This game is truly one of the best games I have ever played, it's way too extra but that's what makes it so incredibly charming.

You can definitely tell that this is an old game graphics wise but for me it just adds to the overall vibe.

It's a nice game, has a good story, the combat is good. Nothing mind blowing but absolutely worth a try. It's a bit short, I've played it on very easy, but even then 13 hours is definitely on the shorter side. It's a pity that the sequels aren't available on PC.

Holy everything—holy shit, holy fuck, holy... crap? The joke is that the game circles a heavenly theme, and therefore I started with “holy” to... you know what? Let’s just dive right in.

Bayonetta features one of the most impressive combat systems I’ve ever experienced in gaming—and I don’t say that lightly. Every movement flows with remarkable fluidity. Each punch and kick left me in awe, not just because of how visually impressive it was, but especially considering the game's generation. Its adaptability is particularly striking. The ability to chain together a series of punches, kicks, jumps—and somehow trigger a unique variation of the sacred witch punch—is a testament to the depth and intricacy of the design. Whether the variation is an entirely new animation or a familiar one rotated 75 degrees, it exemplifies the developers’ passion for rich, dynamic combat. Each encounter feels distinct and engaging. Sure, you could just spam overpowered combos, but as with Street Fighter, that gets dull quickly. Once I faced my first boss, I realized how essential it was to diversify my moveset. From that moment on, I committed to expanding my arsenal and adapting to every challenge the game threw at me.

The visuals, though rooted in the PS3 era, are stylistically impactful. The game embraces moments of grunge and desaturation, evoking a raw, mature aesthetic that feels true to the era. Earlier titles fought to carve out a unique identity and often succeeded. In contrast, many modern games risk being overly polished or saturated, losing the distinctiveness that makes worlds memorable. Bayonetta avoids this by leaning into stylistic choices that feel authentic to its themes and world-building. Textures clash in ways that offer both personality and utility—allowing key gameplay elements like portals and interactables to stand out while enhancing the overall design.

Now let’s talk about Bayonetta herself. She’s one of the most elusive, stylish, and powerful protagonists in gaming. Snappy and unapologetic, she balances flamboyance and emotional depth with ease. Despite her seemingly unstoppable nature, she has limits—ones she’s willing to push for those she loves. These vulnerabilities provide some of the game’s most emotional moments, especially when her attempts to protect others end in failure. It’s a clever way to subvert expectations while staying true to her character. As a protagonist, she remains consistently compelling. Her aloof confidence never overstays its welcome, and the developers did a commendable job ensuring the cutscenes remain punchy, purposeful, and full of character. Her arc, while subtle, is executed with finesse. We witness her evolution—from restrained warrior to nurturing protector—especially through her growing bond with Cereza, culminating in that beautifully tender moment when she lays her down to rest. Just... damn. Beautiful.

One minor gripe before we talk about Luka— my personal favorite side character, Enzo, deserved more screen time. He had serious potential, but after the first two chapters, he all but vanishes, never really receiving the development or payoff his introduction promised. The same goes for Rodin, the stoic gunsmith-turned-bartender. His gravitas and presence warranted more narrative weight than he was given.

Now onto Luka, my second favorite character. What a gem. I love how he just shows up—one moment you’re unleashing unholy hell on angels, the next he drops in and somehow makes everything ten times more entertaining. His persistent attempts to be helpful, paired with his self-aware humor, struck a chord with me. He’s the perfect enhancer—elevating the humor, emotional stakes, and climactic beats by simply being there.

As for the enemies, they radiate personality. Despite sharing design language that makes their affiliation clear, each enemy type stands out. There’s no confusion over what moves to prepare or how to counter. You’ve got spear guys, ranged freaks, chunky brutes with tower shields—even that terrifying Beavis and Butthead-ass electric-fire duo—every enemy leaves an impression. Each encounter sparks a new variation of “oh shit” and I loved that.

Boss fights? A+ across the board. Like the standard enemies, each boss has its own rhythm. I appreciate how the game introduces them thoughtfully—your first encounter with each is about learning their patterns, and just as you master them, they return later to test your growth. Shifts in pace and strategy happen fluidly. Take that flying monster, for instance: after pelting you with projectiles from the sky, the game suddenly demands precision—forcing you to dash across airborne platforms using Witch Time, adapting to altitude and momentum. These encounters transform, and always in a way that feels bespoke to the enemy in question. Perfection.

