Superliminal was interesting all the way through and visually appealing, especially with all the mind-bending changes in perspective throughout the game. The puzzles were mostly simple but a few were challenging for me. For the most part, the game was walking, listening, and looking at all the illusions. Had some fun with the new added modes and the ability to play other people's dreams is cool. The story was worth playing but the ending was the most impactful part of it all. It has a lot similarities to the Portal games, especially with the whole "corporate-type puzzle game goes downhill" gameplay that both games have. Solid puzzle game but doesn't hit as hard as games like Portal 1 and 2. 7.5/10.
Amazing puzzle game. I had strong vibes of Portal and maybe a bit of The Witness.
Fun little game and not very difficult for the most part but kinda short . Not a bad value if you get on sale but wouldn't recommend for full price.
This game was very fun and solving all the puzzle is very simulating! Seriously a very good game. 100% recommend!
A good way to describe this game is if a physicist, a psychiatrist, and a oneirologist (dream doctor) got really high together
One of the best puzzle games I've played in years. I first tried this game with a friend from Xbox Game Pass and it checked off everything I wanted it to for my brain. Smooth difficulty curve, lovely classical music and soundtrack, decently engaging story, and plenty of achievements and collectibles. Good luck finding everything for 100%.(you'll need it)
I was extremely excited to play this game. Ultimately I'm very glad I played it but I can't help but feel disappointed a little. This feels like a mix between Portal and the Stanley Parable, both games which I love and probably anyone else who is playing this does.
First of all I think it did a superb job at capturing the actual liminal space and feelings associated with it. I really enjoyed the art direction in that sense. I also feel like it captured the feeling of being trapped within a dream you can't escape multiple times.
However in regards to the puzzles themselves, I feel like much of the art direction was set dressing. It made it sort of into a, look around rapidly to see which object you can pick up, and in the beginning half of the game almost all of the puzzles are some variant of just, make this bigger so you can reach a ledge/the exit. Some of the puzzles were also a little bit frustrating, because they just weren't intuitively designed- e.g the hallway with exit sign, the dark room you have to go left or right. I feel like it didn't really prime you to think of these sorts of solutions, the way that Portal would have. I feel bad saying this but throughout, I wished that they had given this game to the Portal creators who I feel would have done a splendid job on this. :( But I'm glad they tried. The last portion of the game feels also less like a puzzle game, but I quite enjoyed it. It just wasn't so cohesive as a whole.
I think story wise it felt, again, Portal derivative, and landed a little bit flat. I think if they managed to integrate a really solid narrative this game could have become a lot stronger.
I think I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, unless you really like these sorts of surreal, dreamlike environments to begin with. It's a shame because the concept is soooooo good, unique and interesting. Someone needs to take this further. But I will recommend it to those who love this sort of atmosphere, like me.
I absolutely love this game,it's basically a psychological version of Portal and Portal 2
Wonderful experience. I put this one off for far too long. As a struggling artist, I hear the message at the end, loud and clear. Thank you.
less of a puzzle game, more of a walking sim. short but sweet. honestly would still recommend
It's fun and allows you to use your imagination and think outside the box, it's also relaxing. I didn't find it stressful. I would recommend others to play this games.
Perfection down to the last puzzle. i really enjoyed the style of puzzles used in the game. as well as the faint story line that plays out in the background as you go through each room. the music was very calm and enjoyable. and the design of the rooms and props looked great. overall a great game that i would recommend to everyone!
Very very good puzzle game, but it's extremely short unfortunately. If it wasn't for a couple mistakes I kept making, the game could've been beat in around an hour. But nonetheless I'd still give it a 10/10!
It carries super deep themes about perspectives and how we look at things. It was not like one of those easy puzzles they continuously throw you curveballs but it is worth it for the ending sequence.
Such a fascinating game. I love the concept of the backrooms, liminal space, and how perception can alter reality, so this is the perfect game for me!
Amazing (but a bit short) puzzle game. Very cool concept!
As one player commented: the problems are not too difficult. But I think the puzzle aspect in indivdual levels is entirely NOT the point of the game as a whole. There is a story here to be discovered and experianced, some may think a profound one – myself included.
Overall, considering how well the main mechanic was implemented, how well the levels (especially the final ones) were designed and just how brilliantly the story was told, I can't give this short game anything less than:
9.5/10
Also the music and sound design are done really well.
Definitely would recommend at least checking out. The whole game took me 11h, but I explore and backtrack a lot, so I'd say it could be easily completed in about 3-5h.
A great puzzle game with cool mechanics. It is a very short experience, but I guess that is a matter of perspective isn't it?
One of the best games I've played through in a while. The mix of perspective, point of view, and toying with physics and reality are so impressive. 10/10.
It was yet another interesting puzzle dream game I've played. Brilliantly with the perception of size and scale. The story and its narration were also excellent.
A funhouse of thinkpieces with cute homages to Stanley's Narrator and GLaDOS, this will provide replay value and search missions for awhile. Some toughies!
UPDATE: This turned into much more of a lyrical journey than expected once I got to the end. Well done!
Playing on an 2020 M1 Mac mini--this marks only the third time ever of the fans coming on. Must be thinky for the computer, too.
I love this game but puzzles really didn't escalate much in terms of difficulty. They were cool but it was just so short and easy to solve. Things were almost intuitive and I expected it to increase in difficulty as the game continued but it did not. Unfortunately, they increased the difficulty through other means, the achievements. They were getting so miserable at the end; the speedrun was too difficult in a not-so-fun way. I probably finished the game 5-10 times just to get the achievements and it was just getting kinda boring. But other than that I would like to point out that this game did something that no other game has ever done before and I really appreciate the creativity.
