this is a terrible simm. absolutly no input hardly ..very very boring ..do not purchase .
Not recommended in case you know a little about flying. No pre flight check. Flaps have almost no effect. Lights are always on. Can't change fuel switch. No trimming possible. No radio or squawk. Reset of position should be possible without keyboard whilst using the headset. And so on and so on ... In no way comparable to MS-Flightsimulator that supports also VR.
fun i guess
Waste of money smh Don't buy
A good VR sim. I had far more issues with other sims out of the box that required some tooling on settings. This one fired up right the first time and was a good experience without pushing any vertigo buttons or sending you into insta-headache land with screen twitch. ;)
Do not buy this - yet! There is a lot of potential, but right now it is far too early. This is not even labeled as early access so it must be a finished product - is it? I made a video (sorry, it´s all german) of my first visit to this. https://youtu.be/HqJl1lKKAxY
Flying this thing is easy - since there is not a single button you could press. Throttle and yoke and flaps on/off - that´s it. No Altimeter settings, no radio, no navigation. Rudders don´t work on WMR, there is menue instead. No settings so you can´t connect to joysticks, yokes etc, you even can´t get rid of the music. But you can hear the two-dimensional cars honking when flying over streets.
The very best to say about this program (simulator??) is that the plane explodes pretty nice when hitting a building.
You really should (!) have another look in maybe some months time but right now it is too early. And no, I won´t refund, I do have hope for this. If they keep up tweaking the program it´s worth the price (I paid 8.19€) and regarding the price you should keep in Mind that you can´t compare it to something like X-Plane 11. And if it gets better I will happily change my "negative" to a "positive".
you cannot fly with flight yoke, and you can not recenter no matter you press R key many times. Cessna will not fly. And there is no game option you can choose. It is really a waste of money.
Whenever a new Flight Simulator comes out, I usually buy it, (it`s a reflex action, just can`t help myself). As a result of this, I`ve played virtually every one on the market. Aerofly 1 & 2, FS2004 & FSX, X-Plane 10 & 11, DCS, Flyinside, RebullAir-race, Flying Aces, Navy Pilot Simulator, VTOL VR, Aces High VR, Falcon BMS, Flight Sim World, Dovetail Flight School,IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad, IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover, Combat Air Patrol 2, the list seems unending... When I saw the price for this, I didn`t expect too much, but I have been pleasantly suprised.
The nearest sim I can compare this to is Aerofly. The Graphics have the same sort of `feel` to them, (although the AE2 are infinitely more refined). The graphics are kinda nice but need a LOT of work doing to reach the same level as AE 2, the things I noticed most were that in Manhatten Island especially, they looked unfinished. I could see parts of buildings `floating` in the air, with missing sides, or tops.
I haven`t yet noticed, or found out, if this sim supports joysticks or not, but was happy to discover that the virtual controls, (i.e. the VR representation of the yoke & throttle, etc), work very well. Not too sensitive and the plane is easy to control with them. I particularly like the way the rudder works by pressing the left or right thumbsticks, it feels `right`. The Sim is basic without being too arcadey, and the cockpit interior is spot-on. It has a LOT of room for improvement and a few really niggly bugs, (e.g. it often freezes the view for a second, shows the game title, then resumes playing. And likewise it also pauses at certain points, -seemingly by design, with a menu asking if you want to keep flying or not), these bugs interrupt the flow and can be irritating. But all this can be fixed.
All said & done, its very cheap at £7 GBP, (Aerofly is now £45 GBP..) and you do seem to get your moneys worth if you are looking for a simple enjoyable VR flying experience.
So, recommended.
Overall I think this Sim has a lot of potential and I am enjoying it. No where near as sophisticated as X-Plane 11 but I actually already prefer it to AFS2 (for New York anyway). I finally got used to using my touch controllers but I would still prefer to use flight sticks with mouse control. Hopefully the developers will add this option in the near future.
First, let me give credit where credit is due--from the start of the game, the graphics were great!
Now, let's get to the tea...
So, I've got the game running, and I wait a few moments and then I'm placed in the cockpit.
I've got a T.16000, TWCS and CH PRO PEDALS, none of which work at game start.
No problem, I probably just need to go into SETTINGS, and configure these controllers, right? Wrong!
At this point, how do I get to the SETTINGS? For that matter, how do I get to a MENU??? For that matter, how do I even EXIT the game--seeing as the ESC key is just for decoration at this point.
Ok, this is nice and sucky. Maybe I'll just read the instructions....oops, can't do that--there AREN'T any!!!
