Hunker down at your London flat at 221b Baker St. The year is 1896, and Scotland Yard has called Sherlock Holmes with an urgent request for help. A young painter has been found murdered and rolled up in a remarkable Persian carpet. Horrible puzzles. The pipe puzzle is unsolvable and must be skipped. The game is a pixel hunt. Not even worth the 99 cents.
I didn't read the comments much, but did anyone notice that this game's all locations/puzzle locations/puzzles are COMPLETELY IDENTICAL to the previous game Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring!! Anyways, the game is a complete disaster. I usually like hidden object games but this one is just unplayable. Well it's about £1 on a discount so whatever, to tick a box for all Sherlock games.

The hunt for the hidden pixel was right, this mostly sucks because you can't see anything
Old game, but still fun to play!
Game is pretty much hog but due to small screen size in 1920x1080 hunting objects goes pixel hunting and other puzzle mechanics are also hit and miss. It comes frustrating rather quickly. Game is one those that would have been good if it have been done with care. After 3 hours I called quits. Discount game from early 2000's I give 6
WOW this game is NOT good. I know it's old but WOW. Finding the hidden objects is incredibly difficult when the objects are TINY and put in places where they practically BLEND INTO THE BACKGROUND. The absolute worse offenders of this is having to find strands of hair or shoe prints or ashes in dark areas or areas with a lot of details. Most of my time searching was squinting and rapidly clicking around and praying to God. The story is simple but unrewarding and gets complicated near the end, and not in a "woah that's genius!" kind of way. Finishing the game was unsatisfying as it just leaves you in Holme's office after you finish all the dialogue. Only worth playing if you just want to get it out of your way for completionist's sake like if you got it in the sale bundle. You will despise Humoresque (Op. 101, No. 7) by Antonin Dvořák by the end of your playthrough.

Not fun. Find hidden objects where the objects are a piece of dust in a dusty attic or a spatter of blood in a mountain of theatre props or just a fucking shoe print in a garden. Also there are minigames/puzzles… they suck.
Also, wow the price of this game! I got it in a bundle during a sale, so it’s not that bad. But otherwise the price would be absolutely outrageous.
Although the gameplay is short, the game is fun to play and the puzzle is challenging also. Some of the scene looks familiar and brings back some memories because they are reused materials from The Silver Earring. The game is in 3x4, it is too small for object searching, some of the objects is tiny (hair, nail, coin, pearls) and even covered underneath other objects.
The structure, and the accompanied difficulty of the given sections, of this game is kinda weird, as is often the case with (Mostly Triple-A) video games after 2000, this game can not be simply placed in just one genre.
But for the sake of simplicity and overall function, the game occupies two genres,
where the first would be the genre of "Hidden Object" and the second is "puzzle" (obviously these two are not entirely separate from another).
The main puzzles, which are replayable via the table placed in Sherlocks office, can be quite tricky, but everything concerning solving the case, which includes Finding evidence (on Suspects, witnesses and in locations), Analysing and extrapolating information from Objects (via Microscope and such) and deducing correlations relevant for solving the case, cannot be failed (even on the highest difficulty, at least while the separate Time-Limit option is turned off).
That leaves a rather contradicting impression, where you are being railroaded to the solution without your input really mattering, as there are no decisions to be made (at least none, that can not be immediately reversed), and then there are the puzzles, that granted could be brute forced, but that would be (at least mostly) highly inadvisable.
