Amazing!
Did you play I spy as a kid? Do you like spot the difference tasks? If not, you'll still probably like this game, but you'll like it a lot more if you do. It's good, simple, and doesn't need to be more.

fun cognitive challenge to wake up to

If you like FNAF and Uncanny Valley, this game is for you.
If you've ever seen the recent proliferation of horror-themed "spot the anomaly" type games like The Exit 8 and Midnight Monitor, you can largely thank Notovia and his wonderful creation, I'm On Observation Duty. By mixing spot-the-difference gameplay with environments presented through security cameras, this series has made a real name for itself and become a classic in my book. Your job is to survive from 12 AM-6 PM by reporting anomalies, such as objects moving/disappearing, weird things happening to walls/floors and so forth. The horror comes into play from the fact that you will inevitably encounter at least one freaky intruder, often when you least expect it, and the audio is dead silent until certain anomalies trigger, which can definitely jumpscare you. The dead silence in general also adds an unsettling feeling that always sticks with me, no matter how many times I replay these games.
This game, and all its sequels, will really test your memory, knowing what types of anomalies there are, and which objects can change. It's very difficult to beat either level in this game on your first try with out looking up the anomalies. Anomalies are randomized each run and don't appear at set times. The difficulty and randomization encourage replaying the game and going in with what you know can change, and discovering more subtle anomalies you've missed before.If you don't like trial-by-error, you might get a bit frustrated with that, since full runs take about 20 minutes and it's entirely possible to lose even in the last in-game hour. But you're not penalized for submitting false reports other than costing you time. You can only have up to 3 anomalies active; 4 and you lose, and you only get a single warning per run when you're up to 3 active. That leads to my only real complain about this game and the later entries; generally there's only one object per each type of anomaly (for example, object movement in a bedroom will only ever given to one object for that room, instead of multiple). It does make memorization easier, but at the cost of making future runs more predictable more quickly.
Despite that though, this is a really enjoyable game and a great foundation for the rest to follow. It's a particularly fun game to stream to audience or a group of friends, too!

Something about this game scratches a nostalgic itch in my brain of playing those old "I Spy" children's books with my mother. It's not particularly a scary game, minus a couple jumps, but I enjoyed playing it quite a bit.

Definitely recommend. Challenging, unsettling, and weird.
im on observation duty really tests your observation skills. you have a few rooms to observe and make sure nothing changes. there are two houses, the old house and the new house.
the old house is a great starter map, as theres less items to keep an eye on and less places to look. the new house provides more of a challenge, with a ton of clutter around the house to pay attention to.
if youre really struggling, there are guides that can help you figure out what changes to look for and how to report them. several of the anomalies are easy to miss, so it may take some time to get the hang of everything.

Such an original and great Horror game. I found this through watching Insym and I'm so glad I got it. It's no wonder so many games are trying to copy this game. Definitely one of my favorite Horror experiences. If you think it looks even vaguely interesting, just buy it. This game (and series) is so worth it.
A surprisingly fun game, I wasn't really expecting something like this to grab my attention like it did, but I really recommend this for people that like hidden picture puzzles and spot the difference games.
Definitely my favorite in the "watch the camera" genre, it's a nice change from the FNAF series as it doesn't seem to focus so much on jump scares and is more hands on in spotting and reporting. A cool evolution.

I love the expierence as a whole. The slight panic of no knowing what changed or being unsure if anything even did is great. Additionally, its oddly calming too, since game play wise, it has extremely simple mechanics, 8/10
!!HUGE MAN!!
A very short play, and def the easiest one I'm sure out of them all. After getting achievements, I doubt I'll return to this one because the activity- the ingame changes- is verrry slow. And because you know the place easily, you know you aren't really missing anything or going crazy that you'd be missing anything- unlike future games that are much harder.
So def worth the price for something simple and easy, BUT it is still really fun, especially for a first timer~. It's a good introduction to the series, but menu does change some down the road- thankfully to a nicer one.
I wish there was more games out there like this one without the 'horror' for those easily spooked like me lol and just wanting to chill. But the 'horror' in this is often just comedic and shows the developer's fun for making the series and messing with players~.
