Yet to be a better vr shooter with top notch gameplay loop. Only downside is how few the main missions are.
This game is my favourite VR experience. It's story is not the best, and the gameplay on it's service is quite simple, go in, kill some entities or get some item. But the way you have to prepare and plan the missions is the invisible main element of the gameplay. You can't just run in guns blazing. You will run out of ammo and be killed. It has a very slow pace to it and reminds me of the Call of Chernobyl Mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Furthermore it has the best gunplay and inventory management I have ever experienced. You don't click through menues. Everything is done with your motion controllers and body movement. Therefore every item physically exists in the world at all times, unike in older VR Games, where items in you inventory disappear. This leads to beeing immersed into the game.
This game is a must have for everyone who likes VR shooters.
Holy crap, this is one of the best damn games I've played in a long time. My only wish is that I could experience this with a friend, which is why I'm going to happily purchase the sequel one day.
Though, I will admit, the only downside was how underwhelming the ending was, but, hey, no game can be perfect.
But, for a VR Stalker-like, this game easily gets a 9.9 out of 10, would raise a shot of vodka for the devs.
Ive played many vr shooters and this is one of the greater ones with its simplistic but realistic firearm mechanics. It is also one of the most terrifying ones. My first death came from walking through the zone at night getting shot from some random outpost running to cover just to have another shooter a couple of headcrabs and some invisible boys find me. Followed by me running for my life just to hear a loud roar of something and falling into a crater and dying to fall damage. 10/10 experience after a change of underwear.
I was eating pineapples with a knife and got jumped by a headcrab who then swiftly died to that same knife. 10/10 best VR extraction shooter.
I absolutely love this game, I'm playing it with my valve index and it's the perfect amount of killing stuff and looting places that I love. the gun management is nice, weapon cleaning is a bit glitchy but once you understand how it works it's okay, the anomalies to find ads variety to the gameplay, I love it it's amazing.
Wow. I haven’t played games for several years, but then my son got a VR and I decided to try this game. The ones of you who remember the brick pile under your seat when a head crab first time jumped into your face in half life – will get the same forgotten feelings of being into the game. My son is now asking me to play every evening. Because I occupied his PC.
As for the game details – it’s all about the atmosphere, mechanics, and role play, despite it becomes predictable. I’m literally diving into this world. “Ooof!”, “Whoa!”, “Shi..”, “OH SHI..!!” – this reflects a small part of emotions in the game :)
The other tech details have been already described I guess.
Respect to developers, despite there are something to work on, it’s a small studio with limited recourses.
Kindly regards,
Ilya, 40 y.o. boy.
realistic gun experience, and as advertised it puts you in the radius.
I do not play vr game made for vr as they mostly suck. But this one got me. . . Although the missions can get a bit. .. or a lot redundant, except for the main missions that is, there was great attention to detail when it came to the weapons system. They are so accurate and even the single rounds you can handle and find and load. . . that is where this game shines. So much so that I sometimes find myself breaking out my own personal gun collection and putting them next to me as I play lol. All in all, I have been loving this game. Probably one of the best games I've seen that is made specifically for vr.
graphics not as great but game is flawless
bought the supporter pack because this game is awesome and its the coolest VR atmosphere i've ever put myself into, great game.
I don't get to play as much VR as I would like, but this is very fun for the time I get to play.
Into The Radius is a unique game in the VR market of games. Usually I'm very skeptical with new games, mostly as that VR games often times end up being very mid. This one in particular is a fun single player extraction shooter that is focused on a PvE gameplay. It has horror elements that really keeps you on edge and provides for an insane amount of hours of gameplay.
I can't make an opinion on replay-ability, I've yet to get security rank 2 because I've been playing it pretty slow. I've played this slow as that horror isn't something I typically play, thus it's especially scary while in VR! The sounds get me alert when I think I feel safe. Sometimes I get schizoid enough that I think my own footsteps are from baddies.
Overall, great game and I recommend others to play it as well. When I get done with this game, I hope to see some more VR games that are as good of quality and loved as this one is.
Not that detailed world as in Half-Life: Alyx, but this game is a lot better in many different ways. Love it. can't wait to finish this one and check out ITR2
A very good horror vr game, the gameplay and realism is really good and the 1.0 version is also very good, but buggy.
This is THE MOST immersive VR game you can play. I found myself hitting the floor because I was getting shot at, shaking while reloading trying to kill a spider. and lost in the absolute beauty of this game. PLEASE try this game, you won't regret it.