Let’s touch on difficulty. Yes, this game is tough—even on Normal. I plan to attempt a Hard run, but honestly... I need a break. It’s frustrating. But like any game with a steep learning curve, once you internalize the basics, progression feels natural. The true test lies in boss battles—rightfully so. And because of their multi-phase design, they avoid repetition while still demanding mastery. Combine that with the deep combat system, and it’s an extremely rewarding experience.

Last point—cutscenes. I adore the approach here. The blend of full 3D animation and stylized film-roll stills adds a distinctive flavor. Oddly, the slideshow-esque moments often feel more alive. Why? Because they ask the player to participate—to fill in the gaps. Hearing a sound while seeing a frozen frame? That’s more impactful than over-directed cutscenes. It invites interpretation and personalization. That said, the game wisely chooses which moments to fully animate. These are the scenes the developers want to control—where their narrative voice takes over, guiding the emotional and thematic tone with purpose. The balance between “we’ll show you” and “you imagine it” is beautifully executed.

Also, get outta here with that "Jeanne is good now" shit, I hated her from the start and she's now forever irredeemable to me... man, didn't mean to get mad there, OKAY-

So yeah—awesome game. 10/10. Would absolutely recommend.

Bayonetta is probably the best hack and slash there is. It's fun, dynamic, and the main character is to die for. Though personally I could live without this games version of fly me to the moon.

Played for ~11 hours, and I can confidently say Bayonetta is one wild ride.

Combat is incredibly satisfying—fluid, flashy, and rewarding once you get the hang of dodging and combo timing. Witch Time never gets old. The game constantly throws new enemies, crazy set pieces, and absurdly over-the-top boss fights your way.

Bayonetta as a character? Pure confidence and chaos. She somehow makes high-heel guns look cool, and the whole game leans hard into that outrageous energy. It’s ridiculous—but it knows it, and that’s part of the charm.

That said, it’s not perfect:

The camera can get a bit wonky in tight spaces.

Some QTEs are instant-fail and annoying.

The story is... well, it exists. Don't overthink it.

But if you're into stylish action games like Devil May Cry, this is definitely worth trying. Even with just 11 hours in, I can see why it’s a cult classic.

Ugh I love this game so much I've put so much time into it on Switch it's such a shame that Platinum had to sell out to Nintendo of all people to keep the series going I wish Sega would show Bayonetta some more love our girl deserves it we need the other three games at a stable frame rate on Steam like seriously the graphics in Bayonetta 3 is killing me.

Best game ever. I recommend you all to play with your controller. You just need to use COMBO not SPAM (ik it's work but, bro... just try to use combo man.) For me this game is "ABSOLUTE CINEMA", it's just perfect. The story is perfect, gameplay is perfect, and ofc the music is really really good (trust me bro"fly me to the moon" is fire) I just really really love this game man. And also if you wanna try hard mode it's literally hard. JUST BUY THE DAMN GAME MAN!!!

Good story, good gampelay, best soundtrack (one of the greatest from the series). Gamepad is a must to play the game because keyboard and mouse controls are uncomfortable to play this type of game (for me atleast). The discounted price are a bit expensive, it should be cheaper for 10+ years old game.

This game is really amazing. If you play through it i highly recommend learning a technique called "dodge offset" and it makes the combat VERY engaging. If not for the combat, the story is still really entertaining, great characters imo.

This is the kind of game that deals critical damage to the soul of any sensitive young man or lesbian who plays it. I am one of those two. I will not say which one.

Good game but the PC port is terrible. Settings randomly change everytime you open the game (some not so important, some important like UI or turning the sound off), menus won't load, trying to pause the game may cause it to crash, opening the items menu may cause the game to crash, text and models won't appear. Everytime I restart the game, which is quite frequent due to all the bugs, I'm scared a new game breaking one is gonna show up.

The gameplay is overall solid and fun. A few cheap hits you can't really avoid the first time around, expected in a game like this but still annoying.

