Glorious Companions is a turn-based tactical RPG set in the rich, open world of Navaroth. Lead a group of battle-proven companions through an epic quest to collect all the vault crystals and end Xandar’s Wrath. Play either of the two campaigns or venture into point-limited, wargaming inspired PvP battles in both Online and Local Multiplayer. Command the disciplined and versatile Steam-wielding Valrenay or unleash the fury of the Scarres, a vengeful race of fierce red lizardfolk.
The land of Terscara has fallen into a peaceful coexistence as the 300 year old war between Scarres and Valrenay has ceased to an end. The Scarres seemingly accepted their role as second rate inhabitants of Terscara. Or at least that’s what they want the humans to think. In truth they trust in a prophecy, which promises a coming of a powerful Blood Chieftain, who will help them triumph against the humans.
However, recently a new threat emerged on the horizon. The giant statues called Naalans started rumbling as if they were awakening. More and more folk started reporting weird events happening around the giants. Some even say that they’ve seen the Naalans tilting their heads slightly. In the face of the unveiling crisis, the King of Valrenay decided to call in all brave enough to discover the underlying root of the issue and solve it once and for all.
Recruit new troops to your battlecrew, train and equip them to prepare for the varied encounters awaiting you in Terscara. Choose from different mercenary classes from the two available factions and explore their potentials and unique battle abilities that they possess.
Buy brand new weapons and armor from city-dwelling merchants or hunt specific enemies to loot equipment from their dead bodies. Find perfect combinations for each of your trusty warriors by exploring different skill branches and level up choices. Every companion will bring different strengths outside battle too, be it when setting up camps or dealing with different Points of Interest.
As your companions get better, you’ll be facing a plethora of different threats across the island of Terscara. Starting from the regular bandits and animal enemies, soon you’ll end up diving into the ancient vaults that serve to protect the Crystals of Creation. The time has come to use the Crystals to repair what they’ve caused.
Inside each vault you’ll find a series of rooms populated with unique and challenging enemies, ending up with the legendary boss encounters. Not only will the vault guardians introduce unique battle tactics for you to overcome, they will also provide unique loot opportunities. Use their mythical artifacts to increase your group’s power.
The search for vaults will take you across the vast open world of Terscara, where you’ll encounter all kinds of Points of Interests, valuable resources and settlements. Journey across nine varied regions including icy tundras, misty swamps, scorching deserts, lush forests and The Fiery Volcano.
Visit the beautiful cities scattered across the Kingdom of Valrenay before venturing South to the lively yet dangerous towns of the Scarres Arcanate. On your way, you’ll encounter outposts, camps and mines featuring both opportunities and dangers for brave adventurers.
Forge your legacy in a world on the brink of chaos, where every decision, battle, and companion shapes the fate of Terscara.