Opening cupboards can be finnicky.
Not starting with the headlamp unlocked was a bad choice by the devs. It's not fun constantly equipping and unequipping a torch whilst pilfering dark rooms. You can rush the unlock though.
The difficulty spike on the Factory map is insane. I was playing on realistic and ended up trapped behind a set of dumpsters multiple times, stuck. It was a skill issue, but, again, the jump is crazy.
Dumbed down STALKER, but that's fine because it's in VR, so it's a whole new experience.
Even with my specs this game is horribly optimised, that also includes jumping through 7-8 optimisation hoops.
Ignore this game completely & just enjoy fully modded S.T.A.L.K.E.R instead. Has to be a definite memory leak in this game.

Into the Radius: One of the Best VR Experiences Ever
Into the Radius is absolute madness—in the best possible way. This game takes you deep into a mysterious and eerie world where every step feels like both a challenge and a discovery. The story is cryptic and immersive, constantly feeding you small fragments of lore that leave plenty of room for interpretation. You won’t get all the answers, especially at the end, but that’s part of the beauty. The best story pieces are hidden within the world itself, rewarding those who take the time to explore.
And then there’s the gameplay—especially the gunplay. Superb. This is one of the most high-quality VR shooters out there, with realistic mechanics that make every weapon feel incredibly satisfying to use. Reloading, maintaining your gear, and carefully handling every situation are all part of the experience.
Now, I don’t even play horror games, so jumping into Into the Radius was a real challenge for me at first. But it was worth it. This game doesn’t just teach you how to play—it teaches you how to be a true survival explorer, how to stay calm under pressure, and how to conquer your fears. The enemies? Terrifying. But the worst part isn’t what you see—it’s what you hear. The sounds they make mess with your head, pushing your sanity to the limit. That tension, the fight-or-flight instinct kicking in, is what makes this game so incredible. Surprisingly, there are very few jump scares, since most enemies are loud enough that you’ll hear them coming. But sometimes when you do turn around and something’s just there… well, let’s just say it gets your heart racing.
Another thing this game excels at is forcing you to stay calm under pressure. Mid-fight, your magazine runs empty. Enemies are charging. You have seconds to reload. At first, it’s panic-inducing. By the end, you’re reloading with the precision of a Navy SEAL, and damn, does it feel good.
And let’s talk about clearing dark, abandoned buildings full of nightmare-inducing creatures, armed with just a flashlight and your rifle. Sounds terrifying, right? Well, it is, at least in the beginning. You get used to it. It’s so much fun—the kind of fun that makes you wish Ready or Not had a VR version.
The game helps you grow, easing you into its mechanics at a steady pace. The tutorial is good, the difficulty curve is well-balanced, and every step you take builds your survival instincts. Enemies become familiar, the map slowly reveals itself, and exploration is always rewarding.
A Few Spoiler-Free Tips for New Players:
1. Use the shooting range—every weapon is free to test, so get comfortable with them.
2. Check every item you find in the Radius—many are valuable and can earn you extra cash.
3. Don’t judge a gun by its magazine size. Some weapons with smaller mags are actually better than the bigger ones.
4. Some magazines can’t be bought—only found. Keep an eye out for them.
5. Explore and collect every clue—they’re not just lore, they can lead you to valuable finds. Weapons are expensive, but you can often loot them in the Radius if you search carefully.
Into the Radius is easily one of the best VR games ever made. It’s an experience that pushes you, scares you, and ultimately transforms you into a expert survial explorer. If you love immersive VR shooters, you need to play this.
An interesting concept, but the general jank with the controls is just too much for it to be really enjoyable.
Quick list of annoyances because I can't be arsed to make a full review :
- Virtual body rotates, following headset orientation. This means the stuff you want to grab (gun, items in your pouch, map...) will routinely be in random locations, forcing you to visually check where, for instance, your goddamn *hip* is so you can grab your gun. Unreliability for basic controls like this is a massive no-no for any type of game
- Game gaslights you with stealth : meaning it does not actually exist. Armed enemies will spot you from half-way across the map, in total darkness, while you're crouching, unless you're literally behind solid cover (no, bushes and stuff don't count). Meaning as long as there's an unobstructed line of sight, they'll see you, they'll shoot you, and they won't miss unless you keep running
- Items you put in your backpack and pouch will routinely just... move around. Like they sprouted a pair of little legs while you weren't looking to go say hi to their pal on the other side of your backpack. Grabbing stuff from your backpack is already a pain as it is when it starts filling up, but this makes it straight up unbearable
- Saves sometimes just... break. Like I'll die, load the latest autosave, and it'll turn out that it somehow saved AFTER I died, kept my full loadout, and teleported me to a completely random spot on the map. So I'll have to load whatever save was before that one.
