Completed the game in 12 hours. This is one of the best horror games I've ever played!
This game is hundreds of times better than Bendy and the Ink Machine. I got an amazing experience from this game and I recommend it to everyone. This game is worth every cent fr
An interesting upgrades system, diverse gameplay, locations and enemies, and amazing overall game quality. This game was made with love
Imo this game is something like a mix of Bendy, Alien Isolation and a little bit of Outlast
My final rate - 9/10
And btw I really enjoyed the moment where Bendy said it's inkin time and started inkin everywhere
The sequel of BATIM
Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Story: 10/10
Voice acting: 10/10
Map: 10/10
I really recommend you to play this game!
The game is super awesome! Just at the end, I defeated Shipahoy dudley but I can't return to the game after I defeat him. I'm stuck in his lair and I can't escape. Please help me
It's a pretty good game. I really enjoyed myself with this one. If you've played the first one "The Ink Machine" and had fun with that game I'm sure you'll enjoy this game just as much if not more.
However, I did have to install a mod from Nexus Mods. Mainly because the game was extremely laggy and jittery in a few parts of the game like some beginning areas and some Mid parts of the game. So this mod helps with stability, and adds a few neat things to the game. It's called; "Smooth Bendy 2 Dark Revival" It adds the much needed Field of View sliders, and even a few shaders to the game. If you don't like how heavy the blue colors are in the game. And miss the color scheme from the first game. Making the game look like this.
It's highly recommended you install the mod. It's just one file and it's a drag and drop install. I hope the game gets these updates by default. Other then that the game is pretty fun, a little short but a good play non-the-less.
Now I'm off to beat this game on hard mode. And the Ink Machine again!
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN HISTORY. Good quality and great story line with a lot of lore to uncover, just a true masterpiece.
Honestly a really good and awesome sequel! Loved and enjoyed every second of it, but if im being completely honest, its not somethiing id replay, its best if played once, to truly enjoy it in my opinion, but thats just me, besides that, GOATED sequel!
Short but fun game. I enjoyed the story and the game play.
i keep getting kicked from the game once i reach the "heavenly toys" area. i would love a refund or for this bug to be fixed
I'm not having any great first impressions in the slightest, the gameplay is a huge step down from the original, it tries to focus more on combat while they knew deadass BATIM was not known for it's combat, so the entire experience feels really janky. I'm seriously not having fun, I was stuck on Artist's Rest for an entire goddamn hour because I had no direction on where to go or what to do, and the Crawler fight was nearly impossible as from my gang rape of lost ones, I was dying after every single phase, by the way, can I just say, can we please choose another type of spider enemy other than just a fucking headcrab reskin? I'm tired of seeing a fucking headcrab reskin in every game I play.
A map mechanic along side a inventory system for food etc would've been a good addition to the game
But even not having all that. This is a decent game
I think it's a legitimate downgrade from the first one. Substandard boss design, story writing, enemies, stealth, collectibles/achievements. The first one did it better.
A huge improvement from the previous game. It no longer feels like a glorified walking simulator as there is actual game play involved this time, comparable to the one in BioShock with both a loud and a stealth option available for the player at any time. There are also some parts where stealth is just mandatory, but they never feel too overwhelming.
My biggest complaint with the game is its length and how rushed it may feel at times, but this is perfectly justifiable by the fact that its an indie game made by a decently small developing team that has like 2 games under their belt.
Overall, great atmosphere and an okay-ish game play loop. Maybe get it on sale if you are not the biggest Bendy fan.
I've said this in my BATIM review, but I've never been a fan of mascot horror games because I just don't like the vibe of most of them.
However, the art style of this series caught my attention, I gave these games a shot, and I love them. While BATIM was a solid first entry, Bendy and the Dark Revival feels like it refines some game mechanics and really starts to figure out what it wants to be. It has a bit of a Bioshock feel to it as far as the story and vibes go so if you liked the Bioshock series, you might like this one.