Recommended for: If you like third-person action games with completely over-the-top combat then Bayonetta is certainly worth checking out. I could write pages full of how crazy the action is but this is just a game where you’re best off watching a few gameplay videos to see whether you like it or not. It's simply the main focus of the game.

The story is decent but can feel a bit generic. You can easily just blast everything in sight and finish the game without paying any attention to the story. It does have good voice acting, especially the voice actress of Bayonetta herself is amazing. The game also has decent keyboard and mouse support, but I think it's still recommended to play with a controller.

My experience: I had an amazing time with Bayonetta (the game I mean). I normally don't play these kinds of games because I'm not very good at them. I usually play with keyboard/mouse since I struggle using a controller, but in this case I preferred a controller because I could just mash the buttons like a maniac and still beat the game (at a low difficulty setting, I admit).

I was actually surprised to see Bayonetta on Steam. At first I thought Nintendo had the publishing rights, but it seems it's actually Sega. Thank the Umbra Witches for that, because Nintendo most of the time has a stick up their ass when it comes to PC gaming. This is once again proven by the fact that despite the success of Bayonetta we will probably never see Bayonetta 2 & 3 on Steam because Nintendo does own the publishing rights to those games. Well, at least we have this game (and the fanart), which we can enjoy.

Sidenote: I’m thinking of starting a support group for people like me titled "I bought Bayonetta because I had a childhood crush in the 80s on the Baroness from G.I. Joe and developed a weakness for sexy ladies wearing glasses..."

Ill leave a more in depth review later, but this is one of the most incredible games ive played in recent. Heck, I had more fun getting plat medals in this game rather than p ranking levels in Ultrakill. The incredible OST and combat just flows so smoothly, along with the animations and art. Will be praying for Bayonetta 2 and 3 to be ported to PC.

Shame we never got the other games on PC. Bayonetta is great, aside from some really annoying enemies on higher difficulties. I think i prefer the tighter gameplay of the DMC games, but Bayonetta's gameplay is always a fun visual spectacle.

I love JJBA. I also loved this game and found the journey similiar.

I mean, who would not like magical strippers with guns? I especially loved this game with it's artistic design, and how they processed it into a game. Like cutscenes were really fun, environment was really well designed and had a whole theme going on. Even songs were complete with the game. Also lore was interesting. Overall there is an undeniable quality with the artistic side of the game. Due to old technology, it has a lot of cutscenes but really keep in mind that this is an old game. It is already amazing that they made it work compatible with current technology. You can just play the game for beating monsters up and seeing amazing views.

Despite being an old game, I still enjoyed it a lot. I should accept that gameplay feels extra clunky today, but still playable. I am not really experienced with hack and slash games too but still enjoyed it. Okay, I was playing pretty bad almost every chapter but it still satisfied me.

To sum up, if characters and theme interests you just give it a try, just keep it mind that game could feel really old.

It's a good game, but a VERY VERY shitty port that bearly works and constantly has game breaking and mood killing issues. Id recommend staying away from this port.

My Specs were : Intel I7-10700k Clocked at 5.2ghz all cores. A RX7800xt (16gb). And 32GB of Corsair vengance 3600mhz DDR4. I played the game on a SSD and was running over 100fps at 1440p. These bugs aren't lag. nor are they from poor specs. Just because you don't have these issues doesn't mean they don't exist.

Truly a weird franchise to have become nintendo exclusive after the first game.

The Real Deal Bullet Witch. Very few games have as much flamboyant style or gameplay depth as this. Subtly influencing action games since it first released even if it seems like no one realizes. Make no mistake, it's no cakewalk, it will beat you up until you master the what it offers and probably still after that.

This game is good but has a few problems, like some just flat-out bad bosses. Also, the camera angles get very hard to control. overall, I had a good time as well 7/10.

Coolest female character in a video game. Combat, bosses, and music that rivals/surpasses those very aspects in Metal Gear Rising. If the last little handful of bosses were cooler It'd probably be 9/10 but I'd give it a 7.5/10.

Just got done finishing bayonetta and I can say this is a very good character-action-game. The freedom to do different combos is endless, especially when you learn how to dodge offset. There is a big difficulty spike near the end of the game, but it's nothing too major.
I really enjoyed my normal difficulty playthrough with this game and I might return to it in the future to do it on hard.

