Split screen gameplay is awesome. In 2024 graphics still hold good. 21:9 splitscreen has small visual bug but is playable.
I recommend this game!!!
I really wanted to like this game after discovering it but I just can't. You just have little means of preventing yourself from getting hit because your vehicles are very sluggish and the levels have very little space to maneuver in, the game reflects this by spawning copious amounts of health pickups making combat a game of randomness.
Renegade Ops is probably the most fun I've had in a twin stick shooter.
You have 7 characters in total and it took me almost 10 hours to complete the game using only one character.
That being said...it would take me 70 hours to finish with all 7....i think.
Nevermind the fact that one of the characters is Gordon Freeman from Half-Life...i thought that was so cool.
The game is great and cheap so it's definitely worth a try.
Works great on Steam Deck. Visuals hold up and the physics are amazing.
Renegade Ops is one of the hundreds of examples of video games on the Steam Store that should have never left the console scene.
As demonstrated by the inconsistent dialogue and map design, the product is heavily biased toward multiplayer to the point where its designers thought it a sound idea to exclude checkpoints but include mandatory in-game cinematics that can not be skipped since it is assumed that multiple players would gather to breeze through levels in an arcade fashion; the singleplayer experience is altogether abysmal as a result of illiberal time limits that compel players to rush through levels in a game that is cheap in providing players resources yet generous in designing enemies to suspiciously deadeye. This is to say that missiles will almost always explode near players, if a direct hit is not possible, and can easily destroy the player's vehicle in less than three shots successively.
Physics-wise, players will have to cope with operating a feathery vehicle in maps that are never short in mounds and cliffs while having to race against a time limit and a slow respawn system that attempts to compensate for this fact by getting players unstuck or spawning them 100 meters from where they originally died. In actuality, players will find themselves mostly fighting to keep their vehicles from capsizing rather than fending off enemy vehicles.
Whether the player chooses to play with others or attempt to cope with the solo experience, Renegade Ops has shown itself to be apparently past its prime as a result of its unignorable design oversights and frequent technical issues.
At least the Steam version rewards players an additional vehicle/character for having the audacity to play this game on a computer.
yes
They have Gordon Freeman in this and his ability is utter dogshit, massive W
A true hidden gem
This game crashes a lot for me. Gave up on playing it.