- Blink movement doesn't know what to do with slopes most of the time. Meaning you can walk up them just fine with normal movement, but you'll just remain stuck in place if you try to blink up them. Normal movement makes me nauseous so I *have* to rely on blink movement.
The game is extremely fun and has many different mechanics which add to the inmersion. I know comparisons are odious but I can tell they got a lot of inspiration from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise. The game plays exactly as you would expect from a VR Shadow of Chernobyl mod or something.
I must add that I feel like the game is poorly optimized. I have the recommended specs and have to play in medium to low settings to get a decent framerate (which I think is essential in VR), but this is compensated by how good the game is.
There aren't that many really good VR games, but this I believe is one of them.
Privet Stalker! This game is goated with the sauce.
Excellent gunplay, excellent story, and immaculate vibes. Going out at night in this game might be one of the most intense experiences I've had in VR. If you have played STALKER (if you haven't , please go play it) then you are going to feel right at home here. Artifact hunting, camp raiding, stash management, and limited resources. It is the whole package, and it does it very well.
This game is absolutely amazing, some moments I really felt like I was there. I will not spoil anything but some monsters scared the crap outta me when I first met them.
At times I feel like the loneliest man on earth
and then i shoot a mimic in the head from 200 meters away with my dragunov and I that feeling goes away!
really good game, enjoyed the atmosphere combat is fun and can get pretty intense had a good time its biggest flaw is trying to reach for mags you have to lean forward so you can have enough reach to grab your mags
Truly one of the greatest if not the greatest VR games ever made. Into the radius is everything vr promised to be.
Few games have ever sucked me into the world and immersed me in a game as much as Into the Radius to the point I just forget that I'm in a game at all in a way. Everything has to be done manually from weapon handling to picking up items to loading guns to loading even the bullets into the mags. If you want to attach an attachment to a gun, zoom in your scope, clear a jammed round, you have to do it by hand and you will have to train yourself to do it in the midst of a nerve shredding panic inducing atmosphere.
Into the Radius is just relentlessly unsettling and creepy that it's not surprising so many people simply can't play it all the way but you owe it to yourself if you're a vr enthusiast to experience this game. Just power through it, once you learn it's tricks it's not so unsettling. I'm a life long horror junky and not a lot gets to me but the first time I got stuck in the radius at night, THAT god to me. By the late game i was specifically going out at night to avoid being seen by enemies and it was just another day in the radius.
This is a full blown incredibly ambitious and fully realized game like so few vr games can be. Don't think about it. BUY IT.
I was actually really disappointed with this one.
The controls are frustrating, the places where you store things on your body are hard to reach correctly, general mechanics of the game are clunky and very first gen VR. The backpack is AMAZING though! I absolutely loved the backpack storage, I seriously wish more games would do this. But honestly, the backpack was the only good thing I can say about it.
I know the game is pushing 5 years old, but it really feels older than that. Just, disappointed.
this game is utterly breathtaking it feels like your really there with the amount of things you can interact with that a lot of other vr games don't the fact that you get to use a guitar and make music is insane i've never seen a vr game let you do that I HIGHLY recommend this game
I love this game, the buzz of extraction shooters without just as much risk, keeping all the benefits of fear and amazing gameplay, this game is just something many years later
Not a terrible game, but incredibly misleading. Instead of some post apocolyptic bounty hunter type game you get a mystical ancient magic quest where you can talk to ghosts and the only enemies are these various black figures that just respawn after five seconds. I'm sure some people can like this game, but it just isn't for me and is much more boring than the trailers represent. I would not recommend this game.
At least in my experience, the force-grabbing in this game is clunky to the point of making the game unplayable. I only played the tutorial, but I could tell that having to constantly deal with a force-grab that only worked 1/10 times on items you are constantly dropping or looting would get frustrating extremely quickly. Judging by there being practically no info online about this problem, it's probably just a problem with my setup, but the point still stands that I only have the issue with force grabbing in this game and not in others like HL:A and Boneworks.
