I want to love this game, I really do. On paper its everything I love, being a big powerful overwhelming army that mashes through poor saps who have no chance. Except its not. The early game is great, its this to a T, but mid/late game it nose dives off a cliff into a pit of spikes where it explodes fantastically. The game doesn't value your time or effort. Given I might be riding a bit of salt (pun intended), but I feel that's justified.

This game is a clunky, unfair, and poorly thought out mess. On paper, the game is meant to be a game of rock paper scissors where certain units counter certain units. Except the issue is, army composition is pointless. You're far better off spamming a bunch of the same units because of how combat works. Its all one button. For example, crabs are meant to counter bullets and fire. Issue is, theres no way to organize units, and all units charge at once. Including ranged units. This leads to your faster swarm units sprinting in front of the crabs, eating crap and dying, and the crabs finally arriving and slowly whittling the enemy down due to abysmal damage on them. Oh and if its a flamethrower your ranged untis have walked up and gotten caught in the blast and incinerated. or molested by something from behind because they're arthritic.

In addition some unit design is simply baffling. the Lich for example, a unit I initially loved, is a ranged spell caster that converts fallen enemies into ghosts for your side. issue is its made of fucking tissue paper and moves like an arthritic snail. Meaning while you're swarming with the speedy ghosts, its waddling to the front, and in attack mode, units remove all self preservation from fire, so a molotover will inevitably chuck a molotov and your stupid brainless lich will walk in, die instantly, and all your ghosts die with it. Or you'll be fighting a hero unit (see the next section) and they'll roll past your ghosts and shotgun your lich to death, wiping your full army.

Though, the final nail, combined with the last two, unfair design. See the whole point of the game is surrounding and mauling enemies to death (And Ideally inflicting fear wich removes the enemy's ability to attack). Except certain units go against this. I think the least offensive is the lumberjack/hammer unit, who has high morale and does a devastating AOE strike to wipe hordes. He makes a big wind up before making a slam attack in which he's stunned afterwards. Its all very telegraphed and obvious, walk out of the circle and wait then beat him to death, avoid the object he drops on death for a finall f you. Other than this, he opperates and is clogged up like any other unit. However some, like the hero units, are just unfun. The first you will encounter is the shotgunner. They are AIDS to fight. alone, they're just a nuisance. Thy have a high damaging shotgun blast, a high move speed, and the ability to roll away. However this ability quickly becomes supremely unfun when you realize they can roll out of being swamed. This makes them supremely unfun later on. Especially where I finally quit the game. There was a section where a shotgun hero would sit behind a barrier with two hammer units and two archer units around an opening, and a building seperating the two routes. Both routes are bs. If you take the barricade he wipes half your units by shooting over the baricade. If you go around and maul the archers,he will scamper away to the hammer unit, or just *roll over the damn barricades*. This, two units that absolutely should not be paired in a tight environment, in addition to being screwed by a mix of poor apostle choice (leading to bad unit choices) and bad level design made me quit. And the cherry on top? Its a soft lock. My units, a lich and a swarm of ghosts, could not clear the level after 45 minutes of attempts and small issues ruining each run. No one knows about this game, but it's really good.

After I bought Keep Driving by YCJY Games,decided to support developers team by purchasing all their games in deluxe edition and I am extremely happy by my choice.

Sea Salt is an atmospheric blend of horror and strategy,with a recognizable visual style that immediately grabs you.The dark art by Josef Martinovsky is heavily inspired by Mike Mignola,gives the game a moody, gothic feel that perfectly complements its eerie Lovecraftian aesthetics. Controlling a swarm of eldritch horrors to wipe out humanity is both unique and incredibly satisfying.

The main musical theme perfectly fits into the game.Setting the perfect tone for the creeping dread that unfolds. Despite the grim setting,the amusing, garbled voices of the NPCs add an unexpected charm and fun,lol.If you enjoy dark aesthetics,strategic gameplay,and a bit of cosmic terror (with a touch of humor), this game is definitely a MUST-PLAY!

I'm bad at it, it's hard and sometimes frustrating - but the gorgeous pixel art and music more than overcome any issues it may have.

Reverse horror action RTS. One of my favorite indie games. play it, you wont regret it.

Fun Game severely held back by price and gameplay. The main idea is that you are an unstoppable horde of ungodly creatures come to roll like a tide of evil and malice over the people. The humor and the style by which it is all portrayed alongside flavor text is all very good but the game's mechanics and balancing results in your hoard being absolutely chewed up by a burly lumberjack smacking the ground or the spray of a flame thrower that cuts through them like butter.

Your Horde has paper skin and glass bones and every morning the Horde breaks its' legs, then in the afternoon it breaks its' arms, and then it lays in bed in agony until its' heart attacks put it to sleep.

Surprisingly boring game.

No complaints about the setting, no complaints about the atmosphere, no complaints about the graphics, but after half an hour the charm of the dark Lovecraftian universe disappears and only dull, casual gameplay remains in the form of a crowd of minions following the player's pentagram (WASD). You can attack with them, you can dodge projectiles with them, you can do nothing with them, that's all. Sometimes the minions, in their boundless hatred of civilization, begin to gnaw nearby barrels instead of enemies.

A true eldritch game. even to the game-play, all the way to the story.

its not a bad pikmen-esque game, just a bit rough around the edges at points but otherwise a good and enjoyable game, just a bit of a steep price for what you get and i recommend waiting for a sale

Personally, it just genuinely makes me upset. Yes, you pick your fights and everything, tactics and strategy are required, but the actual setup is all so slow, and some cutscenes just aren't able to be skipped sometimes, like the display of a new enemy. This makes the pace of the game quite bad.

Other than that though, it's VERY solid with everything else. The quality of life and some gameplay is just the problem, like the cultists targetting walls instead of enemies (therefore requiring you to clear the walls out first, which means, screw up an encounter later in the room? Need to sit through that process again, yay!), or the swarm alerting literally every other encounter in the room immediately.

Restart after restart - I'm not complaining about its difficulty, I'd just like it to all go smoother and faster, instead of needing to do steps one through whatever again with every fail.

Great aesthetic and engaging story, reverse horror game are my favorite. The only small criticism i have is when controlling a hoard theres nothing more annoying than some lagging behind or getting stuck, a few times i found myslef wondering where the majority of them where, in games like these the hoard should be tightly packed and move in more unison. But otherwise a great game.
