One of the best close-to-realistic Cold War RTS games out there, unlike a certain game made in france. Wish this had multiplayer though.
Not so much. No air unit except special powers. Which is sad. And infantry dies quickly even if it is in a def pos but enemy inf is tanky. Hate this shit.

Very great, plays just like World in conflict and has similarities with Wargame/Warno.
Realistic and tactical enough where the equipment and vehicle selection matter, but streamlined and gamey enough to not feel like a complete milsim game. It's like somebody took Warno/Wargame and made a version of it for casual gamers. Seen this on sale and if you're a fan of RTS it's definitely worth the buy. Kind of makes me think of Tom Clancy's EndWar or World in Conflict, fast paced and fun.
Only just started, but it seems really good. Much less micromanagement than WarNo
Fun, not terribly expensive game. Not as complicated as the fairly similar games out of Eugen Systems, but with a better single player experience. Has a decent amount of replayability, definitely helped by the free updates that come with the DLC releases.

Combat is boring and very weak. There is no tactical aspect at all. You download your units onto the battlefield and just bum rush at locations, The clock timer prevents having much battle planning. Clock really needs a disable option.
Great game. Reminds me of when my mother would shit in a tube sock, put it in the freezer, then beat me with it while I slept....for fun and games.

Good, fun RTS with a decent amount of depth and strategy. The time limit is quite nice - means I can actually limit myself to one or two phases a night, instead of over-playing it until dawn and losing interest.
Game rules. Totally worth the price. Dunno what else to say. Well made + Microprose so get it while you got it. good.
This game is a lot of fun and very straightforward. There are characteristics of the units you'll have to remember like placement/proximity of supply units but it's not overwhelming. I'm not typically a player of more modern types strategy warfare games. Typically I play more WW1 and WW2 era strategy so this was a great introduction, and as I said previously, a lot of fun. This game led me to also try Warno which I quite like as well.
If you enjoy RTS strategy games, particularly SD II or CoH you will find something good about Regiments. What it does well, and better than the aforementioned games, is give a strategic overview and command in real time. SD II and CoH both keep command at the squad and individual vehicle level, meaning commanding large groups sometimes turns into a massive chore of micromanagement. Some find this engaging whilst I prefer not to micromanage every single action on the part of units. Regiments allows you to step just a few feet back and give you a platoon and company command structure that makes the game slightly easier and definitely more enjoyable. The challenge then becomes tactics and technology to combat the enemy. IF you prefer SD II types; this will be a 6/10 in my assessment. IF you like something more high level but not HoI 4; this will be at least an 8/10.
I enjoy that the single player side is the focus, rather than giving all the attention to multiplayer. Strategy lends itself to this type of presentation, more than most other types of games. I applaud the developers and publisher for keeping this in mind.
Final note: is that I personally hope that the developer seriously considers adding the ability to create and edit regiments/brigades for use in the skirmish and war paths modes (I would not ask for it in operations for obvious reasons). It would allow for more creativity and re-playability. You could select a nation, then build the platoons or companies included in the main unit (just like every other regiment/bridge). And also create or use preexisting battlegroups that could be called in during the battle like the preexisting groups. Perhaps at one point this will come out as a DLC package or direct update.
There are not many wargames RTS there and most of them made by the same studio where obviously some mechanics carry over and improve with the time as graphics and ideas, but remains somewhat the same (Wargames series, Steel Division series and WARNO as examples). On top of that, most of these games are set in either WW2 or Cold War periods of time.
Regiments aren't exceptional here, but there is a catch. We got another game that follows alternative Cold War's realistic ground combat offering a bit of new mechanics and approaches on how to play in familiar environments (for wargamers). It's lacking some simple things like getting infantry into buildings giving you the ability to move it around their designated vehicles or let it build fortifications while stationary. Instead of static maps with capture points the game offers to play on dynamic switching points changing the way you have to play the game. It's not as big scale combat as you would expect after other similar games, utilizing air as abilities instead of aircraft units for example giving you more time to control ground army and such. Additionally the game offers a lot of optional solo-pve content, some of which is dynamic as well and can keep you entertained for a while.
So, I'd say this game is a must have for you if you like realistic tactical games, military stuff and RTS or are tired of other similar games. At least for now. Genre is a bit niche and there are not many games out there. Broken Arrow and Front Edge won't come anytime soon and won't be content fully in the beginning anyways.
My only question is where the fuck is achievments?
Regiments is probably as far as you can push the RTS genre while keeping it highly playable. If you're a fan of real-time strategy games, this is a solid and enjoyable choice.
I invested around 25 hours into it, and while I had fun, I eventually hit a wall of frustration—but that might just be my old-school turn-based preferences talking. The game scratches the tactical itch, but don’t come here expecting hardcore realism.
For example, I witnessed three platoons of T80BVs and T64Bs engaging two entrenched Challenger tanks at a distance of around 500 meters. Instead of a quick, decisive battle, they were exchanging machine gun fire for over a minute, slowly whittling each other down. That’s simply not how modern tank warfare works.
The game leans more into "gamey" mechanics than true-to-life military simulation, but it’s still a lot of fun in its own right. Just know what you're getting into—Regiments is more about tactical fun than absolute realism.
I had tech issues with a Microsprose game, went to their collective "Discord", randomly ate a 24 ban for "speculating" on a Microprose game's price on their Discord, I think I wrote a simple price, that's all it took. Tell your moderators, specifically the one who goes by "Pepe Silvia" to chill out, I'd refund every Microprose game I have and I damn well won't be buying another product going forward.

