Usually I wait till I finish a game before I recommend it or not. I'm recommending this before I finish based purely on its art direction. It's like if H.R.R. Giger designed a Lovecraftian game. The environments and atmosphere are great. The story is decent enough, the 'mysteries' aren't that great but that's okay for me.
Some things people may find negative:
-The game uses a very outdated checkpoint-saving system. If you die you can potentially get thrown back kind of far which can be annoying at times. The game is relatively easy though so this shouldn't happen very often. The biggest annoyance I've run in to with this is that I have to be very mindful if I want to just stop the session I'm in since when I come back, my progress can be totally wiped.
-The voice acting is... not great. It can be kind of corny and the delivery of the main characters dialogue can seem like it doesn't fit the situation. This can lead to some humorous bits which I liked cause it felt like a B-Horror movie and I live for that.
-The gameplay is okay too. It's not great but it's varied enough that you won't get bored but it's also nothing to write home about. This is definitely one of those games that you play for the visuals and story not because it's necessarily a fun video game. I hope the studio that made this nurtures the talent that made this game come to be because I can clearly see some amazing potential there.
for me this game is way better than the 1st part. i really like it and its nice it is longer than the 1st part. ONE OF MY FAV GAMES of this ,,genre,, i enoij playing it!! worth buying<3
One of the most underwhelming game in the world, plus the voice acting literally burns my ears
Not a full review, just remembering some aspects:
1) Good music and fantastic audio design. A lot of audio is based on distance from objects, and the sounds are fitting to the theme.
2) Beautiful art, but quality level varies by asset/theme type. The realistic indoor art is properly elegant, the alien-seeming world has a good integration of the Alien movie style without it being a ripoff. That along with the visual effects and lighting are used to pull off some really beautiful scenery shots in there. Some of the gritty themed stuff feels almost low quality or lower-quality textured. Surprisingly not over-sexualized outside of the lore-fitting aspects, which makes it look much more like a real game than just a porn game.
3) Gameplay is a mixed bag. Walking around indoors and moving items feels extremely fluid. Combat is a little jank, but doesn't feel terrible for a game more focused on point-and-click-style interaction. Where the game does worst is the stealth and puzzle mechanics. It gives off a feel like an early 2000's game. It is very easy to miss the final step in a few areas (such as the first alieny dark stealth area where you get 3 items and it isn't clear what you need to do with them.) The lack of good subtle lighting at parts to indicate where interactive items/doors are was a huge time sink and made me have to google a guide to figure it out at 2 parts through this game. Some of the puzzles were pretty fun. Nothing over the top that I saw, but some were pretty basic too.
4) Lore/theme seemed pretty good, though I am not a Cthulu fan, so I don't have enough experience to judge how it compares to other things in the genre, but it did give me those nice vibes. The choices of names of the people worked pretty well, as they all had nice varied lengths and characters so they were memorable.
5) Writing. The lore writing was pretty good to me, but the dialog writing is was another pain point. Some feels natural, but then at random times there will be dialog that does not feel realistic at all. (The relationship dialog sticks out in my mind.) When that happens at the same time as poor voice acting (see below), those are the lowest points of the game where I could see people just giving up on the game.
6) My perspective on the voice acting is that the main man's voice is mediocre. He struggles with showing emotion a bit which detracts from the most important scenes, but his voice also seems to match the written character, so those elements tend to balance out. After a while, it isn't too distracting. But the main issue is the main woman's voice. I understand that it is tougher to find voice actors in the adult entertainment side of things, but I'd say the voice director at fault here for selecting the actor. I don't want to rag on this too badly, but if I made a game this beautiful, having this lower quality voice acting for such an important role, who sounds like she is reading the lines from a sheet of paper for the first time, that would be a big regret. It gives the game 1-dev indie project vibes, while the rest of the game feels so much more professional. No disrespect to the actor for this though, as they were likely very new.
Hope this doesn't sound too mean. This is just the subjective experience I had (that I can remember.) It feels like this was a Kickstarter game, so people's skill levels were all over the place. Ultimately, I really respect the people that created this, as it not only delivers a complete game with some great aspects, it does that while also incorporating the sexual elements in true adult content ways that really fits with the game's themes. Extreme props to whoever managed this project.
