Outstanding work! It gave me a purpose in my free time when I want to play something and I enjoy it very much.
It's one of my favorite VR game!
The enemies are uncanny, the ambiance and visuals are well thought and spooky, the gun handling is satisfying.
Taking care of your equipment may seem tedious at time, but for me I see it as necessary cooldown period from all the adrenaline I get from the radius.
Would recommend. Happy exploring!
I love this game If you don't want a completely S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience then this game is key, as it explores the small mining town of Pechorsk, Russia and you must research and find artifacts for the United-Nations-Pechorsk-Special-Commitee. If you however want a completely like stalker experience I'd recommend a game like Z.O.N.A. Origins as that would be the game for you. Though this game is a great beginning for first VR games.
This game is absolutely amazing!!! So much fun and so much detail!!
got stuck in a house attic on my knees shaking to reload my shotgun as i heared little girls laugh and footsteps right under the ladder to leave that place.
too scared to continue playing
10/10

Every day is HELL! ;)
Amazing game! Solid 9/10, must have if you own VR!
Here are the things I like:
+ Great Weapon handling (Turn on virtual stock for two handed weapons and your set)
+ Great Weapon and attachment selection (Pick what you think looks cool they are all usable)
+ Interesting world and story
+ Cool stamina system (Eat out of the can with your knife like a real warrior - actually a quote from the game! :D)
+ Having to prep before entering the Radius adds weight to your expedition, you really plan your loadout ahead
+ Open world with no forced pacing on the main story progression (My first playthrough was 40 hours, I took my time and enjoyed it)
+ There is a shooting range where you can test all weapons that you've unlocked for free! :)
+ All of your items are visible on your torso, pouches and in the backpack. I really hate how some VR games handle holstering weapons and items. Like, do they really expect me to ingrain into my muscle memory where every invisible triggerzone of every item is?! Hell no! It's like a 2-3 hour learning curve that can ruin the experience because you end up with items in your hands that you didn't intend to pickup (sorry for the rant).
Luckily in Into The Radius you can just look down and see where the items are and grab them... you can even choose where you want to store them by placing them there... what a crazy concept, right?
Here are the things I didn't like and would like to see improved:
- If you are using the index controllers then the game uses the position of the fingers to detect if you are grabbing an item/weapon. If you have sweaty hands like me then you know that some fingers can get stuck quite often. This can cause items to "stick" to your hands. I even added grip tape to my controllers to improve this which helped a lot but it still can happen. I personally think that full finger tracking is not necessary for this game.
- The world is predictable once you've completed the region
- The hit detection while cleaning your weapons with a brush is... questionable ( + Yes your guns can get dirty and will jam if you don't maintain them)
- You can't jump... well if you can I didn't figure it out. This lead to me getting stuck between rails on a railroad... just silly. Good thing that there is an unstuck button in the menu.
- Hitboxes of objects are pretty bad. I remember not being able to shoot a hostile through a collapsed power line. I couldn't hit them even though the entire body was visible. I also had to expose myself out of cover more than I would've liked.
- There is a stealth system in the game but enemies spot you so quickly when facing your direction that stealth isn't really viable.
So overall I would recommend this game. Even if I have some annoyances I don't think that any are dealbreakers and I did get used to them.
The developers really put thought into it.
My favorite moment was when I first cleared Bolotky Village as part of the main quest. I was too afraid to walk around during the night so I took shelter in one of the houses. I was in the kitchen and sat on the ground for the entire night. I had a flashlight on the floor and pointed at the entrance to the kitchen while aiming a shotgun waiting to blast whatever managed get inside. The night stayed silent besides the footsteps and noises entities passing by. I periodically checked my watch and stared into the radius.... That night was tense and one of the best experiences I had in VR.
So how would I compare Into The Radius to let's say... HL: Alyx?
Well they are completely different games.
HL: Alyx showed how a "Traditional" linear story driven game can perform in VR.
Into The Radius shows how a nonlinear story driven game can perform in VR.
Personally I prefer Into The Radius over HL: Alyx... now don't get me wrong HL: Alyx is a great game but it's a hot flame that burns out quickly.
In Into the Radius you choose the pace, you can go wherever you dare, experiment with different loadouts and weapons as long as you want... and I love that.
Honestly, one of the best games VR has to offer.
Like many have already expressed, Into the Radius is very STALKER-like with its atmosphere, which is fantastic. The enemies are well-designed and creepy, and fighting them never feels unfair. The weapons are done very well; almost all of them are very usable, and most can be obtained by finding them in the game world. There’s also a cleaning mechanic for these guns, which is very cool. If the weapon you want to clean is in a blue condition, you can clean it with a piece of paper and a ramrod. If it's in yellow condition, you need to first clean it with spray and a toothbrush. If it's red or orange, you have to take it to the store to have it cleaned for a fee.