As a casual wargame player this is one the easier one to get into. Not alot of micromanaging as the amount of units on field is not too many, around 1 to 2 dozen units in a game.It is single player focus as there is not multiplayer but I am more of a single player person. Only gripes are minor, some performance issues, mainly when there is heavy fighting. Would recommend game to those starting to get into Cold War era wargames.

If you are into cold war weapons and tactics this is your game. Graphics and sound are excellent. Game is a little hard for the first 3 or 4 battles because you are sorting out what works and what doesnt. The AI throws you some surprises and you will have to pause the game to figure out how they outflanked or outsmarted you. Then unpause to reassign new units into the fray. Units gain veterancy after each battle and sometimes you really feel for a unit sending it to its doom to plug a breach. The only thing I would request is a replay of battle that you can watch like Company of Heroes does so you can zoom in and see individual units fighting for their lives with all the gorgeous explosions and firepower going on.
Not sure why people review this game positively, it is a weaker version of Wargame series. Totally boring and inferior compared to Wargame Red Dragon. Get that game instead while we all wait for Broken Arrow.

To put it simply, Regiments is an excellent solo real-time tactics game with almost no micromanagement, but a ton of strategy.
If you like strategy but you don't have the APM to keep up with today's lightning speed offerings, there's hundreds of hours of fun to be had here. It's also a must play if you're a fan of the Cold War.

Regiments is a gritty, realistic, tactical Cold War RTS done right. The operations (campaign) are great, the OPORDs and AARs are well written and feel right out of Team Yankee or Red Storm Rising. The details and the little quotes embedded throughout the game are a really nice touch to give it a gritty feel- the despair and chaos of ‘what-if’ WWIII cicra 1989. Units act appropriately (although they follow your orders- this isn’t Close Combat where they can be given vague directions and expected to proceed on their own initiative) and combat is visceral. Units are organized into Platoons, so you don’t interact with individual vehicles or squads, but 2-4 tracks and dismounts per unit.
The new Winds of Change DLC is one of the better $13 I’ve spent in gaming. Regiments was already an awesome Cold War RTS, but the addition of Air Cavalry, new assets, and new countries breathed new life into it in a very good fashion.
The best part is the new procedurally-generated War Paths mode, which is a dynamic infinitely replayable campaign in which you set the starting conditions and pick your Regiment, then shepherd them through the chaos trying to keep them combat effective throughout a campaign. Seems very well done, lots of fun. Fun enough to pull me away from my VR headset. Definitely try it out and support the studio, they deserve it especially considering they ended up releasing about 1/2 the content originally intended for the DLC as an addition to the base game for free in the months leading up to release.
Excellent single player game. I enjoy playing it a lot, and the Winds of Change DLC adds more to the existing game making it even better,
Real fun, has plenty of countries to choose from and most have their own roster of units. Also has some decent settings for gameplay allowing arcade like to near real gameplay. Said gameplay is real nice too, quite calm but still tense, doesnt feel like one faction is overpowered over the other since its more about the tactics used. Overall the game has gotten my trust and I really really look forward to what the devs have in store for later. Only issues i can see currently is that some moments the framerate can dip a bit but im assuming its just due to the environment with all the trees and such. Not enough to steer me away. Definitely try the demo out too, since its free.
I like that this is technically and visually realistic game play, not to mention fun!
I love the new DLC - the dynamic War Paths allow you to play as a regiment for quite a long campaign - it's exhilirating.