The Epic Story of a Guy Becoming Cool
Victor Holloway is a generic video game protagonist with a boring job at an antique store and an indie musician girlfriend who finds himself plagued by dreams FROM BEYOND. An unlikely trip to the City of Dreams finds our hapless protagonist tossed like a salad into the trippy psychosexual world of Lusst'gha in search of carnal pleasures and a desperately-needed personality transplant. Will he finally become cool? YOU DECIDE!

Pros
A (Mostly) Compelling Story
The arc of the story was enough to keep me going through its roughly 7-8 hours of gameplay. It doesn't find itself getting bogged down too often to tedious exposition and its world actually hangs together pretty well as far as Lovecraftian worlds go.
Looks beautiful
Could you find beauty in H.R. Giger's fever dream? Much like the Amazon, it's as beautiful as it is dangerous. The Unity engine shows its limitations here and there, but the environments, from the town of Bleakmoor to the twisting tunnels of Lusst'gha are very well realized.
Chamber of Pleasures
Progressing through the game unlocks the orgy environments and character models. Good for what there is, just wish there was a bit more of it.

Cons
It was a dark and stupid night...
While the plot-related writing gets the job done, it's not exactly full of surprises for those savvy with this genre. It doesn't help that Victor is not exactly the sharpest tack in the drawer, which comes through in his dialogue especially. In fact, most of the characters are pretty flat. Wouldn't have minded a couple more hours of gameplay to really flesh them out; backstory is unceremoniously shoved into infodump letters throughout the game.
Which Giger hallway is this?
It's easy to get lost in Lusst'gha. One mucus-covered vaginal passageway looks a lot like the others. Knowing what to do and where to go can become very frustrating very fast. It helps to have the walkthrough guide handy if you get stuck.
Who knew the Old Ones were so big on Quick Time Events?
Quick time events are the bane of any gamer. Lazy, obnoxious, just takes players out of the immersion. This game is full of them. Thankfully, there's few penalties for failing and generous time.
Lack of a save feature
Autosaves only. Would have been nice to have been able to save at certain points, particularly for Achievement and collectable hunting.
Combat
You're a lover, not a fighter. And it shows.

Overall
If you're into this kind of thing, go for it. It's one of the best I've seen for what it is. The weaknesses are really all in the gameplay; the scripted parts feel like heaven compared to janky combat and quick-time events. Once you've beaten it, enjoy the Chamber of Pleasures.
First game was awsome but this one took the win really love the story and the gameplay
Game breaking bug on Chapter 3, unable to pick up a pipe which prevents me from continuing the game.
Was enjoying the game but then there's a spot where you got to slam iron maiden doors to get a golden hand and it just doesn't work. I tried so many different things, watched videos to make sure I wasn't missing anything or doing it wrong, must've tried for about an hour or so, even tried another save file, that didn't work, so I just gave up.
A naughty work of art! Truly impressed.
7/10
It is good game, but I am still a bit disappointed because I had high expectation based of previous games. For some reason it is fun to run around mansion opening every drawer possible and examine random things for no reason. There are also nice plot twists, but some parts are way too morbid and disgusting for my liking. Combat is terrible, works relatively fine for a pistol, but not for knife. It is hard to describe, but overall feeling is just off.
Lost all my saves because of no Steam cloud :(
Lust from Beyond
A Horrific Journey into Madness
Lust from Beyond masterfully blends psychological horror with dark eroticism, creating a uniquely unsettling experience that only deepens the more you play. What might seem like fan service in other games is instead grotesque and twisted, fitting the game’s disturbing atmosphere perfectly.
Story and Setting
You play as Victor Halloway, a man haunted by terrifying nightmares that lead him to the eerie town of Bleakmoor. There, he embarks on a nightmarish journey filled with lust, death, and revelations that turn his reality inside out. The game’s narrative takes inspiration from Lovecraft, with design elements heavily influenced by Giger and Beksinski, and it shows in the nightmarish landscapes of Lusst'ghaa—a world shaped by twisted desires.