Love the game crazy things up and down and worry about a lot of creatures or unknown soldiers I wish I could play into the radius 2 but my PC wouldn't able to play it, an hellish to get a PC this time of year an last year.
World up down up down with prices with PC's ._.'
After playing Into the Radius 2 (early access), I've decided to give this first installment a shot too, and I was not disappointed.
It does feel less optimized than the second game, but because the second game is not finished yet, this is definitely a good replacement for now.
I love all the different types of weapons and the artifacts look amazing as well (better than the 2nd game imo lol).
The story was definitely interesting and all the little cassettes you can find throughout the maps are also a nice touch.
there's plenty of different ways to play as well, including with a few mods.
I'd wait for a sale though as this game is on sale quite frequently, but definitely worth the money.
I heard people say this game is scary and I thought "naah it can't be that scary you just shoot guys".
MY GOD IT'S HORRIFYING. The first time I played it I was literally shaking and sweating because I ran out of ammo and there was voices and thunder and aaaaaaaa
The monster design may be simplistic, but the atmosphere is truly terrifying in this game. I cannot play alone, because each sound freaks me out, be it the groaning of a metal tower suspended in midair, to the ghostly wails of memories trapped in the radius. Truly a unique experience, with some great gunplay. I'm always a fan of weapon jamming and degredation, just like in Far Cry 2
This is probably the best VR game out right now. This game takes all the things I liked about DayZ and pushes it into one of the most immersive VR experiences I've ever had.
Gunplay is gritty, but very fun. The combat and level design rewards skill, knowledge, and proper preparation really well. The atmosphere and sound design are a little bit intense, but can be toned down with mods easily, and this game kept me on my toes constantly.
Main complaints are the more obnoxious points of sound design (weak VA for the setting, some over-the-top SFX, repetitive enemy voice lines), some lack of QoL for base organization, and a bit of bugs getting me stuck here and there. Additionally, I wish there were more dynamic challenges, such as greater variety of enemies and how their AI interact with each other, or random/semi-random events and challenges would be neat.
I played most of my game with the scavenger mod with the shop disabled, and I really enjoyed the resource management experience, it made it a lot more immersive when I can't just buy infinite ammo.
A couple other mods I would recommend
- Distortion sound rework
- Quieter gas mask
- additional base storage (once you get to later missions/levels)
Overall a great experience though, very excited for ITR2's full release.
i wanted to get into ghost of tabor or some sort of looter shooter. Into the radius is the best solo Looter shooter ever. BEST imersive experience, sometimes i just spend my session organising my room and cleaning my guns waiting for the tide to reset. The game offers alot. and YES i know number two is out but its worth waiting until thats fully out to play it properly especially the multiplayer aspect. OVERALL play it ignore the other reviews.
Very scary until you get used to the game. Very fun to progress and upgrade your weapons after collecting items to sell out in the world.
Love the game, but really needs a proper physical gun stock support with good calibration, same goes to into the radius 2. Palun tehke ära!
HIGHLY recommend, the game is visually and auditorioly very well put together, engaging story, and well designed locations. Ammo is scarce, and the defense that bullets can offer is immense, so every shot feels like losing something precious. The missions are often a mix of terrifing self defense, puzzles, and stuggling to reload your weapon before one of the teleporting halo people come and slap you to hell.
Having played through this game, even though as of right now ITR2 is not yet finished, I will be going and buying it and the supporter pack, because this is a fantastic game
I really tried my best to enjoy this game. The concept of "stalker in VR" is a concept that on paper can be extremely fun, scary and immersive, but the way into the radius executes this is extremely disappointing. For example, this game is filled with bugs, especially with your character interacting with the world. Items constantly noclip out of the world which would be game breaking if the "force grab" ability wasn't present. Grabbing cabinet doors is very difficult to grab and open in one try resulting in me trying 10 times to open 1 cupboard door just to find nothing. This goes for desks as well. Hand held objects are prone to spas out when in contact with any solid world geometry. Interacting with guns feels very 50/50. For example, when trying to grab a pistol with my offhand, sometime the game will just not play the holding animation, or worse it will switch the gun to my off hand instead of my intended action. The gun cleaning system on paper is a good idea but in game it ultimately results in your in game hand moving erratically whenever you want to clean your gun with the toothbrush. Also the enemy variety is also lacking as your going to see the same 4 enemies throughout the entire game but some with stronger armour. Finally this game runs terribly even on low settings, my PC has at least the recommended system requirements and still struggled to pull 90fps. Currently the game is sold for too much money for how much jank there is in the game, even on sale. For the amount same amount you can buy this game for you could probably buy one or many other VR games worth your time and money
If you are looking for a VR game to really get into then this is it.