The game plays around a simple system where you complete side missions to unlock main missions, which then reward you with new guns, gear, and sometimes new areas. These side missions are usually very straightforward, often involving either killing a group of enemies at a specific point or taking a photo of certain enemy types and then walking back to your base, which can be accessed from the point you entered. The game is quite spooky, with a lot of unsettling sounds, both from enemies and the environment.
However, there are a few things that personally annoy me after a while. The cleaning system, for example, while fun at first since no other VR game had done it, can get repetitive after cleaning your gun for the 50th time. Luckily, the devs let you pay to have your weapons cleaned whenever you want, so you don’t have to use the cleaning mechanic if you don’t want to. Another issue is with the manual reloading of magazines. Fortunately, the game lets you hold a box of ammo next to the mag, and it will slowly fill it, but even this becomes very tedious when using high-capacity mags, as you might have to wait a minute or two to reload a single mag that’s emptied in a few seconds of firing meaning you either have to spend a bunch of time in your base preloading a ton of mags or you need to bring a box of ammo in your backpack.
The distances between locations also feel a bit too long. As I mentioned, most of the game involves walking to an objective, then slowly walking back to a specific spot on the map to return to your base. This gets tedious. Trying to snipe in this game can be nearly impossible, since the developers have opted not to implement an anti-shake system, making it incredibly difficult to shoot accurately beyond 20 meters because of the natural schaking that's in your hand.
Overall, the game is very fun if it's your first time playing and you're okay with a bit of horror, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for something replayable.
It's interesting game. Well thought out.
It's slow paced and atmospheric.
What bothers me the most is the design of the enemies and especially sound design. Those look like a placeholder - something I would implement during the early development of the game but somehow it stayed that way.
I would still recommend this game since there are not a lot good vr games out there.
Easily one of my favourite VR games now. I was initially put off by the heavy focus on anomalies and the immaterial style of enemies, as I prefer a bit more realism in style; however, this quickly became a non-issue after I got used to them. Gunplay feels good, so do the physics. The progression system is engaging. The mechanics are great. A very solid title all around.
probably my favorite video game of all time... and I've played a lot of video games.
Best VR game out there. Is also terrifying - do not play if you become scared easily.
The gameplay loop and progression are almost perfect and the balancing is top notch.
Would highly recommend to anyone with a bit of experience in VR shooters.
This was one of my favorite VR games ever and then suddenly on the bomb mission, the bomb just disappeared. How could you make me love this game so much and then just rip away my ability to progress the story because it broke? I would leave positive review anyways but I have to leave a negative review because I am sad.
A must-have if you like the STALKER games and can tolerate running around in VR.
It's intense even when it's quiet. It's scary but in a way that eases off as you get familiar with the world. There's a lot to explore and loot and the looting and inventory are done well. There is an air of realism to it: as you search through drawers and cupboards, you'll want to keep your bag organized to find what you need in an emergency. You fill your magazines with the appropriate ammo and separate them in a way that makes sense. You maintain your weapons and plan your excursions and hope you make it back alive. And every time you do, trudging back into base safe and victorious feels great.
The only thing really disappointing is the loneliness. The base is empty of people; only computers and vending machines. But that only makes me not stick around for long—the world is big and there's so much more to see.
Really immersive game. The intensity of finding new enemies and scenarios that quickly kill you is amazing. I wish the mimics had more features so you can distinguish them from a distance. Countless times I have thought they were a police mimic only to get destroyed by a VAL. Highly recommend this if you have VR.
A S.T.A.L.K.E.R inspired VR game that is quite fun to play and is well made.
my only issue with this game is how annoying the gun cleaning system is. outside of that it is fantastic 10/10
Hella cool mechanics, very spoki.
Not the greatest on the Quest 2, but ig that is to expected, even then it is still very nice.
Abandoned, empty ruzzian game—just download it elsewhere. Imagine doing a price bump for a single-player game for Ukrainians during the war. Disgusting
Definitely different. Kind of has a cool idea behind it but I experienced bugs and the game play just didn't keep me.
It's quite unforgiving but if you love the Stalker games like i do, it's a must play
Great VR game.
Cleaning guns not that great.
Looking forward playing the next one :)
Love this game
Can't wait to play the sequal with a friend
Also, mods PLEASE
Great game! Looking forward to when number two leaves early access.