Atmosphere and Visuals
The game's environments, especially in Lusst’ghaa, feel alive. The walls breathe, pulse, and seem intent on devouring you, creating a constant sense of dread. The unsettling visual style amplifies the horror, though the option to censor nudity can disrupt immersion when pixelated bodies suddenly appear in scenes designed to unsettle.
Gameplay and Puzzles
Exploration and puzzle-solving are central to the game, though the puzzles themselves are rather straightforward. Early on, the solutions are practically handed to you via notes, but toward the end, the game presents more challenging, satisfying puzzles that require actual thought. I only wish this design had been consistent throughout.
The “essence” mechanic, introduced later in the game, feels like an afterthought. Its potential is underutilized, serving only to create paths or distract enemies, leaving much to be desired in terms of its impact on gameplay.
Combat and Enemy Encounters
Combat is initially a last resort, with running and hiding being the primary means of survival. However, once you acquire weapons—particularly the pistol—the tension fades. Running past enemies becomes almost too easy, and later battles, including boss fights, lack the punch you’d expect from a game with such a strong atmosphere.
Final Thoughts
Despite its flaws, Lust from Beyond offers a truly unique horror experience with its grotesque visuals, compelling world, and unsettling atmosphere. While the journey is more engaging than the destination, it’s still a game worth playing if you enjoy atmospheric horror with psychological depth.

This game at first glance was a pretty ballsy concept to come horror and erotica. This was my first erotica game and coming in I thought this could be like a psychological horror that goes in depth about the dangers of sexual frustration or similar to Eyes Wide Shut (It never did say anything about it in the description which I should've took notice of which is my fault) but it really failed in the end. It has good ideas despite what I thought it could be. It has very intense moments that actually make sense and not there for shock value but the story and everything else just went downhill halfway despite it keeping me entertained for the first half. Characters are very hit or miss, combat is janky (Like Rule of Rose Janky). It's a miss opportunity on what could a be ballsy one of a kind game but it fell flat. Despite it's flaws, it can be a decent game to some horror erotica fans as I do like the world design of Lusst'Ghaa and some the enemies look good but overall, it's a 6/10 for me. If you want to experience the story but don't want to deal with the adult erotic actions in the game, M edition will be just fine but it won't be as impactful and brutal in some moments. If it's on sale, I say it can be worth the experience, but it's really a one and done game, which makes sense with this type of game.
Spoilers:
The story when you join the Cult of Ecstasy, it really loses the appeal. While Lusst'ghaa is an amazing world to look since I'm a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft, H.R. Giger, and Beksinski (Another Reason why I got it), the puzzles and the magic you learn feel really, really slow and boring at most parts. Luckily I have the patience to go through and collect most collectibles but it really never feels worth it and most of the time I just want to get out of the world since the stalker enemies aren't that bad after the first few encounters. The monster design is pretty good. Some of the characters like Shackley Brothers, Mabel, and Jonathon Moon were good in my opinion while the others like most of the villains didn't have much story to them (Though I liked Lily's story) to really make them hate them or like them. Amanda's story felt very typical and her boss fight was very very boring. (I know the story of the first game, this is just for this game itself) The combat in this game should've never been added, it should've just been the magic used in Lusst'ghaa and that's it, the shooting and melee feels as bad as Rule of Rose (iykyk) but luckily you have options to avoid them but when you have to fight...good luck it will take a while. The endings really sealed it for me, when you get the object ending, it was frustrating to watch, talking about the most cherished memory (The most pointless part of the game that's just there for shock value) and he somehow misses it so much he off'd himself, i did wish he got over all the aggressive sexual behavior as a turning point in his life. I can understand of not having a Happy Ending, but if we close down Xu'thrar and not save Lusst'ghaa, should it stop Victor from having schizophrenic hallucinations so he can live on and lose the mutation he was having? And the accept ending is a fine ending to have if they try to do a sequel and have Amanda and Victor as the the antagonists. Also having a skill check from Dead By Daylight to progress the sex scenes made me laugh so hard I couldn't take it seriously. Also screw you for putting the skill check on for "Victor's Cherished Memory" and actually having to look to progress to the ending xD. (Also look up Mabel's trivia in the Lust from Beyond Wiki, I think we know what that writer likes most about Mabel).