My ONLY complaint of the second game is that I liked how the Bendy mechanic worked better in the first game. In the first game, it felt like he was actually chasing you and like he was a real part of the environment; sometimes you'd turn down a hallway and suddenly see him standing there, "infecting" the world around him and it really got your heart racing. His appearances were also more unpredictable. You'd have to actually run away from him as he chases you, hopefully finding a hiding spot and waiting it out inside as you watch in horror as he slowly pass by.
They don't do that in the second game. Instead, the mechanic changed to intervals where the screen suddenly darkens a bit and a message pops up telling you he's coming and you have to hide. You have a set amount of seconds to hide, wait it out, and then it's over. That's it. You don't really see him in the environment much. He just felt so much more interactive and part of the world in the first one. It also feels much more predictable than what it was in the first game. Sure the first game also had a "if you hear a certain sound, hide" mechanic but even then, you can see him interacting with the world in a way that really added to the horror. In the second, it's just kind of a random pop up and after a while, it just becomes a mild annoyance rather than something that scared me. I found myself often going "oh, it's been a few minutes, let me wait for the bendy pop up next to this hiding spot before I continue my task". It got to the point where I got really good at predicting when he appeared and just waited for about 20 seconds next to a hiding spot while browsing on my phone. I no longer felt that fear and anxiety like the first game made me feel.
Again, this is my ONLY real complaint. Still a great game despite that; the game was fun and I'm really REALLY looking forward to the third game! I love the style, world building, and characters. Definitely want to see where the story goes.
The graphics are really good, and it is a fun game to play, you should try playing it. I think you would like it.
I can run it on my lower quality laptop with minimal lag when I adjust the graphics! I'm so excited to play through the whole game because even in a lower resolution and with low graphics, it's BEAUTIFUL
good quality and graphics love the models hope to see more soon!
Absolute great sequel to the first game, it showed a lot of new and old faces. The story building, twists and turns as well as the overall story of this game series so far is top notch. Can't wait for the next one!
The game has brought me more questions than answers, and thats just lovely
but I truly love it because of the artsyle
Love the gameplay and the spooky atmosphere of the studio. Gives me the scares and I love it.
Honestly just not as good as the first game. Some parts can be frustrating and some parts just have enemy spam for no good reason. The teleport ability doesn't even work properly half of the time.
The game is lacking in options such as being able to change the controls. Seriously, nobody uses C for crouch, what is wrong with you? Luckily I was able to set up a bind in iCue but some people might not have that option. The story is okay, nothing spectacular. Voice acting is pretty decent although some dialogue is a bit cringey.
Visually its alright and it runs well, didn't really come across bugs or glitches aside from at one point the ink demon spawned right as I was going into a cutscene and it killed me after the cutscene was over which was very annoying because the game doesn't give enough checkpoints so I had to do a portion over again, the game doesn't even have a quicksave so you have to manually open the menu every time you want to save and that's stupid.
The gameplay is okay I guess, you have like one weapon but you can't really block or dodge so most of the enemies will end up hitting you unless you kite them around corners to avoid their attacks. There's also a lot of stealth segments so its like why give me a weapon if I can't use it? pointless. There's also an enemy that's entire purpose is to just randomly pop up out of nowhere and jumpscare you, its more annoying than anything.
The game is mostly linear however at certain points it gives you the ability to go back to a couple of previous areas and do some sort of side quest which just seems a little hollow and unnecessary like go all the way with side exploration or not at all in my opinion.