Game is about actual tactics, planning and decision making.
Throwing a lot of tanks / inf at the problem or spamming arty all day gonna lose you more battles than win, unlike 'other' games.
Post-release support from developer, free content and amazing recent DLC are something to take as an Golden standart in industry.
I am serious.
I really like this game, it's similar to warno with both setting and genre, but with some big differences. I play both, so let me compare my impressions. First off it's singleplayer only (for now), the AI is way better than in warno. In regiments there's also less micro, you command platoons instead of single units and you don't have to babysit them like in warno where you need to micro every single unit and yet, there is always a tank rear-facing enemy or mortars that have multiple enemies in range, but not doing anything. Regiments doesn't burden you with everything that much, it's more enjoyable for me. Regiments features multiple countries and their various regiments to pick from. You can play campaigns (there's one normal, and second procedurally generated where every playthrough is different), and skirmish mode where you can static defend, flexible defend, attack, or capture battle zones. Unit models are better looking than in warno, although warno overall is prettier, has better sound, lighting, etc. But one is an indie game created by one dev and the second one by eugen, rts veterans. Overall gameplay-wise I think Regiments is better, at least in my opinion (it has nothing to do with me being bad at multiplayer games I swear XD). The pacing is slower, less micro, more realistic approach with commanding platoons and companies instead of single tanks or ifvs. I personally really enjoy using in-game photo mode and making some good shots. The hard AI is challenging and smart, battles are fun. Bigger battles are even more fun. Trying different things, like countries, regiments, tactical approach, are also fun. Overall the game is fun, I had a blast playing it, and can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Timed missions. No in mission save option. Why do they keep doing this with SINGLE PLAYER GAMES? Let me save when and where I want. Some of us have other things to do. Wanted to like it but it just doesn't work for me. Normally I like to play longer than two hours before giving a bad review but I want my money back.
This game is legit.
absolutely a blast of a game. Not too difficult nor overwhelming, but you get that same Wargame feel. Plays better, looks awesome, and overall I love this game. My favorite part is that you actually get to play Soviet and NATO forces an equal amount, with Belgium especially being an incredibly fascinating playstyle when compared to Soviet and NATO heavy units.
I bought this Game pretty early . Actually do like the Game but its pretty bare bone until the wind of change dlc game out . The Problem I have is that i was waiting for something like a campaign mode that should be part of a base game . its fudged up to make people pay extra that supported the game early for basic contend like that !
this game really reminds me of the addiction caused by Panzer General back in the day. while it's not a simulation, I've really enjoyed it more than the complicated games and it really has that 'just one more battle' factor. including the Winds of Change DLC, there is really a lot of content here to get that Cold War Goes Hot vibe.
need multiplayer
I am pleased to recommend Regiments. I love the 4x RTS world but I am picky. I don't like micromanagement games like Armored Brigade. I don't like highly detailed, granular games like Combat Mission Shock Force 2. There is this sweet spot where fun meeting function and for me, Regiments is it. It blends fire and maneuver, the combined arms team, and a reasonably-smart AI.
Definitely more fun than WARNO.
Pace is better, less stress, nice learning path and mission progression.
Whish it had multiplayer mode.