A handful of unrealized raw ideas, dialogue that falls short of expectations no matter how low you set them, ridiculously stupid mechanics that only serve to waste your time, all together trying to hide behind the aesthetics of Lovecraft, Giger, Beksinski. It's bad, really bad.
At first when I saw the negative reviews of this game shoulda had the name "Blood from the Beyond" I thought it was just some basement dwelling weirdo who was expecting a strickly porn game.
Now i see they were right. This is a kink game for people who are into gore stuff and driving yourself insane due to 0 direction with puzzles. Do not buy if you want a puzzle game. ESPECIALLY do not buy if you want a porn game.
Weird
Pretty good game, some interesting puzzles. Looking forward to a 3rd instalment if it ever happens.
I want to preface this review by saying that I truly appreciate the goals of this game. I like what Lust From Beyond seeks to capture, and wish more games would try as hard as this game does. However, I have many issues with it. In summation, Lust From Beyond plays like a sex game that got cocky and tried to become a real game, and sex became an afterthought.
There are some decent frights and thrills in Lust From Beyond: interesting sexual tableaus here and there; sound design that very much meets the needs of the game; mostly bad performances (the main character can be unbearable) compensated by a select few good performances (namely Rhea and Johnathan); a couple of decent surprises, mostly cheesy jump-scares were effective, though not my cup-o-tea; and, considering the budget, great set pieces and graphics. Also, I quite enjoy throwing doors and cabinets open. I hope that a lot of time was put into this mechanic, because I appreciate it. There were also two cool puzzles. I particularly liked Chapter 11's closing door puzzle: I wasn't walked through it, and it was satisfying to solve on my own. However, Lust From Beyond fails in the departments of gameplay and story (especially combat and dialogue, respectively).
At times, the twists and turns of the plot tends to be painfully predictable (cliches and tropes aplenty) and the dialogue only compounds this issue--heavy handed rabble, at best. I want to applaud the pacing of this game, but it's hard to, considering the only things that kept me going were collectibles and my silent prayer that there would be something more on the horizon, something to make the tedious gameplay worth it. For the most part, Lust From Beyond fails to deliver. There are a couple of rewarding scenes and areas that do deliver on the cosmic sexual horror promises that it makes, but they are few and far between. I reiterate: this is a sex game that decided it wanted to be a real boy, and in so doing forgot its roots.
This game desperately seeks to fit into the cosmic horror genre with a sexual overtone, but fails to deliver on countless levels: The sanity feature is appallingly underdeveloped. Not only is the sanity mechanic 15 years behind its time, but the visuals and set pieces don't come close to the levels of horror I've seen in many similar indie games made in the last decade. The constant interruption of the protagonist is, unfortunately, very poorly written and equally poorly performed, subsequently harming the overall experience (although the 1st perspective is a keystone of the cosmic horror genre). The false sense of choice (in dialogue options) feels forced, as if added at the last second based on a focus group, and it left me feeling as though I were a child pretending to operate a toy spaceship. In other words, I was a witness to the story, rather than a participant. Finally, the story is cliche and rudimentary. Lust From Beyond isn't very Lovecraftian at all, apart from a few strange words to describe vaguely outlined gods and greater forces. The world of this game is tragically simple: like a terrible Hollywood fantasy film, poorly translated to an interactive media. Moreover, the gameplay isn't scary, immersive, or suspenseful: It's tedious and underdeveloped.