Overall its an alright game, if you care about the story and stuff in the first game you might like it but from a gameplay standpoint its just not that great in my opinion. Definitely only get on sale. 6/10
Absolutely had fun playing this game. Although The Projectionist was missing, we got Searchers, which I liked as much as got scared of, especially when trying to find the second part of the music box, but totally loved the map design, more corridors, ladders. I loved the Lord Amok cult and wished there was more to it and some cutscene of Audrey being crowned and something more when she sat on the throne, because nothing happened. Also, when she got out, some of other Lost Ones who you could now recognize as Lord Amok's people, could have not attacked Audrey and when regular searchers attacked her, they'd help her out. But still it was a lot of treasure Audrey found in Amok's little kingdom. I also wished there was more in the rooms at Wilson's Mansion and perhaps a short movie of Wilson and Betty at the dinner table, that he talked about, where he could have told the rest of the story, instead of him and Betty right away telling her Audrey everything at the arrive. When asking her to rest, we got the book in her bedroom, I read it all and wished we could click on the pillow to sleep and have this story appear, as a short game, that turned into horror and evil Betty appeared, slightly like Alice and she made Audrey wake up, to find Berry already there waking her up for coffee or something or to give a message. Because Audrey didn't get to rest otherwise. I loved Alice's puzzle in the North section of the house and the boss fight. I did miss having the Axe in this game. There were very few Gent Cards to be found and we had to rather exchange our tools, which we needed for Gent Pipe Upgrade, especially the Tool Pouch that is rarely found and is much needed in the upgrade. I loved the Abilities and the idea of upgrading Audrey and the Pipe and the hidden passages through walls. Enjoyed listening to the Lost Ones talking. All these backstories in the audio logs and Lost Ones talking made me want to see more of the Gent story from those days.
Definitely would love a game that allowed us to play Susie and Henry in the real life studios and then warping to the Ink world as the Ink Characters, like in Shadow Man, you play Live Side and Dead Side and in Soul Reaver you have both realms you can shift between. Seeing some inactive Linker Portals, I wished we would find a hidden place to obtain some device to activate the Linker portals to reach other areas in the game and inside some houses in the city near Gent office. Always wished to see what was going on when you knocked on the door to annoy someone inside.
A very great sequel to the original BATIM, showcasing everything from that game but taking it 10 steps further with great visuals, storytelling and mechanics. 9.5/10
also bendy now has a way more epic and cool sick design :))
the visuals are epic, the story line is great, the Characters are great and if you want to play this, i recommend Bendy and the ink machine first because it helps learn the story properly
SO MUCH better than the first game. The pacing is way better, the game actually looks great (first game had cool art direction but still looked super lack luster), and the story is better (not good, better). There's actual gameplay this time, and the metroidvania-esque map works WAY better than I thought it would. I was very pleasantly surprised!
But it's not worth the $30 price tag. Wait for a sale. Solid 7.5/10.
Oh my god i dont even know where to begin with this game. The story is really good, as well as the voice work done for each character being excellent. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who hasnt played it yet, and is a fan of Bendy and the Ink Machine!
This game is absolutely amazing. Everything from the art style to the voice acting is top tier. It is a perfect sequel to the original; a game I have replayed countless times. Even the music is absolutely breathtaking. Definitely worth the money.
The Machine Must Endure
Great game, totally worth the purchase. Great history, graphics, and gameplay
i like how more open-world it is and how a bit more expressive things are, as well as well. everything in general. currently halfway done with the game and still loving it, though of course it is a bit hard trying to stay alive in the game but eh, trial and error.
A improvement over the original in terms of game play. The graphics are really stylish but sometimes it's hard to find notice things sense the same color blends together. The narrative is better and animations are very smooth.
An improvement over the first game, but still not great.
If you're a bendy fan, get it on a sale and you'll find enough to enjoy. If you're a passerby seeing this game on a sale or some kind of promotion, don't bother.
Good:
-Interesting moments
-Neat references
-Atmosphere is nice
Mediocre:
-Palpatine sounding Bendy. I don't know why they gave Bendy a voice or why it sounds like Palpatine, but yeah, its there.
-The gameplay, while an improvement over the original, still isn't fun. From puzzles that push logic to uninteresting combat and annoying stealth, it may be an improvement, but its nowhere near fun or interesting.
-Not scary. I know its subjective, but there wasn't a single moment that ever incited a feeling of fear, dread or nervousness in me.
-Disappointing abilities. 2 of the powers are just basic game features presented as "abilities" while the sole actually interesting ability is just a short teleport. That combined with the fact that there is a single weapon ensures that the gameplay never truly evolves. Despite the game's rather obvious Bioshock influences, it feels like they're there just because, instead of actually adding to the overall gameplay.
