I overwhelmingly recommend Elroy and the Aliens!

Ever since finding out about this game years ago, and then trying out the demo, I have waited eagerly for its release. Not many Point-and-Click adventures manage to capture that spark of the games I grew up with, but this one certainly does. The characters are actually interesting and likable. With great voice acting and sometimes somber writing, it rises above its humoresque premise. I greatly appreciated this balance in writing. it gives it a more grounded feel when dealing with more fantastical elements of the game.

The game does not overstay its welcome and with puzzles being on the easier side, Elroy and the Aliens is a great entry point for new comers to the genre and also old-school veterans who are hungry for a good Point-and-Click adventure game.

A Lighthearted Adventure with Nostalgic Charm – Perfect for a Rainy Afternoon

Elroy and the Aliens is a fun, nostalgic point-and-click adventure that brings back memories of classics like Broken Sword, Day of the Tentacle, and Sam & Max Hit the Road. The style and humor clearly evoke a '90s vibe, especially through its art style, interface, and puzzle types.

The puzzles are generally straightforward and logical. Things get a bit trickier on the alien planet, where you have to juggle multiple objects (like berries, mushrooms, a cup, etc.), but overall the game remains accessible. For seasoned point-and-click fans, it might feel a bit too easy, but it’s a great entry point for newcomers to the genre.

The story is quite linear: you're searching for your father, who disappeared due to a villain’s actions. The game occasionally lets you switch between characters, which adds some variety, although the storyline itself stays very static. Only near the end are you given a choice, leading to one of three possible endings.

Personally, I felt more could have been done with the time-travel element (past vs. future), and I missed the edgier, cheeky humor you'd expect from old LucasArts titles. Elroy as a main character felt a bit bland—I actually enjoyed playing as the reporter more. A small highlight for me was the early scene with the broom: simple, but really well done.

On the plus side, the music and voice acting are excellent. The cast fits the characters perfectly and really brings the game’s quirky world to life.

Small downside: some cutscenes can’t be skipped, which made me less inclined to replay the game for the other endings.

Finished in ~8 hours, without using the built-in highlight option.

Recommended? Definitely, especially if you’re into classic point-and-click games and looking for a light, nostalgic experience. Don’t expect deep storytelling or brain-breaking puzzles, but do expect a pleasant trip down memory lane.

Loved it. It's a fun game.
Great art style, fun characters and story it's a joy to play.
Puzzles are mostly straight forward, even the one I was complaining about (the Diamond puzzle), but I guess in a comedy there is leeway on sense.
Liked the fact there (similar to Children of Silenttown) there are non inventory puzzle minigames and they were all fun to complete.
Some of them towards the end are weird and wonderful esp the Arena stuff.
There are multiple endings so lucky I saved near the end as you can't skip the cutscenes. I am split on which of the endings I like the best so it will be interesting to know what people would vote for.

Very enjoyable point n' click. Biggest issue is that all sections of the game are very linear/easy and an over reliance on logic puzzles in certain parts. In the future I hope they can do something larger in scope.

Beautifully drawn, quite light hearted. Unfortunately its very easy to the point of being trivial. But nevertheless I liked it. If you get it cheap and are a fan of point and click games, its a buy.

Nicely polished point-and-click adventure. Great art, music, and voice acting. It's about the right length. The puzzles aren't as hard or "out there" as its inspiration. The mini-games worked well. I really enjoyed it.

Wonderful game, great story, reminds me of the golden era of point and click adventures from the 90s. highly recommend.

I found the game very relaxing. It flowed from one situation to another. You have to play at least once. Try all three endings just for fun.

It's not bad, It's not good. I'd say if you wanted an average point and click game this is it.

There are better point and clicks out there but it isn't bad but you'd be better off with one of the better ones.
Now if you just want a nice time playing a game with the kids this would be perfect!

This is a real fun point and click adventure game. On the easier side, I'll say,

But this tickles all the right things, I'm laughint at the absolute shenanigans you have to do, if you enjoy point and click adventures, this has a full recommendation from me.

This looks nice, having a classic feel without pressing the retro graphic button that is so overused. Dialogue doesn't overdo the goofiness do keep some heart.
But, unfortunately, like with Harold Halibut, they forgot to put a game in. You pick up your 1-2 items per location, click on them when it's obvious to use them. Then you get the next three dialogues to click through, rinse and repeat. That's not a game. That's a tortured way to read a simple short story.

Great point and click adventure game. If you liked Deponia or Secret of Monkey Island, you'll probably like this.

Downloaded the demo and played till the end of it. I obviously Instantly bought the whole game. The graphics, voices and story line are so well done! They don't make games like this anymore and i wish more people did. I finished this game within 2-3 days. Such a great game and definitely worth it! :) 10/10 recommend.

Completed the game in approx 6.5hrs, exhausting all lines of dialogue, so not the 10hr estimate they gave. I have taken extra time to go back and do some steam achievements after that. I have some pros and cons to the game (some of the cons you may see as pros and vice versa, depending on what you like to get out of a point and click game).

Pros:

• Great art style and animation, hand drawn scenes that are quite simple, but visually very nice.
  