I will sloppily comment upon my feelings about the gameplay and design aspects here: The checkpoint/save system is wack, often forcing one to redo the most tedious parts of a level RIGHT before the point in which the player died or quit; the combat system is as primitive as System Shock (not a bad thing, necessarily, but it's hard to get away with this day and age); the survival horror aspects of this game totally work within its own parameters, and one will likely run out of provisions at just the right(/worst) time if they aren't taking advantage of their surroundings; the textures and environments feel repetitive, speaking to a lack of time/budget/expertise; some essential checkpoints are easy to miss (I walked right past the checkpoint and straight to the objective at several junctures, and I had to run back and forth between them in order to progress); also, there are a lot of problems with enemies, particularly with pathing. I ran into a couple folks who were running into walls, and they wouldn't stop for anything but a blow to the head. As well, some levels (namely Chapter 8) have very specific qualifiers to advance that were often two steps behind me. Drives me up the wall finding out I can't pick up a key item because Amanda hasn't told me to yet. Infuriating.
As well, I must mention that [LIGHT SPOILER, more of a dev note than anything] during the boss fight in chapter 11, after dealing environmental damage to the boss, being too close to the enemy when they get back up results in an instant game over. This is inconsistent, however. And odd glitch that could use the developer's attention.
This game feels like a work in progress. I wish the developers had spent more time/money on the story and mechanics, and less on the mediocre voice acting and graphics. I am disappointed.
it's nice
Beter than i thought and the DLC is worth it
Boring as fuck. Great atmosphere and HR Giger inspired scenery but that's about it.
Sexy, dark and scary; the perfect amalgamation of sex and horror. This one won't be for everyone, but for me its one of my favourite indie horror games.
Outer gods like horror porn with great atmosphere. It also has gallery.
Tired. I am tired, game is tired. Never expected to skip the snu-snu scenes but here we are. The quality of the game itself reminds me of WoDVampire The Masquarade: Bloodlines as in half baked, like someone definitely tried but didn't quite had the talent backing them up. Or the time. Or the intent.
I did do the 2 prequels and some of this but at the Theatre I just stopped after I had just given up and started murdering the oh so dangerous enemies. Game might have some amazing stuff later on, I will never know but somehow doubt it considering the utterly lifeless human models.
Did make me want to try an actually good Lovecraftian sneaky game, like the original Alone in the Dark. Hmm, maybe Forgive me Father, oughta have more action, might revitalize me after this game tried to bore me to death.
The controller are unnecessarily clunky and even with head bob and motion blur off it still causes nausea. Also the story isn't great or entertaining. Comes across a bit flat.
Right off the boat three things already kills any chance of turning me on.
1st; The game informs before the title screen that "immersion" will be better if you play it during the night and with headphones. Sigh.
Immersion is up to the player to decide on how to absorb it, if they have any of the means. Developers should be worrying about how to provide that immersion, not how I decide to have it. That intro message is like saying "if you couldn't feel the horror it's your fault."
2nd, game automatically translates the interface based on the OS language, instead of Steam's language. Rather not translate it automatically and let the user decide it instead. Not only that but, "censorship" mode won't save your decision. Prompting will always pop next time you run the game.
3rd, I never played a game that automatically accepts a joystick without properly changing UI input. In order to change the symbols on screen, you need to manually alter the input in the options, even after you have already been prompted to use a joystick.
I became a number
After the intro, around 40 minutes of gameplay I was suddenly blessed by very interesting objectives.
𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫, 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰, 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐱, 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭, 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐬, 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐲--
All while the main character was talking to himself, to alert me what I was supposed to think etc. so I could SMELL the low-effort "story" trying to keep me at it and it wasn't working. While I was coming back and forth, searching for bags and boxes I finally started laughing. Soon enough even the doors and the objects of my pain were laughing back at me, until my laughter became manic. I startled my cat several times, I complained about bad life decisions that brought me to this point. That's fourth wall horror right there. When you don't give a xit about the object, but the object gives a xit about you.

When my first assignment was over, a second one popped = find Lilly's bag! It took me 45 minutes to fulfill my duties, I started to worry if my refund time had already expired and if I would be literally stuck with this game. Most cutscenes are cut way too short, almost like avoiding to show the good stuff, it gets really irritating after some time. But then suddenly you get to have both stealth dynamics (trying like Agony did) mostly ineffective because AI is too forgiving, and that includes direct combat confrontation. These two logics can spice the gameplay up a bit if you resist all the bad nuisances, but I'm 89% sure that you won't.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319384250
Attention to details in some objects are decent, simple but effective graphics, ok sound effects, soothing ambience to creep horror in. So the game at least can hit a few good notes in some stuff, but sadly it doesn't matter because of cheap gamey stuff that keeps undermining it. Why did I take so long if the puzzle was so easy? Simple. Because I had no idea some dude would hide his average key inside a well locked puzzle box, or that I had to perform a step-by-step action to find a simple thing inside another.