Bad:
-Everything blends into the environment. From resources to key items, I missed out and overlooked quite a lot of things simply because they all blend into the environment.
-Story was...a lot? The story started of interesting enough but lost it from halfway through and it finished up with a bewildered whimper than a bang.
-Technical everything. And I do mean everything. Frame rate issues, stuttering, no FOV slider and no way to rebind the controls.
-Respawning enemies. Destroys any and all reasons to engage with the combat side of the game.
Overall, after Bendy and the Ink Machine, I was expecting Bendy and the Dark Revival to be better. And it is better, but its just not there yet. Maybe the developer's next game will be better. Or maybe it won't. All I know is that I likely won't be there to see it. So far, the Bendy series likes to ask questions and give you cool characters and moments. But it doesn't do anything with what it has. No satisfying payoffs, no answers to key questions. No...well, you get the point.
Bendy and the Dark Revival is a 5/10. Its nothing great, but it isn't awful. There are plenty worse games out there, but there are also better ones. The die-hard fans may enjoy this game, but for anyone else, look somewhere else.
Misery loves company
The twisted world of classic cartoon-turned-nightmare returns to have the last laugh. Through truly bizarre circumstances, the ink machine is activated once again, transporting the player back into the clutches of Bendy and the gang. I won’t beat around the bush as nor does the game – Bendy and the Dark Revival is a direct sequel to the Ink Machine and in the most literal sense at that. Familiarity with the first game is not so much recommended, as expected by the developers and simply necessary to make sense of the narrative. If somehow you ended up here with no prior knowledge of the previous game, go check that out first, as it is not possible to discuss the Dark Revival further without spoilers for the Ink Machine.
Now that elephant has been addressed, let’s take a look at the rest of the room. Bendy and the Dark Revival sets out to do what any self-respecting sequel does – deliver more of the same but grander in scale and make. Especially the latter is immediately apparent through the shift in the game’s art style. While the Dark Revival retains a hint of its cell-shaded roots, it is now in full 3D, more realistic and... darker, in line with the main theme of a world familiar, yet changed.

Feminine touch
Much to my surprise, the game opens up in full colour, without a hint of sepia in sight. Thus, we meet Audrey – a young animator, working late into the night on recently revived Bendy cartoon series. Contrary to the protagonist of the Ink Machine, she at least displays hints of human behaviour – say, a need for a cup of coffee to make it through the late working hours.
Now, I do hope you like your coffee black as the game quickly returns to more familiar grounds the moment Wilson, a janitor with demeanour of a serial killer, enters the scene. Following a head-scratching sequence in which Audrey is lured into “accidentally” starting the ink machine, the player is snatched away into the animated world. On one hand, the ink and burnt sepia are back, on the other, among the first things in sight is a poster proclaiming Bendy to have been vanquished by our new acquaintance. The winds of change sure blow strong on this day.
Lost in Rapture
One of my first impressions of the game was how similar to Bioshock 2 its theme of return to the seemingly known place, which has been twisted by a passage of time is. While I do indulge myself that I caught on rather quickly, I hardly invented the wheel with this comparison. Should you happen to have any past experience with the underwater city of fallen dreams, you will soon recognise it as the prime influence behind Dark Revival, for better or worse.
Let’s start with the better. Overall, the gameplay loop has become notably more enjoyable when compared to the first instalment. Walking simulator no more, the Dark Revival leans towards action elements via supernatural ink powers, giving the player an edge over the opposition. Admittedly, the stealth is not completely without its merit but more often than not, Audrey is the one on the offensive. Primary incentive for world exploration follows in kind – while there are still plenty of secrets and collectibles to go around, in this title the player hunts primarily for loot. Be it character power-ups, crafting parts or coin for one of many vending machines, every nook and cranny is worth searching through.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355019821
Alas, the coin also has the other side. Due to emphasis on action, any semblance of horror is essentially gone from the game. Not only the player can beat most enemies into submission using increasingly more powerful pipe, minor enemies drop loot straight-up rewarding the player for combat. Should you choose to remain sneaky, Audrey is able to catch unaware foe and consume its soul, healing a portion of her health. To make matters worse, hidey-cupboards are still present, easily warding off any notable threat. Furthermore, many of spots have been reduced to semi-open barrels and crates, undermining credibility of the whole setup. Whereas the Ink machine tended to struggle with providing threats, the sequel makes the player into one instead.