Quite a fun game. If you're into survival looter shooters then I absolutely recommend the game. The weapon system is fun, the enemies are designed really well and are fun to play against, the missions are great, and I think the story is great as well.
Probably the second best vr game I played and Half-Life: Alyx only beats it because of the better optimization and overall polish.
There is some junk and graphicaly it's not the best (though it definitely has its moments) but the gamepley is absolutely phenomenal.
It's not a realistic game by any stretch of the imagination, but it's fun and very immersive. Things simple as weapon cleaning and organization of your base are oddly enjoyable and break up the oftentimes hectic missions really nicely. I can't wait to see what they can do with ITR 2 after steady updates, but in the meantime this game is 100% worth picking up.
Additionally with the steam version you can choose to install the 1.0 version of the game by going to the beta tab. 1.0 may as well be its own separate game; a completely different map with different gameplay mechanics and its own missions. 100% worth trying if you finish the current build and want to tackle the zone in a whole new way (and don't mind less polish than the current build).
In short it's my favorite VR game at the time of review probably only to be surpassed by it's own sequel, I fully recommend.
ts too scary i didnt evne make it past the tutorial man
Has a nice story and is probably the best FPS VR game at the time of writing this
Recommendation to elevate the mood of the game: search up some 1940's Russian music and put it on while playing this game. Nothing like listening to some old Soviet Union tunes while walking through a Chernobyl-esque environment, a rifle slinged across your back, and a cigarette in your mouth in VR.
I've spent a lot of time in this game and I enjoyed all of it. One of the better VR games I've played.
That said, I didn't really like the ending. It was an interesting twist I suppose, but its implications just didn't sit well with me. That's just personal preference, though.
Incredible gun controls and a good story. easily one of the best vr games
this is in my top 3 vr games of all time the gameplay and gun mechanics are great and i really hope the second game is just as good if not better than this
I'm not a die hard vr fan. I enjoy it, but I never really loved it. This game really changed my perspective on vr, I LOVE playing this game, its my favorite experience on vr by far. I recommend any player of any experience level in vr give this game a try.
i realized i beat the whole game like two times and never wrote a review
its cool ig
This is my current favorite VR shooter and it has been for some time now!
My first and most prominent reason I like this game is the difficulty options. That may sound really boring but hear me out. You can change the base difficulty or you can tweak the individual smaller options for a custom experience. You can increase the number of enemies, decrease their health, and increase their damage, making a hardcore mode where you and your enemies die in a few rounds (or in any other combo you wanted from those). You can change the amount of money rewarded from missions, from selling gear, how much gear you loose when you die, how maintenance your weapons require, the number of anomalies and their damage, and the list goes on. I love this because I was able to tweak the settings to create an experience more perfect for me.
I loved the weapons and being able to manipulate them. The firefights were tense as my slide locked to the rear, I began muttering obscenities while ducking into cover, grabbing a new mag, slamming it home, and hitting the slide release lever. Or I just stupidly forgot the weapon had a safety and left it on to got gunned down wondering why my gun would not fire.
Looting in this game tickled that Fallout, Skyrim, etc, loot goblin part of my brain as I opened cupboards, grabbed everything in sight, and shoved it into my pack to sell later.
The gun play just felt good most of the time. I did have some occasional issues with rifle sized weapons getting hung up or shifting when I was not moving (I believe it had something to do with the weapon clipping with the player model but I cannot say for certain).
I really enjoyed being able to explore the maps and find all the different vistas placed there. I just wish there was more!
The atmosphere was superb and lonely. It was a unique feel and with the setting established even the glitches seemed to just blend in with the apocalyptic background.
I cannot currently think of more to say. Grab this game on a good sale if you enjoy looting, shooting, and trying out different cold war era(ish) firearms against anomalies bent on killing you in a strange lonely wasteland.
Gripes:
I wish the game had better placed weapons/weapon caches that encouraged the use of weapons you found. As it stands there is no reason to acquire the SKS (only found I believe in the 4th area (the game is open world so you can go here anytime) but in the 3rd area you can find AK-47s, AK-74s, etc, which are just outright better in all respects.
Overall I really like this game and would highly encourage others to try it out. My biggest problem is that the game ended, I just wanted to keep playing. Grab it on a good sale if you are not too sure, but otherwise I would say its worth the current full price of $30.
Into The Radius is the best 'exclusion zone' game, ultimately surpassing any of the STALKER games, official or community-made.
It is one of the top five VR games yet made.
It is the finest single-player shooter in VR, in combined terms of the quality of the enemy AI and player-stealth, the quality of the gunplay, and the detailed environments and variety of enemy spawns and behaviours.