• The music/soundtrack is great. A joy to listen to as I played.
  
• I love point and click games, and whilst this one is a little shorter than I would have liked, had a fairly engaging story and flowed nicely.
  
• 3 Different endings to wrap things up in a variety of ways.
  
• Great voice acting, and dialogue was emotional and clear.
  

Cons:

• The puzzles are trivial to solve.
  
• The Minefield puzzle was complete trash. Its just RNG, but presented itself as being solvable with logic. it narrows down search spaces, but not enough to be "solvable" by logic
  
[*] The entire story is very linear. Don't expect to have a cluttered inventory where combinations of different items feel possible. You won't be exploring and going back to places to look around and hunt for the items you missed. It sort of just leads you by the hand and presents the story. hard to go wrong.

Overall, a positive experience, just don't expect it to have the depth of the old school 90s point and click adventures that you spent hours and hours on. I'd say it prices itself a little higher for the time spent ($16), but if you can get it for a bit less, its fun to play.

Such a promising start for the game - I'm now slightly ahead of what was available on the demo, very excited to play more!

I’m absolutely loving Elroy and the Aliens! The story, humor, and puzzles are just fantastic. Currently, I’m in Chapter Two (I was able to continue from the point where Demo ended), and the game keeps surprising me with clever mechanics and hilarious dialogue. The art style is charming, the voice acting is top-notch, and the world feels so alive.

If you’re into adventure games with a great mix of mystery and comedy, this one is a must-play! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Love the game so far, only stopping because I also love to sleep more than three hours at night.

In regards to puzzle games, I look for fun yet "fair" entertainment.

If I have to somehow figure out that the goat should have worn the red sock on it's left horn on a Wednesday morning (all based on the hint "The early bird catches the worm"), then I feel like I'm being led on.

So far, this game hasn't done that. The in-game logic is consistent.

As for how the game handles, it's all well within established parameters. You click to move, to inspect and to act; the inventory is mouse-over (upper part of the screen). If I wanted to be nitpicky, I would love to have a run animation when you double click, but so far no scenario was really big enough to make that strictly necessary.

I'm a sucker for the art style, as well as most of the voice overs (though the New England accents are sometimes a bit ... unsatisfactory). The tonality of the delivery, though, tends to be spot on; no truly atrocious cases of flat delivery, either. But then, this is somewhat subjective and what works for me may not work for everybody.

That's what demos are for ;)

Looking at the "hours of fun vs cost ratio", I'd say this game comes out on top. It's a very solid point and click game, done in a style that feels immediately, comfortably familiar to fans of that genre.

It doesn't re-invent the wheel, it doesn't force you to ponder puzzles for days on end and nearly get a nosebleed from frustration ... it simply entertains. And it does so excellently.

I usually finish a game before writing a review... but wow, this game is so well executed. The writing is top notch, and the voice acting perfectly matches the writing. The animations are great, with a very charming art style. This puts classic adventure games to shame with such great storytelling.

I was sceptical after the first narrator speech, but that went away always immediately. The gameplay is pleasant and just challenging enough. But the vibe, music and the story are just impeccable for the point&click!
Don't even start me on the visuals!! Chefs kiss.

Nice surprise. I always loved point and click games and this one is a gem. A feeling good story with good puzzles and lots of details that bring you back to the best of the 90s point a click atmosphere. I absolutely recommend it! Can't wait to finish it.

Updated now that I have seven hours in. I'm really enjoying it.

The puzzles really heat up (in a good way) as you progress. None are so frustrating that you are tempted to rage quit.

Thus far this is a big thumbs up for me.

It has crisp and vibrant graphics; the voice actor’s casting is perfect, as is the music.
There are plenty of puzzles and inventory items to gather. They are clear-cut and make sense. None thus far have been particularly devious.

You explore two planets and 60 locations.

Controls:
There is a menu screen explaining the controls. This has the standard controls you would expect in a Point and Click game with at least 50 manual save slots. The inventory is located at the top of your screen, you just hover to access it. You can enable hot spots.

There is a map with locations you’ve unlocked for quickly maneuvering around the town and desert. It has excellent walking speed!

The developer estimates approximately ten hours of game play. I play leisurely and exhaust all conversations so I wouldn’t be surprised to get an additional two hours out of it.

I absolutely adore this game. Art-style, animation, music, everything is just lovely. And there is just the right amount of puzzles. And the story is amazing! Why do we have to sleep? Can`t wait for tomorrow!

Even though point and click games are generally not my cup of tea, I absolutely love this game. It has really interesting story and I really can't wait to see how it will unfold. The great storytelling is also accompanied with great music and awesome art! I would recommend this game to anybody who has an appreciation for compelling storytelling, great art and music, even if you're not used to playing these type of games. Hat down to the developers for nice and chill game.

Really great art. SFX and voice overs add sooo much. It feels like playing an old school cartoon.
I played for almost an hour now and the story already hooked me completely.

A great point and click game with fantastic music.
Will play more later this weekend, but I wanted to show my support for games that are made with an eye for detail.

Had to stop and leave a review, the level of detail both in visuals and voice acting is incredible. The vibe is perfect!