Speech is silver, silence is golden
Tonal shenanigans of the Dark Revival hardly end there. I don’t think anyone will consider it much of a spoiler if I reveal that a game with Bendy in the title does indeed star the ink demon, although his presence is... divisive, to put it mildly. For starters, Bendy now talks – in guttural, clicking voice – taunting the player with an edge to his lines that would make a 13-years old keyboard warrior blush. I am not a huge fan of chattering mute cartoon, although ultimately it is a matter of taste. However, Bendy’s core game mechanic deserves no such benefit of doubt. In perhaps well meaning, but ill-executed attempt to introduce some threat to the game, ink demon’s manifestations are now guaranteed to instantly kill Audrey unless the player hides in time. Being forced to keep constant track of nearest hiding spot makes exploration and secret hunting a less than inviting prospect.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3355020184
The final nail in the coffin would be the storyline. Admittedly, the narrative of the Dark Revival at face value is notably more cohesive than it was in the first game, although it doesn’t make the journey a compelling one. Extremely naive way in which the game attempts adding some nuance to events unfolding, ultimately makes the antagonist extremely two-dimensional . It’s quite a shame how a notion commendable on paper ended up so forced in practice. To make matters worse, the Dark Revival is filled to the brim with token appearances of characters from the first game, which mostly seem to be a slapdash gathering of nods towards the fans, rather than any meaningful contribution to the plot.
Rinse and repeat
All in all, Joey Drew Studios didn’t paint a pretty picture with Bendy and the Dark Revival. To be frank, the sequel did evolve in terms of visuals and gameplay, alas it was done at the cost of mood and distinct aesthetic of the original, while also burying the horror on top of that. Similar to the first game, this title too includes Archives with developer notes, which may shed some light on the reasons behind unfortunate condition of the game. The Dark Revival was initially thought up as individual title, which was made into sequel only at some point during the development. It would explain at least some of the kinks. On the other hand, the Archives perhaps do hint at a grander ambition, however insights they offer are ludicrously pretentious when compared to what made the final cut.
No matter how I would spin it, the title of the day is at best an average game and foremost, a bad horror. The only target audience I could possibly recommend it to would be diehard fans of the first game. Truth be told, the Dark Revival seems to be deliberately aiming for this exact angle. As for all others, steer away from these waters – the aesthetic appeal of haunted cartoon studio is gone too.
I give it a thumbs up! I love the concept. Art style and originality. Everything about this Dev. is awesome.
however, For some reason, I keep having problems playing some of these games.
(Maybe I just need to see more game plays, to understand my mistakes). But again, very nice all around, with art and story telling. Thanks for the game.
This game is diffidently worth the money. The visuals are the toppest of notches and the story in beyond incredible
It's an improvement from the first game, tho you could call it a "mainstream" game if that makes sense? The only weapon's The Gent Pipe, which has UPGRADES. One that is mandatory, which is fine, but there are also two optional. In Batim you had many weapons even if they were retextured. In Batdr there are also abilities. Banish which is just an execution from behind, and also a dash ability. The combat is better, tho not perfect. You regenerate health only by eating (There are lots of food dispensers), or by banishing, which is hard to do. The enemies are just lost ones (And Searchers but only in like one or two locations). The boss fights are fine. The Ink Demon mechanic is bullshit. Just a darkened screen and letters "Ink Demon is coming. Hide". It would be fine if Ink Demon was PHYSICALLY THERE. In Batim, Ink Demon was physically looking for you. In Batdr, he is not there. If you don't hide, you get a jumpscare. No matter what. The graphics and models are better. There are also collectibles. Notes, which you can read, Tape Logs which you can read or listen to, and Memories. Memories are just there to be there. Just collectibles. Nothing interesting. There are also better scares, so It is a horror game, which Batim wasn't really. I still recommend this game as a Bendy fan. It's a good sequel, but not a perfect one.