Looks nice. But the battles are very generic: Rush forward kill everything. Skills and weapons don't seem to matter much.
a very nice game with many interesting ideas, needs some polish but overall enjoyable. The devs are very active with updates and fixes and also very responsive on the forum. Hopefully thay will continue to support the game, improve and expand the gameplay.
I honestly thought the game is abandoned. Surprisingly, it's not and it's fun! Great dialogues and gameplay. There is a lot to do and the map is spacious and interesting, making me want to see more terrains. The only flaw I see is quite high GPU usage, but the developers seem to be working hard on the patches.
Not gonna sugar coat it....I really thought these developers had abandoned the project and ripped off everyone who bought the early access...And the game showed so much promise back then that it kind of stung, because so few people try to use what works but make new styles in SRPGs. I already felt burned by Crimson Tactics, but this one really pissed me off because after talking with the devs on the forums I really thought of this as a passion project, and that there hearts were in it
Thankfully I was right. Though it took a good while, it seems they just regrouped to come at the project again... And finally finished this long awaited SRPG.
Was it worth the wait? I think so. And I am glad my first impressions of them turned out to be right.
Its my favorite go to genre. I love turn based tactical games. But I am kind of annoyed that they all stick to one formula- you get your 5 to 10 soldiers, you do stages by chapters with story/battle/story/battle, and so forth. But HERE the formula has been broken!
Instead, in Glorious Companions, you have an open world to explore, 2 races to choose from each with several classes/archetypes, and a story to follow (Or just travel and live as a merc and ignore the story- Up to you). I think it would be better to say this is like a mercenary simulator with high fantasy elements. And THANKFULLY they also broke the mold on roster limit, allowing you to have a very large warband. I played a lot of the early access and a few hours of the final release and the polish between the two is very noticible.
I do hope they add more races/characters over time, including unique and original story characters to recruit. But for now, this is a very satisfying mercenary simuylator/tactical RPG that fans of this genre are really going to like. Some monsters/pets to recruit in maybe a future DLC would rock!
I tried to be as spoiler free as possible here, because I think games are better when you discover everything for yourself including gameplay mechanics, but I have to bring up one mechanic that may turn people away and that is the "Captain". If your captain falls, you lose the battle....DONT let that scare you away. Its not as big a deal as some might try to make it out to be. He/She tend to not be so squishy that as long as your paying attention you should be alright.
So yeah....I recommend this to all fans of turn based SRPGs. Its one of the better indie ones I have come across, and has just as much potential as the popular "Wartales" imo.
The game has a ton of potential. There are quite a few bugs so you need to be aware of this. While the game has been officially released it still feels like it needs a lot of work. But with that said the combat is quite enjoyable (though currently there is no mid combat save) and you can modify your characters to be quite diverse with their abilities. If you enjoy turn based tactical crpg's using an isometric view that are not too complex this should satisfy.
Currently as at the time of this review the devs have been stating that they are working on a lot of the problems and will be releasing patches soon. I recommend this game as it currently stands but only while on sale because while it is quite playable it is held back due to the bugs and the rather clunky interface and the main campaign game play flow.
If they manage to sort out the issues and release the promised patches this will be a very enjoyable tactical indie title.
As it is now it is simply okay.

Companions
I am trying to keep in mind the fact this game on sale is only 11 dollars.
That being said there are some things that I think should be in the game and charged a bit more if that was the case.
1. Let’s start with “races”. There are only two. Humans and Lizards.
a. Each race only has 4 classes… and really only on of them are vastly different than the other for each group, which is the spell caster lizard vs the human engineer.
2. Far as I can tell you cannot change the sex of the character. Engineers have to be women, which is very against the norm of statistics right now, but in reality, I would just like to choose man or women for roles.
3. You only get three choices of hair (Brown, Orange, Blonde) and faces (Regular, scar on right eye but same face, or tattoo over eye but still same face).
4. The banner is actually the most customizable with 9 banner colors, 10 emblem colors and 12 emblems. You cannot change the banner size, banner edges, or anything other than just the color.
5. Not sure on the max level yet, but when I click on the “skills” to see what is coming up, there is only up to level 5 sadly, and each level are 3 skills… so really there isn’t going to be any real diversity in terms of classes specializing in anything or even really being that much different than the other.
6. The graphics are a bit clunky, like maybe PS3 days, not quite octagonal but you can see it still.
7. The story starts off with your family going to trade day in the city and some how forgot all their money, so you must go give it to them. -.-
8. Sounds dumb, but this is one of those “text choices” game. Although they are numbered you can’t use your number pad on the right, nor can you use the numbers on top of your keyboard. So, you have to use a mouse for selecting.
9. No battle speed????
10. Attack animations - swing a spear? Like a freaking sword?!
11. No ammo but holding a javelin? Either remove the javelin in their hand or let them keep one for melee!
12. Can’t fist attack? So, you are “out” of javelins after 4 throws and now you are literally useless? Fun!
All praise the full release! I was scared to buy it, but the game is pretty good. I could stare at the river for hours ❤️
GLORIOUS COMPANIONS so far is alot of fun strong in its tabletop characteristics with plenty of encounters during travel and exploration where cool dice roll like choices without visual dice come into play to decide whether to check out what seems to be an abandoned camp and choosing the right party member to stealthily sneak in to grab any loot after checking out the lay of the land. Narration is epic with story telling magnificence and the just released update added voices for dungeon encounters. Writing is well written and immersive making me want to get involved or avoid situations. Combat is action packed with plenty of turn based war game mechanics such as flanking and attacks from the rear being more lethal. Music is great reminding me of MIGHT & MAGIC with its soothing and heroic properties combined with the very well done tabletop style graphics it all comes together into a grand experience of high adventure and fun.
GLORIOIUS COMPANIONS, Buy it! Play it! Be immersed in a relaxing high tension world of tabletop excellence throbbing with heroic muscular death defying magnificense and softened by soothing kisses of roleplaying delights!