Well, anyway ten dollars is not too high a price to pay to "sit" in the cockpit and marvel at the great graphics.
Maybe someday, I'll get around to being able to fly it!!!
so having aerofly fs2 and xplane 11 theres no comparrison but this is very little content and early acess so i will give you my pros on this first..
1) the graphics are decent could be a little better hopefully will
2) I like the weather effect and the clouds look better in a way compared to aeroflyfs2
3) I like that there is traffic movemnent on ground thumbs up on that
4) the control handling is decent could be a little better
5) the water is better than aeroflys definently
now for the cons
1) very little content but im sure more to come
2) the propeller and engine is way too loud when flying and no option to turn it down
3) the water needs movement to look realistic
4) only a couple things u can touch and use in the cockpit u should be able to use most the functions
5) needs better motion controller support its ok but could be better
6) u need a menu setting for graphics , volume, etc
overall its decent for the price since i see theres more planes coming but definently needs more of above added if u wanna compete with at least aeroflyfs2 .... will be looking forward to more stuff on here make us happy keep up the work
Played on WMR.
For the price I'm impressed. It's $10 so I wasn't expecting X-Plane. For someone like me with a passing interest in flying in VR I think it's nice.
I did some touch and goes and then flew low over Manhattan to the Statue of Liberty. The terrain looks pretty good. I'm pretty sure they overlayed google maps.
There's two planes to fly and weather options to practice flying in turbulence or stormy weather.
There's road traffic on the roads which is a nice touch but something I was really surprised to see are NPC planes flying around. However the AI planes do weird things like bank a hard turn to avoid you.
I read in an update that they're going to sync the AI planes to real world traffic which is a pretty crazy idea.
I'm kinda bummed that my Hotas (T-flight stick) doesn't work. I saw gamepad support on the description so I thought it would.
I didn't try a gamepad, I used the motion controllers.
I found it kinda annoying to have to keep my hand on the yoke to keep the plane staying up, especially without grab lock. You have to keep the trigger pulled the whole time to maintain interaction with the yoke. It would be more manageable if I could use the hotas or if the flaps actually worked.
The flaps don't seem to work and the animations on the wings are definitely not working.
The rudder control, at least for mixed reality controllers, also doesn't work.
It may seem like I have a lot of complaints but I'm mentioning these things because the developers patched a lot of the complaints in other reviews very quickly.
For the money I think this is a good plane game. When they get fine tune some of the issues and add in the features they've mentioned like ATC and the radio I'll be even more impressed.
It's about what I expected. A quick to play somewhat arcade realistic flight sim.
Definitely more real than Ultrawings. The scenery looks good. I didn't even see NYC so it's actually pretty big.
Feels like Aerofly but in New York which is cool especially for the price.
Some things I liked:
1. File size is less than 1 gig with similar experience compared to larger flight sims that can be 30+ gigs
2. Cockpit hand controls feel good. Other sims took a long time to get this feature working but here it's very good right out of the box.
3. Flying feels real. Maybe it's the turbulence they just added but the general sense of flying feels good.
4. Ground traffic makes the environment feel more alive.
Some issues:
1. You can really only fly while holding the yoke.
2. There's no trim or any way to lock the yoke in place.
3. Throttle does not control pitch. It's like the trim is forcing the nose down so if you let go of the yoke you will always be in a dive.
4. flaps don't seem to have any effect.
Basically feels very real until you start controling the plane with anything other than the yoke.
Still feels good though. Physics are nice and lofty like you're actually flying.
Im using WMR and it works fine as far as i can tell.
It's an alright game, but has a ways to go.
First things first, i'd like a touch more tactile input with the controls. No vibrate on the column makes it feel a touch unsatisfying.
There's a minor model error with the column as well, the actual connector bar(?) doesn't exist on the left one. Maybe i'm too far forward but idk.
Second, mapping a snap to center control on the controllers would be quite helpful. As well, making the grip buttons "hold" (stay attached without input) the column would be nice (like in VTOL VR).
Third, and this is a feature i'd like, is collision on the buildings. There's no rush when trying to fly through the streets of Manhattan if there's no danger of crashing into the buildings.
This game has potential, and i look forward to what it holds in the future!
Bought this game on sale, was hesitant after reading other reviews, but the developer post about an update on the 9 so decided to give it ago .All the feedbacks were correct about this simulator.it definitely needs a lot of work, have play loads of free stuff that is leaps ahead of this.
Should be free until they sort it out. 😒
First of all, I would like to thank the developers of this simulation. It’s always hard bringing something like this to market, with so many well established products already out there. I bought this, as I love flying, and flight simulators.
