Industry Giant in 2024 with modern settings and compatibility for currently launch price of £15.99.
Is it going to blow your mind? most likely not. Does exactly what it says in the about section on the store page for a really good price.
If you want a game that involves cities that grow with supply/demand elements that you provide for with various industries and logistics then the game is good.
This game suffers from an unintuitive and clunky UI, but I will say this - the core mechanics are working and addictive as hell! I just barely finished the tutorial but I want to continue playing for hours on this small map. I can't even imagine how much there is to do on the larger maps! Obviously it's still early days for this game and we need to see massive improvements to the UI but the foundation for something epic is already here to enjoy - and the price is a steal!
I experienced a few bugs related to resolution and graphics settings and some flickering (could not click things in 4k resolution, had to go to game default which was a wider resolution than my montor) and also trying to set the resolution or graphics settings didnt work for me either, but once i got things working it seems like a fun and indepth management sim where it needs to be, while keeping other thngs like roads and rail layouts very simple. def fun! if you like transport fever 2 but want something new you will like this.
Great, simple business game - a surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable experience in the early stages when your business is small and manageable. The difficulty ramps up subtly and engagingly as your business grows and time progresses, keeping things fresh and challenging. The visuals shine in many areas, such as the beautiful seasonal cycles and distant landscapes, though some elements do feel a bit lackluster such as the lack of pedestrians populating the cities and some of the soulless designs of the farms and factories (e.g. barely any animations of them producing goods or showing goods in storage ready for transport); improving these could elevate the game's overall polish.
The variety of industries available to manage is impressive and adds depth to the gameplay. The largest maps are a highlight, offering the most immersive and rewarding experience, and I’m excited to see even more of these added during Early Access. It’s worth noting that while the tutorial map is intentionally small to teach the basics, it’s only about an eighth of the size of the largest playable maps. So, concerns about limited map size often stem from only seeing the tutorial online and don’t reflect the true scale available in the game that it has to offer. I do agree though that more maps should be added sooner rather than later to prevent the experience from getting stale, but this is in Early Access so I'm sure they'll be making more soon and/or getting map modding out.
That said, the UI could benefit from refinement. Setting up lines feels a bit cumbersome at times, and adding more intuitive controls and auditory feedback such as sound effects when clicking on certain buttons or finalising a line would make interactions smoother and more satisfying. I’m eagerly looking forward to the promised improvements and future features during its time in Early Access, like multiplayer and additional gameplay mechanics, which have the potential to make this game even better.
NOTE: If anyone reading this played the unstable demo from a month ago, from my experience, I haven't witnessed a single crash at all this time. It now plays quite smoothly, so they have definitely delivered on that with this release which I was afraid for. Give it another try - at around £16 it's currently a bargain.
The game is good. I also played the demo and liked it. It's different from the previous Industry Giant titles but personally I also like the fourth part of the series. Positive: A tycoon game with industries again. :-)
Ok so i have been looking forward to this game for a long time.
I have to say I was extremely upset I even wasted the money on it . I did get a refund thank goodness .
First off the graphics are great for the game , the zoom level , the detail , all that is great . Now the game play and maps are the let down . First off you can't even change any settings for the map , nor can you let it generate a map . So we are stuck with these maps that are small as heck except for 1 of them , so that means you only play on 1 map and that is it due to the size of the buildings and so on . With this being said I think the over all game maps are the key thing that will be the end of the game for me and many others . When the buildings are so huge and the map is small then you have no choice but to cram things into a tight area and place rails and roads down that just make it odd looking .
If the game had a map generator then this game would be great but I would not suggest buying this game as it is now even with the sale .

If you are into economy simulation games, this one is for you.
It has a huge variety of managing shops, production, logistics and vehicles. Also nice visual design and a very smooth and dynamic way to create on connect streets and production lines. Also they just released a roadmap, multiplayer and also transports via ships will be coming into the game, totally can recommend this one.