Perception is reality.
Liked the puzzles quite a bit (except for 1!)
Loved the illusions and atmosphere.
Really fun and creative, with a great metaphor. But why is everything in gaming created by men and always about men?
Easy difficulty
Nice Lo-Fi jazz Music
Funny Dialogue
Trippy effects
Good use of non-euclidean geometry in an Escher-like world.
This game is absolutely brilliant and has/is helping me through some hard times. The gameplay is fresh, mind-bending, and enjoyable, and the storyline is actually quite impactful and sentimental. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
An extremely good puzzle game, like Portal meets Monument Valley.
Ive beat this game three times, and i can say its a game that can really mess into your head with fun puzzles you REALLY have to think outside the box.
Few games are able to maintain a feeling of surprise and novelty from start to finish, but Superliminal is one of them. While it is a puzzle game at heart, it was more a tour of mind-bending illusions, each one more amazing than the last. All of this is powered by graphical and physical feats that are a true marvel. There are also plenty of secrets and easter eggs that keep you smiling in between puzzles.
This is a game I wish I could play for the first time again.
I really enjoyed this game, I got it after seeing a few you tubers i like play it, even though i know what would happen it still was very enjoyable, and definitely a game worth the price
Excellent main story, I was engrossed start to finish, grab it and play it.
Absolute banger of a game. Amazing levels, clever puzzles, and a beautiful message throughout. The OST is also so good that I not only bought the soundtracks, but learnt them on the piano to play at weddings and restaurants.
I got it on sale and would 100% recommend, even at full price. Sometimes I got stuck so badly I had to continue the next day so I could get a fresh outlook
Good but super short. Add to wishlist and grab when on sale.
Use prespective to create platforms and solve Portal style puzzle chambers, which is fitting because I would say this game is just as damn good as the original portal. If you're aching for some puzzle platforming action this is definitely worth your time.
Great replay value, at least for me. Short but sweet and interesting gameplay mechanics that don't feel gimicky
Surprisingly meaningful story for a 2 hour game. Actually a great experience.
good sht.. always wanned to play... i wish there was more lvls or a new story
I came into this expecting more challenging puzzles but was left with an enjoyable walking game with a decent story. I would have liked a bit more variety in the puzzles and for it to be a bit longer, but the overall construction is very well done and I'd recommend it to more casual players who are sometimes in it for primarily the visuals.
A game that's truly dreamlike where depth perception isn't real but the fire alarms and extinguishers are. If you like the first Portal and how it handled puzzles (and a bit of it's tone) you will probably like this game too. You may also like this game if you enjoyed The Stanley Parable for it's humor but wished it was more interactive.
The game is short, however it does offer plenty of extras, such as a dev commentary, a challenge mode, and workshop compatibility which will allow you to add more levels (or make some of your own!), as well as the great many collectables you can find.
The forth level does have some flashing light effects and the last level will have similar, so if you are photo sensitive please handle with care.
The game does mute audio when alt-tabbed, though it's music is very good (it's a lot of lofi along with some more energetic beats), and I highly recommend picking up it's soundtrack, even if you decide to skip out on the game itself.
Lower end PCs may struggle with framerate a bit, but I don't think it will affect your overall enjoyment of the game.
Oh, and Hello! Doctor Glenn Pierce welcomes you!
The gameplay is pretty unique: everyone should give this game a try just to have the experience
One of the best games I've ever played. Anyone who's attempted drawing 3-D objects in their life can really appreciate these style of puzzles. The game gives a real sense of reward when you figure out what to do. And sometimes it feels like a fluke that you even made it past a stage. I have only just cleared the game after 3 sessions. There are many achievement I did not do. I enjoy that there's a whole commentary play-though as well.
This game made me spend 30 minutes converting a 3D model of literal DOG SHIT into a .glb file all so I could get an achievement.
10/10 would recommend
Loved the game. It's full of innovative ideas and interesting puzzles and it ends before it becomes repetitive. I highly recommend it.
perfect, its a fun puzzle game that triggers you to think outside of the box. its very unique, like there is no game like this. overall would def recommend.
the multiplayer mode is fun and makes the game more re-playeble. also making your own levels is really fun specifically with the option to upload your own 3d moddle's
★★★★★
This is going to be my favorite game for a while. This game is the definition of a job well done; the devs set out to do something, and they smashed it. There are no weird compromises such as on optimization (It is EXTREMELY well optimized, well done!!!), and it even supports Linux natively.
This game is a short and only took about 2 hours to complete, but it was 2 hours that I will always remember fondly. I'd rather play this just once and remember it than play some boring, triple-A cash grab that I will forget about moments after.
I cannot recommend it enough.
This game was a beautiful experience I loved it, finished it and I would absolutely recommend it. Even saw the secret dog pics 10/10 (Glenn Pierce is a close friend after all that)
游戏设计,游戏哲学理念都太精妙了!Perception is reality,不止是视角的改变,也是解谜思路的变化。一个晚上偶然打开这款游戏,最后带来的是十足的情感震撼。
Thanks for dreaming!
to say i like Superliminal feels like a understatement this game at first was it was cool perspective game. being able to bend objects to your will. at first i thought that was it a few puzzles and what not right? then the game puts me on my head with being able to teleport the constant reminder hat I am stuck and the horror aspect of it which gave me a good laugh once it was over. then more and more optical illusions kept happening i though i had seen it all till then. and just to finish it over a amazing ending as well. this isn't just a game, it feels like the journey of a movie and your the main character. you won't feel empty after completing this game.