In my experience so far I've encountered barely any bugs, the only issue I've had with is performance but that can be almost entirely stopped by starting the game without the SteamVR application on.
INTO THE RADIUS is a fantastic game!
It is one of my VERY best!
What I do like:
Absolutely everything.
I would not want to change anything in this game.
They say there is NO PERFECT,
Well, in that case INTO THE RADIUS is as close to PERFECT as is possible.
You start playing - very difficult to stop.
The game does not let you go.
What I do not Like:
NOTHING.
I like absolutely everything in this game.
My suggestion:
I would like to suggest a couple of things to raise the IMMERSION even higher.
1. to add jumping (so that we do not have to walk around a tree trunk lying on the ground)
2. to add splashing sound when walking in water.
This game is worth every penny.
Strongly recommend to everybody!
First of a kind for me, I've never played a survival game before at least in VR. I can spend mad hours in this game alone by scavenging, organizing ammo, cleaning my weapons, pre combat checks, maintaining my gear, etc. you name it. I do love the weapon progression in this game, it super satisfying to take our armored enemies quicker with the right ammo type and caliber. Definitely recommend if you like survival shooters!
i dont know if it affects all weapons, but the smg i found completely ignores the position of the hand gripping the front of it. I can grap the front and then wildly swing my other hand in any direction and the angle of the gun is completely unaffected, which makes shooting at medium+ range very difficult. That in itself isnt that big of a deal, but given that the NPCs with guns can easily chew through your health and buying healing syringes is very expensive is a big nono
Also, cleaning weapons and magazines with the brush feels incredibly frustating
Im willing to give the game another shot if theres a setting that fixes the aiming issue or if only some of the two handed weapons are affected, but right now im not feeling like starting it up again
An excellent concept with underdeveloped and unpolished execution. Yes, it is VR STALKER, and it has many of that games "flaws" and good parts. It tries to do too much with the inventory on your body, which moves around when you look down(!) so I was always grabbing the wrong thing when that will get you killed. The ladder climbing up is bad and going down has a high chance of falling to your death. You have to make climbing down automated, at least optionally! The enemies are not even half baked, or the ones I have seen. They are just untextured shadows, which is really boring, and with the muddy visuals they often literally cant be seen. The music is great, but the sounds are grating, like the dumb sound the anomalies make. Going anywhere in the mostly empty world means walking really really slow, or running for a minute until you run out of breath. This eventually continues over multiple maps. Maybe the sequel addresses some of these issues?
Tarkov-style gameplay with STALKER/Roadside Picnic-style setting
Game feels fan-fucking-tastic to play and looks really nice (Quest 3) if maybe a bit heavy on the grey
Easily my favorite VR game to date
Just the right edge of mild horror mixed in with a VR combat game. Like poblano pepper levels. 1000 Scoville units. Creepy.
Deep weapon mechanics! I love how the complexity builds slowly and evenly. Somehow I found myself hoarding a dozen different guns and several types of grenades, meticulously cleaning a drum magazine with a toothbrush, and I never felt too overwhelmed by all the choices. On that note - the weapon maintenance is a delightfully unconventional game mechanic!
NOTE: Motion sickness warning! (you end up walking around a lot)
This game is great, highly recommend... the atmosphere is top notch the way everything seems frozen in time, game difficulty is well balanced, gameplay is fun and surprisingly realistic in terms of maintaining your gear and gun jams, ammo types, shooting and reloading... game can get pretty tense, even scary at times, not quite horror game stuff but enough to get the heart pumping 10/10
This is one of the best VR games out there. First time experiencing open world RPG shooter with an interesting story for a VR game. The only problem is the graphics. The idea is whats counts for me and overall this is an amazing VR game.
Dollar store brand STALKER for VR. It's rough around the edges and the story is more of a background focus than anything but it was one of the first games of it's kind in the VR space. Checkout the newer games if you want a better experience. Also pretty damn ugly with quest compression but maybe that's just my setup.
Worth a buy if it's five or ten bucks.