Hottest stuff = cut short, barely visible. Annoying stuff = 40 minutes to perform. You have been cyberpunked.
Very original not
A caucasian male with a game hero voice and brown hair is looking for -insert generic game trope here- He starts from a simple pacate life -insert generic horror trope here- and go all the way down to a plot twist -do it again here-. So the Giger design and other artistic works were used as inspiration for visual design that may keep things interesting, but does it holds up? I'm 89% sure it does not. You can see how the owners of this game slowly leaves as basic tasks gradually lowers down in comparison, while using the Steam achievements. This casualty is present in most games, including heavy weights like Witcher 3 or GTAV but not with basic beginner tasks.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319394794&fileuploadsuccess=1
That can mean a lot of things, such as; only buying a game to have cards, this usually happens with cheap games. More casual players could do so because they already want to check some other game. Maybe it just wasn't interesting enough. Whatever it is, I'm now part of the statistics and this game falls quickly to it just as bad as many other games like it. Maybe its the lack of Quality Assurance specially for PC. Steam is only interested to just sell hoping you won't notice anything. Until you can get to see you may have done a bad deal you may not be able to refund it anymore.
It was worse before
The game persists with the first thing of bad stories = character talks to himself all the time, its the cheapest way to move the plot without complex building. Game clearly don't trust your brains neither, giving unnecessary hints no one needs while the ones you need are void. If that's intentional, its like when a vendor adds water into the shampoo bottle.
Game still is better than "Lust for Darkness" since the previous game was so boring as I remember and silly at best. Lust from Beyond at least got some survival mechanics, you even have a mental breakdown meter, you get to use a gun for example then manage inventory. However, what sounds like a saving grace hardly survives the imbalance with all the rest of the game.
I see games promoting edgy "adult" things, and since I love this stuff I just grab as much as I can since its rare. Then when I finally play them, they're usually just silly or outdated, sometimes so weak its just naive-- as if someone just found out about the sex and horror recently and then starts throwing it around. Meaning; if you expect high quality edgy stuff, you're going to find out that sex was probably just a strategy to sell good and fast. Just don't expect it to be like a hot book reading or rare cinema (by the likes of Nymphomaniac) or any great gaming for that matter. There I just said it.
Instead of telling me how to have immersion, the game could have had better voice acting. I don't mean to disrespect the actors or actresses hired to work on this game just because I could find talents in Youtube myself. Also to have betters scripts, because dialogue sucks. Anyway, as our world slowly ends, I still prefer to see bad acting that is actually done by humans, than AI integrations like Amazon Games keeps defending, so at least there is that.
Final Score: 5.0/10 More than eighty nine percent of us will never finish this game
The only way to really hit with horror is to ABANDON gamey culture completely. Get rid of noises that shows "objective completed" and characters talking to themselves; make the game flow with the actual game, not just triggers to activate. Avoid classic American dreams like "family household" or "suburban hero" because dismantling its too obvious. There are a lot of writers unemployed right now ready to do something nice, but ultimately, a lot of indie projects are just vanity projects. Its the only explanation I have to convince me why games like that usually sucks.

I don't want to play as a rapist. Wouldn't have gotten the game if I realized.
runs like crap on steam deck one min fps is stable at 60 then drops to less then ten and becomes unplayable glade i got it on sale
Ok, this game was a lot better than what I was thinking it would be. Aside from the crude stuff the game itself is pretty interesting. The atmospheric design is fantastic. Not for the weak.
Edit:
Beat the game. Good game.
So ehh, anyone wanna join a cult?
- Bring your own mask
Definately a great experience for the Adult Only version of the game

I enjoyed the combination between sex orgy + twisted evil void horror with some kind of romance story telling in cult house. Great combo - I love it. Clapping.