This game turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While the graphics may not have the polish of modern titles, and some elements feel reminiscent of other games, I genuinely enjoyed the few hours I've spent with it so far. It’s engaging, with an intriguing premise and battle mechanics that feel both fresh and fun. The game strikes a great balance, offering a diverse mix of elements from magic to gunpowder that opens up a variety of possibilities.
What stood out most for me were the humorous touches; there were moments that genuinely made me laugh out loud. It’s clear the developers put a lot of effort into revitalizing this title, and in my opinion, they’ve done a fantastic job.
I am really happy i bought this game. I wasn't expecting so much depth in the combat system. It's very engaging.
My expectations were not high after reading the reviews. But I decided to give it a try as I was looking for an RPG to get my mind off things. It worked! Maybe early access version was poor and bugged. But now the game works smoothly even on my old machine. It has some interesting turn-based fighting solutions. The plot really absorbs you. All in all it's quite entertaining. It could do with some expansion of the world (more non-human races, real face customisation of your charakter not just the colour of your hair). But that will probably come later. I just tested it on single-player so far.
And I like it. The beggining of the game has a lot of hills, which made it difficult to manuver at first, but the next region is fine. Maybe it's because it is literally called "Lowlands" but we'll see how it goes.
Impressed by all the changes since ea. 2.5h after me and still playing. Good job, but why so long? wannabe duke nukem forever? ;d anyway guys please do me a favour and fix too many and too long loading screens. But.. it's a guilty pleasure style game and still fun
So it's fantasy XCOM, but blades instead of guns and statues instead of aliens? Cool!

A tactical game with a dark setting and an interesting world. After a two-year break, the developers have delivered a solid piece of work
Its not abandoned and full-release is coming out very soon(December 19th I believe).
So far I am liking what I played, looks like a good base for a game that could be amazing. I am waiting for the full release to drop but what I played is definitely promising and since I bought the game the dev's have been active( I was worried about the long wait in between updates) but they seem to be hard at work.
Will update this review when I play more at full release.

I am sorry, the game looked very good at first, tactical combat exactly as I like it, but then during level up I realized that choices are very poor. And it is like that with everything else. Point of interests have just two options (flea market and quests), the quests are to kill something or to buy something, you find a big city on the map and guess what: there is 3rd choice on top of the flea market and quests - the tavern where you can hire new companions (of the same class :-D). Cmon man, such a potential and no content.
Yeah i gave it only 1n1/2 hours, but I also read good portion of other reviews which only confirmed my bad impression about this game.
Just wanted to give a positive review for this game because as the developers have explained, they had to stop development for awhile do to other obligations. They could have abandoned this all together, but now they are back adding new features and upgrading the game in many areas.
I haven’t put much time in because I too thought it was abandoned. Recently loaded it back up and must say that I like what they have done so far, and I’m looking forward to the Re-release in December.
Game is not dead. Thank you to the devs for coming back and continuing to add to this project.
Not sure why the loading screen takes forever but due to bugs I am unable to continue playing. The stash button and manage party button stopped working. Not sure what the deal is
Started a new game after seeing this has been updated one or two times in the last few years and wanted to give it a new try.
Second combat, healing ability simply doesn't work at all, ability can be chosen, range get's shown but no injured target in range that is highlighted green can get selected. Also no other target can positively be selected. Error messages are also not a thing.
After wanting to continue with the fight, the game slowed down so much that after showing 3 tooltips extremely slowly and very faint, the game half froze, meaning I could move the camera but do nothing, not issuing commands, not even getting a tooltip shown or any option highlighted while hovering above it with the cursor.
This is far worse than the version around 2 years ago which had no content to talk of.
Also the new races are still not implemented after all this time.
Burn this and throw it away.