It's a large game, and extremely satisfying - my play-through took 72 hours across several months, and I was still enjoying it as much as ever by the end despite generally suffering extreme problems with attention span and commitment to videogames - yet the ending also came at a welcome time, when I still wanted more but felt satisfied to finish rather than burn out or get bored. It was well-paced, as a sandbox game with plot you approach in your own time, and never felt like too much of a grind or like it was rushing me.
With the sole exceptions of players who are uncomfortable with realistically dark night-time in a survival-horror experience, or players who wouldn't enjoy an undirected experience in which you learn for yourself how to survive the zone (after some helpful tutorials), you should absolutely buy it. All VR gamers owe themselves this experience. And push the difficulty as high as you dare, it remains a tense, challenging but deeply satisfying experience with minimal frustration at its highest difficulty level.
Buy it! Then come play the co-op sequel with me one day!

Extra details and explanation below for those who want them:
Obviously H3VR has better gun interactivity - of course there are dedicated games about indoor stealth - and there are games with higher fidelity assets and lighting, like Alyx - but Into The Radius has managed to combine excellent tactical gunplay, the best AI we've seen in VR yet (and, frankly, AI pretty much on par with the classic flatscreen examples like Halo, STALKER, FEAR etc), fantastic audio atmosphere, good visuals, and compelling open-world survival-horror... into a complete package far more rewarding than anything else in VR so far.
It brought all of that together into a medium-scale open-world game of multiple interconnected zones in which your tactical planning will decide how challenging, frightening and rewarding the day-to-day experience will be, timing your excursions with the tidal activity of the Radius (Souls-esque resets on a timer rather than upon death), and with the threat of nightfall on a constant day/night cycle. It offers one of the most detailed depictions of equipment maintenance, ammunition management and inventory/weight management of any game yet made, with solid performance (until you fill your personal quarters with too many guns and artifacts like me and tank your framerate) and a nicely paced progression curve that incentivises careful planning of missions and thoughtful investments balancing the costs of ammunition versus what you can salvage from the zone.
I've never played an action RPG with an economy this well-balanced - you can genuinely ruin yourself financially by making bad decisions at high difficulty, expending more on ammunition and medical supplies than you make back on missions if you're incautious. Yet you can also make a large and very satisfying profit if you get lucky with loot and manage your expenditures well. There's a huge variety in cost vs performance between different weapons, ammunition calibres, and quality of ammunition. Balancing your survival needs against the firepower you can afford to purchase, the weight you can afford to carry into the zone, and the profit you hope to extract with is an incredibly satisfyingly learning curve to move along.
I'm in awe of just how well tuned the game is in terms of natural player-learning of how the tools work, how the Radius and its mysteries and dangers work, and how the game sustains the escalation of risks, rewards and the unlocks of new toys that meaningfully change how you can engage with the game, from an ignorant and terrified runner with an empty pack, hungry but fast, gripping a rusty and unreliable Makarov handgun - to a heavily armoured specialist with a carefully balanced inventory full to the brim with specialised ammunition types, tools, rations and explosives, trading their usage of ammunition for their ability to still carry the best loot home to fund the next excursion.
Despite the game being noticeably 'sub-Alyx' visually, it has much more detailed environments than most other VR games and sustains extremely reliable performance on my 2020-era i9-9900k and 2080 Super rig. Its environments are vastly larger and more open than Alyx's linear corridors and contain a great number of interactive containers and hidden secrets.
I cannot overstate how good the lighting system is, ITR being one of the rare modern games to depict true darkness - deep inside a building, or outdoors in the middle of the night you are simply blind - you *need* tools to help you see at night to have any chance of navigating safely, avoiding enemies, or engaging in combat successfully, and this has a huge impact on your tactical decision-making and on the game's stealth system.
Winding down, I think the last thing I want to emphasise is that I played at the maximum difficulty setting and found it tremendously rewarding without being frustrating. You will get killed, you will get unlucky, but you will learn from it and make better decisions in future - such as acknowledging that in a horror setting, a fully automatic rifle with a full magazine is sometimes a survival necessity when multiple nightmarish entities hear your distant gunfire in the middle of the night and rush you without warning. It's the kind of game that offers you such a huge variety of tools and options and approaches to combat that it gives you room to make intelligent mistakes and pay the price for them. I love it.
Thanks for reading, I hope this review helped you make the right decision - I think very few VR gamers wouldn't get something out of Into The Radius if they have a taste for firearms combat, exploration and sci-fi mystery =)
Very immersive and fun. 12/10
first thing i did when i got my first gun was go "can i shoot myself?" youre never gonna guess what happened next. i died to death. i havent even finished the game i just loot goblin everything into my safe house. Been taking my sweet time cuz theres a lot of replay-ability in this game i HIGHLY recommend getting this game if youre into survival looter shooters 10/10 game.
