I bought the game for $30 cheaper. When I launched the game, the main menu and graphics are excellent and FUCKING AWESOME. At the end of the game I got scared by the screamer and crashed right on the desktop. There are cons: Firstly, in the credits you downloaded all the music and sounds, you also bought resources, you downloaded textures on the browser on the Internet and you published the game on steam. Secondly, you do not know how to create anything at all fucking games on sounds, textures, all models, etc. YOU ARE A CRAPPY GAME DEVELOPER BECAUSE YOU HAVE FEW GAMES. IF YOU LEARNED TO CREATE MUSIC, SOUNDS, MODELS, TEXTURES, DESIGN, LOGO AND EVERYTHING ELSE, AND EVEN YOU CREATED IT NOW, THEN YOU WOULD BE A POPULAR DEVELOPER. And so YOU DIDN'T LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT CREATING GAMES ON THE UNITY ENGINE IN 13-14 YEARS, BECAUSE YOU'RE A FUCKING GAME DEVELOPER. In order to fucking create games, you need to go to college, you have to pass an exam, get A's in math, English, geography, biology, physics, computer science, history, life safety, all subjects, be a smart, cultured developer, AND YOU'RE A SCARY, YOU HAVE 2 STUPID HORROR GAMES AND NO ONE ASKED YOU. You find yourself in a game where you play VHS tapes as games: each tape shows a grainy black-and-white world and is, well a little creepy. Definitely adjust your tracking.
The world within the VHS exists in two-realms, both of which are interconnected. The decor is a little satanic and the guests a little unruly. Good luck!

Mechanic
A series of puzzles played in first-person
- each room contains a real world and an invsible world: turing off the light allows you to walk in the phased world
- the phase-space contains keys to solving puzzles in the real-world
- phase space also contains monsters and demons... some visible, some not
- real-world items can still have an invisible prescence in the phase-space, causing invisible blockers...
- all rooms need to be solved to open the next room
- the final room has you downloading important data while scaring away a monster invasion by using light once more...
Accessibility
- nothing to overtly offensive, but the tone is scary-horror
- no real options to control video or audio settings
- some sections rely on audio to resolve, but with no visual tells to go with audio, this poses a real issue for those with hearing sensitivities
- the controls are fairly standard, though change radically near the endearing
- navigating the 3D world is clumsy: the collsion bozes around items are too big, causing you to often snag on nothing.
Universe
- you enter a black-and-white world of VHS-addled madness
- death is very frequent: get used to it
- it is a dark, spooky and alien place
Delivery
- a great sense of peril throughout
- the horror element is initially very good
- the level design is awful in places however; this detracts from the horrifying core: causing you instead to focus on the bugs rather than the plot

- the uneven level-progression and lack of polish, coupled with some real rage-quit sections, mean this game though pretty, will most-likely remain unfinished in your collection.

The story behind ‘.exe’ games is a complex one, and so is my understanding of Final_SIM. A ‘.exe’ is commonly understood as a game, usually developed in short time span, that is based off some internet creepy pasta. These games often dub as well-developed horror patchwork for popular franchises, with noteworthy examples including Sonic.exe, and Ben Drowned (based off The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask). Final_SIM deserves an honorary ‘.exe’ tag at the end because it is short, spooky, and aesthetically reminiscent of cozy internet horror.
Final_SIM is a short psychological horror that has the player answer questions, solve puzzles, and simulate odd religious VHS tapes. One reason Final_SIM is an honorary ‘.exe’ game is because of its main antagonist. We must avoid a threatening, ominous figure who stalks their prey at when the lights are out. The enemy slowly inches at you while the VHS aesthetic glitches sporadically. This atmosphere and overall mechanic overlaps strongly with Slender Man games and the Occupant archetype, with more peripheral notes of general fear of the dark creepy pastas.
Final_SIM is far from a perfect game. In fact, I would be hard pressed to categorize it as a "good" game under most standards. However, for $0.99 it proves to be a cost-effective purchase for obscure horror game collectors who can look past wonky controls and an occasional enemy no_clip. It does not resort to traditional jump scares and contains a final level that will leave completionist gamers pulling their hairs out. The story behind ‘.exe’ games, creepy pastas, and urban internet horror is fascinating. Creepy pastas inspire ‘.exe’ games, and vice-versa. I believe that feedback loop is important for the ongoing development of urban internet horror. Final_SIM, along with dead_file[.]exe, serve as notable Steam entries despite the former's flaws.