I am posting this with a pilot’s viewpoint. I am a pilot with a couple of hundred hours as P1 on Cessna 152 & 172's. I used to own a share in a C172, and love flying that aeroplane, so I was very interested in this software.
First let’s talk about what is right. The instrument panel is very readable. It’s actually very clear in VR, and looks good. The cockpit graphics are crisp, clear, and very smooth. It feels good in the cockpit, and everything looks as it should.
The controls feel good. I like the idea of flying with the left hand on the column, and the right hand on the power It feels very natural, and exactly how it really feels to fly. Very realistic from that point of view.
The outside world looks good. It needs some polish, but it’s not at all bad.
Now, some constructive feedback on what I think could be better.
1. The Throttle is inverted. The throttle is pulled to reduce power and pushed in to apply power. In this simulation the reverse is true.
2. The flight model needs a lot of work. It actually flies too slowly. Taking off at 70kts feels like you are flying a microlight at 40kts. It should feel a lot faster.
The stall warning is non-existent, and the stall speed is not realistic. I pulled the aircraft off of the runway and practically stood it vertically at such a low speed, it would not be possible.
There is no trim. You need to keep your hands on the column at all times, applying pressure as it is not possible to trim the aeroplane for level flight.
3. The rudder at present needs to be calibrated and corrected, as it does not seem to have much effect. Applying rudder made no difference to the turn slip indicator, the aircraft was always "skidding" the turn with the ball out to the left or the right.
4. There is no mixture control. It is not possible to "lean out" the mixture when flying, or ensure "Mixture Rich" for landing.
5. When on the landing roll, the propeller is very distracting. In real life you would not see the propeller in front of you to such a degree when landing. It needs to be more transparent. Wind milling is fine, when the throttle is closed and you are in the flare, but the visibility should be a lot less.
6. Again the flight model on landing. Everything is too slow, and the landing needs be heavier. The weight of the aeroplane does not feel right, as it floats far too long with the throttle closed. It is a heavy aeroplane, and needs to be brought in with an approach speed of 60-70kts. When I flew one IRL I used to approach at 70kts, and bring back to 65kts approaching the runway (Speed and height are safety- as my instructor used to say). This actually feels a lot slower than a C152 with an approach of 65kts.
7 The flaps do not seem to have an effect. Typically applying 15/20' of flap will see the nose kick up, and you need to apply forward pressure to keep the nose on the horizon, as you fly base, onto final approach.
8. The radio panel digits seem to "float" in front of the radio. There is also no opportunity to change frequency or operate the radio in any way. Maybe this is something that will come later.
All that said - is it enjoyable. Yes of course. Also for the cost it is good fun. If I were to align it in terms of a flight simulator in its current state. I would align it more with "Ultra wings" than with "X-Plane"
It is very accessible for new "players" and although it does give a good sense of being in the air, it needs a lot of work for it to be a serious simulation. It does however have some really good points, and for that I would recommend it for the cost. - I will keep an eye on this as it develops, and see how it improves.
It has a lot of potential to be a lot of fun. - Good work Dev Team, and keep it up.
********* UPDATE *********
I checked in recently to see how this game is progressing. Sadly it is not. There is huge potential here, but the basics are still not right. I could pull the nose of the cessna up to 90' after take off, then pull off the power, and float around like a glider. The physics of flight is all wrong. I REALLY wanted to support this game, and I will check in again, in a few months, but as for now, I reluctantly have to change my opinion to not recommended - Devs, please for your own sake get the physics right. the other things will follow, but unless the aeroplane feels right then its not worth it.
It's not there yet. It's obvious the programmers have the ability to do better, and this probably should have been delayed until things were a bit up more up to snuff.
Very little cockpit interactivity and what you can interact with has little effect. The graphics are promising and primitive at the same time, but the flying area seems pretty extensive.
I like the AI planes, but the courses they follow are preposterous, and are a real immersion killer.
Did I mention its not there yet? I will check this out again in a few months.
I think that this game has great potential but it needs a few tweaks, the devs are quite good at getting things done as they fixed a problem almost the second it came out. I think that they should improve the graphics of the surface and the bridges are quite glitchy. I think its a great game but i dont reccomend it for now, given how new it is but I hope to purchase it later when it is more developed...
im using oculus rift and there is no way what so ever to recenter your veiw no matter what i tried it would not recenter and every time i booted up the game i was shoved outside of the cockpit to the left and unable to recenter veiw every single time also it seems that theres no bindings set for touch controlers and i was unable to manually set bindings, for me the game was a broken mess do they not test there games before release??
i would avoid like the plague even at this low price.
