I do like exploring underwater in games, such as this one. Finding the last items can be a bit daunting. Relaxing, peaceful music and of course, breathtaking view. The only problem are the geysers that can really make the game lag if staring on the area where you're looking around.
Although I like this game, its not a simulator, I've dived for real and this is super basic. The maps are good and the graphics not bad but the game play is done by exploring the map for treasure on a timer. The more you find the more you unlock. Game play good but it starts getting hard and you end up playing the same level over and over to progress. A free explore mode would be good to see and some deeper levels with more simulation style.
A very interesting title with beautiful underwater views and a great joy to do some scuba diving but a little on the short side with you wanting more by the time you have finished the game. I believe there is another very similar type of game named ABZU also available on steam. I have to say that it is really enjoyable and chilled out type of game and it gets 8/10 for graphics as some views look stunning and the game has a very interesting atmosphere and gets 7/10 for that, the sounds on the other hand are lacking but still good enough to get a 6/10. Overall great fun to play and would recommend to anyone.
"Health Gun" shooting fish for health, everything else like it was a "shooter on rails"?
Crappy models, even worse diving/swimming mechanics - it's all around bad.
Passablefor a student's project in gaming, not acceptable for any paid product.
I really like this. It's kind of addictive. I was a diver once but can dive no more, and I miss it. While the controls are difficult to get used to, once I got the hang of them I felt at home. The dynamics really are much like diving. One can change buoyancy , speed up, look around, turn, and slow, stop, or reverse. You have to avoid hitting things, which is exactly what you have to do in real diving. There are many things to find, which makes it entertaining, and beautiful fish, corals, anemones, and sponges to look at as well as dolphins, turtles, rays, and sharks. You get to "shoot" sick fish with a healing gun. A scanner helps you find things. You even get to use an ROV to explore caves. There are dangers like sharks and orcas that you display a knife to, to make them leave you alone. I used the Options to change that, because in reality sharks and orcas aren't going to bother you, and I was a lot happier not doing that. Check this game out. You might enjoy it like I do.
Looked like an interesting diving game but sadly it feels like one of those underwater levels in a Super Mario game, unresponsive movement really ruins it for me. I expected something like Subnautica in terms of mobility, but got an underwater tank controls instead.
This game is peaceful, it's good for relax. I was a little bit anxious about predators in the game. But it's pretty ok. They are not as frightening as i thought they would. It's a game where you need to find relics in the ocean as diving. Every map is different and interesting. It's totally worth the try !
The entire game is an item fetch quest, if you were looking for an actual diving simulator you sadly won't find it here. Even the decompression is ridiculous, it doesn't even become an issue unless you rise at least 50 metres as fast as possible which is very close the deepest point in the game anyway.
If you just want to get your feet wet without any expectations to dive in the deep end. Don't hold your breath expecting this to be Endless Ocean or Forever Blue. This is just floating about and exploring a little bit. If you like using your flipper then this is it... or Pinball FX.
Really fun and relaxing game, especially if you love adventure without gore or violence!
Pros:
Awesome graphics, sounds. Really feels like you're underwater
Variety of sea life
Variety of places to visit, especially if you get the adventure pack!
Tons of things to do, including heal marine life, clean up the ocean, or look for treasure.
Has a good storyline.
Cons:
-Sharks attack randomly and destroy your oxygen levels
Bumping into little things depletes your oxygen-kinda dumb
Orcas attack people?!?!? IDK why that was included.
The controls for swimming are a bit wonky, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad.
The storyline ending to the main quest without the adventure pack was a horrible cliffhanger that made no sense.
Recommend if you love ocean, adventure, nature, animals, marine life, exploration, archaeology.
You either hate it or love it. P.S. Purchased Deep Diving Simulator at discount ~1.80 euros.
Pros:
1. Nice graphics and sea creatures. Nice music.
Cons:
(After trying for 2.8 hours, coming back and forth, a few weeks later. Playing on a Lenovo YOGA Laptop.)
1. Even at 30 fps, at thee lowest quality set up, the game still lags and skips alot of frames.
2. Controls are really hard to master, both controller and keyboard with mouse. Equivalent to how hard the controls are in the game Project Cars.
After reading some of the reviews, the most common problematic issue is that, there is no brake button, only acceleration, and with each bump the diver decreases oxygen. On top of that, the loading and action delay after pressing a button and steering to another direction. And double check PC requirements BEFORE PURCHASING.
Updated Review (Dec 2021):
The game did not work for me initially in Nov/Dec 2020. It was a pity, because I wanted an immersive undersea simulator.
It may have been the updates, but the game now works even on my setup, and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. I did not care for the scares and so I switched off the shark attacks. Now the sharks and orcas just swim around.
It is a very nice atmospheric game where you dive to retrieve various valuable objects from the sea floor and heal fish using an eco gun. The locales are varied and include both colourful coral paradises, and dilapidated, murky waters full of wrecks.
I certainly had fun and as the game stands, I can totally recommend it to anyone who likes realistic simulators (in this case, a diving simulator). There is some storyline and the level with the underwater mines is outright claustrophobic, but I reckon about 20 hours of fun can be had with the game.
Kudos to the developers!
Bought this in a sale and glad. Its no Endless Oceans and its not a simulator in anything more than a vague way.