Whatever you do, don't open the mysterious crate. Now my nerves are shot and I have to restart the game lol.
HOW TF YOU MAKE CARTOONS SCARY BRO?!
its graphics are amazing
Like Bendy and the Ink Machine, this is also Super Fun to me, It is 1 of my 2 favorite games (with the other being Bendy and the Ink Machine), but like always, Bendy will return.
This game is LAME!
It failed after the BATIM. It just doesnt give the right vibe. Plus, the story is boring, there are a lot of bugs, the locations are awefull. The game in general is bad. Boris is even ToM. Dont buy this, you will get disapointed!
Its such a good game with good storyline
The sequel definitely imo was one of the best they did for this series, a lot more better than the first! Story is still engaging and fun to watch as always but the gameplay has evolved to have more puzzles and threats to solve and get around, graphics are phenomenal & the jumpscares to me are also much better too! They definitely went all out getting much more scared at many moments compared to the first!
GENUINELY THE BEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED I LITERALLY HAVE CLOSE TO NO ISSUES WITH THIS GAME, DOES EVERYTHING THEY DID IN INK MACHINE BUT BETTER
The overall story was fun I espically loved the later chapters, coming from a person that has played the orginal the game is a step up being more interactive and dynamic.
P.S I got this game from the mega discount 2023 I think where I got it for I think $5 in a bundle with the other games include that solo dog one
This game is a step back from the first game. It has the same art style and more effects, but some of the graphics are more janky with aliasing problems. You have to mod the game with ''Smooth Bendy v2'' otherwise the camera when walking and turning gives awful frame pacing on any monitor above 60hz. The game relies heavily on jump scares which, not only become predictable, they become boring and desensitise to the horror around you, with annoying ''ghost pop up'' scares and ''crawlers'' just spawning in to give chase,it just becomes a sad attempt at trying to be a horror. The Ink demon in this one is a joke, given a voice that just doesn't go with him, and no where near as nail biting as the first game.
I am finding this one a struggle to play, i will likely finish it but it will be in small sessions due to how boring i am finding the game
This is one of the games wich feels good to replay over again after a while and its a adventure in it self,i recomend this game HOWEVER only when its on sale.
Great game artstyle is gorgeous and improves on the og in every way possible a definant buy for fans of the original although i woudnt replay it
An hour in and this game is so much better than the original. I can save the game and my progress doesn't get erased. Just download optimization mods again for this game and it's fine.
I'm rather surprised this has such a high rating. Great graphics, voice acting, sound design, but inferior to the original in gameplay and story entirely. Not scary whatsoever. There is more of an emphasis on combat and hand powers, but it feels like a barely developed imitation of Bioshock (It's been 17 years). Bendy is reduced to a timed jumpscare. No interesting characters. No interesting encounters or cool looking enemies as seen in Bendy 1. I regret having looked forward to this because it isn't even outright bad, just a waste of time and potential.
Awesome game. Love the setting, improves on the original game in many ways. Great story, TONS of nostalgic throwbacks to BATIM, great soundtrack and decently tense/scary at moments. Fans of the BENDY universe will love it, and even non fans can enjoy the unique horror atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed it, 7.5/10
Very good cant beat the nostalgic game play of the first one though.
I’m sorry to all the people that enjoyed it but this game is some hot doo doo ass, it has a great first chapter really bringing you into this new but familiar world, building its horror and tension really well and does a great job supposedly setting up what the games going to feel and be like, it has a good second chapter, where for the most part it’s actually scary, doesn’t do a great job at set up and the level design isn’t the best, there onwards the chapters are just bad getting worse each time, the new gameplay really just doesn’t fit bendy or horror games in general, the level design just doesn’t feel good to play, the characters are boring, it’s very clunky and at some points just to aimless. This is all subjective, if you enjoyed the vibe and level design of the first game I can only recommend the first chapter, if just liked the world and look of bendy you’ll probably enjoy this but for the most part it’s pretty shite
