oke
Not going to lie I have spent about 6 hours on this game have not seen one dung.. I have seen two towns.. But still Pretty chill game hope they keep working on it :)
Sorry this feels like an early alpha build, let alone an Early Access title, let alone a released game.
Project Hedra crashed twice on me in the first 20 mins of game play.
This game, while seemingly an extremely ambitious game for this developers first title on Steam is nothing but a huge buggy mess of assets.
- NPCs move up 90 degree slopes on mountains near the village and if you want to get or turn in a quest with one of them, you'll also have to jump your way up the ridiculously steep slope to get close enough to hit the E key.
- The music loop used in the game is only about 15 seconds long and every time it starts over, you'll hear it glitch out as it starts the loop over.
- While traversing the world, you'll fall through the map and see the map above you, only to see the game magically teleport you back up to the surface in a nearby random location. ..Talk about an immersion breaker!
- You must hold your camera on any NPC that gives you a quest, or you'll completely miss whatever they are trying to say to you. This wouldn't be a problem if so many of the quest NPCS were not 20 feet above you on a super steep slope as mentioned above.
- This game is NOT early access, and there is NO excuse for this game to be in this buggy of a state while still asking a $10 USD price tag for it.
- The main problem with this is that it's just not fun. The terribly coded and slopped together assets just don't work well enough to create a fun experience.
I recommend that the developer "play" his own game here and ask himself if he enjoys playing it and if he'd pay $10 for this if someone else made it.
NOT RECOMMENDED. ..Again, it's a respectable and very ambitious game, but it's just way too buggy and messy to call a "fun" or complete game ready for a $10 asking price.
Fun adventure game/RPG set in an infinite realm. Gameplay is kinda janky sometimes, but overall I find it enjoyable. Definitely worth the price
EDIT: The developer fixed the issues below the same day I wrote this review. Changing my review to positive because of this great response to feedback. I'll check the game out again.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Had this on my wishlist for a long time and bought this after seeing there was a recent update and out of Early Access.
No sound even at full volume and making sure the game appears in the volume mixer.
The camera has a mind of its own and keeps zooming in whenever I approach an NPC or enemy. It's annoying having to zoom out constantly to where I find it comfortable only for the camera to zoom back in on its own. You can't even look down. The camera's max angle is too restrictive.
First NPC I approached gave me a quest to find a cottage and it failed immediately after the dialogue ended.
These issues make it very annoying to play the game and with the refund window being within 2 hours, I can't spend all my time wrestling through these problems to find the good underneath the bad, especially since it's supposed to be out of Early Access now.
pretty good, the dev is a bit of a prick
Seems to be heavily inspired by Cube World, except the developer doesn't run away for 6 years every time an update drops.
A good RPG with a Cube World Alpha vibe ( procedurally generated worlds and quests ), nice OST, beautifull graphics and an active developper who cares about the community. I absolutely recommend you to try it !
I've been following the development on reddit for a while and have finally had a chance to play. The game looks pretty great but it is lacking in a few regards:
Firstly, it needs some "meatiness" behind hitting and being hit, even a good "thud" sound effect would be nice. As it is now, the fighting feels awfully floaty and not at all satisfying (played a mage). Secondly, a bit more of a starting area or tutorial would be preferred as, on my first playthough, I immediately walked into a camp of bandits and died, respawned who the heck knows where. Thirdly, some spawning is a bit weird (i.e. I found a cow underwater?). Finally the character customization during creation is either bugged or non-existent and, while playing as a burly old dude is cool and all, I would like to see some variety.
While these issues are not gamebreaking, they make the game hard to love. Still, it is most certainly playable and really nice to look at. If I could, i would rate this neutral. The hope for future updates and improvements will keep me playing occasionally.
Very cool, has the very unique Cube world alpha experience :p
Hopefully this will have a similar success !
If you enjoy action RPGs like Elder Scroll or Kingdom of Amalur but want an endless world to explore and don't mind low poly graphics then Project Hedra is for you.
I have been enjoying the game but it is not without it's flaws.
World generation is not perfect and you may find houses or NPCs under water. Also for me after playing for an hour the game freezes and crashes.
The good news is the dev does pay attention to the forums and replies fairly quickly and is actively fixing bugs.
Based on potential I would give this game a 7/10.
If co op were introduced that wouls be a bonus as well as more itemization and more drops from enemies would be nice.
Anywho I definitely recommend this game for all rpg fans looking for procedurally generated worlds to explore.
Can't wait to see how the game evolves!
A little hard to figure out...haven't figured out how to use healing items yet. The graphic style is gorgeous...
Haven't really been following the game pre early access release just knew it existed for a while now, since I've been looking for a Cube World like game for some time now. Played the Cube World alpha years back and was really addicted with that open-world/active combat/free exploring aspects of the game.
That being said, I was really exited when I saw that the Early Access build was released and immediately purchased it. Of course the game is Early Acces and just a few days released, but the Cube World like procedurally generated worlds and quests and little bit more feature rich skill trees got me immediately hooked again and instantly played a few hours and tried out all the classes. None of them felt really useless you can fight pretty much any type of enemy with some dodging and preparing for the fight with enough food you find throughout the world. I personally don't really mind the graphics so thats ok for me.
Since I played within the first couple of days after the release there were still a lot of bugs prominent but the developer really does a good job and replying to bug reports and bugs get patched the almost everytime the next day. Right now the game get almost daily bugfixes and looking forward to more content.
Overall you can already have a pretty stable singleplayer experience right now it still lacks content (but that was the same with Cube World but you can invest hours into exploring the world and leveling up your skills) but for everyone who liked Cube World it's definitely worth looking at or at least keep an eye on the project and it's future improvements.