If your a fan of hack and slash like gaming then Bayonetta is the game for you. If you have played other Bayonetta games this one does not scale in difficulty the same way. This games difficulty scales pretty quick and the normal difficulty rating is definitely harder than one would expect if they have played other Bayonetta games at normal difficulty.

One of the best action combat games made. Fast, fun, well-designed, and stylish!

Very nice if you like strategic defense dodge fighting games. Has a harsh scoring system but it does not hinder you from playing and progressing to other levels. You can get away with button mashing to defeat enemies but i recommend to search up better ways on improving your combat skills since the game has plenty of complex combat features like weapons, combos, and many more.

I won't pretend like I had any clue what was happening during the story, but Bayo was serving the whole time. No one can do it like her. Besides all that though this was a really fun game! Some enemies and bosses are more irritating to fight than others, but the combat is still really fun and it's hard not to enjoy the big spectacle of it all. It's pretty funny that the series became a Nintendo exclusive after this. I might get to those some other time.

Great game even after all these years. Tho coming from an era passed, I'd say it still holds its own - combat is fun and engaging and challenging, and graphics are pretty revolutionary for its time, compared to some 3D games today it's still really good. Dialogue is cheesy but hey, that's it's charm. Also, if you want to blow off steam, this is a great button smasher.

Recommend it highly with controller - it doesn't officially have support for DualSense but if you use the defaults from Steam they'll work just fine.

In Devil May Cry, the cutscenes with off the wall, insane action and spectacle are your reward for a difficult boss. In Bayonetta, the off the wall, insane action and spectacle is normal. Fighting on top of a flaming collapsing plane and killing angels with guillotines and iron maidens is only the intro, and you get to play it.

It's impossible to really explain how masterfully Bayonetta executes every single element and makes it, at the least, fun. Even the weakest element of the game, the story, is well done and entertaining, with every single character having memorable, distinct personalities with great mannerisms and dialogue. Enzo, the character who's the butt of the joke and used for the game's equivalent of a D rank because you fucking suck at the game, is one of the most entertaining in the entire game.

It never stops with Bayonetta. Every element is built to provide the most entertaining, fun and batshit insane power fantasy you will ever play. Don't just stop here, get a Nintendo Switch and play the other games. Do it. This is just the surface of what this underrated, off the wall series has to offer.

5 hours in and the game started to repeatedly crash. I read online that it isn't really compatible with modern operating systems. You would need to have the ability to run the game on Windows 7 to get it to play.

Bayonetta… I really wanted to play this game in my backlog and I have finally started playing it! I am currently 8 hours in the game but here is what I thought so far. Before I start the review, initially I played a very brief portion of the game on PS3 a looonggg time ago which was very unbearable to play, but now playing on PC it's a WHOLE different experience with everything being so smooth. Now let’s begin:

• Particularly the dodging and Witch Time I enjoy the most because of how instantaneous it is compared to other action games I played. In fact, the attacks and movement all feel instantaneous, responsive and not having any kind of delay. I knew the duration of the Witch Time felt inconsistent but apparently (and this is a thing only in Bayo 1) the closer you time the enemy attack, the longer the witch time.
  
• I always remind myself NOT to always button mash the same combo (another game by Platinum I played, Anarchy Reigns, taught me this the hard way…) and instead look at the combo list and Skill commands to fight effectively (there’s also a guide on steam for that!)
  
• There is a very neat plugin for the game called Bayohook, very useful for practicing or forcing yourself to learn attack patterns against bosses (I particularly enjoyed this in the Jeanne fight ). You can also watch cutscenes in 60fps with this, but you might get some funny jitteriness with the characters.
  
• Story: ehhhhh I’m neutral lol. I liked reading the worldbuilding journal entries that you collect.
  
• Character and Enemy Designs: Also pretty great.
  
• Sound: Also great.

Don't buy this game in 2025. Clearly people were able to play this port at some point, but on my very fast pc this game was unplayable - enemies not loading, character falling through the world at the start of a level, cutscenes running at 1 fps, all sorts of issues and I couldn't find any solutions online. Gave up on it.
