Роботизация вышла на новый уровень - теперь роботы делают сами себя. Корпорации строят на отдельных планетах заводы, которыми управляет искусственный интеллект, и просто дают задания для постройки тех или иных моделей. Иногда искусственный интеллект осознает себя как личность и выходит из-под контроля. Тогда приглашают парней из отряда Exive, решающих эти проблемы.
Ты управляешь прототипом усовершенствованного роботизированного боевого комплекса новой модели Exive A-1000. Твоя задача проста: разрушить всё, чтобы не осталось ни одного целого механизма и чипа. Идущие за тобой отправят весь мусор в переработку. Да, роботы знают о твоих целях и перестроили производственные цепочки на военные модели, так, что задание не будет просто прогулкой. Постарайся не умереть в новом прототипе - его надо испытать в боевых условиях, а не угробить. Удачи.

cant get past the first boss yet, but i like what im playing.
Good pixel graphics, and solid gunplay. Damage occurs too quickly, not even enough health pickups remotely. Seems ok, i dont understand the bad reviews, seems allright to me.
Well it was on my friend's whitelist I don't say it bad its just It can be free.
Before I say anything, I want to point out that this Steam release is a stolen version of the beta for the original game. The full version can be found on itch.io and is free to play. If you have yet to buy it, please don't give this publisher money.

I wanna start with the positives; This game sticks to the core mechanics of the genre. It’s an homage to other FPS classics, such as Wolfenstein and DOOM. Unlike other contemporary Wolfenstein clones, it stays away from the advanced movement mechanics which have become commonplace in the evolution of the genre. Some may see this as a lack of innovation, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. Another big plus is the artstyle. The dark, saturated colour scheme harmonising with the contrast of the slightly fried popcorn bitmaps, whilst not entirely unique, is once again a nice homage to the origins of the genre. The weapons are nicely varied, in both design and function, and you use each of them quite an equal amount.
Now onto the negative. Each level has barely enough health and ammo to get you through it, and that all resets at the start of the each level, forcing you to explore and likely die over and over again whilst you map the safest path. Bosses have an unnecessarily large amount of health and can one-shot you, sending you back to the start of the level, which is quite annoying on levels with more enemies than just the boss. The sprite hitboxes are too big, resulting in you and the enemies getting stuck on or behind objects. More often than not, you’ll find yourself wasting a large amount of finite ammo trying to shoot around a corner which is 3cm wider than you think it is. The soundtrack has limited variation and loops after a short time, becoming extremely repetitive very fast. After the first act of the game, the sheer amount of enemies becomes more of a hassle than an enjoyable experience, and I was about ready to call it quits by the halfway mark. If this was an official release, I still wouldn't recommend it, even at the relatively low price point.

A really charming and fun game!
Brings back a lot of memories of when I used to play Doom, Wolfenstein, and Duke Nukem.
I'm a sucker for short and fun games, and this one definitely is one of my favourite.

Really good old school take on FPS like Wolf 3D but different.

This game looks really fun. Unfortunately looks are deceiving. I enjoy old-school shooters. There are a lot of things that ruin this game for me though. There are no options to configure your keys. There are a lot of hit-scan enemies, often hidden behind trees and bushes. The enemies can see you before you have a chance to attack them. There are mines in some of the levels that are also often hidden behind bushes. You are forced to slow down and the game gets just tedious. The weapons have pretty weak sound design. Also there is no real animation when you hit an enemy. This makes the weapons feel even less powerful. To make things worse the enemies are bullet-sponges. Secrets are hidden behind walls that blow up and can damage you. There is no way to tell if a wall will explode in your face and kill you when you accidentally shoot it. This game needs more work. With a few additions and fixes it could be a fun shooter. As it is now it is not worth the price they are asking for it. You are better off playing free Doom mods.

Summery: Excive A-1000 is a fun old-school shooter, but the lack of options including screen resolutions, adjusting controls and other technical problems, make it feel like a under developed game. 4/10.

Gameplay:
Excive’s gameplay is a fun experience that pays its homage to the 90s FPS especially the likes of Wolfenstein, Blake Stone and Rise of the Triad. Its action packed, its adrenaline filled and it fast-paced. And that is exactly what I look for in such a game. It has all the critical elements that make this style of gameplay a joy to play despite its issues. However, I can’t say it is a game that’s gameplay has been well developed. There are just too many issues and too much of a lack of polish.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere to Excive is a lot like everything else in Excive, it is alright. The developer has done a great job is getting that robotic and sci-fi feel across, between the sounds of the robots when they are hit and die along with when they detect you.
The soundtrack really adds to the 90s FPS feel that the gameplay and visuals already give, really showing its DOOM inspiration with a lot of the tracks. This is especially the case with the first level music track that has fast-paced hard-hitting drums and guitars that wouldn’t feel out of place in E1M1 of DOOM.
Admittingly, the environments don’t do much for the atmosphere. They don’t really fit in all that well with the futuristic theme with the exception of the final environment. But the music and the sound effects do an alright job of establishing the theme and wouldn’t feel amiss in a cheesy low-budget 90s robot action film. And I think in many ways it was such films that the inspiration for Excive was built from.
Conclusion:
I knew from the moment I saw Excive’s store page that it was going to be a gamble as to whether it would be any good or not. In some ways, it was a pleasant surprise but it certainly isn’t without its need for polish and extra work.
It’s problems mostly revolve around enemy AI, small technical details and the lack of options along with the inability to change the controls. All of which is an understandably tedious process for indie developers to implement but a very crucial one never the less. And they really aren’t something that can be skipped in this day and age of high-quality expectations, even in the indie scene.
Regardless of its problems, I overall enjoyed my time with Excive. The mowing down of tonnes of robots with a mostly satisfying arsenal of weapons never got old. It ain’t perfect, and certainly is no DUSK, Amid Evil or even Project Warlock but I can’t call Excive a disaster either. Its level of polish isn’t up to the standards where I could call it a good game though and it is in dire need of some refinement. And with that, I give Excive, a 4 out of 10.
Excive is a oldschool fps, its really well made, watching the trailer doesn't tell exatcly what the game really is, I was expecting another wolf3d clone but its not, you use three weapons at once by simply using different buttons, "q" for fist, "e" for bazooka and click for shoot, the game is really hard so I would recommend starting with a easy game like "spear of destiny" before trying Excive.