You dive collect objects, you can also make other aquatic life better using a magic ray gun as well as dematerialize nets and doors using a reverse ray gun.. like Portal but so much more dull...
You will also become infuriated with the odd controls that change dependant on what you are using and you seem to always rotate around annoyingly. I spent most my time trying to re-map the controls to something more useful.. and even failed at that.
You also have very little air, but perhaps that would upgrade later? who knows I got bored and uninstalled. Scenery did not have me thinking "wow this is sooo cool.." to myself and just misses the mark of anything near fun.
Recommendation - Avoid, even in a sale its probably going to make you wish you'd saved your money like me,
first thing's first - disable damage on this game. I play it on Static only, so any damage you do incur is your own fault, because losing all your air to a hidden attack fish is pretty crappy.
Second thing, following on from that, no idea why there isn't a separate Damage/ Stamina meter to prevent said fatal air theft by fish.
Other than that, this a pretty, relaxing game which I'm playing after 500 or so hours of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and as part of Covid 2020 - it's definitely just for the fun of it. I like the underwater setting, the treasure/ eco-warrior part of it gives you some purpose (I'm not doing the joke), the come quite quickly and the achievements are easy enough to rack up just by doing the basic gameplay, for the most part.
Worth a go.
i have always loved swimming and diving since i was a kid saw this game and had to try it im glad i did one grip though, please fix the fps drops on certian maps i have a gtx 1080 and i was getting 40-30 fps in certian areas
not a very good game, awful movement and gameplay, uninspired locations, badly optimized, does not provide anything that even comes close to a realistic diving experience
It's "okay", not great but definitely not bad. Just didn't feel like there was any point to collecting stuff other than for the sake of collecting stuff. You get upgrades but those feel rather obvious and you don't feel like you've actually earned anything.
Not a game I'll be playing again but I'll also not be refunding it. Perhaps one of my kids might find some adventure in it.
Personally I'd rather just keep playing Subnautica.
I have spent about 8 hours in the game now and I must say that it was a beautiful, relaxing and bug-free experience. So I want to appreciate this way all the hard work of all the programmers, testers, designers and all the people that made this happen. Being a programmer myself, I can imagine that it was not easy to accomplish. I have been looking forward to this game for months and it managed to fulfill my expectations in many ways. Deep Diving Simulator is in my opinion totally worth its current price for anyone looking for a relaxing experience with the diving theme. However, I also believe that it has a potential to become a fully-fledged game that I would come back to again and again.
Graphics
Beautiful and charming.
Music
Relaxing and calming.
Diving Mechanics
Reasonable, with a potential for improvement. Diving deeper doesn't feel like a big deal at the moment. Which it should. The air compression in the lungs causes much more oxygen to get consumed. The decompression sickness becomes more likely. Everything gets darker, some colors disappear completely, and at some depth you can barely see anything without a flashlight. This is the experience that I would expect, especially in the last level, diving deep to the gate of Atlantis.
Gameplay
Nice and polished. Exploring the environment, collecting items and healing fishes. Everything without any frustration. There are also some nice puzzles. Not really much in terms of excitement, which is fine if I just want to sit down and relax. But sometimes I want to switch to something more engaging. And this is what I miss at this stage. I want to have some more specific goals, like to find particular hidden treasures using a few hints, or save particular animals. I also want to have some larger goal apart from the storyline. Let me for example have my very own personal reef where I could put the animals I saved and decorate it with some nice corals that bought for the money I earned from the treasures. Having such a goal would make me feel more connected. I would feel even more connected, if I had the feeling that my actions make an actual difference. If I did something right, let me hear about it. For instance, if I save some fish from a fishing net, let me hear a voice appreciating what I have done. If I clean up some area and come back later, maybe put some more fish there, so I can see that my actions actually matter. I would be very happy if the developers took some inspiration from games like Endless Ocean: Adventures of the Deep, which would make me remember the game long after I finished it.
Conclusion
Deep Diving Simulator achieves its goal to be a beautiful relaxing game. It is totally worth playing at this stage already. It is my hope that the developers will continuously enrich the gameplay to create a game that would keep me engaged for many more hours.
Very relaxing game. Objective is exploration and finding items in different areas. Controls are easy to graso but i needed few minutes to get used to diver movements since these have this kind of delay to them. Graphics is nice and music fits perfectly. Overall i like it I think i will make few dives from time to time to chill out a bit.
For all people expecting a subnautica game, this is not that, and you also dont pay for it.
This is a nice relaxing game that you can play while listening to a broadcast or something.
You will probably finish this game in 10 hours, for the price of a movie ticket that only last about 2 hours.
This reminds me of an old game called scuba kids.
EDIT: After last patch with option to disable shark attacks gameplay: 4.5/5
If you are looking for a chill out without violence and demanding actions it is for you.
After aprox 1.5 of a gameplay:
Video 4.5/5
Music 5/5
Sound (human voice) 3.5/5
Gameplay 4/5
This is not subnautica, it's not an action game. This game allows you to slowly dive into peaceful ocean's world focusing on exploring. If you are looking for a relax without violent and stupid action just try it.
I like physcs of the swimming, but I really don't like how often predators are interested in you. Please add option to change frequence of predators attacks. I really do not want to see it as an action game, do not like if I met shark every 5 minutes. I want to focus on exploring.
This game is really good and has rly big potential.