It is also mod supported and i recommend getting the scavenger and bullet lighter mods!
i can confirm that this game is good
Slept on this game for way too long, only gets better the longer you go.
One of the best VR games.
A mixed bag that I recommend for the gun play, world building, and STALKER vibe but the ending left a rancid taste in my mouse.
There's a lot of things to like: progressive difficulty, weapon progression, better than average world building, great weapon handling, great bullet physics, the best inventory system ever conceived, and a mystery to get immersed in. The stalker elements consist of: hunger, bullet drop, a large selection of mostly soviet-era weapons, dangerous enemies, a dead landscape, artifacts and anomalies, scary noises, and a recurring global event that strongly encourages you to GTFO of the zone and into safety. I should also mention that the weapon cleaning might not be for everyone, but I thought it was better than the alternatives. In any case, it can be skipped entirely by purchasing weapon repairs. I do with that weapon maintenance more closely resembled real life, rather than just "brushing its teeth."
Unfortunately, the game is marred by questionable decisions and laziness. Take the enemy design for example: this is a dark game and every single enemy without exception is completely black or translucent-ish black. This is very boring. Another example is the rate of weapon progression, where you unlike up to 5 tiers of weapons for purchase. I found there to be 1 or 2 tiers too many, and I frequently found myself barely able to pay off a purchase before already unlocking the next tier of weapons. This leads to min-maxing weapon selection, resulting in only a few weapons that can be justified. Finally, where STALKER has the awesome emissions which were dramatic events with high stakes, this game has essentially has no visual impact and is more inconvenient than dangerous. Moving on to laziness, the developer did not bother to ensure all weapons aligned with the controllers in such a way so as to be compatible with players using a gun stock. A fair number of the weapons, including many of the late-game weapons you will need to use, will simply not work without radical adjustments to your stock. This necessarily makes it impossible to select two of those weapons for your load out. This kind of thing shouldn't be happening.
Then there is the ending. It is among the worst I've ever encountered. You will not find out what the radius is, why it is, or your relationship to it. You won't even be given enough information to make a guess. What little information you are given, about Katya--the white girl--comes from an unreliable source, leaving who she is and why she is there strongly in question. It makes the mistake of offering you multiple endings, but of the variety where you "push a button" for the ending you want. The choices you need to make lacks any logical explanation. The consequences of each choice are arbitrary, having no logical connection with the action you choose to do. Worst of all, it is strongly implied that all of your actions and choices from the beginning of the game through the ending have no meaning or consequence. This is anathema to immersion--I can't even fathom why this creative choice would be made. The best I can reason is that the develop doesn't even know what the radius is or why anything happens. The concept never developed past the "wouldn't it be cool if" stage of thought. It really makes me question if I want to get invested in the still-in-progress sequel.
Despite my complaints, the journey was worth the price of admission and the miserable ending. Shooting guns in VR seldom feels this good and worlds are seldom this interesting to explore. For every misstep, the game does 5 things right.
I played this one the most out of my VR games library and I must say this is the best game that was made for VR so far. Better than Halflife Alyx in every way except for the optimization.
The lore, the visual design, sound design and gameplay mechanics everything provides unique experience and works well together. The level of spook is spot on. Not shitting my pants but still. The only time you can truly relax are when you in a safehouse.
Shooting and gun handling is very realistic and satisfying.
If it weren't for the sometimes horrendous performance with huge frame drops and stuttering, I would have given it 10/10, but as it is, I'll have to give it 9/10.
super fun game, also traumatized me so thats cool
Yes, it really is a VR STALKER! But with its own story of the zone, anomalies and enemies. Masterpiece
Needed more time in the oven, game is still good. One of the most panic inducing vr games I've played
i wanted to like it , but noooo , your gear on the body keeps moving around , trying to paw at a mag is sooo bad ,
good for autistic stalkers
you can decorate your shelves real good
Played Stalker? Looking for a VR equivalent? Enjoy spending more time prepping for than actually doing missions? Then this is the game for you! 10\10 had the tar scared out of me many times and spend many hours hand sorting loot.
Shockingly no major crashes or glitches in any of the hours Ive played it.
The game does lead you to the ending without telling you so be aware of that.
Also if you're having issues with performance I recommend turning down "geometry" at the bottom of the list.
The only thing I never did try was subsonic ammo. Later in the game only high power ammo can kill the enemies which makes Subsonic pointless and thus full stealth pointless (unless your hands are steady enough to shoot a suppressed rifle long range)
